Jennifer Lawrence: Hunger Games, Hot Takes & Online Hate
What is up, Daddy gang? It is your. founding father, Alex Cooper, with Call. Her Daddy. >> Jennifer Lawrence, welcome to Caller. Daddy. >> Thank you so much for having me. >> I'm so happy you're here. >> Thank you. I'm very happy to be here. >> I have been really looking forward to. this conversation. Obviously, you are. like one of the biggest movie stars. >> Of course. Of course. Go on. >> Just so well established with an Oscar. Yes. >> And then I feel like you really became.
known for just not being afraid to say. what you're thinking. I do feel like. you're the type of person when people. meet you, they kind of already feel like. they know you and like you're their best. friend. >> Yes. >> Do you feel like people overshare when. they meet you? >> No. Nobody ever overshares more than me. >> Me two seconds ago before the camera. started rolling be like, "All right, so. the cramps in my crotch, what am I doing. again?" I brought that up. >> Okay, fair. Fair. >> That was for me. Okay. But you don't. think randoms overshare with you too. much?
>> No. And I don't think I would notice. Like I'm just so confused about. boundaries that. >> Okay, perfect. >> Yeah. I don't think it would even cross. my mind. >> That'll make for good podcasting today. Hopefully. >> it will. >> Do you feel like you've ever had a. really weird interaction with maybe like. a fan in the wild who thinks like, "Oh, you're my girl. Like, let me just hang. with you for a second." Or do they have. boundaries? >> Nobody in New York wants to be the the. dork that's like, "Oh my god, I'm a huge. fan." You know, so everybody's just like. >> there was I was like coming out of a. movie and was stuck on a very slow.
escalator in front of a girl that. >> was like asking to take a picture with. me, but I just got a peel. I actually. got a peel too close to this. I don't. know if you can see the bumps. >> You look gorgeous. >> You look gorgeous. >> Thank you. Um and so that was just. uncomfortable cuz I was like, "No.". And then we were just stuck together. >> And then you started oversharing. You're. like because of the peel. >> Yeah. Yeah. I got a peel on my [ __ ]. >> He's like, I literally hate you and I'm. not anymore and I never asked you for.
that information. >> I can't believe I ever. >> Do people usually call you Jen or Jayla? >> Imagine if I had people in my life that. call me Jaylaw. My best friends all call. me Jayla. Um, and if somebody. accidentally calls me Jen, I'm like, "What? Hold on. >> It's Jaylaw to you.". >> Um, >> I should refer to you as Jen though, right? >> Yes. >> Jennifer. >> Yeah, Miz. >> It's Jennifer. Dr. Lawrence. Um, yes, you can refer to me as Jen. Yeah, I like. the the Jay Law thing. It's cool. I hope. JLo is not mad.
>> No. Yeah. Like, have you ever been in a. room with her and it's been like, "Oh, we're both Yeah, >> sure. Why not?" Yes. >> Let's stir the. >> And we got in a huge fight and I took. her out. >> No, I could see that cuz I was like, I'm. saying Jaylaw and then like my husband. earlier was like JLo. And I'm like Jay. Law. >> It's like a good person to get mixed up. with. >> Totally. >> Yeah. I'm not mad. >> I know she might be, but I'm not. >> Um, your hair looks gorgeous today. >> Thank you. >> And I just wanted to congratulate you on.
that because you are adding a new. business to your resume. >> I am. >> You are coming out with a new hair care. brand called. >> Mess. >> Where did the name come from? >> It was it was the first name that I ever. like kind of came to the table with and. was just like, I want to have a hair. company called Mask. Like it feels true. for me. Um, not to brag. Um, and so when. I finally started working with Archao. and we started like, you know, getting. getting into the nitty-gritty, it was. just kind of like, well, it's obviously. not going to be called math. And like, so we went through and I was like, okay,
like we went through thousands of names, like a big company and everything. And. then between copywriting and, you know, 86ing certain names that we didn't like, we did land right back at me. >> That's kind of validating. You're like, my idea was right all along. Are you. actually freezing? I'm not as cold as I. am scared. >> Are you nervous? >> Um, no. I'm not nervous of the. interview. I just I can feel your. pregnant energy and I'm like, >> wait, what is pregnant energy? >> Um, quick. >> Wait, I feel so slow. I feel like I'm. quick cuz I want to keep up with you.
>> Oh, should we slow it down? >> Sure. My pregnancy brain is just like I feel. like when I'm doing an interview, I've. got to be quick cuz like I'm now I got. to lock in because if I lock out for one. second, I'm not coming back. >> I'm going to be gone. >> Well, you know what? I have postpartum. brain. >> So, of course, they think you're fast. cuz I'm like, what? >> So, let us just say disclaimer today. If. we say anything so stupid out of pocket, something that could get us cancelled, it's not our fault. No, it's literally.
our husbands. Like scientifically, literally. >> We're perfect. >> Yes, we are. >> Speaking of mess, I'm going to give you. a messy scenario cuz like you said, your. life, you're a little messy and you also. have like good takes. So, I want to give. you a scenario and you're going to tell. me how you would handle it. >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. Here we go. A friend starts seeing. a guy and she is head over heels for. him. So in love, obsessed. Can't stop. talking about him. But you've kind of.
like noticed a couple weird things. Like. example, he's constantly paying for. dinner. He's so generous. But no one has. any [ __ ] idea what he does for work. >> I hate that. >> Are you going to bring this up to her or. you just going to let her live in her. happiness? >> I wouldn't bring it up to her unless she. asked and asked in a real way because. there was obviously asking in the notre. way, you know, in a group as a joke or. whatever. But if she was like, "What do.
you think?" And do you think this is. weird? Then I would be like, "I don't. know. Do you think it's weird?" Yeah, I. think it's super weird. >> Right. Like first put it back on her. totem check. But most I think that's a. good point. It's never at the brunch. It's never with all the friends where. she's like, "What do you think about. Garrett?" And if you're the idiot that's. going to be like, "Honestly, it really. suses me out." It's like, "No, no, no. She's actually asking you to tell her. how much you like Garrett." Like that. Read the room. It is always so although. I guess it's getting harder with like AI.
and all this new I feel so old now with. like all of the you know changes. um that like if somebody can't tell you. what they do you know in like under 60. seconds it's a red flag but now I'm like. is it like. >> right it's kind of like what we're. living today. >> someone's like I'm a computer. >> and I'm just like okay. >> and then we believe them. >> of course obviously. >> what am I going to do. >> and you feel dumb that you don't know. you know I can't drop a pin So, of. course you're a computer. >> Neither can I. That actually is actually. really confusing. Um, what is the worst.
red flag that you've ever looked in your. past? Overlooked. >> Overlooked. Oh, wow. A guy that I was. obsessed with uh was gay and told me he. was gay. >> Oh. And you were like, >> and I was like, "No, you're not. >> You're gay right now. >> Just give me a chance.". >> Okay, that's good. But so you didn't end. up together, obviously. And like. >> No, we did. Okay. >> That's my husband. I'm just kidding. Eight years. Yeah, that'd be great. Okay, good to know. Okay. Is it okay to tell a white lie to.
get out of dinner with a friend if you. are just too tired to go? >> I mean, if a white lie to get out of. dinner is wrong, then I don't want to be. right. I don't I have My husband. has for years it like baffles him. Like. if he wants to get out of something, he. just says like, "Hey, can't tonight, you. know, goodbye." Like I I I can't even. like. >> But he's direct. >> And I'm just like, I broke my foot on a.
piece of glass. We're rushing to the. hospital. There's a tornado in this city. for the first time in decades. Like it's. just always so long and dramatic cuz I. need to make it believable. But now I've. gotten into a new place in my life where. I just don't make plans. >> I just say no to absolutely everything. And I haven't seen anyone in my life for. years. >> Like, why do we do that? My husband does. the same thing where he's like, "Yo, man. Like, it's been a really crazy. week. Like, can't make it. Like, got to. got want to just stay in with the wife. tonight." And I'm literally like, "How.
did you do that?". >> Yeah. Like, are they so mad? Which is. weird because like it's normally. something is like a projection, but like. I I never get mad if somebody cancels on. me. I obviously love when people cancel. So, I don't know what like I I picture. the person on the phone just being like, "What?". >> Right? You know, >> how could you? >> I mean, I like love when people cancel. I'm like, "Oh, perfect.". >> There's nothing better than a cancel. plan. >> If you and your husband are, you know, you got a night without the kids, what. are you doing? >> Sitting in silence on our phones. >> Okay.
>> I I hope. >> it's so You know what's so beautiful. about that answer is it's so real. And. I've seen like celebrity couples like. out at lunch or something and they'll be. both on their phones and like you see. the comments of people being like, "Wow, they like hate each And I'm like, "That's what you do with your boyfriend. at your date.". >> Yeah. Like what? >> Right. No. No. Okay. >> What are we going to talk about? >> How was your day? I know exactly how. your day was. I know exactly what. happened. >> Yeah. And don't you dare ask how mine. was because have you not been paying. attention.
>> It's actually true. Um, okay. Your. friend has been working on a script as a. passion project and sends it to you for. feedback. You read it and it is just god. aful terrible. What do you say? I mean, God, that's tough. I mean, I. think if if I'm not in a position where. like I have to make it or something and. it doesn't it's not it's no skin off my. back, then I think I would just be like, it's amazing. I love it. >> This is groundbreaking.
>> Yeah. But if I if it if it was like I. had to produce it or something, I would. be like, Justine hated it. >> I loved it. Justine hated it. >> Justine's watching this literally like, "Yep, that's my life." Yeah. Yeah. Always blame someone else. Yeah, >> you don't need to take the brunt of. that. >> I wonder how many people in my. professional life are going to watch. this and be like, "Oh my god, >> Justine's always hated.". >> Justine hated my work, too. >> It's always you. Um, what is the most. brutal piece of acting feedback you have. ever gotten in your career? >> My mom at the premiere of The Hunger.
Games said she could tell in every scene. when I had my period. Water retention, I guess. Imagine a day. of me being on camera that that doesn't. go through my mind. >> You now like will never film when you're. on your period. You're like, I'm so. scarred. Don't put me on camera. Oh, well. Yeah, that's a that's. >> I'm like, well, I'll only be able to. film for about 20 days. She's also like. the most supportive and the bet and like. the person I'm so excited to tell. exciting news to. I don't know if I.
think all moms do this where you're. like, "Guess what?" And they just say. the most out like the craziest like it. will never live up to it, you know? I'm. like, "Guess what?" And she's like, "Oh. my god, you wrote a movie. you're. winning an Oscar for best writer, director, and you're acting in it and. just won an Oscar for that. And I'm. like, no, but. >> but I love that you love me. >> Yeah. >> Um, that's what I was thinking about. when you were coming here. I'm like, I. know some of your story, but like I feel. like maybe some people don't and you. kind of have an interesting way that you. got into this industry. So, you were.
discovered on the street when you were. only 14 years old in New York City with. your mother, which is like such a flex. to get like recognized in the street. They're like, "This one, this this one's. going to make it." Which is great. >> So pretty. >> They just were like, "She is so. stunning, gorgeous, incredible.". >> I walked on the street and everybody was. like, "Oh my god.". >> They're like passing out. >> Like, "This is the most stunning woman. I've ever seen in my life." So, they do. that. Yeah. >> And then your parents let you move to. New York City with your brother to.
pursue this career to some capacity. >> I accept this abridged version. Yeah. I. need you to turn the AC down, please. I'm going to die. >> No, no, no. Turn it down. I'm okay. >> I'm like, my nose is hurting. I'm. getting sick. >> Like my throat hurts. You know what's so. >> You're going to leave here and be. literally sniffling. So sick. >> I will send you my doctor bill. >> You know what's so crazy is I feel so. great. >> I know. I was pregnant. I was like in my. third trimester in the winter of New.
York and I was just flying down the FDR. with all of the windows down so hot. because when you're pregnant in the. winter the heat is on everywhere and so. I couldn't go to restaurants cuz I was. just like it's going to be 100° in a. restaurant. >> Put it towards me if you can. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like perfect. >> Yeah. >> If not I'll get you a blanket. >> Okay. So we're in New York City. You're. a model basically. You're stunning. gorgeous. You're from Kentucky. Mhm. >> So, when you go back to Kentucky before. you move to New York and you tell all of.
your friends like, "I'm moving to New. York City to pursue this." Were all of. your friends like, "Oh, that's so. classic, Jen." Or were they like, "What? What do you mean you're doing this?". >> Um, well, they all thought I was lying. because I was a prolific liar. >> Oh, you're kind of like pathological. liar, huh? You're kind of like, >> "Not anymore.". >> Nothing you say this entire interview is. honest. >> I'm actually from Arizona. Um, no. I don't lie in interviews. because I just assume everybody can like. look something up and like there's. nothing more embarrassing than getting. caught in a lie. Like, let me tell you.
In elementary school, I told everyone I. had a wooden leg. And when they found. out I didn't. >> Did you not wear skirts or shorts ever? >> No. >> Wait, they feels like a lie. >> Keep going with that. People thought you. >> I'm like, "No, I didn't wear skirts. because I went to a rela school where. just keeps going.". >> You said that you had a wooden leg. >> Mhm. >> So, that kind of paints the picture. I. was going to say like what were you like. as a teenager? Well, me as a teenager, it was a little more complicated because.
I was completely unsocialized as anybody. who's seen me in an interview can see, but like I left Kentucky, left school. when I was 14 and worked and and. homeschooled. I mean, I don't really. homeschool, but um so I I wasn't around. kids. I was a little weird. >> So, and were you comfortable with adults. or you were just like not comfortable. with anyone? Um, I'm sure I was. comfortable with adults, but I mean I. don't think adults were like, "Wow, what. a cool what a great hang." Like, "Wow.".
And I definitely don't think anybody was. like, "She's mature.". >> Okay, that's fair. So, as someone who. didn't grow up though, like you didn't. want to be an actress at like 6 years. old. You weren't like this, I'm made for. the movies. >> No, it was never something that like. really crossed my mind. I um just I I. just wouldn't have thought that it was a. possibility. Um, looking back in. retrospect, we can see signs like I. would like walk out the door and like. ring the doorbell as like different. characters like asking to use the phone. and like you know we can look back.
through like photo albums and be like ah. an actor. >> Yes. What did you want to be with. growing up? >> I thought I was going to be a well a. doctor. an interior designer which is I have no. gift towards that at all. Um these were. just like jobs I knew about. um. >> range. That's good. A doctor. >> Mhm. That also can decorate your home. >> Okay. So, you end up becoming an. actress, obviously. And I today kind of. wanted to go down memory lane now that. you're getting warmed up.
>> Mhm. >> Physically. >> and verbally. >> Yes. >> Call Her Daddy is brought to you by. Claio. then we're going to get into it. Okay. Hunger Games. >> Okay. You're 20 years old when you get. Katniss. >> Uhhuh. >> I need to know what you remember about. going in for reading this audition. >> Oh god. Um, skinny jeans. Um, I remember. stopping to buy candy before and eating. it in the parking lot and then it was at. the director Gary Ross's house in his.
office above the garage and he cried in. my audition. So, I was like, that seems like a good. sign. >> Did you think you got the part? You're. like, just good signs. >> Um, no. No, I don't think I thought I. thought. Yeah, especially cuz you're so. sus you're so um what's that word? I. don't have word suspicious notic like. superstitious about like Yeah. You're. like I don't want to jinx anything. Yeah. >> And did they film it? Like have you ever. rewatched your audition tape? >> They did film it. But please don't. really I don't ever want to see one of. those. Oh my god. Ever. >> But if it made people cry like Jen, this.
is good. Like. >> I don't care. I don't know what I was. wearing. I know it wasn't good. >> You don't want to go back to that. You. don't relive the glory days. >> No. And like why did I like stop my car. and eat a bag of candy? like. >> well it clearly worked. >> Obviously The Hunger Games did have a. massive fan base because of the books. Like were you at all nervous once you. got cast because fans are very intense. about book series and it's a lot to live. up to. >> That's not what made me nervous cuz I. don't think I like knew about that. >> Yeah. >> Um what made me nervous was just the way.
I I was afraid that it could negatively. negatively affect my acting career. I. was like and just like my my personal. life because like the one thing that I. was always sure of when I was younger. was like I want to be a mom. Um and I. was just like this just looks so. different than like you know doing some. indies and like doing a film here. Like. this is huge. Like cuz Twilight had like. just come out and everybody saw what.
that was. And so it it was really just. more like. how is this going to change my my life. and and my acting career? >> And then it did forever. >> And then but as we've established from. 14, I just kind of do things. I just. keep. >> You're like it's fine. It's everything. >> I'll figure it out when I get there. >> Do you remember your first day on set. with the entire cast? >> Yeah, I remember day one. Yes, day one. Cuz we were doing like the the reaping. stuff. Not I volunteer, but like that. set.
um and prim stuff at the house. Oh my. god. And I remember I was doing a scene. where I was like in a wash basin and. like a very old house in North Carolina. It was like a historical house and I saw. a fly and I punched it through a window. and shattered the window and everyone. was like, "Why did you do that?". That I do remember that from my first. day. Sorry, but what was the question? I. I Well, I don't know. But why did we Why.
did you do that? >> I was just like something moved me. >> Okay. So, did you And did you feel like. very confident on that set? >> Yes. >> Why do you think that is? Cuz that's. like your big first first job. And like. you said, like you were aware of how big. it was going to be. Like where do you. think you. >> I think cuz I had made the decision, you. know? So I it was I had taken the time. I thought about it before I said yes. I. asked them to give me a few days, you. know, and I thought about it and then I. had months to, you know, prepare and it.
it was a lot of like physical. preparation and stunt training and, you. know, a lot of archery and stuff. So, by. the time I got there, I I you know, I. was like, >> you were ready. >> Yeah. >> I I do remember like obviously how. intensive it was. You're like, I'm. actually doing physical activities. during this. Do you remember what was. one of the crazy scenes where you're. like, I can't believe I'm doing this as. an actress right now? >> Yeah, there was a scene where I'm.
running down a mountain and there are. like fireballs being like fired at me. and none of it was CGI. Like I mean I. guess the the but like the everything. really was exploding and catching on. fire and you couldn't if if you strayed. away from your trail which is not clear. because if they you know put red tape or. something you'll see it. Um so you just. kind of have a general idea of like. where to go and like if you're wrong you. will blow up.
>> You're like I love so much. This is so. fun. Thank you. >> Okay. Next, >> catching fire. >> You and Josh. >> Me and Josh. That is my baby. >> I don't know if this is controversial to. say, but like I was kind of like team. Gail. >> Totally. >> Now, >> now. we could settle the debate here. Were. you team Peeta or were you team Gail?
>> Um, I was team Gail. Even after he killed my sister, >> still writing for him. >> Yeah. >> Do you think that that will cause. controversy on the internet? >> I can't say because I said that I was. team Jeremiah during the summer I turned. pretty. And the level of hate that I got. was bigger than any controversy I've. ever been involved in in my life. >> Talk to me about that. I don't I It.
literally was like I feel like I was. just like rage baiting like slightly cuz. like I did it with my friends. It was. just like I like Jeremiah, you know, and. they'd be like. I thought it was innocent. It w people. were like you should die. You should. die. And. >> it is wild to insert yourself in that. especially who you are. >> Oh, so you agree with them. No, I just. like I'm shocked that like I do like. that you just like sling it and you're. like, "Oh, I'm just going to tell you. what I think." But it's it's definitely.
it's definitely the take that's not. >> I guess I could I guess my response to. give me the. >> to you um. >> Thank you so much for your feedback. I. guess my response to your feedback would. be how on earth would I have assumed. that such a thing would cause such I. like I've been involved in a lot like. and I've pissed off the public like many. many times. I've I'm old. I've been. famous for decades. It never occurred to me that that would. be the number one where people were just.
like I wish you have never been born. >> It's similar to if you were someone who. got involved in Love Island drama. Raj. Shung view was award-winning journalism. >> When he showed up in his overalls, I. knew we had gold on our hands. >> Yes. Yes. >> It was It was It was something for. culture. >> You were perfect. You are perfect. >> Thank you. Okay. I obviously know. famously Liam Hemsworth claimed that you. would eat tuna and garlic before kissing.
him. Why? Why did you do that? I. >> I didn't like He's just I think that. like. I don't even know where what to say. Liam, um. I we are filming for many months and. filming takes a lot of time. He made it seem like I that's just like. something I did like on purpose. Like I. would just like I would eat. >> tuna. >> and tuna what have you. Um.
>> do you like tuna? >> I do. I love tuna salad. Tuna melt. >> But it's really controversial. >> Why? >> You're going to get cancelled again. Really? Why is it controversial? >> Oh, I feel like every time I tell people. I like tuna, like, okay, don't you come. on. Don't you kind of feel like when. you're at a restaurant or you're with. people and of course it's like your. husband because he knows like whatever, but if you're with like people that. maybe don't know you and you're like, I'll have the tuna, whatever. There's a. little side eye. People kind of look at. you like you're getting the tuna. I. think people like think it's kind of. nasty. >> Oh, I'm sure it is. I need food to taste.
processed. You know, >> you're going to muddy up that tuna with. a bunch of. Mayo, zest crackers. Sorry. Go on. >> Okay. You and Josh are going to be in. the new movie. What was it like to go. back to. >> Oh my unbelievable. It was so crazy. because it was it was the same crew. It. was the same camera guys, the same AD. who I've worked with a million times too. cuz I love him. Um and Josh and Woody.
and like it was so emotional. It was. like I Josh and I like didn't walk to. the bathroom without our arms around. each other. Like we we it was so. beautiful. >> It's really cute. I'm excited. >> And Woody obviously came through the. window of my hotel room uninvited cuz it. would not be. >> the same. >> It wouldn't be the same if he listened. to Boundaries and used a door. >> Obviously not. I'm going to show you. this next one. It's one of my all-time. favorites. >> Um that's Silver Linings Playbook. Did.
you have any idea when you were filming. that movie during the process of it how. big it was going to get? >> No, of course not. I mean, you never. really do unless you're making like the. Hunger Games or whatever, but um No. No. And I felt the whole time like I I don't. get it. >> Like what is this movie about? I don't. get it. >> Yeah. I guess you kind of like leaned. into that though with your character, right? You just like you went into. like you're like honestly whatever you. took from that. Perfect. >> Yeah. So, at the time, obviously, Bradley was one of the biggest and.
obviously still is one of the biggest. actors in Hollywood. >> What was it like meeting him for the. first time? >> Um, I was definitely nervous. He was. like, he was in The Hangover. And if I. mean, what everybody here, you weren't. even born when The Hangover came out. >> Excuse you. I was a big fan of The. Hangover. >> And so, yeah, he was like the biggest. celebrity I think I like ever met at the. time. And I was like, "Watch this. Hold. my beer.". You guys then go into dance rehearsals, right? Cuz you had to do a lot. What was. the vibe? I was confident.
>> There's our girl and I'm so bad. After we finished filming, I had to do. ADR to to say like, "Yeah, I'm not that. good of a dancer, but I like it. It's. fun. It makes me happy." Because I was. my dancing was so bad and it needed to. be like explained in the movie. And if. you had put a gun to my head while we. were shooting, I would have been like, I'm really really good. I'm an amazing. dancer. >> They're like, "Hey, Jen, we're just. going to need a backup line. We may not. use it." Yeah, >> but and you're like.
>> I know. I'm like reading that. I'm like, I'm not that good of a Hey, >> okay, that's good to know. So, it. humbled you a little bit. >> Not even I was just like they probably. just need that as often. >> My character is probably just really. humble. >> for character development. That's. something. >> What else can I dance in? >> Looking back, what was one of your. favorite memories from filming that. movie? when Bradley and I had like a big. make out session like at the end of the. movie and. I I said um aren't you so sick of.
kissing and he. um didn't like that. >> but I think he laughed but it just was. funny. It was one of those moments where. you're like trying you're like right and. the other person's like oh. >> you're like oh well. >> no I thought. >> I'm sorry. >> are you saying I'm bad? Yeah. But but he. laughed. >> Next and last. >> LOL. Um. >> lol. >> LOL. Um that is Mystique way. Um on the. first the first one first class X-Men.
first class. >> and the amount of prosthetics and. costume and makeup and all. >> that was crazy. So the for for first. class which is what that one is um it. was all body paint and glue and it was. like it was eight hours every every. time. >> No. Um, and ticklish. >> and hurt. Like you you've had. airbrushing. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Imagine 12 tiny cold compressing. airbrushes all over your body. No, I'm. on I'm a hero and no one will ever.
understand what I went through. >> And it's like no one talks about it. enough. No. >> That's why I brought it here today. >> I wanted to give you your moment. Thank. you. >> But how many times did you have to do. it? >> Donate to. >> my GoFundMe. Do you feel like you've gotten more. comfortable advocating for yourself in. moments in your career where you're. like, "Oh, I don't really want to wear. that or I don't want to do that." Or do. you still feel like you're kind of. malleable in moments when people need. you to be what they want you to be? >> I think I think you you have to be. malleable. That's part of the job, you. know. So.
Lynn Ramsay for Dy May Love wanted me to. cut my hair and get like mullet bangs. and like dye it platinum blonde and like. that's the gig. like, you know, I ended. up loving the hair, but I didn't think I. was going to. Um, yeah, you you have to. be malleable. I think I I'm definitely I. speak up more because I'm also aware of. the place that I have in the industry. So, like there was like an instance on. set where PE crew members who weren't.
approved when I was like doing nudity, you know, were on set or something. And. I came down hard on it purely because if. if we're not setting that kind of. principle at the level at which we're. doing it right now, you know, then what. on earth is going to happen to an. 18-year-old unknown, you know, if she. shows up and there's people that aren't. approved, it's, you know, she's going to. be in a position like, do I say. something and get a reputation for being. difficult or do I just let these people. that I'm not comfortable seeing me naked. see me naked? So it was important to me.
to explain that to the to the people um. why that was not okay. >> It is great. I also think it's like such. a weird thing where especially as women. you're like oh wow I you slowly gain. more power as you have more success in. this industry and power I use lightly. because like still as women it's like. they. >> you can't use it then they'll they'll. get mad at you. >> Yeah. Yeah. But you're like oh maybe I. like could say a little something for. these people in this position. Maybe. then I you couldn't have said that back. all the way. like Hunger Games, let's.
say, where you were just starting off. And I think something that I have even. struggled with in my career is like we. have to be aware of our liability. Like. where do you find the balance now where. you're sitting today of like stressed as. a woman in this industry about if people. like you or not? It's it's you can't let. it influence your decisions, you know, like getting into the hairspace is like. I'm sure people are going to have a lot. to say and I think it's I think it's. scary. This is the first time I'm doing.
something that I have I I I really don't. have experience with this. nothing to. like kind of fall back on cuz I've dealt. with stress in the film industry and. there's not really a scenario that I'm. handling that I haven't handled before. or in some capacity have some sort of. and this is new for me so. but I feel really confident um I feel. really um.
too. excited did like to move forward with. it. And I mean I I. it has the the the transition to me. makes sense. It doesn't have to make. sense to anybody else, but when I was. starting out like for the mystique that. the other part of that character, Raven, they dyed my hair five different colors. just on the screen test like in a day. I. they dyed my hair red, brown, black, and. then platinum blonde.
>> How did you not lose all your hair? >> I don't know. Um cuz I was using mess. >> Yes. >> 20 years ago I was using it. Um but it. it was obviously like fried and I I had. no agency. over my hair. >> It wasn't until um I got I was in the. Hunger Games and I really wanted to use. a wig cuz I was tired of dying my hair. brown and they were refusing to give me. a wig. And so I had my first tiny little.
protest of giving myself the worst. haircut anyone has ever seen in their. life. Uh which was the pixie. famously. I I do you know how embarrassing it was. to be on a date with my now husband? I'd. be like on a second date with him and. I'd be like has he seen those pictures. of me? >> The pixie. Yeah. >> Like having a crush on somebody and know. knowing that those pictures are out on. the internet anyway. >> But he didn't know you when you had the. pixie. >> He didn't know me then. So, you know, >> but I was just like, I have a crush on.
you. Please don't Google me. Please. don't Google me. Like, >> those will be the first bottles that. come up. >> So, once all my hair was off, growing it. back, I just became obsessive about the. health. And so, I don't know. I'm I'm. excited by it. And I it's I have a lot. of like creative energy that I'm excited. to like expand on. So, um and I know. that they're good. I know that the. products work and that they're good. So. that obviously is a huge relief. I know. that part.
>> I was going to say. >> I can sleep at night. >> That will stand the test of time. If you. got a great product, then you can kind. of sit back, relax, and you can enjoy. the show. >> Yeah. >> Call her Her Daddy is brought to you by. Google Health. Growing my family comes. with enough decisions already. The last. thing I need is another app giving me. 100 numbers and basically saying, "Good. luck." This overload of information. actually becomes so confusing and. weirdly not that helpful. That's where. Google Health Coach comes in. It's a. premium feature right inside the Google.
Health app built with Gemini and tailor. made for you. Turning your own health. data into personalized guidance you can. actually use because tracking is cool. and all, but without action items to go. along with it, there's only so much I. feel like I can actually do. You guys. know I navigated gestational diabetes. during my pregnancy. So, I'm thinking. about food differently now. And what's. truly so helpful about Coach is that I. can take a photo of a meal, see the.
nutritional breakdown, and then ask what. I could add or swap to help balance it. out. So, instead of me staring at a. snack and wondering, okay, can I make this work? I can. literally ask my coach. It can suggest. something to pair with what I'm eating, like adding protein or fiber or a quick. tweak that will keep my energy steady. That's the real difference in my. opinion. It's not just tracking things. for me. It's helping me figure out what. to do next without making health.
decisions feel like another full-time. job or another puzzle to figure out. And. that makes life so much easier, especially as I'm navigating this new. chapter. Learn more at googletore.com. Okay, let's transition. I want to talk. to you about motherhood because, you. know, we've been referencing our brains. a little bit in this interview and I. appreciate you meeting me there. >> Totally. I think that something a lot of. people talk about is like their. readiness to be a mom, right? Like, oh. my gosh, how did you know you were ready. and did you feel ready? And there's been. so many people asking me that question. and I was curious for you personally, what was that experience like? Did you. know, okay, now's the time? >> Um, I wanted to be a mom for so long.
>> and, you know, didn't find the right. person and then I found the right person. and then we were married and then we. wanted to be like married for the right. time. So, I kind of like I wanted it so. badly that I kind of like waited for him. to be like, "Okay, it is now an. acceptable time for you to ask me for a. child." And I was like, "Please.". But I felt like ready. But I also like. there's also I understand when people. are like, "You're never going to feel. ready.". >> What were you completely unprepared for? >> You know,
your vagina will bounce back. Your. butthole won't. >> I don't know if I needed to hear that. before giving birth. I'm like, "Wow, wow, Jen.". >> Unprepared. You're unprepared for all of. it. I I all of it. And everybody's like, "Your instincts, your instincts. You. have no idea what you're doing. There's. no ever I remember women being like, you'll be able to hear the difference. with the cries." And then I'm like, "I. can't hear the difference with the. cries. Like, I'm such a bad mom.". >> Jen, what's going to happen to my. butthole? >> I'll tell you. I I will tell you when.
once I can get into a heated place. I'll. show you. Oh, wow. Cuz you know what? Like. >> no one said that to me yet. >> Really weird. >> No, no one said that to me. And I've had. someone be like, "Do you want to see my. birth video?" And I'm like, "No, because. I don't want to I don't want to know. yet.". >> That person sounds really really gross. and weird. >> You literally five minutes ago. >> But I I Yeah, I'm Okay, I'll We're going. to circle back before you leave on just.
like. >> Okay. >> what you meant by that. >> Okay. >> I need like three minutes. Yeah. And by. the time you explain it to me, can you. lie to my face? Because you are a good. liar. Whatever you were, what the honest. truth is, lie. Cuz I still got to I got. to do it. >> Yeah. >> And I don't want to be giving birthing. What did you say about my [ __ ]. >> There's no going back. That thing is. coming out. >> I know. But okay. How has it changed. your relationship with yourself? >> I mean, I just I'm so ruled by guilt. I'm trying not to be. I'm You know what? I'm not ruled by guilt.
>> Um. >> why? Like, what do you mean? you just. you you're never doing enough. You're. you're never you're never there enough. But if you're there too much, then you. know they're too attached and then. they're never going to go to school and. you're you're just never I don't think. I've ever just like gotten into bed and. been like, "Wow, God, I'm such a good mom." And I know. I'm a good mom. I know. And I it's just. it's hard to pat yourself on the back. because this job is so important and you.
love your kids so much that it's hard to. just be like good job. >> and you can hear it from maybe other. people be like you're doing a great job. but you yourself. >> How has it changed your approach to your. career? >> It has been. really great for my career in the way. that like um not for my career but for. my work. I don't think I've never really. needed structured time before. I've. never, you know, my I have never had to. kind of Yeah. structure my time. And so.
when you have kids, you have to be very. mindful about what hours are spent. where, what you're going to do, and how. or you're not going to get anything. done, and you're going to fail at both. So I'm really structured with my time. now, which is just something that I. never thought about or saw for myself. >> Okay. So to me, give me one piece of. advice that I'm opening it up. You're. allowed to give me advice. New mom. coming into this, what should or should. I not do? Um, don't start don't worry.
that your kid is like bored. Don't when. they get into the car seat, don't just. hand them something right away, you. know? And like that's something that. like you have to get over because you'll. be like they're bored, they're bored, they're this, they're, you know, and. it's like they're not. their neurons are. like quadrupling and they're like seeing. a tree like. >> they've never seen a tree before. >> Yeah. And like don't just give them a. vice. >> Okay. How has being a mom and a career. woman and a wife, all the things.
impacted your uh female friendships? Yeah. Well, me literally clenching my. bubble for the rest of this whole. interview being like, >> "No, how has it affected your. friendships? >> Do you have friends? >> They're over. They're done." Um I don't. know. Um the mom community is so. important and I helped me so much like. going to the baby classes and like moms. from school. Um like I remember when I. had bad postpartum with my second I like.
got in the elevator and one of the moms. was just like, "Are you okay?" And I. just wasn't. And I was just like, "I'm. really scared. Every day I have such bad. anxiety. I feel like I'm being chased by. a tiger." And like one of the moms like. heard and hugged me and just like gave. me her number and and just talked to me. Like the mom community is like really. amazing. >> It really is. And I again prior to even. thinking about having a kid would have. just been like, "Okay, I can't relate to. that." And now being pregnant, so much. of what I've been going through, it has. been really nice to see other women who. are like, "Oh my god, don't worry. I've.
done that before and I've messed that up. and all the like it makes you feel way. less alone." Cuz again, I love my. husband and he really is like my partner. and all this, but I'm like, you. literally don't understand what I'm. physically going through. So to have. another woman talk to me about her. butthole, like it's just something that. Matt and I will never connect on. Do you. know what I mean? >> Your butthole, too. >> Yeah. Yeah. Like he just he'll just. he'll just never understand it. >> Call Her Daddy is brought to you by. Ashley. >> Okay. Daddy gang, your home is where so.
much of your life happens, obviously, and so many of your favorite memories. are made, but when you're getting ready. to grow your family, you do start. thinking about your space completely. differently. Before I was pregnant, I. only really picked furniture based on. how it looked and how it felt. But now, I am thinking about real life. Like, is. this practical? Is this easy to clean? Can it survive a toddler and the throw. up? Because suddenly home isn't just. where you live. It's where I'll be.
bringing my baby back for the first time. and watching all of their milestones and. making so many memories with our new. family. And that is why I love Ashley. It makes furniture that is actually. designed for real life. Their pieces are. obviously so beautiful, but they're also. durable with performance fabrics that. are easy to clean, which feels very. necessary as I start to think about all. the spitups and the snacks and the. sticky fingers that I will be dealing. with. And when you're preparing for that. next chapter of life, convenience.
becomes so much more important. Ashley. offers fast, reliable white glove. delivery right to your room of choice, so you have everything delivered and set. up exactly where you need it. Visit your. local Ashley store or head to ashley.com. to find your style. You have a secret. Tik Tok. >> I do. >> That you use to rage bait people in the. comments. >> Yeah. And I think I'm just going to like. take that live. I think I'm just going. to It's about time I just take the mask.
off. >> Really? >> Yeah, I think so. Cuz I'm literally I'm. arguing about like Victorian, you know, ancestry. >> Wait, yeah, yeah, wait. What's on your. for you page? Uh my FYP is. um like the long skincare things. Okay. >> You know, like where the girls wake up. and they're like, >> "Oh, yeah, those ones where they're like. wearing the whole shield over their hair. and they take it off and roll.". >> By the way, like your pores can't. breathe. >> No. >> Like you can't sleep like that. Um. >> and also, how do you sleep like that?
It's the whole thing. The rollers. >> No, I don't. Um um uh hair a lot of hair. stuff. Um and um at recipes. >> Oh, you're a cook. >> Well, >> oh, >> I can cook. >> Yeah, >> I I I haven't cooked as much. >> Okay. >> Lately. >> So, have you gotten into any fights. online? >> With other celebrities? >> No. >> Oh, with strangers all the time. Every. day. >> What are you fighting about? >> I told you English tutor history.
>> Like, what are And what's your take? Like, what are we saying? It depends on. what the situation is, you know. >> And are you doing this while you're like. sitting on the toilet? Like while you're. like in the car? Like when are you most. rage baiting people? >> God, can you imagine sitting on the. toilet without your phone? >> No. I literally got up. >> I literally got up the other day cuz I. was like, I got to go get it before I go. to sit down. >> Yeah, I know. I know. Isn't that so. dark? >> Yeah. Yeah. Well, it's so like lonely. and you're. >> I know. I'll sometimes like put a.
podcast in to walk from my bedroom like. downstairs to my kitchen. like what am I. going to listen to on these 13 steps? >> Okay, so you're doing your best rage. bait comments. Maybe. >> I all all day every day, you know, there's not really Yeah, if I'm. breathing, I'm rage baiting. >> Let me get your take on a couple things. How do we feel about people who post. their Spotify raps at the end of the. year? >> I I'm I find that really uncomfortable. I don't know who could be that. extroverted. >> What are you listening to? >> I listen to the same three songs. I I.
don't know how to find new music. Name. the three songs, Jen. >> Um, I really really don't want to do. that. I I can't. I I That's too private. It's so private. >> It's so incredible. >> Of all the things we've talked about. today, that is so deeply private. >> Even when my Spotify rap does happen, I. don't want to look at it. >> I feel like if we were listening to a. song and you were like, "What are you. imagining right now?" I'm like, "I had. to tell you." And I'm like, I'm a record.
producer and I wrote this song. >> When you would go on dates with men and. they're like, what kind of music do you. like? >> Oh, just on check. >> Like there's I don't even I don't even. know. I've lied in the past to be I'm. like, "Well, what do you like?" I'm. like, "Same." Cuz it's just too. vulnerable. >> Yeah. My answer used to be, "God, I hate. this.". >> Okay, give it. >> good of everything. But that's not true. I really I cannot stand the sound of a. saxophone. It does something to my inner. like ear. It's I hate it.
>> Okay. How do you feel about glam bots on. the red carpet? >> What is that? >> You know. >> is that somebody who's a computer? >> You're like obviously I know what this. is. It's when you're on the red carpet. You go to red carpets. >> I do. >> Do the They have these at the Oscars. They go one, two, three, and there's a. camera up here and then it move. It's. the one that moves. Remember, and then. you turn. >> Humiliating. I've humiliated one. It's. not humiliating when other people do it, but the act of doing it is. >> What do you think your pose would be?
>> It gets you like right in the act where. you're like, "Yay, bad, bad, bad." Yeah, I actually could see you just doing it. and giving straight face. >> Yeah. And just be like, >> that's that would be Yeah, maybe you. should do it next time you go on the. carpet. >> Um, we got to go reality TV takes. Okay. Yeah. >> If you had to pick best reality TV show. of all time, uh, Vanderpump Rules. the the OG. >> Yeah. Specifically the first couple. seasons like Yeah.
>> I don't know what I did to you, but you. can get me a P gregio. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jax. Taylor. >> Jax Taylor. Oh my god. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Kristen Dodie. >> Oh. >> Oh, please. >> It was something was in the air. >> Yeah. >> I agree. I was trying to think about it. and I was like I think that. >> I do have to give Jersey Shore credit. because. >> it's it's like. >> it really did something for the culture. >> Here's the thing. Your question, what is. the best reality TV show ever? You're.
right. It is Jersey Shore or like the. real world or you know I think for me in. my universe I guess I would say. Vanderples. >> No, no, that's actually fair. Like for. you it's the best. No, for me I would. have been like Lagouna Beach in the. hills. Like that for me coming up. >> Oh my god. Can you imagine? Remember. Elsie's purse with the big ring? >> Do you remember her house? >> Yeah, of course. >> Oh my. >> her dad. >> Her dad. I was like I'm sitting in my. room eating my hair with my sister. We.
live on a culde-sac in Pennsylvania. I. don't even know what where Los Angeles. is on the map. And we're sitting there. watching these women and they are just. so beautiful, so gorgeous. their. outfits, they're everything. >> And they have like boyfriends, like full. boyfriends who like drive them in cars. >> and they're wearing like the Chanel big. glasses and like Jason picks her up in a. convertible. Like I was so enthralled. with that world and I couldn't even. imagine Cavaleri comes on the scene and. oh my god I was so obsessed with it. So.
I think it really like impacted who I. wanted to be. You know, >> you are and I want you to know in my. culture I think in our shared culture. this is the nicest thing I could say to. you. >> Oh god. You are as beautiful as Kristen. Cavaleri. >> I. >> Please accept these compliments from my. culture. >> You're gassing me up cuz you know I'm. not feeling great about my pregnant. You. know how I'm feeling. Thank you. >> I really believe that. I. >> You are as beautiful as Elsie. >> Thank you. >> We're feeling good today. >> Um how do we feel about dad talk?
>> Uh not not good. I don't like uh dads. Um uh I I don't I hate it. I hate dad. talk. >> It's it's. >> feels like you're riding on their. coattails and also you are mad at them. for the success that they have and for. the the income that they're bringing. into the home. Not only are you copying. it, you are then belittling them and you.
are angry at them that you didn't do it. first. I so agree with you. God, I'm mad. [ __ ]. We both start crying. Yeah. Um, okay. What dating show? Let's. pretend you're single. Your husband's. gone. Your kids don't exist. We're back. in the day, Jen. >> Okay. >> What dating show would you crush? Like, if you went on this, you're like, I. would be a rising star. >> H I love that.
>> I think um I think Love Island because. it's about the girlies. M. >> like cuz I wouldn't be able to be like. competitive with I would have to be like. if we're not friends I'm going to cry. >> Okay. And then you would feel good about. like pulling men for chats. Do you think. your chat game is strong? >> No. Oh, >> I don't think so. Um but I'm just trying. to imagine me in like Love is Blind. I've just like blacked out like the. wall. >> You're like are you getting. claustrophobic? >> The Revolutionary War. I used the I was.
just arguing with somebody. Oh yeah, because I wouldn't have my phone. So I. would have to argue with the person in. the wall next to me about historical. facts. >> I think you'd need to be like in person. in eye contact. >> In Love Island, they're like only. allowed two drinks or something. If if I. didn't have kids and this was And I'm in. I'm uncomfortable and I don't have my. phone. I Oh my god, I would have a. seizure from drinking so much. >> You're bringing in a flask. You're. hiding a flask in your drawer. You're.
having a good time. Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. I could see you on Love. Island. >> Thank you. >> Oh my god. You should totally do a. little like appearance. >> Okay. >> I mean like. >> No, no, no. I hear you. Great. I get it. >> Megan The Stallion came in and like. hosted a challenge. Do you think Do you. think you would ever do that? No. >> No. Okay. Okay. Okay. Should Amanda and. West have stayed on Summer House? >> Well, obviously I don't know the ins and. outs of their deal. Um, I think she said.
something like she was she was getting. like a a pay a pay dock or something. So, you know, that's I mean, yes, I want. I I want them to continue to be on the. show. Um, but I don't know what. I mean, God. It's just like. the just don't do that. There are other, you know, it's like if you if you have. those feelings, sit with it for a minute. Just just make.
other choices. It just, you don't, you. know, like if if if my friend came over. and like at like tomorrow, you know, if. my friend was like single and was like. dating a new guy and he walked in and I. was like, "Oh my god, this guy is so. hot.". You I you were just like, "Wow, that is. something that I feel." And you know, and then and life goes on. You know, the. last thing I'm going to do is act on. this. >> Literally the last thing. Andy Cohen. said that you helped him get to the. bottom of the Summerhouse reunion audio.
leak. Can you please explain? >> Um I can confirm. >> You can confirm, but you can't explain. Okay. So like you're you're. >> I I I did it in way everything was like. public information. It was it was. actually quite easy. You're in the. chats. You're in the channels. >> Yeah. I I I don't mind my own business. That's the thing about me. >> And we all love that. Okay. Who. is Chris Jenner's favorite daughter?
>> Me. >> But Kylie, I think. >> it's got to be Kylie. >> Yeah. >> It it oscillates between Kylie and Kim. Kylie and Kim. >> Yeah. Well, I don't know. Kendall's on. her lock screen or was. >> It should be Chloe. >> Well, Khloe's my favorite sister. Me, too. >> Yeah. >> Um, which reality TV reunion would you. be qualified to host? >> Um, be qualified to host? I don't I mean, none of them because I can't I I I.
wouldn't let any of them talk and I. wouldn't the men. >> Like, imagine if I was hosting the. Valley. >> Oh my god. >> Yeah. Danny, >> you're not couldn't sit with us. So, you. just kind of like sit there and just. take control. >> Yeah. >> And then like if a if a man tried to. speak, even if nobody else was speaking, I'd be like, I'm speaking. >> Shut up. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A man to go on reality. TV. It's a lot. >> Yeah. >> What is your housewife tagline?
>> You have to have thought about this. >> Um, my name's Jennifer and I can't mind. my own business. >> Love. Love. Um, which housewives fight. was peak reality TV? >> Um, Salt Lake City with the. receipts timeline. >> It was pretty good. Yeah. I I think also. the flipping of the table by Teresa, like you can never No. >> No. >> Because she she gets really fired up. It's kind of like Tamara. Like Tamara. >> freaks out about everything. So like. >> That's fair. Um Okay, we're closing out.
>> I want to ask a couple more things about. your hair care line. >> Okay. >> What do you think productwise is your. go-to favorite right now? my go-to favorite right now.
