Wannabe Politician Refuses Responsibility | Financial Audit
my name is Edwin I'm 26 years old I'm. based in Austin Texas and this is. financial audit this is a follow-up. episode you don't need to see the first. one cuz this is going to be like any. other Financial audit but first one is. linked below uh so welcome back thanks. for coming on this is. a a trees worth of favor work this is. crazy and also usually I do like an. analysis and stuff going through. people's uh stuff beforehand but for. follow-ups I like to kind of go into it. cold and see like do honest reactions to. it so thanks for coming on your last.
episode man okay so you didn't you. didn't really seem to know how much you. made after taxes that was a big thing. that was interesting one thing that I. hated hated hated hated it's like you. were using student loans to subsidize. you going out and purchase in my mind. fast food and when I pushed back on it. especially bird bird biscuit you were. bird bird biscuit man um when I pushed. back on that you're like well I have to. eat how do I eat you were taking out. student loans to pay for all this not.
necessarily just cuz my student loans. paid directly to my tuition so but do. you understand what I'm saying yeah if. you weren't spending all your money on. this bu you could put it towards school. but since you did not do that you had to. take out student loans it's mostly food. so I have to eat I just need a yeah you. have to eat you can get groceries I. could yeah and uh you know I think very. clearly groceries would be the answer so. I better see change on that man I better. see change on that um and uh the very. low balances in checking account is like. close to 100 bucks.
and um but one of the bright Parts where. you had a really affordable condo like. the loan you had on it that was really. cool um so in general I'm excited for. this since the stack is super thick I'm. a little nervous but how have things. gone since your initial episode well. since my initial episode which I was. still in graduate school I have finished. that uh prog thank you um it was a. little bit later than I anticipated I. think I mentioned I was going to finish. in May but I ended up finishing in July.
um with that being P me I think I'm. definitely at a point in my life where I. want to um look a little bit further. into the future as far as my goal of my. careers and uh eventually reach. Financial Freedom in terms of you know. my debt and um income and so um right. now I'm kind of like at a point where. I'm doing a life audit kind of. reevaluating what I want to do and this. financial audit is something that I I. think is going to help me kind of uh. with my plan for moving forward in terms. of finances because I know I have done a.
lot of frivolous funding over the last. two year Well actually I would say since. that I moved to Austin I think I I came. in with moving here to the city with I. think a decent understanding of Finance. in terms of knowing what I needed to do. in terms of like getting you know. getting my credit started even though I. I didn't really uh manage it well but I. think over the years now I've gotten a. better understanding of how to do that. and I'm really committed to wanting to. make change in terms of my life and I'm. really excited to see what um I can do. to to cut down what I what I don't need.
have you made change in your from the. initial audit well one of the things I. um that since then is I did receive a um. a slight pay raise what are you making. right now so right now I'm making about. $2,200 before taxes um but that comes. down to 1,700 roughly after taxes okay. per every every two weeks Okay cool so. 1700 bucks hits your account every two. weeks correct uh again for Austin it's a. I mean it's yeah it's definitely not.
where I would like to be but considering. I was making like $1,000 last time it's. definitely a little bit better $4,200 a. year after taxes but with that increase. I I guess I I've I I know I've gotten a. little bit into the habit of spending a. little bit more than I inflation you're. already spending more than you should. last time have you so it sounds like we. haven't improved on that well this is. going to help me get to where I want to. be in terms of improvement like I I need. to I feel like I need to why was last. time not enough cuz I wasn't making it. really enough money to to no no no what.
about your spending though your spending. was ridiculous bird B biscuit was your. thing bird B biscuit every day of your. life you're injecting in your veins. really close by well I did try out bird. bir biscuit afterwards I took my family. there and I went a few more times with. my friends it's incredible it's. delicious it's absolutely amazing my. filmographer refuses to go there I don't. know why he does not accept my. recommendations for food and it's very. annoying it's so good though it's so. good but you can't you couldn't afford. down yeah and it sounds like you.
lifestyle inflated yourself right to it. I mean that's something I'm cognizant of. and I'm trying to change and I think. with my with my dedication to this. change I I really feel like I I'm really. committed to this but dedication. starting today why did dedication not. happen before I'm trying to start for. the next for the coming year okay and I. know I know this is very something like. people you know say all the time in. terms of like you know starting fresh. but um I'm also and I guess I I was. going to come up I'm also like uh. officially as of last month a candidate. for city council district 7 so so whoa.
this coming year is going a really busy. year and I'm really a politician on. financial audit not officially but I'm. uh a candidate I'm going to see what I. you declared your candidacy yes but. there's as right now there's it's kind. of a crowded fear there's four other. people so I'm not you know hit you on on. you're running against an incumbent no. she's termed out the current um oh. what's the term limit eight years I. honestly uh I wish I knew more about our. local politics I know about some of the. like zoning things they do and stuff. like that cuz I follow that um but. that's very interesting um give him my.
shot see where it goes but so with that. in in mind going the next year I. definitely want to get very disciplined. about my life is just which is why I. said I want to get you know more advice. on what to do financially but also just. get a better understanding of what I. want to do because now that I've. finished school this is kind of my end. what did you graduate with what was your. Masters again officially was community. and Regional planning which is is kind. of like urban planning yeah and I got my. undergrad in urban studies so I've kind. of just always had this uh fascination. with cities and I'm like really into. like the local politics and. understanding how um City's work and.
reason why I'm also running for City. offic because I just love the city so. much and I you know care about its. future and I have a real connection with. um you know my experience here as for as. far as you know um this past some years. I've been here and so I'd like to make. some change I'll see if you get my vote. based on your personal finances I don't. know if you're in my district but that's. well. hypothetically what would you give. yourself right now score 0 to 10. finances being 100% honest right now. always yes and you know giving off.
given with what I just said as far as. you know where I've been I I think a. real score would probably be around. three okay let's take a look we have a. credit card not really a balance on this. no interest of screwing we spend money. on this but then we um pay it off but. what I am going to start doing is. calculating your spending so plus oh. wait no never mind we have all your. spending anyway so it doesn't even. matter I don't need to do that $25000. spend on here okay immediately so.
$3,400 Tyson's Tacos El Dorado Cafe. Domino's bird bird biscuit she's back. juice SL Fox Trot Whole Foods expensive. grocery uh El Dorado Cafe Austin. politics. net is that like a newspaper. yeah it's like a local news writer. nervous Charlie's bird bird biscuit. Tyson's tacos Papa John's El Dorado Cafe. spicy boys I love spicy boys as well I. don't know if I said that last time but. it it's good both of this is good I mean. you have good taste.
but okay well technically this doesn't. necessarily matter as long as it fits in. your 50 3020 and if you don't have bad. debt let's see we're paying it off we've. had fees this year so maybe this I don't. know I don't know this card personally. maybe it has fees no uh which one is it. Southwest Rapid Rewards yeah there like. a $69 annual fee okay there's a lot of. re like I'm trying to rack up rewards. with that card as far as um uh you. flighting and stuff well so far doing. that right let me just make it sure it. fits in your budget cuz that's what. scares me now we have another card and.
okay immediately you're not a credit. card person so it looks like you're kind. of paying this off but you didn't fully. so we had $27 of Interest acred we spent. $121 and we currently have a $147. balance on that I'd like to take a quick. moment to thank today's episode sponsor. Sofi we've had some guests on the show. that have a ton of student loan debt not. only did they owe a lot of money but the. interest rates were death student loans. are no joke and I get how overwhelmed in. they can feel to help alleviate the.

in the description below why why was. this not fully paid off why did you. allow yourself to acrw interest what was. the point yeah I mean I kind of weigh. that out sometimes with how much money I. have in my actual checkings like if I. know I always try to pay off everything. but if I know I'm coming up short in. terms of like I I have like a a kind of. minimum I like to keep and if if I can't. keep that I I'll just make a little a. little bit less if you can't keep that. minimum then we cannot afford Jason's. Deli Round Rock Donuts waterburger.
restaurant in be summer Moon Coffee. Starbucks Top Knots Chick-fil-A Whole. Foods for grocery shopping some social. house and Tom's Market well Tom's Market. that's a that's a you well I don't know. it's a $3 it's probably a taquito type. purchase drink exactly. $12.55 there was one thing one thing on. here one thing and it was HB of $16 that. I'm like okay the rest of the hundred uh. you know what was it 100.
$21 so okay no offense but if we cannot. afford to pay off the card we can't. afford to go to those places so if. you're looking for a new change first of. all you should have changed this from. last time I'm a little pissed that you. didn't to be completely honest cuz. you're a guest on this show I want you. to do well it will be good for your. future it'll make me look good you're. pissing me off why the not change I get. it dude fine change for the new year. that's great but why the you not. possibly change it cuz this is what I.
called out now I'll give you one point. of fairness not really you weren't from. the audience you came on Via a server. that we put on Facebook so you weren't. from the audience but it's cuz we like I. I don't have Facebook oh really you from. the audience yeah like I yeah like it. was like a Google form I sub oh well. never mind I'm wrong then you have no. excuses then you honestly that's F it's. fair so what why have you not changed. cuz that's like physically upsetting no. I mean a fair point I I will just say um.
like many people that come on here I I. think my diet is something I struggle. with in terms of like um eating out. that's definitely something I know is a. problem and um you going grocery. shopping is something that is something. that I um find a little bit overwhelming. but I'm like I said I'm I'm really. committed to wanting to change my life. in the coming year and so why is it. different in this coming year than this. past six or whatever months I'm I feel. like I'm at a point where I can just.
like kind of start fresh now with like. schooling behind me and kind of starting. like a new job like this is like a point. and you know declaring my candidacy like. I really feel like this is the point. where I can get serious about what I. want to do for the next 10 years and so. um yeah I will admit you know I didn't. change very much from the last time and. U but these are at least and like I said. I'm able to recognize these problems and. at least say that I'm willing to work. towards them I know that's not enough. but I if I ever come back on here which. um if I make progress I hope that I can. um but as of right now like I know like. I my my eating habits are not great and.
they're not at least it doesn't do this. to you like it does to. me you bike I should bike it's fun see. it helps with your uh movement. $241 188 spent on the quick silver card. this is paid off though so we don't have. we're not acre interest on this. restaurant and B JuiceLand Michi pizza. press top and hot this is crazy this is. only the third card when we have 1,000. cards to go through juand p carries uh B.
coffee Panera Bread restaurant and be. topnotch Chick-fil-A B coffee. Thunderbird Taquito cuz you're it's $2. 7eleven the pizza press in and out it's. why even eat it more taquitos brenwood. social Chick-fil-A juice land uh this. looks like this one was actually gas. okay thank goodness but bonu coffee is. not and B coffee is not I haven't got in. B and I probably won't because I've been. having lot of trouble with their Wi-Fi. so at least that's so that's what's.
going to do it is the Wi-Fi not that you. just can't afford it total interest. charge here $22 on this card so it. wasn't in the statement but you're not a. credit person if you're having any. interest recruit I'm sorry so this how. it works $22 in interest I've paid this. year is that what okay on this card. alone buddy okay so we wake up we get. coffee from a place minimum once a day. then we get juice land plus a lunch. minimum once a day probably and then we. get dinner and some social thing minimum.
once a day is this is insanity I. actually want to invest in like a coffee. machine cuz that's something that I yese. would help dude I make great coffee out. there a brevel brevel yeah I do espresso. then I frost up some milk and use like a. caramel or hazelnut syrup or something. like that it's good and I get good beans. and it's still much much much cheaper. than what you're doing you have a nice. little condo that you spent money on. enjoy its existence instead of coffee. shop oh airm what are you farming $764.
for yeah so uh since I moved into this. uh condo last year I've kind of been. accumulating my college furniture and. with this increase I thought I could. afford some new furniture which I will. say at least like I bought it on Black. Friday so it was heavily discounted and. I what is it like couch table. bed kind of just general. Furniture um and I mean I'm trying to. sell what I have now for whatever I can.
get and put that towards the debt so. it's not as large yes so there's a some. kind of plan on that but what's your. interest on here it's not telling me. it's not interest it's just like a. interest free as long as you pay it off. within the whatever payment yeah okay. now we have a Capital One Venture you. have every credit card known in the. existence of Humanity on here we. purchased $1. 16989 but again we are doing the. payments and 100 interest at least on.
this here we go shall we summer Moon. Pete teres juice land some Mexican place. Einstein's which is another what it's a. bagel place right yeah ketos uh actual. gas potentially uh Chick-fil-A in and. out Central Market expensive way to. grocery shop Central Market expensive. way to grocery shop pizza press pizza. press B coffee Thunderbird and. Chick-fil-A kill me foodie I'm a foodie. foodie you you you have some good taste. but most of this is just fast.
food wait till your metabolism dies like. yours then you're going to just be a fat. me hopefully not oh I know it's not. thrilling correct it now before that. metabolism. dies uh. 17228 of Capital One savior again not a. curent interest but the spending remains. brenwood social Taco Bell in and out. Taquito Radio Coffee. oh Taco Bell Taquito PES topnotch Car.
Wash you bike most of the time why car. wash it doesn't even matter who gives. it. burritos and man what is this so This. Exxon and then shell you got a lot of. gas yeah I was I went back home during. that time like I visiter in the the. Thanksgiving which St Falls okay so yeah. that's a certainly a drive no interest. group this year so far thank you for. this card thank.
you is this what is oh this is your. condo thank goodness let's get the condo. back on the books at 3,000 great balance. for Austin I know you took advantage of. like a special place and isn't like a. one-bedroom type thing or something a. studio for Studio I mean it worked for. me it worked for me like I don't leave. alone it does it's just like I wonder. how hard that's going to be to sell in. the future well it's a income restricted. yeah unit so like there's I mean I. bought the unit for $106,000 and the. first person bought for 99,000 like.
there's going to be someone that's going. to pay well maybe we don't know where. the Market's going to take it well it's. actually it's not it's not it doesn't um. increase in value like like the market. in terms of it has a mandatory it. increases 2% every year I believe. mandatory there was actually a formula. that's used to calculate the um blinking. out the uh well that's kind of a bummer. of real yeah I mean I'm not I didn't buy. it for to make a a profit on it it's. literally just because it was really. cheap and it was a lot less than what I. was paying for rent so it's true it's.
$757 a month and. 74 um you don't people don't need to. purchase real estate for the gain but in. the end it becomes like one of their. largest assets yeah which is good and. this this isn't going to help you on. that if real estate is appreciating. Across the Nation like four 3 to 4% a. year on average um I am good with the. interest rate on. here right before the interest rates. were starting to increase in May 2022. yeah yeah three two bath they're like. easier to sell and there might there.
will probably be someone like you in the. future who will want to buy this from me. when you get into a place that's you. know potentially larger but being. restricted at 2% gain a year that's. that's that's that's the bummer but okay. it is what it. is Apple card current balance 161 $24 of. charges just charges year so far 18. bucks but you did not charge it in the. statement so let's take a look what were. we doing there I bet it's not going to. come to a surprise is it I mean all my. credit cards I used for food. so you go out more to eat than anyone.
I've ever seen in the history of the. world I mean yeah I don't cook at all. right now but I'm willing to change that. like I I you have to I'm going to like. I'm I'm committed to changing this. really bad habit I hope so cuz this is. quite the habit to break because this is. like more than like anyone eats out. nervous Charlie's bird bird biscuit an. apple Bell of some kind Papa. John's and what you're eating out to is. just really not healthy it's really. what's close to me so it's just like. especially now with not a car without. not having a car it's just like whatever.
well we'll get into that yeah water bger. bird bird biscuit juice land Brom store. Bram store it's like a a burger place up. in my. hometown Frank and Joe's Coffee L nindo. bonu coffee Michi coffee see oh oh. that's actually gas okay Taco Bell and. Chick-fil-A I I shall we get to the. Lowe's carard now that's completely paid. off there's nothing on that but good.
yeah I'm not going are you spending at. all interested AC crew on it but then. you did pay off good yeah and I that was. initially just I got that to uh pay off. or to get a refrigerator and zero. interest so I just kind of hold over and. if I ever need anything for like my my. place repair wise or I try to just put. it on that and pay it off then okay and. interest is AC crewing on the disc. Discover Card why just another one of. those situations you didn't have the. money necessary to pay off the full. balance that means you're spending money. you cannot afford then that's true so we.
spent on here. $224. 22491 and shocker to No. One PayPal pain I don't Jon's Deli and. taquitos and pizza press and Chick-fil-A. raisin canes taquitos the Aristocrat Inn. out crap Chick-fil-A and restaurant and. bar and. toito interest of crewing on the. American Express Blue card as well how.
much is. $392 okay well the thing with my. interest is like I I do know it AC. cruise but like I I kind of justify it. with it not being a lot and so that's. something I I I don't want to pay any. more interest over the it's all the it's. the it's the small Cuts small cuts it. adds up man and then it just takes you. down in the end $149 of purchases and. these are the small Cuts cuz they don't. sound like massive amounts but you add. them up across so far 1 2 3 4 5 6 seven. eight different cards of which you're.
spending money kill me Ray Raymond. that's my. haircut okay genuine genuine Joe. certainly not a haircut cuz that is a. coffee house and Pizza Express and. JuiceLand my goodness JuiceLand is your. favorite thing in the world and so is. coffee and so is bird bir biscuit and. veric Cru tacos P Terry's. Burgers almost 50 bucks of Interest. still in from you this year so far on. this card again it's adding up good good. well a 0% card but we're holding an.
aggressive balance of 1,300 on it yeah. so that is actually the my. bike really yeah I got a bike back. because this is the third bike I've had. previously were stol and uh with this. bike it was an electric bike and the. reason I got it um and why it was pretty. expensive was because the city was has a. rebate program and so um depending on. how much you spend on it they rebate um. has it been rebated yet yeah I got I.
spent like around $2,000 this after yeah. great well the thing is I spent $2,000. on the bike and then they rebate baited. me $600 um did you put it towards us. immediately 100 yeah it's all in there. but one of the things that I wasn't. expecting that I in some ways Splurge. but I also found necessary was like I. bought a a really expensive log like a. $400 expensive log this is because of my. previous experience you know having my. bike on but also um it just madebe give. me piece of Mind knowing that if I going. to spend that much money on a bike that. at least it's secure and so not only. that but have you looked around are. there insurances potentially I I haven't.
looked around too much in it and that's. one that I was contemplating with like. my bike got sing cuz it was from my you. know where I live um but someone just. broke the lock and so I wanted was. thinking about finding a claim but you. know the electric bike part is not going. to help the caloric part as much anymore. well I mean yeah I that's why I try I'm. doing longer distances now but it's. really because Austin's kind of hilly. and some places it's it really helps to. have that extra push when you're going. uphill yes absolutely yeah especially if. you're were like full on in the Hill. Country West part that would be. when does the 0% interest period end do.
you remember so I got that card right. when I I mean I got it for that purpose. and I think I've had I got it back I. think it's a year when'd you get it then. I got it in like March or February maybe. March that's coming up soon that's a big. balance for someone who can't fully pay. off their credit cards well the thing is. I'm also hoping in like my tax returns. student loans tax returns well yeah I'm. going to put like a good chunk towards. that balance and hopefully just any. extra you think you're getting a good. amount back your withholdings are too. much um I no I think I'm making like I. made like $10,000 more this year than I.
did last year so I think it's relatively. going to be the same amount time uh oh. interest is a creu went on these student. loans $960 of Interest that's exactly. what I want to start looking at because. I know I need to get that $. 53,9 is what's owed have your payments. uh so because you just graduated you're. probably still in a deferral my graduate. school loans are in the grace period but. my undergraduate school I mean my. undergrad loans are are in repayment.
when's the grace period done for your. graduate 6 months so I finished it's. probably like that's yeah February. that's why I'm like I'm going to get. aggressive about this in the com what's. your current minim monthy payment you. know I don't have I'm not paying. anything right now like in general but I. thought you said your undergrad have. started they're in repayment but I get. an email that says I I think my payment. is zero so I'm just not paying I don't. you you probably yeah that's what I'm. saying I I I don't really really know. how to start like also like if I should.
start paying my graduate school loans. even though they're not they have. because they have the highest interest. but my underground loans are what's you. know acre interest probably have a $600. minimum monthly payment and a standard. 10 year now you work for a nonprofit. correct correct yes do you plan on. continuing to work for this nonprofit. for the amount of years required to get. this forgiven under not in particular. but I wouldn't be I think you just have. to have nonprofit service for the time. being as far as like um in general like. as long as it's 20 years or whatever the. the limit is like if you can prove that.
you're in the nonprofit employed by. nonprofit but are you going to be the. I'm I'm open to that yeah but I'm not. open to it see this sounds like we're. not 100% concrete which makes where I'm. at right now it's just because like I. don't know what the future holds but I. mean for the time being we can say yes. like that's fine I don't well if in if. that case then I want to start making. because the interest is still AC crewing. on it the the the only way to go through. forgiveness in that way is if we know. 100% sure we're going to go that route. so we allow interest to acrw during this. time and then it gets forgiven if you do. not know then I would rather you get on. the the standard 10e repayment plan and.
then we know we're at least knocking it. out now income base your income's not. incredibly high for the area I've been. looking into like the save progr there. is there is potentially that option now. what makes me a little more nervous with. that is historically a lot of the. Forgiveness things that okay for example. the public student loan forgiveness um. yeah I'm not counting on that well that. okay it's forgiveness odds the numbers. are a little skewed because a lot of. people have applied for it that just. don't qualify so to me makes it look. like a lot of people less people are. forgiven uh than statistically were for.
people who qualify for it but either way. it still wasn't great rates now the. current Administration it's been better. what if the next Administration whoever. it might be you know what if by the time. you are qualified for whatever. forgiveness they're like oh just the. secretary of education is just like. we're not doing that right now yeah I. mean there's and there's history of the. their of them lagging their or dragging. their feet on that issue as far as you. know for so I'm not I'm not counting on. that it'd be great but that's why I want. to get it paid down as soon as possible.
even though I will say like I talked to. my friend yesterday and he's and he. started the save program and he. mentioned that he like if he makes the. minimum monthly payment with the save. program he would only end up paying like. a little bit like maybe a couple. thousand dollars more and has it. forgiven it gets forgiven yeah well if. it doesn't your interest is occurring. dramatically during that entire time. because your balance your overall. balance isn't being decreased okay and. that's what makes me a little nervous so. there's a there's a risk profile there. my thing is yes absolutely if you cannot.
afford to pay it take advantage of the. programs if there's things that have. good track records and it's really hard. but if there's things that have good. track records of forgiveness take. advantage of it for you if we don't know. exactly 100% what we're going to do I. mean right now we're running from public. office so it's just like we obviously. don't know exactly where we're going to. land to lower your risk profile for the. remainder of your life I think it makes. sense to be more traditional 10year $600. month payment okay. uh well let's take a look at the. interest uh that are on these loans cuz.
that's also going to 7% 54 54 more than. five okay so you have one that's uh High. interest that's $112,000 so that I'm. going to write a note for that the first. year on my graduate student like they. cover like a full year basically for. tuition yeah so I might want to attack. that one first but then the rest of you. might want a minimum monthy payment to. we're not paid off till we're paid off. so we can catch up on investing but I'm. not 100% sure again we got to get. through all of the paperwork and there's. all a lot of. paperwork oh have we gotten through your.
credit cards I think we have yeah. wonderful so credit card. spending it's it's an entire paycheck. yeah I know of just what you're putting. on there I'm I need to cut it out and. I'm going I'm going to and this is you. know I know talk is cheap until you do. it so yeah I happy to check in in next. year exactly next year we'll see whether. I win or lose but um and see where I'm. at and see if I really you know made.
word I'm really trying to make a change. so dude this is really no longer a. choice is the thing I know yeah I have. to yeah especially with my loans coming. up that's why the reason why I was. really wanting to come here cuz I really. want to have a game plan for how I want. to attack this yeah for sure one of the. chicken accounts were ending with 84. bucks in yeah it's not. great Howard it's gas Chick-fil-A and. then gas yeah Chick-fil-A is not gas but. the other one is gas so we had more fast. food spending there okay $26 in this.
checkin account that is better than last. time it was like 100 bucks so my primary. checking account right now but I'm going. to be switching it over to the chase one. because Finance reasons like campaign. like my campaign account is in. that account or it's with Capital One. how do you think you're uh how do you. think you're doing against the three. other contenders what still pretty early. on to really say as far as um like are. any of them like big local names though. yeah I mean there's definitely the the. number it's going to be an uphill battle. like I know it's not going to be an easy. I'm not really going in that I'm going. to thinking I'm going to win but yeah. there is actually like a someone that is.
has high name recognition because he ran. for congress twice but he lost but who. uh he's a de he's the de Democratic. nominee for the congressional district. 10 or 30 yeah 10 who do you know his. name I don't want to say his name oh if. you know you know but oh I feel like I. would recognize the name well if you. know I don't want to say his name well I. just don't know the district per. District but it's okay yeah District I. mean if you want to check out you know. but he lost his Congressional races. should have tried to stay pretty aware. at least on who were sending the.
Congress but I mean he was going up. against like Mike Mcall so he I mean he. was incumbent and he's you know. Republican he was trying to flip the. district because it was like North it. was the district that man from like. North Austin to San Antonio very. gerrymandered and so he was like you. know it is what it is but I think I. lived in that District before yeah like. I said it's going to be an uphill battle. but I'm I'm going to give him my best um. like I said I'm not going think I'm. going to win but hopefully I can create. some change with my campaign okay so act. blue that's a campaign account yeah and. that's like my friend doing like a test. donation so it was just kind of like do.
City Council Members run as a party no. it's on partisan okay yeah but you're. clearly running on the left side though. I take it yeah but I don't like labels. so but if you have to put one on it I'd. like I like the dino label Democrat name. only gotcha I don't do politics here on. this show because it should be for. anyone but it's good to know that where. you're running from 488 in our Chase uh. Spotify. it used to be free I me I remember those.
days uh it's five bucks you're still on. the student plan no you're not no you're. not you're on 11 bucks um if we can. afford it I will allow it I don't know. if we can let's. see I think with these $12 yeah that's. another reason why I want to switch over. to that account to using that checking. because like when I have my direct. deposit um into account it won't they. charge a fee if if it's below $1,500 and. so I I've been looking at that for so. long I'm I'm not sure why hav why I. waited so long balance is high enough on. here to make sure the other you weren't.
not crewing interest though what do you. mean on your on your credit cards it's. silly off yeah well I mean yeah and in. some ways like I'm trying to also build. like a little reserve for any kind of I. know it's not really like a emergency. fund right now but just in case anything. happened that's kind of why there's a. high balance on that you had a late. payment fee 72 cents why is it not just. on auto pay well that's kind of go I've. been have getting in this habit of and. I'm going to try to not do this because. I hopefully I have enough money but um. usually with that electricity bill I've. been paint it in half um because I just.
don't have the funds where does it go. credit card payments no where does the. spending Go I mean the spending goes. where it shouldn't go to bird bird. Biscuit Goes to food have you accepted. I'm curious from the last time where. you're like but I need to eat have you. realized that you were just wrong as. absolute it's a fair argument like I I'm. not going to say are you wrong on that. were you wrong that I Justified my. spending with that you need to eat at. restaurants for your I don't think I. need to eat at restaurants because what.
we did we're going to put you through. the budgeting program that we made and. that's going to help you immensely and. what we have on there is a grocery store. list uh a meal prepping plan that you. can do with HB what I recommend for you. cuz you're local HB pickup whatever your. meal prepping is and whatever you're. cooking uh well pickup I I mean I. actually live like literally 2 minutes. away from HB so you can still do a. pickup on your bike but e either way you. you figure out what you need to do you. place your order in the grocery car. online you can sort cheapest the most. expensive so you get your whatever you. need for your meal prepping that you've.
done the cheapest version versus like. the name brand crap you pick it up we. did 200,000 two uh 2,500 calories a day. desserts fun meals all that stuff 250. bucks for a single person on a monthly. basis I know I know it's possible to. really cut down a lot of my spending if. I meal prep which is another reason why. I'm saying I'm really committed to. cutting down on this because I know a. lot too much of my spending goes to food. right now and that's something I really. want to put towards my debt yeah it. would be an 85% reduction in your.
current food spending well at least just. from the credit cards and I live close. enough that I can go to a grocery store. pretty often that it's not an issue for. me even not having a car I think it's. it's just my lack of you know. willingness until now yeah let's UFCU. that's just another checking account I. had to open one whenever I got my. mortgage so it's just I've been thinking. about closing that and just transferring. the money to either my savings or paying. off debt but I don't really know what to. do with that Fidelity 120 bucks so yeah. so that's kind of like interesting as. far as the reason I even have a Fidelity.
count is because I used to work at. Starbucks when I moved to Austin and I I. and their benefits packages were through. Fidelity and I bought one stock that. I've held on since then and what is it. it's the Starbucks stock right which I. bought it for $50 and it peaked at like. $150 but now it's like a $96 so I I just. think about like how much I probably. would have had if I bought more stock. back then but and then ancord to 62 yeah. I personally switched toora cuz there's. a match that they provide it takes a. while to vest what is it uh Vora so it's.
it's it Vora V A it it's just like. acorns in terms of it does like its Auto. invest into like these you know broader. portfolios but then after a couple years. like a 2% match vests so it's pretty. cool so there's a little yeah I mean it. takes a while but you're investing for. the long term anyway you're not putting. in acorns for tomorrow right you're. putting it in for I don't have an actual. retirement so it's kind of like me. trying to do something. and that's what scares me about this. spending so for housing total utilities.
and everything we got about 1,49 which. is pretty good but that's almost half. your paycheck and then of course food. going out to eat 1048 and then uh ta. kidos that which is like Quick Shops and. everything we're getting like 13.4% or. $427 eating out was $32 housing was 30. or 32% housing was 32% so food and. housing is the same that's ridiculous. necessary food. 3.7% other large purchases 6% let's see.
where these large purchases are looking. hey guys just to let you know we're. uploading an exclusive Financial audit. on patreon this Sunday you get an. exclusive audit there uncensored that. will be found nowhere else every other. Sunday everything made from our patreon. goes directly to our employees now back. to the episode PayPal what you sent out. from. PayPal W lot and Ray Raymond haircut and. then the things for my campaign oh yeah. translation software yes then putting.
money towards debt debt that you need to. pay off was only. 6.3% where again 32% went EA enough to. eat Taquito. 13.4% so I mean your solution isn't. overly complicated it's like it's. possible like it's I can I just got to. set my mind to it and yeah it's just. kind of comes down to discipline and. maturity when it comes to where we want. our money to go to which again it just. concerns me we already we've had this. conversation already I'm what's going to. be different this time other than the. year changes like wooo yeah no that. that's fair I I definitely understand.
that this is something that um is hard. to believe right now but I I like to. think that like with getting to school. and getting out of that student kind of. Lifestyle where you kind of are almost. not first of all cooking but also just. like that lifestyle you chose yeah I. mean that's fair but it's also just. something that is going to take a little. bit of of time to kind of get out of and. I'm I'm ready to like I I want a adult. and. um you know move forward in my life and. this is something that I know is going.
to be difficult but I'm also just ready. ready to get to that point of like. looking back and saying I did that and. you know hopefully motivating other. people to do the same because I know. it's one of the reasons I started. watching your channel in the begin was. just because I really didn't know too. much about what to do financially as far. as um setting my goals but also. just understanding like why I do what I. do in terms of spending habits and at. least talking through this is going to.
give me some kind of reassurance that I. you know I am capable of of the. solutions and I I just got to set my. mind to it and did you not care last. time and you care this time well to be. quite Frank with you last time I just. felt like you were not 100% prepared for. our meeting in terms of you had someone. like before me that took a while so I. was waiting for a while but also I don't. I don't know that you reviewed my. statements no we did well like you did. in person but as far as like um like. what was said to me it wasn't anything. new that I didn't know I knew my.
spending back then obviously like it was. still on like food but I just didn't get. any like clear guidance I thought or. advice as far as like you sure as far as. like what to move forward as that I. remember right now that I can say you. know I haven't watched the video but I. from like our conversation like there. was just nothing that was new to me as. far as like tangible like now I at least. can like you say you're can offer me. like a budget or some kind of way of. like planning how to get out of this. whole well I went I watched the video. before this and it it felt pretty.
concrete to me but I think so what do. you mean like in terms of like buddy do. this I know I was in the wrong this why. I came to you in the first was like I I. knew I I wanted to do something about it. but I also like because of like you know. my my student stats at the time and. making even less than I was making I. just I knew I wasn't in the right. mindset to even um but you didn't follow. what I said at all like if you followed. what I said your life would be a lot. better today financially speaking so I. mean I gave you some guidance now in. terms of being prepared I'll say this I. i' I heard another guest say they felt. like um like oh we're doing everything.
last minute no we do the prepar we do. the preparation beforehand but before. the guest comes on we print off physical. statements and highlight what to say out. but we have like the math and where they. did everything beforehand is that wasn't. there before last time which is one we. didn't have the graph but we had the. knowledge of the numbers uh but we. didn't have the physical graph that's. been a fun little upgrade uh so no but. then we highlight before uh talking to. them just for things to call out but in. terms of you know we don't need the. physical documents printed off to do the. analysis beforehand CU we have.
everything digitally so no we're. definitely prepared and um it just may. not have been the guidance you wanted. but if you followed what we talked about. we wouldn't be having this conversation. today we would be having a celebration. which we better be having next time next. next year yeah you better because this. was this is quite upsetting to see I. want to see some progress my dude I do. too did you join the guest Discord uh I. tried to no I didn't because the link. expired when I oh you should have just. like been give me a new link I I'm new. to Discord too like I'm trying to I.
don't know okay well definitely go. through the buding program I mean you. you um we we gave instructions of how to. get it last time hopefully you got it. some went to spam I don't know but we'll. definitely make sure you get it if not. but every past guest gets access to it. as well and join the Discord keep each. other accountable there's like you can. post your wins you can post your fails. you can ask questions keep each other. accountable um okay so we obviously have. the condo at. $757 we have debt minimum monthly. payments with your student loans. included 767 once you get on the.
traditional tenure just because you. don't know where you're going to go and. I don't want interest to be crewing. forever and have you not take advantage. of any kind of forgiveness program okay. utilities City of Austin utilities 94. there internet was. 40. HOA it's going to rise up to $102 in the. coming year good to know sucks though. kind of associations are kind of. brutal water. is well actually just housing all. together with um internet being.
$4.20 utilities 9448 Waters. 65 uh 68 mortgage. 5772 and then HOA is now going to be 102. so let's figure out what your. new you said it's going to be what now. 102. yeah okay so mortgage and just all that. Bine is.
$1,601 not. bad not bad it's close to half your. income unfortunately I think you you. just might want to utilize our degree. for a higher income job which might mean. leaving nonprofit I'm not sure yeah I. mean that's the goal it's to definitely. earn a little bit more as far as income. but I I mean the job market right now is. not great and depends where and for my I. mean for my degree sorry depends. industry yeah I mean I don't want to I. can't I don't know if I I can't really. work for the city right now that's a big.
employer obviously in my field uh. okay tolls I wouldn't be taking tolls. you don't need that Jeffy L obviously. that makes sense this is something you. need there oh I was going to say gas was. 113 so okay what happened to the car the. transmission went out it's a no problem. with my car do you need a car I don't. need a car I actually lived in Austin. the first year I lived in Austin I came. without a car because is um it was like. $100 extra to park your car in the. garage and I couldn't afford that and so.
I had the experience and I'm not opposed. to not having a car I only really use it. if I'm going long distance like back. home and I can I'm flown there it's just. okay it's possible I just have to do. more coordination well I want you to get. a car eventually but it actually might. be kind of a blessing that we don't have. one right now if you can have without it. Urgent Care $10 is that going to be just. ongoing no no cuz I I think I mean I now. I don't have healthare through my. employer as of forun as that isance. don't have insurance no and those. healthcare costs are like you know my I.
guess whatever are you on the exchanges. yeah is that Obamacare like okay what's. your minimum monthly for that what do. you oh a dollar going into next year the. $20 was for December I just that's a. dollar a month yeah cuz my credit was. like 200 like $300 and my the plan I. chose was like. $300 okay but it also it's like just. like covers co-pays and like ATM. withdraws $300 and where the that. was um and then you charge your your. bike at home such just goes to your. electricity bill perfect groceries I.
know you can do $300 a month you're. going to hate it it's going to take time. I'm sorry toilet paper fund what you. need extra to survive at home giving you. $100 subscriptions this is because of. your campaign stuff that you're trying. to do I'm try I'm going to give you 40. bucks. okay okay um phone bill as of right now. I'm not paying my phone bill um which is. something that you know I I'm trying to. Wayan off of my parents like what.
they're what they're paying is just my. phone bill and car insurance um but like. I'm taking more financial responsibility. so that's something I'm going to be. trying to get into within the next year. as far as paying but as of right now I'm. not paying for that okay you know I'm. going to be honest and you you you might. hate this but you know I'm just honest. and forward and have no filter um I'm. but I do feel bad about. this I'm sure at some point it would. work maybe you'd be good maybe you'd be. bad I don't know your uh politics I.
don't care this is regard if you're a. republican Democrat libertarian whatever. I do not. care I already pay so much in property. taxes to the city and you can't manage. your own personal finances I would have. a hard time voting for someone who's. going to manage the city's finances of. which I pay way too much in property. taxes to to someone who can't manage. their own personal finances well I would. definitely push back on you with that as. far as like first of all public finan is. a lot different than personal finan you. can't even manage your own but also I. have you have to understand that I'm not. coming from an individually wealth like.
uh I'm not individually wealthy to the. point where Public Finance is going to. be something that. is directly correlated with how my. performance is at least to the point. where I'm financially stable i' I think. i' I'm at a point where I I can say it's. not as stable as I'd like to be but I. and you're paying interest it's not a. lot of interest doesn't matter I'm not. paying hundreds of dolls like previous. people so I know my spend hundreds of. dollars a year compared to maybe. thousands of other with other people.
like I know my not being the worst of. the worst doesn't make you good though. but it's not also it's something that. you can just base off of me my character. and what I stand for as far as like my. finances no I specifically said it's not. based off of your opinions CU I don't. know your opinions you're kind of. characterizing me when you say that. you're trying to judge my governance. based off of how I manage I'm just. saying as someone who pays a lot in. property taxes I would personally have a. hard time voting for someone who can't. manage their own personal finances when. they have to when they have to manage.
then the finances that I'm forced to pay. just because how public financing Works. how cities have to rely on property tax. to fund purposes and this is something. that's been accumulated from previous. generations like your whatever the. city's going on it's been a result of. previous you know councils sure but. you're going to be the one making the. decisions exactly and I and the reason. why I'm here is because I'm trying to. get better myself so if I wasn't here I. I don't think I you could have a. stronger argum course that's why I said. it all out there for people and like. encourage them to make a difference I. think that is at least going to give me.
some credibility to say that I have some. absolutely knowledge of what I'm doing. absolutely and that's why I said in the. future maybe yeah um because being good. at personal finances is not indicative. of uh that doesn't necessarily mean. you're qualified to run uh you know. Federal city state finances I'm not. saying I'm not saying being good at that. is immediately like you're qualified but. if we're not good at it that's certainly. not a benefit. yeah and I do I I agree with you and as. far as like you know just kind of like. um last kind of commun far as far as.
politics go and know we don't I get into. it but I just want to at least point to. the fact that one of the reasons why. there there's not as accurate rep. representation in terms of local even. state or federal representation is. because people that are financially. unstable aren't people running for. office and so with me running you even. at a young age of 26 like I know I'm. like I said facing an uphill battle but. um this is something I care about and. something I want to you know do so if if. it comes you know to the point where my. finances are going to be financially.
strained and I you know suspending the. campaign is definitely an option but I'm. hoping to get better to the point where. I can feel comfortable that I can run a. campaign and like I said I have some. knowledge as far as public financing. goes and I'm not completely you know. unknown to that fact but I just I I know. that I want to get better and this is. something that I hope can help me get. there and so hey as long as you build. the train system in under 20 years I'll. be happy I mean there's already people. trying to Su to stop that I've been. falling um okay easy um let's think what.
else so you don't pay for your phone. bill subscriptions gave you 40 bucks to. paper on food your minimum monly debt. payments your condo we don't have a car. so we don't have car insurance so we. don't have gas um anything else you need. to survive on a monthly basis do you. have ongoing medical expenses at all no. prescriptions anything okay well that's. kind of like no I don't but it's just. like I I I don't know if I'm going to be. paying because I just recently switched. Healthcare like yeah I I'll give you $1. for that probably if anything maybe $20.
but okay yeah let's say 20 bucks yeah. I'll say 20 bucks cool I mean it's good. to uh figure some things out add. anything else I don't think so I think. that's what you are required to have in. order to survive so let's see where your. monthly minimum budget required to. Sandos I did tell you you weren't going. to like that wait we repeat that one. more time I said I did tell you you. weren't gon to like that what like what. uh that that previous conversation that. we just had oh I mean no it's fine like. I'm definitely always happy to explain. my position and you know open to other.
people's perspectives yeah for sure but. also one of the things I'm I'm looking. for and that that I whereas I came is. like in some ways tough love for me is. one way to um. really progress even though I know you. you last time like it's just like I I. need a little bit of a push to kind of. get me there and with the game plan like. I said I'm I'm hoping that I can really. make the change yeah I have the. conversations in the exact way that. personally helps me it might not help. other people and to them I say don't. come on the show then yeah and if it.
does help you come on like you and it's. awesome and I respect the out of you for. being here it's really cool you're. trying to improve your own life and. you're putting your situation on display. that other people might relate to and. it's it's awesome so you deserve credit. for that. absolutely okay. $2,287 is what you need to survive on a. monthly basis. congratulations we make more than that. hey guys so for my brokerage outside of. my traditional retirement account when. I'm doing my single stock picks and just. overall brokerage moves I switched over. to Mumu and they're actually upping.
their bonus from $400 to up to $5,000. when you transfer over to Mumu using my. link in the description below I've been. using them for a few months now before I. recommended them because I just want to. make sure I'm recommending the best. platform possible and honestly I've kind. of fallen in love with using it and the. best part is when you deposit money into. your Mumu account and you're not ready. to invest yet you get 5.1% on your money. so it's a pretty incredible platform to. try so feel free to try it in the link. below okay so I mean this is good this.
means of the 3,400 that hits our account. on a monthly basis we have an extra. 1,100 uh 12. $1,125 on a monthly basis left over if. you follow the budget we laid okay now. there's going to be a transitionary. period I don't want you to not ever have. coffee again I don't want you to never. have this stuff because we have a little. more wiggle room I am going to allow. $252 a month on coffee going out to eat.
whatever that is it fund I would put. that in a envelope okay and I would only. spend the cash from that envelope on. that and if that envelope all of a. sudden has no more money in it then we. don't get to do any of that for the rest. of the month that's just is it's called. the envelope system it's a good way to. just you know really manage it plus once. you go through our program I think. that's going to help a lot as well but. so this is what I'm going to do month. number one cuz oh crap and our savings. we had nothing right I mean it's. whatever's am I taking right now so okay. first two months I'm saving up a one.
month emergency fund boom then you have. what's required to survive for a month. if anything happens so that's the first. two months month number three I'm. killing a firm it's fully done just to. get rid of extra minimum monthy payments. in our life what do you mean like just. pay it off pay off just so it gives us. an extra $127 a month to play with so. now we have. $1,127 that we can throw towards things. on a monthly basis actually you know I. just realized there's actually one I. sent it in but it's not in your. calculations that I I don't it's another. credit card for furniture that I how.
much is out on it. 1100 what's the minimum monthly payment. I haven't gotten the statement yet cuz I. just got it like a couple weeks ago but. I mean I I want to make more than. monthly than the minimum but I'm maybe. aiming for like 80 is it 0% yeah okay. you're going to have to take that from. your fast food fund and whatever's left. over is in fast food fun I know it's. something I so from there the next month. I'm paying off. that card so that's month number four. that card's paid off. easily month after that with the minimum.
monthly payments that have been going. towards the Freedom Card and spending no. more money on the Freedom Card uh month. number five Freedom Card should P be. paid. off freedom is paid off by main yeah. okay yeah we have an extra at this point. [Music]. $1,627 on a monthly basis left over. because minimum monthly payments are now. going towards leftover fund instead of. Lifestyle inflation and spending more. money on things we.
want of the. $3,960 on student loans it'll pro it'll. probably be like if you switch to the. normal repayment plan it will probably. be like. $52,000 left divide that by. 1627 that takes crap yeah that takes two. and a half years to pay off this that's. not that bad compared to 10 years yeah. that takes two and a half years to. payoff what wait the 53,000 no mhm if. you if you put 1,627 towards it towards.
it on a monthly basis in two years two. and a half two and a half years well 2.6. okay how $1,000 every month toward. student loan 1,627 ,600 which is what. you have left over after you pay off the. affirm and the Freedom Card and the. furniture card May once in May okay okay. so we're talking a full three years from. today yes yeah that's not bad now what. is rough is other than the $112 that you. get to go towards uh fast food we're.
really not having paid for fun we're not. having paid for fun for three years and. I think that's going to be incredibly. difficult for you not well I mean it's. going be difficult I will say but I. think one of the things that I think I. can say with with like certainty is that. you know coming from a low-income. background moving to Austin Texas in. 2016 um I really struggled to live here. in general like you know Finding rent I. had a really uh traumatic experience as. far as securing housing but um I lived. in the city and I have for the past. seven years un with making less than.
$30,000 and so i' I've had to be frugal. even early on and I actually credit mint. with like helping me get out of debt. initially um the first couple years. because it was actually a little bit. worse than what it is now but um I I. know that I can make it work with what. I'm getting paid now but uh I know that. I also have debts coming up that I need. to get rid of and what coming up more no. no I mean just like my student loan like. you know I have to start making payments. on that and well that actually leads me. to what I think is an exciting point so.
this would be 3 years from now getting. the the one month emergency fund paying. off the other debts and then paying off. the student loans that would be about 3. years from now we shop around find a job. that gives us even an extra $500 a month. boom instead of being three years from. now two and a half years from now maybe. even a little less make an extra ,000. than we're making now bring this down. from 3 years to two years we can. increase if we even if we're outside of. the industry that we'd rather be working. in we're just utilizing the fact that we. have a degree that we're a hard worker. that we have good interview skills that. we have a good resume we utilize that to.
bring in $4,500 a month post taxes. instead of 3,400 which in the Austin. area isn't like the most mind-blowing. thing like if you do this and this is. this is so much easier said than done. you're going to have to work you're. going to have to apply like it's a. full-time job you're going to have to. increase your interview skills do really. good resume builders but you land this. job man you cut it from three years of. having no life to two years of having no. life and and that's awesome from there I. do need you to have a six-month. emergency fund which we'll call last. time we called about.
$112,000 we can do that in this system. it would take about you know four months. to do so but again more income it'll be. even quicker yeah call is 2 and a half. years with a better income three and a. half years total from start to finish. with keeping the same income and you. already got a raise you'll get a raise. next year should not get well I mean it. was like the I say a raise because it I. was working part time and I'm fulltime. now okay well hopefully you get a raise. within a year that also starts throwing.
you know more progress towards us. so that's what I think in terms of what. to execute from here I would definitely. try to shop around for a better job even. if you like your job you can come back. to it when you have your debt now when. you're debt free condo I'm still pay. minimum you payment until that thing is. paid off um after that if you can manage. riding a bike until then that's where. I'd save up $110,000 get yourself a. $10,000 car it's not going to be. luxurious you're going to make sure it's. safe and that it has air conditioning. because you're in Texas if it has those. two things and it's safe and it's going. to last you for at least five years you.
know get the mechanic thumb of approval. if you're not driving too much other. than the long trips boom that gives you. a car situation where you're able to uh. use it when you need to which is really. what you need right now uh so that could. be something you do but the most. important thing after the three or two. or three and a half or two and a half. years depending what you do with your. income I need you to start throwing 25%. % on a monthly basis to. retirement cuz I need you to retire with. a couple million bucks let combo I know.
it sounds crazy it sounds crazy I want. to get serious about retirement here. it's actually not the craziest thing. from where your age is going to be at. the time with 25% of your income on a. monthly basis and taking advantage to. compound growth if we just consider the. average 8% that the stock market has. done since Inception High years low. years averaging out 8% or S&P 500 from. its Creations been about 10 to 12% you. do that and we could get you with a. couple million bucks by retirement but. what it requires is getting out of the. bad debt first having a fully funded.
emergency fund to lower your risk. profile and then 25% whether it be to uh. whatever your workplace uh uh retirement. account is uh irra brokerage you know. what you do from there is up to you but. I would definitely be sending down to. the financial advisor in two and a half. or three and a half years depending on. what you do and figuring out uh. different investment strategies to hit. the goals you want but I would do 25 5%. a month which will leave you at 50% you. can cap for your needs mhm 25 for wants.
and 25% for investing which if you have. a powerful income with low minimum. monthly payments gives you a lot that. you can spend on bird bird biscuit well. I definitely hope I hope not going to be. spending more on bird bird B than I am. now just because I I know that's. something that uh I in the past has been. a lot of and and even though I've. consciously tried to cut back now um I. know maybe it's still even now a little. bit more but I'm I'm I'm going to cut it. out and your advice as far as you know. grocery shopping I know that's something. is going to be difficult but you know.
you you get good advice as far as you. know trying to do it ahead of time. ordering it ahead and I said live really. close by so fur is going to be my. hardest challenge for sure but I think I. I'm in that mindset where I want to. change at least for bird bird biscuit. you're being a good politician and. supporting local business if you notice. I've actually a lot of my restaurants. that I go to our local businesses and so. but then there's also lots of water. burger and but that's fair I mean I mean. just whatever close but I I do. intentionally try to spend locally so do. you have any final questions any final. thoughts anything else you wanted to.
talk about while we're here not in. particular I guess I just want to say. thank you for helping me kind of get a. grap on grasp on how I want to move. forward um having that Bas line kind of. you know needs number is definitely. helpful in terms of you know going. forward without like a like I I hate. that I'm using rocket money but it's. just I need to find something that's. going to be very keep me on track our. tool man we're going to gift it to you. yeah just use it something that's just. going to keep me on track as far as that. specific budget and yeah it will um yeah.
as yeah if you can just share that with. me um I can you know really start. putting Paras towards this and even. start even before the end of the year go. start ends as far as you know trying to. not even wait until January 1 like I'm. going to really try to start this soon. and um kind of get in the hang of it and. I know you I going to the gym something. that's something I lot people say. beginning of the year but this another. thing I I didn't account for in there. but me too and I'm totally fine putting. that in the budget you as far as what. what would you rede I mean I've chopped.
around for memberships and like I've. seen some as like low as like 20 gold. and then you know 40 for like lifetime. but like I mean just the cheapest would. you just no what's going to be most. important for me on that for you in your. situation is unless we're talking. absorbant amount of money I would rather. you spend a little bit of money and make. sure it's a place that you're going to. on a routine basis unless we're starting. talking like over 100 bucks that's you. know once we start talking couple. hundred bucks monthly and I'm like okay. well easy there until you can afford it.
and then once you can I'm all about it. okay it's helpful yeah I mean that's the. only thing I can think of is you know. just I hope that um in the future if you. know if we meet again I I will be out of. debt or at least a lot further in that. progress because I I I know this is. something that I you know have said. before I was going to do but I think. like I said now I'm in a different. mindset I'm trying to start my life a. little bit over even though it's it's. not you know really possible but I'm I'm. trying to give a fresh start on the year. and this is something that's going to. help me get there and so I appreciate it.
so thank you fro Hammer Financial score. when it comes to spending in a budget. obviously if we're over spending we. can't even pay on our credit cards to. pay off the full balances like we're. trying to 0 out of 10 debt it's not the. worst Deb ever just needs to start. taking control and actually paying it. off three out of 10 for his emergency. fund well there was nothing so 0 out of. 10 retirement couple hundred bucks so. I'll give him one out of 10 real estate. I'd love to give high but because it can. only appreciate it 2% it's kind of. locked in it's this it might be. something that's a little harder to sell. I'm going to put it at a 4 out of 10. Hammer Financial score 1.5 out of 10.
