So, she tried she tried to fight. me, so I threw it out theing window and.

then I was like, "Uh, >> what was the charge?" a grand theft. >> Clearly, they had enough to. >> I had a shitty lawyer and he told me to. like take a deal and I was like, "Okay, >> why would the lawyer want you to take a. deal if he didn't think you would?". >> He's a state of Cuz he works for the. state. So, he's trying to get more money. for the government. >> What? I don't think there's a grand. conspiracy for those assigned to you. lawyers. I'm blanking on the name, but I. don't think that's how it works.

Did you get a job now? >> No. >> How long have you been jobless? >> Listen, I'm a stay at home dad, man. >> You guys have kids? >> We have a kid, a daughter. She's two. >> Was it between you two? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Oh, two years. That makes sense. Okay. Uh, you don't need to be a stay-at-home. dad, though, cuz you just got fired is. what happened, right? >> Yeah. Listen, what was your job? >> Uh, super I was like a lead supervisor.

over maintenance for. >> your job. You said like you're like a. What was your job? >> It was a supervisor in maintenance over. like recovery, you know, recovery. behavioral wellness. It was a string of. like rehab affiliated things. And why. did you get fired? >> Well, there was a situation where I cuz. All right. So, I was also over. transportation. I was over. transportation and there was a woman. client that claimed that we did. something because I wouldn't give her a. hug. >> and she came back.

>> ultimately. Yeah. >> She came back pregnant like a couple. months later. >> Are you suggesting. >> No, that's what they were suggesting at. first though. >> No, >> at first. Yeah. >> But not in the end. >> Not in the end. >> No. It's a whole situation where I gave. her a ride to a whole other program 5. months earlier. She came back like a. month pregnant to the back to the. program cuz inside the car on the way. there she was like, "Yo, I'll show you. my boobs for a sip of your coffee.". >> And. I failed to report the reason. No, I I.

didn't see but the reason that I got. fired. >> Why not? I don't get it. >> Was because I failed to report. >> I'm just not that guy, man. I'm not. >> No, I mean, you're with her, so like I. I'm okay with that. But why have you not. gotten another job? How long has it. been? H. So, we want to get her in. daycare, man. And, you know, these first. few years of my daughter's life are like. the most important. It like I don't want. her to go somewhere and be taking care. of a daycare, especially when we're. going to have to be paying for the. daycare. And I'll almost be working.

whatever 17 $18 an hour job just to pay. for better. >> Oh, I definitely believe I can do. better, but I just I wasn't ready to put. my daughter in daycare, man. >> Like just that's just cuz. >> because Well, we know that felons can't. be working there. So I think. >> listen it's a financial sacrifice.

Okay. So I got I got it. Okay. Well, I. mean yeah I I want you to be with your. kid. I'm not saying that. Okay. So. what's going on? What are we talking. about? So, this conversation may or may. not like make or break our relationship. cuz we've been struggling. >> Um, who controls the finances and like. control has been a really big issue for. a long time. >> In I mean, yeah. What's the control? Who. who's trying to control? Cuz I mean, he. doesn't even know what you make.

>> So, what do you mean the controls the. issue? You love the the sound effect. Hm. That is [clears throat] your. favorite. You're really hyper. considering everything. >> Yeah. like he thinks a lot. Um, but I. don't know. A lot of it has to do with. like. >> he had control of the finances for a. really long time and I was pushing like, hey, let's have a joint bank account. I. want to be able to like see what's going. on because when he was taking care of. the finances, I had no idea what was. going on either. It was like, okay, I'll. just get the bills paid. But then I. found out like, you're getting the bills.

paid, but you're taking out loans to pay. the bills. So, are they really getting. paid like on time from your paycheck or. >> You didn't know about that? >> No, I mean I didn't know until like. afterwards. until you found out by like. looking or what? >> Uh until we like I was paying the bills. and he's like, "Hey, there's like a. rental thing that can like you can pay. rent half now and half later." And he I. whenever he stopped working, he got a. severance pay and paid off like a good. amount of his stuff, but he didn't. >> Severance is meant for you to like live. It was one paycheck.

>> loans. Um. >> well, even still, it's meant to make you. through the next paycheck. Yeah, I know. it's not perfect, but. >> So, that was my idea was I was I was. going to pay as much as like my car. payment, the insurance, whatever I could. put towards groceries and the rent for. the next couple months. >> How'd you feel about him using his. severance? >> Um, it's the same reason I was supposed. to buy a car with my taxes, but he lost. his job just around the same time and I. wasn't able to buy a car because I then. had to use my Yeah. >> her taxes were our taxes.

>> No. And I say that because she got to. file for our daughter by herself. >> But I also worked. So, >> but I was the main provider. So, why. would she be able to have all of the. taxes that came from our. >> tax is not $5,000. >> It was not It was something. >> I was working and filing a 1099. So, I. needed to claim our daughter because my. shop job made me file a 1099. >> Mhm. Okay. So, tell me about the. resentment today. I mean, I already. heard that in kind of a little bicker. fest. What's the resentment today?

>> So, he was telling me like I spend a lot. of money on like [ __ ] and he should. be the one in control of finances. >> Well, it was a suggestion. >> Yeah. But then when I didn't want to go. with it, you were just like, "So, you. just don't take my suggestions." And I'm. like, "Okay, so how about instead of. that, we can both do a joint bank. account and we can both look at it and. we can have a discussion or a. conversation." But conversations don't. tend to happen. They tend to just get. like swept under the rug. I do agree, but I'm nervous that her impulse to just.

take money out and still spend it. however she wants is going to be there. >> But you would be able to see if I did. >> cuz I'm I'm a little I'm a little bit. more frugal. >> You're not frugal at all. You go play. pickle ball, you buy this, you buy that. Like you're more frugal in the long. term, but like you still do your little. joys. Like. >> I need it. >> We both suck at. >> I need to do that. >> Then you're not frugal if you need it to. spend money to feel better. $10 a week. on pickle ball is not that, you know, I. don't feel like it's that serious. >> like twice like for for like.

>> Well, it's $35 a month. So, if we're. going twice a week, 10, 20, 30. >> Two or three years, it was once a week. And. >> how often do you buy pouches? How often. do you buy energy drinks? >> Listen, >> how often do you crunchy roll? >> Oh, yeah. Crunchy rolls once a month. But yeah, the pouches. I mean, you got your. medical marijuana like five$500 to $800. in fast food a month. >> You eat with me? That's a month. Yeah. You eat with me? Yeah. Sometimes I.

definitely break, but you were buying. >> most of the time. Yeah. But when you're. buying to eat fast food, you're buying. it at work. Sometimes twice after you. get home. That's like $40, $50 average a. day for just you sometimes. >> No. When you would work, I you would. come home and would I cook dinner? Yeah. I would cook dinner about 20 to 30% of. the time. How often do you cook dinner. when I work? >> That's a pretty high that's a high. percentage. >> Yeah. >> Listen, I'm good with just grabbing a. bowl of cereal or some ramen, man. >> Yeah, but I work a lot labor job, dude.

Like, I can't just grab ramen. I will. die. >> And I do have compassion for that. empathy. Like, I I can feel that you. know you work. So, I feel like you. deserve more like you deserve to be able. to do things for yourself. What are you. >> complaining about? You know, there's. >> that's. >> So, so essentially where it kind of. comes from is I want to have all this. empathy and understanding for what she's. got going on, but I just I've always. felt like I. >> Sorry. I mean, even empathy with that, how does that lead to excusing fast food. and hundreds of. >> Oh, I definitely don't excuse the fast.

food. >> What? What are we talking about? >> No, I I'm sorry. It's like, yes, I mean, I. could I I feel bad if someone's a little. tired, if someone's working, but if you. all of a sudden start giving her the. justification and enablement. >> to go eat out, you're. >> Yeah. Yeah. Listen, so I I'm just in the. dark and I really feel like I should be. in charge of the finances. >> You should be in charge of the finances. >> Yes. >> What's your perspective on that? What. What do What do you What do you think. when you hear that? I think about.

financial abuse and I think. >> well that's a heavy thing. >> really is. >> go on. >> I just feel like he's been in charge of. the finances before and whenever that. was a thing like I was in the dark I was. the one who had no idea what the was. going on so it doesn't make sense like. why can't we both be in charge of the. like we are a partnership we are. supposed to communicate together we're. supposed to work together not just you. do it or I do it and I listen because. you're my daddy or probation officer. >> my bank and all That stuff is not that.

complicated. I had one account that my. stuff went into. We had the set amount. of bills. You took care of the water and. the electric. I took care of the rent in. the car. And all you had to do is pick. up my phone, open my bank account, and. see that it was there. And if you wanted. money, I sent you money. Half the time I. sent you like $400 for no reason and. just said, "Go do your thing." Like. whatever we had extra instead of saving. it, I was giving to her. >> Okay. But when you hear financial abuse, what hits her head? >> What hits my head? >> Yeah. Um,

I think her definition of it is. like an opinion and a flaw towards. herself. I mean, I don't know how else. to explain it. That caught me off guard. That was an offg guard question, but. essentially, >> yeah, that was that is heavy. >> Like, she has used our family car to do. things that were not in our family's. best interest. And when I said, "Let me. know what you're doing with it.". >> What? >> Cheating. Like once she used my car, our. family car that I paid for and it was. like my first big buy in my entire life. Once she used it to go cheat 2 hours.

It's. just we got to try to come up with some. better habits. >> Like I will buy I will buy all the food. that we need to portion out a week's.

worth of food. >> You say that and then you say let's go. do meal planning and this and that and. then we go to Aldi's together and I'm. like what do you want to buy? Here's all. the stuff. And then the food rots in the. fridge. >> Yep. >> It rots in the fridge. >> How would it change if you ran it from. that? You know, I I feel like I have. these I have these ideas of things that. we could do, but whether or not I. actually have the, you know, >> the energy to do. >> So, you have ideas, but you don't know. if you could execute. Why the should you. be running it? [sighs].

>> You know, >> make that make sure the bills are paid. Like, I'm Cuz you did, like she said, you pay the bills for I was still paying. the other bills. So, he paid rent and. his car payment and his insurance. Listen, all I know is where my head's at. is most days she will most weeks she. will work 5 to seven days a week. She'll. come back and she'll say, "Hey, I made. this much money. 23 $400 sometimes 500.". Like a lot of money. So throughout the. entire month, you're doing this like. like what 20 at least 24 days you're.

making that kind of money. And somehow I. am still having to ask my dad for money. I went and did a paint job for $1,000 in. three days and you took the entire thing. and handed me $40 to. >> to put towards rent. I know, but why is. it so imperative? >> You were making our rent is $1,800 and. you're supposedly making $6,000 a day. Where the hell is the other stuff going, food, gas, uh I take care of our car, we. do take five. I get our oil changed. Um.

business expenses, guys. Okay. Okay. Why can't it be a collaborative effort? Both of you seem to want the control. And I understand. I kind of get that. this might make or break cuz Yeah, it is. a fight for control. Why can't it be. collaborative. for Why won't you get married? >> Maybe start there. >> He said, "I don't want to marry you cuz. I don't trust you.". >> Okay. Which would lead us to want to. have control. And I guess we'll get into. that what you brought up. I'll I'll.

And I'm. gathering from your end, you have. resentment over the use from that money. from before. I mean, you said you have. resentment. How is that like bubbled? What What does that look like today? >> Because I don't I don't know. I feel. like we were at a point where we were. fighting so bad that. >> when. >> um. >> at the layoff. >> Yeah. Like kind of when he lost his job. slash when I was like beginning to work. We were fighting a lot really bad.

I just like turn them in whenever we go. to do this paperwork?" And they said, "Yeah, I went in October." And they're. like, "Yeah, you owe two you owe like. two months of back pay for rent because. you didn't turn in your thoughts.". >> She had a breakdown.
