Gen-Z Princess Thinks She's Smarter Than Me | Financial Audit

what I'm going to Switzerland oh my when. when po this is not funny shut the up. sometimes for some of my flights my will. help me out you seem like a daddy's girl. this is miserable you are impossible to. talk to you have no breakthrough you are. a brick wall of. dumb hi my name is Paige I'm 26 from. Austin Texas and Mrs Financial. audit thanks for coming into the studio. what do you do for living here in Austin.

thank you um currently I work in. retail what do you do at Lululemon I'm. well you didn't have to tell me where. but just like what do you do retail is. huge it's all encompassing sorry I sell. clothes um I walk dogs yeah oh you 26. you walk dogs Lulu Lemon no no no so I. have I work at Lululemon and I also walk. dogs on the side ah side hustle okay. what do you make at Lululemon um I make.

like 1750 an hour okay how many hours a. week uh usually around. 30 okay yeah that would be pretty hard. to live in Austin that's a little hard. so I that kind of gets us to about 2,000. a month before any kind of taxes or. anything just off of that with no time. off if you're not taking any time off. how much are we making with the what we. also get. bonuses based on based on sales.

so how often how often we on our second. paycheck of the month cool what do you. normally get what normally hits your. account from Lulu on a monthly basis I. want to say it's closer. to. 2500 okay maybe obviously still. difficult to live in Austin off of that. so how much do we make from the pet from. pet walking or from the dog walking so I. usually do that about 10 hours a week so. that's usually. like I'll say $300 no sorry three $50 a.

week doing that are taxes set aside for. that automatically or do you have to set. aside taxes so in the app I think that. they do set them aside what do you mean. you think how do you not know I don't. know I guess I haven't really looked. into it how long have you been doing it. um I think I started well I don't think. I know I started about like a year. ago a year ago so there would have been. a little Lo last year did you claim the. income from the dog walking on your. taxes I think it was less than I think.

it it wasn't that much I didn't make. that much doing it did you claim it no. uhuh pull up your app show me where the. tax okay that set aside the taxes in the. app is uh alleged set aside okay monies. I think it does that's great show me or. is it like is it a1099 is that right is. that what it's called maybe or is that. what I'm supposed to file why don't you. pull up the.

okay okay mhm show me the tax thing I'm. trying it's loading okay did you not. join the guest Wi-Fi I did or it says. Rover fees so I'm assuming that's what. it is I'm waiting for it to load no I. doubt I bet Rover fees is them making a. little bit from what you're making so. that they can make money as a company. the Rover fees you thought. the. oh okay okay.

uh$ 30 $80 for a set and you thought the. Rover fee of $16 were taxes being set. aside for you yeah when have we ever. seen taxes being taken from us with the. company's name and the word fee after it. that's true I guess I've never I never. how do you think Rover makes. money I thought it was just out of the. goodness of their heart okay well come. on yeah how do you think they make money. come on um I know there's no ads well I. assumed that it was taxes and and how.

they were making money why why did you. assume this I'm so confused I don't know. I think I just did okay so yes you are. going to receive a tax form at the end. of the or you're going to receive a form. from Rover at the end of the year so. that you can use that submit it in your. tax returns and you will likely have to. pay taxes and I highly doubt there's. anything you can write off okay how much. it's 1,400 a month yeah about that okay. I mean you don't make crazy money but. it's like even still there is the.

government wants their money let's be. honest it's gonna. happen I don't remember a savings. account oh yeah so I actually yeah. that's true you would be correct how are. you GNA pay taxes even if they're little. how what are you going to do I was. getting grinded out you know like that's. not. a like pick up more like pick up more. dogs or then you ow more taxes next time. that's true but then I'll have a plan in.

place why don't you have a plan in place. now well that's why I'm here I'm. starting shut the up that's what that's. what everyone says that's the stupidest. thing in the world I'm asking you. questions so I can figure out your life. I'm asking questions so I can figure out. how you approach all this yeah that's. why I'm here is not a get out of jail. free card stop with that yeah that's. fair hey that's fair okay how are you. living on Austin Texas on. $3,900 a month how do you feel how do. you feel with some of that should be set. de side for taxes but must to say it's.

not cuz we know you're not oh you he a. giggly thing okay it's okay it's okay. how are you living in Austin um how you. feeling I I mean I've done I've done. okay like most of the things that I like. doing are like outdoor activities but I. definitely do not have like a lot of. let's talk about survival and not what. you do for fun how are you living in. Austin how do you feel yeah it's. definitely tough like it's yeah I need. to I need to either make more money or.

do a better job with what I have now why. do they only have 1661 hit from payroll. for in the last month hit your accounts. unless there's a super secret account. you didn't give us Ah that's what's. Apple cash in $1,000 what was that oh. that's dog walking what was the rover. $1,200 that's so I like I have regular. clients so so Rover's actually double. dog walk is actually doubl to ,000 I.

didn't think it was that much but I. don't know I got a 1,50 in from Apple. cash within the. month 1,212 from Rover yep but payroll. 1661 mhm no that doesn't line up with. your 2500 even double that doesn't line. up with the 2500 maybe I just did my. math wrong you don't know how much you. make no wait what's your hourly rate. again like. 1750 and then you say you always work 30. hours a week well like at end we get.

bonuses that's what I mean on the second. paycheck we get a bonus yeah but this. was a month's worth of statements it's. possible that maybe it was missed one by. a day but so you saying I make less than. I thought or more than I don't know dude. I'm asking you for sake I'm just trying. to get the Baseline dude yeah and we had. transferred in from. savings so what was that what you. transfer in from savings to your. checking. 8004 that might have been wait to pay it.

just went into my checking you put 700. in your savings and you pulled 800 how. do you not dude this just happened I'm. so confused how how do we have the I'm. sorry like how are we on that level of a. few weeks later I really I have no idea. $800 is not insignificant to you I was. probably paying my credit card bill you. put 700 in savings and took out $800 I. think I move money around as I get it. okay I I want to ask this question I I. roast people and it's fun and you know.

we get your consent and everything for. it beforehand all Stu I want to ask you. this out of just legitimate. genuine not as an insult okay are you. dumb no I'm sorry like legitimately are. you not. smart I think I'm pretty smart okay just. I just don't I don't have a great grip. on my. finances okay okay how much you think. you spent in the month of course you.

think you make a total of 3,800 or so. that's what you think maybe it's a. little more or maybe it's a little less. what do you think you spent like. including rent and everything spent. total all the money spent spent spent. spent spent probably all of it okay yeah. how about a number 3,800 okay 5,294 what. are you talking about I did not realize. that let me guess that's why I'm here I. wasn't going to say it I was not going. to say that uhhuh but I really didn't.

know that so what is going on in your. life right now I want to know we'll jump. into these finances in just a minute or. so what is going on in your life cuz you. clearly have no knowledge about your. situation what you know that's something. we want to we obviously want to help. with and get you to a better place but. what is going on in your life right now. surrounding all this best description. possible that you can attest to yeah. yeah so I think for me I just moved here.

oh really from where yeah from North. Carolina when um about two months ago oh. okay that's a okay that's a big move. okay for why so I have I have friends in. the area I was just really excited about. it I've always loved Austin wasn't for a. job no so I kept the same job I. transferred my job from you transferred. the L to Lulu yes yeah so I transferred. from actually I started in North.

Carolina transferred that job out to. Australia and then transferred it to. Austin the Australia talking about yeah. I lived in Australia for about six. months last year and then I well hold on. are you are you not going to do you move. every six. months I I I stay mobile but is the. preparation and everything we do here. not going to be adequate because you're. going to move from here in four months. no no this time I'm I'm settling down. tell you get bored four months from now. and see your dream life in New York City.

or something no see I think I I'm really. excited about Austin this is kind of. where I want to be you know cuz the. friends yeah that's why yeah that could. be a good reason to places I I love. music I love like okay well we can get. that a lot of places live music capital. of the world sure more live music venues. per capita than anywhere else go ahead. right like I just I love the area I love. being outside the lake is awesome I. wanted to live in a city I wanted to. live in a city I've never done that. before every city has a city okay so I'm. just I'm just trying to like why are you.

actually going to stay here friends. that's an actual real reason yeah I. really missed Community like in all my. travel and like moving everywhere else. that was that was tough for me yeah so. okay so you just moved here what's going. on in terms of I asked what's going on. with your life that was the first thing. you said I wanted you to resume that. yeah so I mean I just moved here I'm. settling in um it's been great so far. and right now I kind of just want to get. everything in line so I can keep living.

the life that I love what is keep living. the life that you love get everything in. line yeah but but you spend more money. than you make so you'd be going even. further from the line what is living the. life I love what are you trying to get. to well I I'm okay with living frugally. like in my dayto life what what are you. talking about no you're not yes I I. don't think you know what Frugal. is yes I do I mean I really I don't. think I'm an extravagance spender and. you spent a 5,200 when you think you.

bring in four well I have it so like I. you recognize yes I move around a lot. but most of that is like for travel for. like fun things that kind of thing like. and I can hand on not being an. extravagant spender did you just hear. the things you said do you not even know. what words are yes I do but I just mean. for me that's what's important to like. to travel to see then what the are you.

going to do there's no frugality in that. I mean there could be if you're Nomad. but you're not that the way you spend. what are you talking about you're going. to 180 do you not know what you're. saying do you not want to know what any. of those things even are do you not know. what things cost money they do I know. they do no then what do you mean then. but I still I still want to like okay so. starting out how I got how I got this. debt initially yeah sure. I basically so I was living in Colorado.

for 4 years sure of course as a place. yeah I was as a what a ski bum like I. wasn't making much money I was working. at a ski resort basically just doing all. that didn't have any debt then and then. I decided that I wanted to move to. Australia okay so I could learn how to. surf did that and then I was like you. know what let's keep this party going I. want to go to Asia so then I spent about. 2 months traveling around Asia got my. yoga teaching certification because.

because the are you on because I want to. teach. yoga that's what you want your thing to. be well one theion one of the things. yeah what are the other. things well I'm mostly just I mostly. just work to live oh my gosh what what. work to I maybe but you spend. more you're not working enough to live. your life so let's talk about something.

every business owner fears running out. of cash when you've got payroll to hit. or a new project on the line I've been. there when I started the show managing. cash flow was a straight up nightmare. between payroll new equipment and. scaling up my business I always felt. like I was on the edge and that's why. today's sponsor relay is a game changer. relay is an all-in-one business banking. platform that helps you stay on top of. your cash flow right from your phone no. account fees no stress no unnecessary. debt so why aren't you doing that then. that's a great want usually people that. want something to do it I'm trying no. you're not what do you mean you spent. 1,200 more than you bring in yeah smile. all you want that's doesn't make it true. yeah I think I didn't realize how much. money I was spending no. sh that is the most obvious statement. I've ever heard in my life it's a wake. up call for sure why aren't you doing it. you say you know you want to you say you.

want to yeah so why not then well I work. all the time you work 40 hours a week. with both jobs combined yeah well you. don't know what all the time is or 168. hours in a week you work 40 hours a. week. yeah so do you have any point that has. any kind of standing or is this all. going to be [ __ ] it's not [ __ ]. that was [ __ ] and what you said. before that was [ __ ] so where's the. non.

bullsh well I'm just I'm so I was doing. a really good job like when when what. did that look like when I first came. back from Australia like I was living at. home but that's because I didn't really. have any bills um and then we could all. do well if we don't have bills I know. and so that was good so I I like kind of. got that in my corner and I was kind of. like got what in your corner no. disciplines required for that I know. that's true that's true I think. think I just need to learn how.

to pay for the. things that when I say it out loud like. pay for the things do you hear any of. the things you're saying out loud this. is all wild I just mean I just mean it's. like I didn't I really didn't realize I. was spending so much money and I was. like why is credit card balance not. going down are you kidding me no I'm. not did you ask yourself that when did.

you ask yourself that obvious not. obviously not so you didn't ask yourself. why is my credit card balance I ask. myself that when did you ask yourself. that because I was like when should I. when probably like two months ago I was. like why didn't you look at your. documents then two months ago why didn't. you look at your documents then two. months ago I was. like well I did look at them I just. looked at them then you would have found. out it tells you how much comes in how. much goes out yeah. but I just thought I thought that I was.

like putting more money towards go what. am I dealing with right now what are. you no that's not funny that's not funny. that better be some cop laugh some. copium I just what I just didn't realize. I was spending so much money how many. times are you going to say that I don't. know it remains true but you could have. looked cuz you asked yourself 2 months. ago and you wanted to know two months. ago and you could have found the out but. you chose not to yeah I me but we don't.

know why well I've known about this debt. like I knew that this was going to. happen like when I decided knew what was. when I decided to travel I knew I was. going to put myself in debt okay and you. weren't traveling two months ago though. were you you got here and then you asked. yourself why is it not going down and. then you didn't number okay so I guess. it was more than two months ago but I. wasn't I wasn't really facing the. realization like oh were you working in. Australia yes oh to Lulu yeah okay what. is that your career it's okay if it. wants to be. well I know the path is what do you want.

to do you're 26 yeah what do you want to. do what have you done do you have. college do you have what yeah I did go. to college I did you graduate college. yeah I have my bachelor and my masters. in economics what the f what. the no. way yeah. so then this are you. f from doesn't even matter from where do. did they not teach you what is happening.

you graduated and with a master's yeah. guys if you think your qualifications. only come from a degree watch this. episode are not are like what the like. do but you don't know how to budget. apparently not you don't want to do. anything with that I do I do it's really. hard right now to find a job what do you. mean like I've been applying I've been. applying for two. what two two like analyst positions.

Consulting. positions like literally could hire are. you as a consultant I've been on. LinkedIn I have been on LinkedIn well. done. okay but I have been. looking how okay how many jobs do you. apply to a week usually like six a week. okay shut the up it's not even close to. enough that's not enough a day really. kidding me you not do you not know how. compe people want these jobs are you you. kidding me you think six a week is going. to get what are you serious how many.

should I be applying for minimum six a. day a day 10 a day what are you talking. about do you want a job or not yes no sh. got to put into work show me your resume. my resume show me your resume it's the. word I just said okay. guys if you want better value for money. than apparently an economics degree and. you actually want to learn something our. budgeting investing and our debt class. are all bundled together at 25% off make. sure you guys check that out better.

value and you'll actually learn what the. do with. money I don't have one that actually has. of my okay I'll show you then are we. surprised we're not getting a job if you. don't have a resume that shows on your I. do it just doesn't have everything on it. because you can only do one page okay. all right let's take a. look so. it's from Clemson okay go Tigers baby. LPL Financial remote Junior economic so. we had something.

mhm and then before that I was in like. well actually at the same time I was. only doing contract work for LPL and. then during that time I was also. doing like customer service analy. financial data generated reports. collabor aidex. change turn somewhere yeah I mean. the it's not really shown your skills. very well is the thing um and like Lou.

Lemon I get it I it's showing that. you're at least having something after. that may 2023 yeah and I have another. but but this is like I hate this this is. like demonstrated problem solving. abilities in a fast-paced environment. Lulu Lemon if I I I I hire people you. know we have like a 13 person team now I. hire people if I saw that I I'd chuckle. I'm chuckling right now ha well I have. to pay bills and I have to but it's just. I know I get it it's just like it's not. demonstrating anything I would try to. thicken up maybe that LPL and really. take the bullet points off of well not.

necessarily it's just like it feels like. a waste of a bullet point cuz seeing. demonstrated problem solving at L lemon. is like well I already have this big gap. in my resume because like I said no just. figure out the if you listen AI is not. 100% great for a lot of things right now. but it'll at least give you the language. often times that are scanned through. rese systems so you can figure out the. words and things you just need to have. in here to get in touch with the. recruiter in the first place so it's. just like. I don't know we could probably just fill.

these with more uh. algorithmic enticing language. yeah H cuz it does feel like a pretty. mid resume it's not horrible don't get. me wrong I thought it was good it's okay. just I wouldn't really know what I'm. getting from you that's true at least. with this I mean you have a whole story. at the top let's see yeah looking to. work with Advanced tools like Google. Sheets okay well. great well I can code I'm glad we focus.

on Google Sheets then so take that off. not necessarily it's just how you. constructed it dude it just reads. silly okay sure I I what the the stuff. on the right with your skills with the. data analyst and the programming the. software and research you can do that's. pretty good yeah that's pretty good I. don't know the rest I would really beef. up that the actual relevant job of what. you're trying to apply into instead of. having like I don't know especially the. I mean the internship it's okay it shows. past experience but says I I want to.

beef up what you're currently working on. sure and that thing at the top was so. long okay my summary yeah. okay yeah it was almost like a cover. page cover letter I have that too well. as you should and curated to the. business and a more competitive market. that's fine and obviously more than six. jobs a week make sure it's curated for. the job you're looking for and that it's. being able to run through those. algorithms six a day is crazy do you. want a job you want to work in retail. for the rest of your life well it's not. a bad thing if you want to I don't care.

but sounds like you want a job I do love. my job but so maybe you should do. something about it and be an adult I. don't know okay self assess where do you. think you are today 0 to 10 zero being. the absolute worst 10 being the absolute. best financially five I'm going to burn. this building down I. don't what I'm like not that bad I'm. going to just ruin everything it's not. that bad are you stupid it's not that. bad you spent. $11,200 more than you make I don't know. what you're talking about and that's a.

substantial percentage it's like an. extra. 20% I what the are you possibly talking. about this is huge for financial audit. for a year now my team and I have worked. with experts to create what I truly. believe are the three best educational. programs in the financial space online. we have our budgeting program where I. teach you how to create manage and. revolutionize your budget and control. your money and then there's the. investing program where I teach you to. from thousands of people now who've. taken these classes and they've. literally changed their lives for the. better and finally you can too at a more. affordable price head to Caleb. hammer.com or click the link in the. description below you will not regret. this if you want to be real about your. life and get your own Hammer Financial. score and it'll tell you your real score. you can check that out Link in the. description below it's free and if you. want to come on the show and you're not. a complete dumb go to Caleb hammer.com. apply sorry that's is so stupid not that. bad what's not that bad what's not that.

bad I don't get it what's not that bad. here's a giant credit card with interest. AC crewing oh good oh good there's fees. oh you know what the fees are enough we. better go ahead and purchase. $2,612 essentially more than we make. from our day job in a single month on a. c that's a crewing interest in getting. damn fees that makes sense are you. stupid how much. $84 n. oh am I getting.

old 80 or $90 of Interest I don't know I. think a line's smudged but then. $2,612 of purchases also known as more. than comes in from L Lo lemon yeah well. with the. $256 a month minimum monthly payment. meaning you have to work Rover or else. you can't pay it I think that like a. couple hundred of that is. I had like a doctor's appointment uhhuh.

and what's your health insurance. situation I have insurance uh-huh I pay. about well I have what's the marketplace. one uhhuh I pay about $3 a month so. three what's your coopay what's your. deductible any probably pretty. high what was your appointment what is. it a brain scan no it was it was to. check my hormones what did they find out. um I have a IC. mutation but my hormones are fine but.

that my mom paid for because she was um. she was concerned and so I didn't have. to pay for that and so maybe that's. where some of the money came in too. that's where I was going with that $. 5,421 183 is Z on here with a minimum. monthly payment of. $256 and 28 cents yeah these purchases. are insane. insane you are not a credit card person.

you are not even close to a credit card. person you're allowing fees and interest. to a crew yet you spend more than you. make from your day job in one month on. here are you kidding me yeah you need to. use something like the Fizz card it's. meant for people like you anyway it's. the benefits are catered more to um you. know younger adults like us so use it. it's a debit card that builds credit cuz. I'm sure you care about credit every. line item there's so many line items and. all what are you getting from the.

Salvation Army what are you getting well. I told you I just moved here so I had to. furnish my apartment why is everyone. saying had to when I'm sit on the floor. sure when I moved here I had a cheap air. mattress when I moved to Austin trying. to get out of debt trying to make it I. literally had a cheap air mattress that. I slept on that was popped halfway. through for 6 months 3 months it was. popped so I'd inflate it before I'd go. to bed and luckily uh after I felt. asleep about an hour later it would. deflate but I was asleep so it didn't.

I think well that is part of the reason.

why me and my last significant other. broke. [Music]. up why cuz you couldn't listen to him no. because I move a lot that's not what I. even mentioned there you are you can't. listen you can't listen and that's. probably actually why you kidding me. oh what do I have to be the one in the. chair.

come out of your mouth you don't even. know what it. means I don't know what to do no I it's. not that it's not that obviously I. thought about it obviously I thought. about it I'm trying to take action but. you're not I'm so confused you don't. know what the word try means trying to. trying to make action no you're not it's. not reflected in these statements I. don't I don't get it listen you have pay. overtime pet boy. and DHL stuff oh yeah actually so well.

not look at your documents you lied oh. my gosh okay I love the city double cash. card you just abused it I did a balance. transfer because I thought that I was. going to be able oh she did it you did. the thing you did the thing you did the. thing you did the thing you did it I'm. not supposed to do that or that's good. where did you balance transfer from. because so where where did you balance.

transfer from the Chase card uhuh what. did you bring the balance down to on. your Chase card when you balance. initially I think it was like double. what's on there probably like you. brought it to double what's on no no no. so it was double on the Chase. card hey when you transferred from Chase. to City what was the remaining balance. on the Chase card I think like 4500. really yeah so you've actually brought.

it. down nope you brought it up never mind. never mind I forgot what number you had. great so it didn't even matter it didn't. even matter it transferred and then it. went up this is what they do this is. what everyone does unless you fix the. behavior that actually got you there in. the first place then it doesn't matter. then it doesn't matter you transferred. then you had more room to spend so you. spent because we have to travel we have. to spend we have to go to Dan just move. to Austin have to go to. Dan I thought that I was going to give. myself time to down how'd that go not.

well not well but I really so I still. have the z% interest on that carche now. so I'm like I can still I'm still doing. the minimum on that and then I'm paying. more than the minimum On The Higher One. on the Chase card when was the last time. you went on a date well I just broke up. with my boyfriend when like two weeks. ago oh you haven't gone on a date sense. no next time you do report back to me if. he allows the second one I want to know.

Brandon's I think uh 5'11 so it works. nice we're the same. height uh. 120 oh what did I send money for. probably uers probably hold on I can't. rate it when oh look at it then thank.

you oh this is for the this is for the. um this is for the Switzerland trip this. top. one and then these I think are Ubers or. dinners what for the Switzerland trip. what about it uh our stay $25 so okay so. now we've gotten to almost a, has to be. a thousand I mean you probably already. spent something more right you're. probably going to need a special little. outfit for all the Swiss I haven't I. have only bought the flight and I'm. bought uh where we're staying you're. going to bring all your gear yeah that's.

probably going to cost money yeah. probably probably like 300 bucks who you. looking look at me sorry Brandon's not. over there yet CM down yeah probably I. mean I'm going to I'm planning to save a. little bit for that oh well here's the. student loans for the degree we are. incapable of using yeah yeah they're all. on deferment mhm why that's just what. happened wait when did you graad. graduate uh with my bachelor's 2019 with.

my Master's. 2020 okay so you went to an income. deferment so you could go around you. probably were like I make no money. please give me I didn't put them in. deferment no no no no no you probably. put them on an income repayment plan. you're like yes I make no money cuz I. want to go travel to the world so please. don't make me pay back the debt that I. signed that's great I'm glad our. resources are all being pulled for that. wonderful instead of. who are low income because there's. literally no other option for them and.

they actually need so you could travel. but technically I am low income yes so. you could do Australia and Asia and. Switzerland and Colorado and then North. Carolina in here so you could do all. this you chose that this is not meant. for you it's meant for people who cannot. survive which it should. be and now it's deferred because it's. being challenged in court and I hope. they strike yours down. specifically just yours the rest it.

could go either way I don't care I see. the pros and cons wait so no but I pay. every month no you don't there's no yes. I do oh hold on maybe hold on but. they're all okay well you're be you're. paying something that's not required. because there's no due date I don't. think you're is she paying do we have a. statement is she paying yeah it's in my. it's in my man it's not much but. me what they does is snap okay. yeah how much how much you put towards. it a month mhm I think.

maybe. $26 you probably are not required to. they're all in deferment right now cuz. they're being challenged in court. they're stuck so I don't have to pay. that I don't know probably not I would. look before you. don't is this another debt no that's my. wait that might be my car loan nope. that's my checking account hold on hold. on car loan yeah we don't have a car. alone she didn't say anything about a. car loan we didn't know you didn't tell.

us there's nothing yes nope and I would. not trust you you are not a reliable. narrator what's your car loan for sake. um it's well what's your car let's start. there 2019 superu cross Trek okay I. can't picture that car what what's ODed. on it I think about 17 oh for [ __ ] sake. that is you can't afford that is. i p when did you get this like two years. ago and what made you think you could.

afford this what it's 350 bucks a month. yeah because you put the they are making. so much money off of you congratulations. you are lifting the American economy. from the ground that's what you use your. economic degree for so you could just. lift up the American economy by. stretching out your damn car loan you. need a car you didn't need $177,000 car. loan two years ago it was harder don't. get me wrong but either way you stretch. out your tone your. your loan term so long that way your.

minimum monthly payment could be lower. so it feels affordable but your interest. is just accumulating accumulating. accumulating just like your income based. rep payment on student loans you're. paying less towards it guess what they. accumulate even more because you're. putting nothing towards it what's your. interest rate on. here how do you do you have credit maybe. maybe five you don't know pull up your. credit do you have credit C on your. phone no great do you have any. how have you been able to survive that. are are you supported by your parents or.

something how have you oh what is that. face no no that has like Daddy's girl. written all over it you seem like a. daddy's girl do your parents know about. all this are they in your life I don't. know yes yes do they know about this. they know well yeah they know like what. saying no I have the Subaru and then I I. know you just didn't tell them correct. information and then well my parents. don't support me but like if I'm having. if I'm having like a bad day or. something I just remembered my my dad. will sometimes have a bad day what's a. bad day like Daddy pick up please Daddy. no not at all d d I said it's like a. gift think of it like a gift Dad D I. just went on a date and he thinks I'm a. crazy so he's not going on a second. please no you know it's like you're.

talking to your friend and you realize. oh like they're going through something. or whatever and you get him a little. treat it's like that oh like a little. okay he gets you sweet treats you have a. sweet treat Daddy I guess so what when. how often how much not that much what. maybe like once a month what what does. he get you like a 100 bucks oh that's a. lot of money no it's not 100 bucks you. have no respect for the dollar 100 bucks. I could do a lot with $100 I could get. many a sweet treat with $100 that's true. that's why he sends it I got the entire. office we treats today and delivered.

expensive you know and it was less than. $100 what are you talking about $100 is. a lot of money what. do you have to what's your hourly rate. you creature what is it. 1750 you have to work almost 6 hours to. get that well and then after taxes you I. mean you probably have to work like. seven eight yeah got to work a whole. damn day just for that and that's not a. lot of money it's helpful I just don't.

like that you don't have respect for the. dollar I didn't mean it like that I you. said you said it's not a lot of money. what do you mean what do you mean what. else could that mean it's a nice thing. sure but what else could that mean I. don't think that means anything else I. was going to set you up with domain. money we set everyone up that we think. could work the financial advisor to. domain money they're my financial. advisors they're great I love them you. have a dad as a financial adviser talk. to him does he know about your situation. like that I'm in debt. what does he know about your financial. situation he know he knows he knows that.

I'm in debt he probably doesn't know the. exact number do he know that you s $200. more than you like on to OES probably. not should we call him in the. potion maybe we'll give him a call in. the PO oh for sake okay so this is your. checking account 2,000 in there it's not. a it's not a bad balance I have in a. checking account it's it's not venmo. $200 oh oh was that for the yeah yeah oh. that's it oh your checking account's not. much okay it say money back and forth so.

you only spend on the credit cards a. credit card that is aent interest yes. credit card that has fee a credit card. that is not even close to being paid off. a credit card that you spent more than. what you make on a monthly basis I think. you can only spend on a debit card you. don't know how money works you don't. know how money. works I think you can't I think you need. to close your credit card what really. yeah what about like the points do you. think you got more than $80 in points. this last month City double cash is two. points on purchases mhm purchase.

1,500 got $30 in points but it cost you. $80 in interest the you talking. about I didn't know that are you. alive close. what what my credit card yeah you just. you listen you you you transferred it to. another credit card you balanced. transferred then you racked it back up. again you don't know how to manage you.

can become a credit card person you. absolutely can be but you need to prove. that you can like a debit account for at. least like six months you to prove you. have the discipline that you can budget. that you know what you're doing yeah. with your credit card you just over. spend and you're destroying your life. it's allowed you to do the. $1,200 more than you make on a monthly. basis yeah it gave you that ability this. looks like the first oh well there it is. never mind it looked like you were. taking this seriously no I am I am like. it actually hit you it looked like for a.

second I didn't realize it's like it. came back to smile the little like. that's. just I think I didn't realize obviously. I didn't realize that I didn't have that. money already so I think I thought I was. spending less than what I was earning. Vanguard wait why is there $12 wait. what's happening do you not have enough. money in here so vanguard's giving you a. $12 fee don't. no well there's a $12 fee um oh probably.

cuz I just opened. it okay maybe and also hold may include. recordkeeping administrative purchase. Redemption fees I also have a Roth IRA I. just couldn't remember the login. information how much is on it about. $122,000. whoa what that you did from. where you your parents had nothing to do. with that no well I mean my dad and. invested it for me where'd you get the. money from I just just put it in there.

like I said where did you get the money. from you spend more than you make and. you have debt that doesn't make any. sense but it was a while ago that when's. a while why did you your life since then. that all of a sudden is incredible yeah. probably like five years ago when was. the last time you contributed to it. significantly sign n it's been a while. so why were you in a better place at 21. than you are at 26 what made you digress. to a child so um here's what happened I. I decided to travel and hate everything. okay no I put about $3,000 in there when.

I first opened it and then when I was. working for another company I had a 401k. that was vested and then I had to did. you contribute in the match yeah and so. then. they my dad told me that it would be a. good idea to roll it over once you were. done with that job okay that's a little. different cuz the match helps and it's. okay well it's 401k and I still I still. contribute to what Vanguard for that's. my current 401K okay it's pretty low. 6007.

hour what what's your percentage. contribution I think 15 wait when did. you start it's so weird that there's. like this shining little. thing and we didn't even know this like. we don't have a document for your guess. I couldn't remember the password okay. cool cool cool but like I'm so confused. how everything is so bad yet there is. this shiny little thing this must be the. financial advisor part of the dad right. yeah he I mean either way it's not going. to save you though if in your life. outside of your Investments are all just.

you know barely scraping by if that. getting worse. yeah um I think that 401k started Jake. thinks you might need to get your PhD in. economics in order to remember your. passwords that's my dream no it's not. yes it is you can't teach people why. that is my. dream and you're going to do what with. it be a teacher Professor oh good thing. you don't not apply for jobs.

let's figure out if you have some legal. room in this this here budget let's make. a budget okay so income we think we need. to set some money aside from um uh from. that Rover we have to so I'm setting 400. of that, 1400 aside okay okay and it. might not even need to be that much put. it in a high yield saving account it's. like SOI mon yeah of the, 1400 that. comes in okay well especially since you. need to play catchup anyway but as we're. playing for like if there is a. significant bill due you know we try to.

budget for it or we uh get an extension. and then we just pay it as soon as we. can but we're always saving up for this. next year's taxes it might be overboard. for your income situation but even still. because so much of it is. contractor if it's in a high savings. account and there's a little left over. at the end of the year great you know. this is bonus I guess not not actually. but so we're going to do 3500 your. income debt payments okay.

$674. 28 that's insane what's your portion of. rent 1,1 your portion mhm is how much. 1,140 is that too much for you in this. situation your portion of. [Applause]. utilities it's all together like. internet that stuff is okay uh all. utilities all utilities you don't have a. single extra payment no okay renters.

insurance is that included this one you. have that a part of it you don't you. don't need it in Texas legally but you. should get it I don't have it I'm. putting an extra 15 bucks okay for a. renters insurance yeah it's cheap but. get it your phone bill you don't have to. take care of it when you do use helium. the same towers as T-Mobile 15 bucks a. month I love them they're great they. help people when they're trying to. budget gas vroom vroom Drive Drive how. much on a monthly basis best guess. probably. $200 that's a that's generous sure car.

insurance 140 it's not horrendous. necessary food you can do $300. congratulations you're only going to the. grocery store you're new and single if. you want to go out to eat have someone. else pay for it winky face winky face. okay you know what I mean and I'm also. kind of joking before someone gets. offended Pearl clutches TP fund anything. else you. need is 100 bucks it's going be makeup. this can be all the you know womanly. necessities and um you know everything.

else you need to survive okay Medical. Healthcare anything uh required on a. monthly basis co-pays yeah I mean I pay. about 60 plus 30 so about $90 a month. for medication okay and then how much. was it for your health insurance it's $3. so 93 mhm okay Jim uh that's covered by. my work you have any pets no I wouldn't. yet okay I'm not good why because I love.

walking dogs like that's where I get my. fix okay okay I know good good I just I. don't want you to in your financial. position it's expensive to properly take. care of them anything else I need to put. in your budget that I do not have yet. not that I can think of maybe like an. emergency fund is that what that is that. what that $400 is for huh well 400 or 4. oh that's for taxes never. mind yeah sorry yeah it's I'm sorry that. it doesn't say Rover Fe next to.

it couple months two months two months. of that go into a savings account okay. so that you have some baseline in case. something happens okay that'll get you. about 1,600 okay so your first two. months it's all into the savings account. month number three we are going to start. with wish we knew the interest rate on. your car we're going to attack the. sapphire first mhm well actually let's. see how long that takes the. payoff that'll be about 5,300 no more.

spending on cards again I would close. them for you cuz you're just really not. responsible and takes six months to pay. off so we are nine months in the. interest starts on City but it's not. back interest I think so with that. that's okay so that takes six months to. pay off and then that interest card is. gone then we actually have an extra 250. so we're over a, we're at about a 1,100. left on a monthly basis then we have the. city double cash probably about 3,800. then and we have. 1,100 we pay that off in three and a.

half months 10 11 12 so we're at we're. going to call it conservatively a year. and one month okay okay your car payment. your your your car is too much so I want. to start making some progress on that. your payment itself is not we can. probably minimum minimum monthly. payments on the student loans because. they're probably at a low interest. rate especially for when you took them. out okay. maybe we aggressively pay 7 $7,000 down. on that car try to get it to about.

$10,000 then we minimum monthly ta pays. off so let's call it we're going hard. we're going crazy for a year and a half. okay a year and a half and then probably. let's call another half so two years. total cuz the second half of that second. year you're saving up your fully funded. emergency fund which is six months of. your living expenses okay okay so two. years and you're actually in a good spot. and then you're still like one year. younger than oh wait no you'll be my age.

no you'll be one year younger than me so. you still have a lot of Life to Live. okay you'll be 28 at that point and you. have a long time and we can start. catching up on your Investments are. still behind for your age I am shocked. by that little that came in with the. Roth but what I'm behind you only have. $15,000 yeah that's not going to. get compounding. interest economic degree award. work.

okay okay so we start contributing. 20% okay 20% uh my 401K retirement. accounts in general but sure 41k so I. could do like 5% Ira 15 I would at least. take your match whatever is necessary. for your match a match we also just need. to get a better job dude you have a. degree you have master degree they might. see that you're overqualified thinking. that you're going to get into a job and. then leave it quickly that's what they. might see when they see that master's. degree okay that's kind of the hard part.

sometimes about a master's um without. going all the way to the PHD or or. instead getting the Masters potentially. while you're already in a career it gets. a little complicated it gets weird put. yourself in a weird. position okay but that could one speed. up the process but two you you know are. in a place where you should get a better. job uh for your career that you want to. do so that's okay but two years and. you're in a baseline place and you have.

a great rest of your life left pull up. your LinkedIn I want actually see these. applications I want to see what you're. actually doing I want to believe this. I've also been applying for not going to. let Brandon go on a date with someone. who's not applying to jobs I don't want. him to all of a sudden just get someone. that's going to live on his couch so I'm. not only applying on LinkedIn but here's. my LinkedIn um you're the one that. brought up LinkedIn I'm applying on like. just regular uh. career career stuff and yeah just like.

regular websites for jobs applied on. website one month. ago year ago year ago year ago year ago. year ago two years ago two years ago two. years ago two years ago you lied to me. three years ago not I'm not I don't on. LinkedIn now okay let's see in progress. none saved two archived maybe that no. longer accepting jobs I can't see when. these were wish I could see when these. archives. were but even still the in progress.

scene that there's not or or applied. scene that there's nothing sooner than. one one month ago they wouldn't have all. been archived if you're applying to at. least a few a week they wouldn't have. all been archived you would have had one. from like yesterday no it's I didn't. apply to any yesterday you get my point. though yeah even a couple days ago there. would have been. something and it was for yoga. instructors there's nothing on your. resume to suggest anything related to. yoga I have a different resume let me. see that resume that's for my that's for.

like strictly yoga teaching I also just. remembered um I'm going home for. Christmas so I need to pay for my plane. to get home budgeted in I'm not. horrifically opposed to that yeah but. you're you're doing Frontier you're. cheaping it up yeah and I don't want Dad. to pay for her but but what about gifts. you're not doing gifts don't be dumb. shut up gifts make something you don't. be stupid give yourself the gift of. getting on the debt instead of being the.

failed child how about that Dad would. appreciate. that yeah mhm how long does it take to. find a resume because I haven't used it. in a while you just applied for that job. well I have look here how about this. I'll show you these are all of my. resumés and cover letters that I am. making for other jobs so you Mak yes I'd. cater them but it won't show me when. this was used last last opened at least. on.

here I promise I'm not lying about. applying I definitely do not have not. been applying for enough but for what. it's worth you've opened four of them. today the other ones were open weeks ago. yes because I like to use the same ones. and then edit it a little bit okay okay. okay listen I think you just need to. apply more make sure they're catered I'm. not necessarily oppose that I mean I am. glad you're doing six a week you know. I'm definitely uh pushing your buttons.

but. um more than six a day you need to get. that better job okay because you have. the degrees necessary the qualifications. and you want to work a better place that. gives you the ability to get out of this. quicker even though you already have the. ability to do it in two years if you're. not just you know putting all your wants. above what you actually need okay okay. so stop being a child and you can. actually get. there we'll talk about this date in the.

post show maybe we'll call the dad and. the post show yeah we'll talk more about. that oh it's going to be interesting cuz. I want to see how you if you're the same. kind of. entity I don't know you it feels like. you kind came down to earth in the last. 10 minutes or so which I appreciate. feels like it least hit home maybe it. took a lot to break you down more than. normal but I really really I did not. like this conversation at least for the. first 40 minutes you feel a little.

better now spending a budget you over. spent zero out of 10 debt adding more to. that Sapphire I can't give it better. than a. two for your. situation that car is actually pretty. bad okay one emergency fund took it all. out zero retirement definitely behind. for your age going to give you a. fouryear income for where you are and. everything well just in retirement where. you want to be in general it's going to. be a two two real say out of. 10 what you said 5 out of 10 Hammer.
