cookbook for free when you sign up for. Simpler Budget Premium Annual. Hi, my name is Caroline. I'm 28. Hi, I'm. Jasper. I'm 25. We live in Tampa, Florida. And this is Financial Audit. Guys, thanks for coming over from Tampa. Caroline, let's start with you. You're. the one right in front of me. What do. you do for a living there? Um, I'm a. shift supervisor at Starbucks. Okay. How. much does that make? What was my raise? 2217. I just got a raise. Yeah, Florida.
kind of definitely ups and flows pretty. hard in terms of cost to live in Tampa. I'm sure it's on that it sucks less. Yeah, that on that it's a little more. expensive area. Okay. So, what do you. what hits your account on a monthly. basis? What did we say? It was 20. Not 20. It's. like 2,100 2,200 2,100 something like. that for you. Because there's also tips. like credit card tips make it very. variable from each month. So So 2,150. let's say that. Yeah. Jasper, what do.
you do? Uh I'm a forensic case manager. Okay. What do you make? Um it also kind. of varies because I do also work. overtime. Um but it's around normal. monthly income. What hits your account. on a month? 4,000 to 4,100. Okay. So. definitely more the bread winner. So how. are we living in Tampa? How are things. going? I would say a little tight. You know, one they're going well well 6,000 I mean. 6,250. I mean I'm again I'm sure it's.
one of the more expensive areas. Sure. But if we're talking net pay of 75,000. certainly above the US median household. income by a decent amount when we're. talking about your gross income. So. shouldn't be fullon struggle unless. you're [ __ ] up forever. Uh I mean. mid20 late 20. I mean I don't want to. say like fullon struggle. I think it's. more so just like rent definitely is. quite high. We've looked at a few. different areas to try and go to. But. what do you mean? Okay. So, looking at a. few different areas to go to. Cool. Why.
didn't you go there originally? Why'd. you sign up for a rent? That would be. What's your rent? Well, the rent is. $18.90. That's basically your. entitlement. Yeah, sure is. Yeah. Sure. is. It sure is. So, $18.90 and then. roughly likeundred. 10 in utilities from the apartment. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, your rent's kind of. on that upper edge, but it's not like. actually horrifically bad. It's not. pushing you into a bad place.
So, why would it be tight, fully tight? I have like a thousand trillion in. student loans. Like if if the rent is. like 30% of our income net, like you. know, you're kind of on that teetering. edge, but it's not in that we're about. to vomit stage. No. And I mean, what I. mean by tight is it feels like we have. like maybe $50, $100 towards the end of. the month where it's like everything's. been paid for. We don't really need any.
payments coming up. But if anything does. come up, you know, how autistic is he? It's like looking at my forehead. I know. it's me. I'm that one surprisingly. Really over there. But that's okay. Okay. So, what what are we doing here? What are we talking about? We got a lot. of debt and we want to get married and. we want to move out. Not married. Not. married. Not married. This is. pre-marriage. We're in a premarriage. situation. You guys are engaged. Nope.
Okay. So, how long have you guys been? What? Do you want to get married? When. do we want to? No. You want to? Yeah. Why aren't you getting married or why. aren't you married? We have no money. Yeah. We can go to the courthouse. We can go. to a courthouse. Yeah. But it's like I. feel like we just want to be in a spot. where it feels like we're more stable. You're not to get married until your. finances are better. Is that what I'm. hearing? Yeah. It it just like changed things because. we had our finances separate for most of.
our relationship. We've been together. four and a half years. Four and a half. years. And um wait wait wait. Did we sit. down and say we are not getting married. until we get the finances? What's the. threshold? What have we decided? It's. kind of just something that we just. bring up. We'll be like, "Yeah, you. know, we want to get married, but then. we also just start talking about. finances.". Okay. And how does that conversation. usually go then? Well, it's just even. the fact that like, you know, maybe when.
we do have a wedding, we would like to. try to have like a somewhat nicer. wedding. We want to be able You said. you're good at the courthouse. Yeah, but. it's just okay. I wouldn't mind like. courthouse like for actually getting. married. Okay. Reception. Why don't we. get married today? Get the tax bennies. I mean, you guys are together four and a. half or whatever years. Like, you want. to get married? Mhm. Yeah, we get. married. You know someone you going to officiate. us? No. Go to the just go to the. courthouse, dude. It's okay. So again,
you started talking about money. So what. did you discuss then when it comes to. that conversation? So when we had our. stuff separate, um I didn't let on how bad my finances. were. Um he kind of wasn't when um like. for the first two years he didn't really. know. Wait, but you said you didn't like. he thought I was better off than I was. at the time. He was like, "She must be. fine." Why would he think that? Because. we were going out to eat all the time.
and going on dates all the time. You. guys didn't talk about money in the. first two years of dating. Well, there's. a little looking at the camera. Oh. Oh, yeah. That's his Get used to that. That. is my laugh. That's exciting. But why. why do you look at the camera and not. me? I don't know. This is just you and. me. Sure, there's people watching, but. it's just you and me. They're not there. right now. That's fair. That's fair. We're just talking. It's us three. Okay. Mainly the reason why I thought. that she was in a better financial. position than me is because we both were.
working at Starbucks when we started uh. dating, but she was working as a shift. supervisor. And I always had it in my. head, you know, well, her check is. bigger than mine. So, if we're going out. to eat and she's telling me that. everything's fine, then it must be. So, you were telling him everything's fine. Yeah. Fully. So, we did talk about money. in terms of the way of like, "How you. doing?" and you're like, "Everything's. fine." Mhm. So, why'd you mislead? I. don't know. It was embarrassing because. like I wasn't always bad. I know. everyone says that, but like I wasn't. always bad with it. And then all of a.
sudden I was and I I didn't What was all. of a sudden then? I just like one day. was like damn like I don't know how all. this happened. And at the time I just. like was scared and I didn't look into. it, you know? Like I was like, "Yeah, but what happened?" I I just I started. like buying myself things. So, so go back in time. I was in a. relationship for 7 years. It was really, really horrible. Um, like high school.
Yeah, we So, we we met in 8th grade. Um, we he dated my my best friend actually. It was There's a lot there. I can't go. into all that part cuz that's fine. I. don't need to know. Um, but then in. sophomore year we started dating and. then we were. together until 2019. So you're blaming. the relationship on you being bad with. money. No. Why'd you bring it up? Because so he I'm sense. Okay. Let's get. there.
He's going to tell my story that he. wasn't even a part of saying there is. there's reasons. There's reasons. Um, so. he was like the worst. He had um he was. a drug addict and what he was what and. like basically anything. He was one of. those people where it's like if you can. have it like he he needs something like. anything. Um just getting clarity cuz. you could say that he could just be. smoking. Yeah. I know it was it was a. lot of things. Um Okay. Okay. And like I.
don't know. Then there was a whole. thing. It was right before we moved in. together. um like literally a month. before. And would he agree with all this. if I called him? I think so. Okay. Cuz. we we are getting very one side right. now. I mean he like we ended on like. kind of agreement that like we both were. pretty like we were kids and like we did. [ __ ] up things but like him more so. than me. What was your things? I mean, like, when you're being like, and I'm. not using the term lightly, when you're.
being emotionally abused, like you start. to act out in a certain way, you know, like you do things that you wouldn't. necessarily do if you weren't being. pushed to that, you know? What were you. pushed to? Just like I guess you could. say it's like being manip manipulative, but like not with the intention to. It's. more like I'm just so desperate to like. get you to care about me more than, you. know, like I'll do anything for your. attention. I'll say anything to get you. to feel bad. like I just want your. attention right now kind of thing. You. did that. Yeah. Yeah. So, there was.
that. And it was just like I was putting. so much money aside from like emotional. labor and stuff into this man that like. when we finally broke up for good, I. like completely flipped to the other. side. And I was like, I want to spend my. money on me. I deserve these things that. I was giving to him. I didn't have any. money for myself in the past. Now I do. So, I'm gonna buy like literally every. single thing I want. Like my motto at. the time was money is meant to be spent. So, I spent it. Okay.
Okay. And that led us to bad finances is. what we're saying. Okay. Okay. And you. hid that from him. The the thing I Okay. That's what I'm curious about. The fact. that you hid it from him. Yeah. And I. mean that did kind of eventually come. out and Yeah. How did it come out? cuz I. want to hear about uh this relationship. in front of, you know, the one that's. like real. Yeah. So, we just kept. talking about it more and things got a. lot more serious. You know, we moved in.
together. We had to really just plan out. our finances, trying to think about. like, man, where can we even live? Cuz. Okay. When did you guys move in. together? Um, we moved in together, I. would say like a year and a half into. our relationship. And then a year after. that is when really all all of it came. out about the finances. Well, because we. when we first moved in together, it took. it took a little while. I want to know. how it came out and what happened around. it, guys. So, we had a roommate when we.
first moved in together and the rent I. had lived with this guy previously. Like, he was my roommate and then all. three of us and the money always came. out of my like rent fully came out of. mine and then he would send it to me. So, like I was basically like in control. so to speak. Okay. So he didn't really. know like it just it didn't How did it. come out? When we moved in together a. year after. after that we moved. Do you even know. how you guys learned about each other's. finances? Maybe not. I don't know. We. moved out separately and we didn't have.
a roommate anymore. Yeah, I know. I. know. You know, and then we had to. really just think about, man, what are. we doing? Cuz at first it was the. roommate and it felt a lot more like, man, we each have our own individual. finances. We each are sending our. portion to rent. We're all buying, you. know, different stuff for the apartment. Okay, now we have to figure out, man, how are we going to furnish our all new. place by oursel, you know, and then we. started thinking about like, man, so how.
much debt are we in, you know, each of. us? And so you guys finally decided to. have the how much debt are we in. conversation? Yeah. What? Three years in. at that point? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. All. right. I see you still waiting on that. paycheck or fumbling with random bank. fees. It's 2025, guys. It's time to. upgrade with Current. With Current, your. paycheck hits up to 2 days earlier. Like, you actually get your money when. you need it, not when your bank decides. it's convenient. Plus, Current's build. card can boost your credit score by an.
average of 81 points in just 6 months. There's no annual fees, no interest, no. shady credit checks, just a solid way to. inch up that score. It's basically a. second chance at a credit score that. doesn't suck. Also, fee free overdraft. means no more $35 penalties when your. bank account is feeling skinny. And if. you're trying to stash some more cash, they offer up to a 4% bonus on savings. pods. Show me another bank giving you 4%. without a ton of hoops. I'll wait. So. say goodbye to your traditional checking.
account and head to. current.com/caleb50 and use promo codec. caleb50 and they'll drop $50 into your. account once you meet their terms. Free. money, baby. Current pays you faster, won't gouge you on overdraft, helps you. build credit, and actually rewards your. savings. So if you hate antiquated. banking, switch to current and level up. your finances. Don't let your bank hold. you back. It's time to move on. Yeah, that obviously might be a little too. long if we're already living together.
100%. You know, and it. Yeah. Yeah. It was part of the issue, but like we can't go back in time about. it. Yeah. How did that go? Um, it was a. little shocking. I didn't realize that. it had it was as bad as it was. I didn't. realize that her credit line was that. much. I especially like from my mindset, my credit line was like at max like 7K. So I was like, "Oh man, even if it's. like, you know, she has like a maxed out. credit card, the worst it could be is.
like what, 10K, and like it's just embarrassing, you. know, like obviously it is embarrassing, isn't it? More embarrassing hiding. something from at that point decently. long-term partner." Yeah. And it's like. it's weird to even think back. I don't. get it. I don't know why. Borderline. like liar. I mean, well, actually you. did because he you guys talked about. money before and he you essentially led. him to believe that everything was fine. I would what I would say is I would be. like, "Well, it's it's getting close to. the limit, but it's okay." You'd be okay.
with close to the limit. Well, she would. explain to me that before basically she. would do all of her purchases on the. credit card. So, her bank account was. typically, you know, very large and then. she would pay it off at the end of the. month. So, from my understanding or like. at least from like my point of view, I. was like, "All right, you know, she has. a a large amount on that credit card, but she's going to take it out of the. bank account anyways." Okay. So, everything's.
Yeah. We need to get it taken care. of so that we'll allow ourselves to get. married. Is that what I'm hearing? And. to move out of the state. And move out. of state. Well, to Florida. Moving out. of Florida. Absolutely. Where are we. moving? Oregon. That's a. farm. Your job. Your job is the more. money job. Your job is easy. transferable. Relatively. Relatively. Are we going to be able to secure a job. immediately? Well, that's another thing. that I want to work towards when we kind.
of relieve some of our debt is I want to. get my masters. And Masters in what? I. want to get it in medical laboratory. sciences. Okay. And what do you mean. take care? Okay. Because what where are. the priorities? Cuz all of a sudden, we. have marriage. We're talking marriage, but we're also talking moving. We're. also talking paying off debt. Probably. have to throw an emergency fund in there. at some point. Maybe even some catch up. on retirement so that we can have some. time for compound growth, especially. since one of us is approaching 30. Okay, there's a masters. So, like, where are. we putting that in this big equation? I.
know. And that's where some of the issue. is. It just it feels like where we are. with our finances right now. I can't. even think about like when can I. possibly go back to school especially. with the degree that I want to go for 16. weeks of that degree you have to be. doing yeah how are we prioritizing that. versus everything I I can't prioritize. he does try like he'll try to have. conversations with me and be like how. are we going to plan this out but the. future really stresses me out and I shut.
them down what do you mean you shut it. down I do okay so what do you mean walk. me through this Um, like he'll be like, "Let's talk about a however many year. plan." Like, "This is what it's going to. look like, blah blah blah blah." And. I'll just literally be like, "You refuse. to have the conversation." Well, well, how the will you guys get anywhere if. you don't decide where you want to go. and then you figure out what it takes in. order to get there? I mean, you can't do. that. That's just immature. I understand. it be stressful, but you have to put. through the stress. That's going to be. stressful forever. You want to be. stressed forever. Do you have no goals? Do you not want to get anywhere? You.
can't lead a conversation like that, especially in a couple, especially in a. potentially married couple. Yeah, it's just it's just hard. I don't. know. It's like something in me. I just. don't like to think about it and I just. don't I don't know. And I mean that's a bad answer. I mean, she just doesn't want Okay, so what do. we do here, dude? What do we do? I mean, she's a And that's why like I try to do. I do try to push to have those. conversations at times. And what is that. like clothing underwear on your arm? Do.
you have like underwear for shirts now? Oh, absolutely. I have never seen a. human wear this. This is very. interesting. You haven't been out much. Do I need to get on that game? Oh, absolutely. Cool. The underwear for my. shirt. It looks like my producers want. to play a game. So, let's see what this. game is. Little game called Oregon. Trail Financial Audit Edition. So, you're moving to Oregon. Okay, cool.
We're hoping to get there. Starting. funds, $6,430, right? Okay. Now, here are your. and that's your payroll that came in. And that aligns with basically what you. said. It was a little above what you. thought would come in, but here's your. categories. Here's where your money. went. Okay. So, this is what we're going. to go through. We got rent, utilities, that comes with rent, typically. Therapy. Car insurance. If you drive, you got car insurance. Amazon. Bratz.
Care. I don't even know what the that. means. Salon. Guessing that one's for. you. Mhm. I don't think you've showered. in a few days. Okay. You'd be surprised. Miscellaneous [ __ ]. It says extra things. Just extra things. It could be Well, likely for everyone on. the show. Like, well, no, I was going to. say it's vaping. Vaping itself is its. own thing. So, great. Vape. miscellaneous. It could be a video game. It could be just going and just dumb. stuff. Groceries, but we do have to eat. actually eat and subscriptions. So, this.
is what you guys are spending on these. certain categories. So, you need to make. it in that starting funds cuz we can't. hop on this wagon. We can't hop on this. wagon and leave if we don't have like, you know, under the budget. So, we need. to get under the budget. So what I need. from you guys, you need to. discuss for. everyone what we spend on these. categories right now in order to make it. into this trail, into this wagon. Okay.
Mhm. Okay. And you're going to note it. down. There you go. So go ahead. I would say the easiest thing to start. off would be a rent. True. And you do you guys combine. finances? Well, we have separate bank. accounts, but we do Well, you aren't you. aren't married, so but we do like think. of our finances as combined. Okay. Yeah. Well, let's see how well we know the. entirety of the household then if we're.
headed into marriage anyway. Yeah. Rent. should be the easiest one. 2048. 2048. Okay. They disagree on the. rent by $2. By $2. Oh, just by $2. Okay. You made I round it up to 2050. You made. a very concerned face to her. So I. didn't hear your number. I just heard a. No. Now we're good on that. Okay. So. 2,400. Woo. We filled up that. You know, we're filling up real quick. All of a. sudden, like that's that's like it's a. third of it gone. Yeah. That's one out.
of the money you already spent. Utilities. I mean, a lot of the. utilities was included in the rent. So, it's really just electric, which is like. 110. Yeah, 110. Okay. Average. Yeah, we. both agree on 110. Um, minimum debt. payments. Let's do that. So, it's 500. But that's not that's not the minimum. That's what we put. Like, what? So, this.
is the household. But this is what we're. currently paying right now. Okay. cuz. m 500 150. I'm going to say somewhere around like. 1,500. Sure. Sure. Like I wouldn't be surprised. I. just know we are at 3658. Yep. 6,430 is. uh. it's our wagon capacity here. Yeah. What's your phone? 117. [Music].
117. Perfect. Um, okay. My therapy is 125. 125 every. month. Right. Every month. All right. And then my psych is 60. Yeah. And then. yours. He has forgotten forgotten. And. then yours. And then yours including his. own. So he literally my psych is 30. And. then I can't do quick math. 90 plus the. 125 like 215.
almost a four 10 away from 4,000. Mine Mine's 109 109ish. 220 car insurance 5. 334. Sure I genuinely can't do math. 4324 vapes critical critical to survive. I mean sometimes a 65.
I think one more on there I Cuz that's. like that's two, right? 70 I mean 75 75. 75 ju just in case. $75 for future lung. cancer. That's great. $4,399. Yeah. Halfway salon. You know, print it up. 420. That's only like getting No, no,
no. That's only getting my roots done, though, cuz then there's also a cut and. then also your cut because you also go. to the salon. Thank you. [Music]. The cut's like almost 100. Mine is like. 50. Yours is 50. Mine's 100. My color is. like 400. How often? You guys are talking. 6 to 8 weeks for a. Okay. No, it's been like 12. It's been. Look at it. Look at it. It's been 12. because I was being good. But you got to.
dump some hair dye, some just food dye. in her hair. We've tried to talk about. it to see if there's a different way to. go about it. But she's not willing to. have a conversation about your future. I. don't know if she's willing to have a. conversation about her. I like being. blonde. She does like being blonde. You're currently white. Well, okay. A. form of blonde. Excuse me. Is white a. form of blonde? I would say white. No, cuz you got to you got to say I like. being white, but I'm not going to say. that statement. Actually, I was about to. say, well, I like being white. No. Well,
Florida would welcome me back. Oregon. would murder you. Yeah. Very true. Okay. So, for 450. [Music]. just 600. Six. Okay. But that's not. every month. What you did there? What you did? 4,999. Last month I didn't I don't think I got. a color though, so it's less. Let's say. let's say 60 for eating out. For what? For eating out. 80. M.
maybe 80. More than that. More than that. for sure cuz it was March. So it has. like your It's March, guys. It's March. No fig out month. The statement has half. of March in it. And it's his birthday. month. It is my birthday. Are you a What. are we? We are broken as a society, ladies and gentlemen. Birthday month. What the [ __ ] is wrong with people? Enjoy your birthday. Do you remember. when uh you said the word birth day day? And we got a day and we got the food on.
the day. Yeah, that's true. That's true. What the Did you say birthday month? I. was just giving the context for the. statement. I don't know. Write your. number. Write your collection number. Put 100. I'm going to. say 150 to be honest. She's taking charge. $5,149. Lots of categories left. Yeah. Like 2/3. done. 45.
for what? Cuz it was like 20 for Netflix. and then Amazon Prime and Crunchyroll. Would you say 40? 45. 45 it is. Okay. 45. $5,194. Amazon. Okay. Amazon is going to be. quite a high number, but it's all valid. things and I stand by that. I will go. through and determine. I stand by it and. I will determine. I don't even know how. much it would be though cuz it's the.
Well, so necessary. It is necessary. So. necessary. We don't even know how much. we spend. I know what the items are. 200. Then you should know how much you. spend. If you know how much they. groceries. Groceries. Um 350. You don't think so? No. I think 350. I. feel like that's low. Okay, there are. like half these categories you guys are. disagreeing on how much to spend. Well, because I don't look at it. Why? Because. it's because we don't have a goal. So,
why would we look at it? Cuz there's no. goal to get to. So, we don't really have. to do anything. Honestly, it's a real. answer. No, it's not. No, no, no, no. That is actually I mean that's real. If. you don't have somewhere to go to, what. are you sacrificing? What are you trying. to do? If you have nothing to get to, it's just hard to look at the. statements. I don't know. Not like. Yeah. So 400 for groceries. That's what. I see written down. I'm going 400. You're going miscellaneous or rackare? Okay, last two. Ah, miscellaneous. [ __ ] Miscellaneous [ __ ] But I. also feel like this category will be. inflated because I know like Target is. kind of one of those like me, but we.
live right next to a Target and that's. our groceries. Target we put usually in. like unknown shopping. Yeah, but it's. like almost always our groceries. So, okay, let's see. So then then if it's not categorized as. groceries, the groceries should be lower. and then miscellaneous higher. Cross it. out. No, I I really don't think so. Cuz he. disagrees. I'll do yours. She takes. charges. Yes, I amus 50. Okay. 5,744. Okay. Miscellaneous bolt.
[Music]. 200. Sure. It's probably a lot. I don't. know. I don't. know. Okay, last one. Rat care. That. one. At least a stack is the problem. Okay. So, but there's no pets. Okay. Yeah. I didn't know if it was. taking care of him or if you had them. So, this makes sense. Yes. No, they are. pets. Um, and they're expensive, but.
they're very lovely. They're worth it. Well, how expensive are rats? My brother. had rats. They were awesome. I do like. them. They're great. like a lot. Why? Um. if you care for them properly. Well, I. don't know why it wasn't for them. It. wasn't my uh care that I had to do. So, how much? I'm getting there. Um. I would say just put a thousand. No, that was the one thing. That was the one. thing. That was the one thing. That's. why I said, you know, there was a stack, but there was no stack to be put into.
that category anymore. Huh? like stack of like there was money. There was money but we were out of money. when it came time. What did you spend on. [ __ ] rats? Well, don't be. insensitive. They died. Two of them. died. So, well, I'm sorry. I'm very sure. you are. You're slamming the table. Well, cuz I didn't know. What do you. mean? I can't be sympathetic about. something I don't know. Okay, so rats. only live 2 years, right? It's very. short lifespan. I'm going to get to it. You need you need the context. Sure,
sure, sure, sure. I like to avoid. feeling bad. It's okay. It's okay. You can feel bad. I don't mind. Um, great. From this. position feels pretty good. So, they. only live 2 years and they can have a. lot of health issues, you know, and. there's not a lot of vets that like see. them and when cuz they live for 2 years. Okay. You think things that have short. lifespan shouldn't live? No, no, no. I'm. not saying that, but it's like usually. No. Yeah. It's hard to find vets. They're specialized. Well, exactly. I. mean, it just makes economics like an.
exotic vet. Yeah. They're classified as. exotics, so they're more. expensive. So, um, they get a lot of. health issues, especially when they're. old and like I can't say that I wouldn't. have seen it coming because like I've. had rats for 10 years. Um, so I've had. my fair share of like money spent on so. obviously we need a random emergency. fund. Yes. Yes. Um certainly did not. have that this time around because how.
much was spent? So the first one his. name was. Pretzel. He just one day just was on his. on his last leg. So we had to bring him. to the emergency vet. That one wasn't. bad. That was just 135 to. euthanize. It wasn't bad though. Like. whatever. I mean like Yeah. It was It. was bad that we had to but like the the. money. Yes. Yes. Yes. And then the. second one, his name was Popcorn. He was. the sweetest boy. Um, he one day he had.
just like a wound on him on his abdomen. I'm getting there. Let me finish. And I. can feel his gaze. Um, we were like, that's a slur. Oh my god. Yeah. I mean, I think she's allowed. Yeah, she. is bisexual. So, I'm allowed. I love to. be homophobic. How much did you spend on this? I'm so. sorry. Please, for [ __ ] sake. We're so. close with the end of this game. Please.
What did I What do I need to do? Did you. spend on this? You said to not listen. Don't tell me. I don't Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. So, we got the We got the 135. for the rats and then went again for the. other appointment and that was the. surgery and that was the like 900. something, right? It was like 900. something. It was $1,000 basically. You're breaking my focus. I need I need. to focus. Okay. So, it was like And then. we took him back. A,000 and then like.
200 and then. I'm going to say the death which was. 135. I think I'm going to say 1,500. Yeah. 1,500,600 somewhere around there. We would have got there faster if you. genuinely just would have let me get. through the story to be quite honest. I. I this is great. It's very interesting. actually. I mean a little bit. Yeah, she. does kind of restart the story. I. restarted the story every time. Okay. You can drown in Snake River. It's done. Okay. Yes. Right. Yeah. Sake.
Well, to be fair though, it was just cuz. the rats, you know. Yeah. If it wasn't. for the issue. If it wasn't for the. issue this month. Let's see if that's. true, shall we? We shall. I'm confident. That's a That's an exciting laughter. Okay. Rent, you said 2480. 2,400 uh or sorry you said. 248. 20046 by two. Yeah, we can call you [ __ ] Uh minimum.
monthly payments uh 1,500 $1,56. Okay. Okay. So currently we're doing. good. Yeah. Stay afloat. $10 $110 for the utilities. 151. Okay. Utilities. They're variable. So, uh, therapy. 215 280. Oo, damn. Okay. Okay. Wait, wait. But that might. be because one of them got charged and.
refunded, I think, on your card. No, I. think I think you're tripping actually. What did you say? 117. Is that what said. there? Okay. 106. So, we have a little. brown there. Okie dos. Uh, subscriptions, you said 45. 99. Damn. Double. Still not enough to. eat up the make up the ground though. We're still okay. Salani said 600 156. I didn't I didn't do the color. I didn't. do the color. We're okay, right? We're. doing okay. Uh vape, you said 75 125.
See, I told you add another one, which. is stupid. But uh eating out 150. 439. 439. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that. that killed it right there. 334 315 pretty nice eating out of. course. Stupid miscellaneous bull at 200 66. Oh, okay. Amazon 200 33.
Well, they're all necessities. I will. see. Groceries 400 253. Oh, okay. Okay. But that's because the Target probably. isn't classified. 1,500 13.97. We were. pretty good on the water. We were pretty. I'm giving myself a pat on the back for. that right there. I feel good about. that. That is. $6,822. And you're right. Without the. rat thing, that wouldn't have happened. Do we have more rats? Mhm. Three more. rats. We have three more. Then this is.
going to happen like once a year on. average. Yeah. But so it has to be. prepared. But you're not able to move. You're not able to move to Oregon with. this. Like how the can we cash flow. that? Good luck. You'll be going into. debt. Also, by the way, I'm being. informed that that does not include the. unknown shopping category and that's. typically Amazon and stuff like that. That is typically. uh well, Amazon we had in there. Uh but. the unknown shopping things we can't. really tell it is like Walmart, Target.
like you said. Okay. That's an. extra,200 or,21. That's no that's fine. because Walmart is gas and groceries and. Target is groceries. Then you're. spending a thousand. spending way too much. $200 on. groceries. It's not It's not That's. still. uh absolutely ridiculous though. You. can't spend that much on groceries. We're hungry. It is. It is mainly the snacking. Okay.
Okay. Also like not to be like that not. to be that vegan that's like I'm vegan, but like we are vegan and it's more. expensive. That that was totally valid for me to. bring it up. First of all, I wasn't just. being annoying about it. No, but the way. you had to open it. Well, because I. didn't want you to be like, "Oh, she's. saying it like that, you know." Well, maybe it can't be. Oh, okay. Well, you. can't afford it. It's literally not. No, no, no. Like, you can't afford it. No, like we can if we just are smarter about. it. No, I want to be clear. Beans are.
cheap. Sure. You spent $12,000, you brought in 6,400. We'll just have to. buy more beans. Uh, okay. Yes. if you do. it like that. But you cannot afford your. current version of veganism. No buy. beans. And I don't know. I see that. you're away, but I feel like vegan. Is. that why he's hasn't grown past 5' 3? How dare you? Um, so I was vegetarian. first for 10 years. I actually don't. care. I was just trying to make a joke. about him. No, I'm telling you. I'm. telling you. And then I was vegan. I'm. not going to let you. I was vegan and.

Okay. What's going on? A lot. A lot is. going on. Yeah. How about an actual. answer? I was getting there. Were you. You're always getting there and then you. never seem to arrive. Am I right? Am I. right, guys? Jesus Christ. I don't know. if that's I don't know if that's a good. thing to Okay. Anyways, um. she just takes a little minute. She has. a little intro. She needs to warm it up. So, it's just has a lot of money on it. That's what's going on. I don't know, right, dude? Um because I put a lot of.
money on it and no. Okay. Honestly, yeah, that's going to help me solve this. problem. Well, yep. You ask. Why is. there a lot of Why is the balance high? Why is the balance? I was I was so. tempted to say I bought things, but um. What are you doing? Listen, there's $283. of purchases on here. $369 minimum. monthly payment. I paid them off. immediately though. So the the purchases. but no no it doesn't [ __ ] matter if. you paid just those purchases off. because then hey sh because with the.
interest acrewing of. $211 your balance only went down a. couple hundred. Yeah. And it sucks. I. know. Yeah. That's why your choice. though. Well, okay. The your purchases. were on there. The 200 The 200 was one. of the rat things because we hadn't. gotten paid yet and we were literally at. the vet with him. What was I going to. say? No, don't do the emergency surgery. Yeah, it was also a $70 purchase at a. restaurant. It actually isn't a. restaurant. It's um a subscription. I'm. pretty sure a subscription. What does it.
What does it say? What does it say? Drop. out. Yeah. Oh, what is it? That is a. subscription actually. Yeah. What is it? It's an annual It's like a streaming. service. It's an annual subscription and. it's for like. you know the people that used to do. College Humor. Yeah. You know, College. Humor. Okay. Yeah. It's like them and. they have like their own like shows that. they make. You look like someone that. would cancel College Humor. Okay. I. mean, they're just funny. You should. watch it. Okay. How long does this take. to pay off only doing minimum pay.
minimum payments? 100 years without. Okay. Sorry. I think so. I think that's. without you purchasing on But you always. purchase. I know. To get your special. college humor subscription. Well, to be. fair, it's not always. Not always. What? We don't always. purchase. And the the subscription the. subscription is annual. Yeah, that was. an accident. Yeah, that was an we forgot. about it. It was an annual subscription. We had got like a discount for it the. first time. So Uhhuh. I used to pay it. off as as everyone says. Um but I don't.
know. I think I never looked at it, you. know. It was like I was it was always. like actually fine. Even though you've. always paid it off then. I don't have. any late fees. I've never had a late. fee. You mean you've made a minimum. payment now? You've always paid it off. No. No. I used to like in the beginning. I had you don't even look at it. I did. look at it at that time and then what. made you stop looking at being with that. ex and just having to pay for stuff all. the time. It was just very stressful and. I didn't want to look at it. I don't. know.
Is everything everything ever going to. always just come back to the ex or is. there any or is there any personal. responsibility in this? No, there is. There is because so that I was giving. the I was getting there. So, I used to. pay it off, buddy. What the [ __ ] And I. stopped paying it off as much. Throw. something at her next time she says. that. Don't do that. Um, I I stopped. paying it off as much because of that. situation. And then when me and him. broke up, um, and I said I just like.
started buying myself stuff. So then I. really stopped looking at it because I. was like, I want things. I couldn't tell. you the actual number. Um, 2019. Cool. You've had 5 years. What the Yeah. And. they Yeah. You've had 5 years. What the. Well, I would say the issues 5 years. What the I would say the issues came. after too. They What the Yeah, I will. 5. years. Yes. So of doing nothing of not. giving a No, the 5 years is the [ __ ]. up. Yeah. 5 years ising up the whole 5. years until right now cuz it is.
borderline close to being maxed out. essentially. Yeah. Yeah. Um so I think. where it started to go wrong is what. year was that? 2021 or 2022? What do you mean? Um, when I started. getting a bunch of Squishallas. Oh, I hate to be a stereotype. I do started. out the the watchers will know. They'll. look at me and they'll be like, "Yeah, she would have me like I'm the weird. one." Yeah. Because if you ever walked.
into CVS, you'd see. Squishallows or Walmart. You never You. never need a prescription. Costco's got. the big ones. You ain't trying to get. groceries for cheap. I go to HB. You guys don't have. But you have your own versions. What are. you talking about? I don't even know. what it is of a grocery store. We have. Walmart. You have more than You live in. Tampa. We have Trader Joe's, too. There. you go. Okay. Sending me pictures. They're little plushy things. Mhm. Yes.
They're very cute. I'll show you my. collection. $25,000 plushy debt. Not. that not quite that much, but I. definitely was going a little crazy. Um, I wasn't I I was going to say I wasn't. buying them like new. That's the closest. you've gotten to paying this off the. last 5 years. Have you? I couldn't tell. you. I really couldn't because this is. on honestly this is part of what pushed. us to like me pushed me to like fully be. honest about my finances because what. this does being maxed out and then still. being maxed out 5 years later. Yeah. Not.
not Well, obviously not that long ago, but it was like it was getting really. bad. How long has it been since you came. clean? M like a year, a year and a half. A year and a half. Okay. So, you've done. nothing in a year and a half. And you're. okay with that? You're okay with your. person that you're going to marry doing. absolutely nothing about this. Honestly, to be completely honest, insane credit. card balance. This I was in bad debt. This is almost as much as my entirety of. my multiple bad debts when I got out of. debt. This is one credit card. This. ising crazy. Yeah. And it's not that,
you know, I have an issue of like. nothing happening about it. Like. obviously we're trying to do, don't you? I haven't. And I did and he knows I did. I did make big strides. I did get some. money from a relative a few years back. and I put like a lot of that towards. paying it off. So like I was making. strides probably like two years ago or. three. How much did you get? I don't. even remember. To be honest, how did you. get the money? Why did you get the. money? A relative was nice and gave it. to me. No. How much money? I I don't. know. No. About how much money? Hold on.
No, no, no, no, no. know how much money? I really don't know. How about rounded? Give me a range then, lady. I don't. know. I think I used How can you not. know? Who am I talking to right now? I. can say that. I think I used like 10,000. to pay down the credit card. You've got. at least 10,000 and you pay and it's. maxed out today. Mhm. Well, I don't have. more. Yeah. Yeah. And Oh, 10,000. Oh,
that the compounding. Mhm. Oh, compounding an investment account that. would have meant so much money by the. time you retired. Oh, for me. Yeah, but I That's so moronic. $10,000. It's gone like that. I know. I know. And. that's another thing. It's like And then. there's nothing to show for it though. cuz you built it all the way back up. other than a collection of of plushies. Do you still have the plushies? I do. Well, sell them. No. Okay. So, I guess we don't care about.
going to Oregon or going to grad school. or paying off that or having an. emergency fund or making sure we can. take care of our rats next time they get. sick. I'm not going to sell the dragons. and I'm not going to sell the Halloween. ones because they're more important than. the rats. No. Uh, with your actions, you. are saying yes. With your actions, you. are saying yes. I hear you, but it's. just like I hear me, but here's a thing. I'm going to say. No, absolutely not. You just need certain things throughout. like you need a dragon plushy. I'm not. saying you necessarily need a dragon. plushy. What the are you talking about?
Everyone needs, you know, not a dragon. plushy. Not a dragon plushy. They need a. metaphorical Squishallow. They need a. little a little a little treat, you. know, every now and then. Every now and. then that's fine. This is a permanent. one that you Huh? Oh, I just said don't. say little treat. Well, you guys you. guys see usually, honestly, half the. time, no, not half the time, 90% of the. time, I have couples on here and they. kind of go at it because they have. disagreements, things are really hard. No, you guys are actually even worse. You just fully enable your We disagree.
sometimes. No, you fully enable each. other's bad behavior and allowing you to. never make progress in life. I mean, I. don't think it's all the way just. enabling though. It's No, I I think it. is. I'm not going to lie. I'm not going. to lie because No, a potential. reasonable one because I'll be like I'll. be like, "Oh, but I really want this. limited like when I was getting a lot of. submission cuz I'm not anymore. I've. I've I'm not I haven't bought one in. like a long time." Anyways, I would ask. him and I'd be like, "Is it okay if I. get this one?" Because like I just.
didn't, like I said, I didn't look at. things. So I'd be like, "Is it okay?". And he would just kind of like say, "Yes, no." How much have you spent on. [ __ ] squish melons? Mellows, maybe. Um I I'm scared to even think about. that. Think for a second without a. massive story needing to be recalled. I. wasn't going to tell a story. Thank you. I don't know. I kind of saw it on those. On what? Don't Were you going to say. something mean? Yes. No. But I chose not. to. But I now I want to know. That is.
That's progress. That's restraint. That's the first steps. I have it here. and there. Yeah. At least 500 at It's going to definitely. be more than 500. over a span of time. Not like all at. once. Probably a few stacks over the. inheritance was $45,000. Well, there you. go. Oh, I told you I didn't know.
That could have been your. guys'sing 20% down. That could have. grown into a 20% down on a house. That. could have been child care for a kid. That could have been retirement. That I. don't I don't know. Yeah, it would. probably come out as a demon. I don't. know. I don't know if we want that. either. All I'm saying that could have. been so much. That could have been so. many vacations. That could have been. compound growth beyond compound growth. That could have taken care of the rats. That could have taken care of every rat. forever and it's gone with nothing to.
show for it because all you've done is. just put all the debt right back up. Yep. All for the sake of squishing. But. I didn't use all of it for the the. credit cards. I used the 10,000 for it, I'm pretty sure. So, but Where did the. rest of it go? I don't know. Emergencies. probably. No bull. Come on. Where did it. go? Where do you think it went? Well, actually, well, you'll probably just. support exactly what she said because. you guys don't know how to call each. other. Yeah. But there was like a. portion of time where like I was.
unemployed. And why that was a big. factor. So when I was going to work, I. was getting paid very like not a lot of. money and I had a decent drive. I was. getting paid like 1350 for an hour. I. was an EMT. I was an EMT. Okay. And well, that's. money. Money pays bills. But uh I don't know if you know this, but $13 pays more money than $0. It's. just an interesting mathematical.
situation. I know what you mean, but. when I was trying to drive to work, I. would have to take like tolls and stuff. Sure. And the drive ended up being like. so expensive that I was like I this. isn't going to be What are you saying? See, he does it too. I ended up having. to leave that position. Why? Because it. was getting too expensive to get to. there to work. Money and the hours. How many hours a. week were No, no, not that. It was He. was working like weird.
overnightish. We all do that. 12 hour. shift. There you go. Then you made more. in that shift than it cost to get there. if it was a 12 hour shift. I was making. I was wearing like 56 hours. Take that. microphone, point it to your face. Twist. it to that mouth. Okay. All right. So, I just it it really wasn't making a. lot and the hours with everything like. our relationship wasn't doing great when. I was working there, especially we were.
having a lot of arguments. She felt like. we didn't have a lot of time together. And so I started trying to like, you. know, look at other jobs. and nothing was hiring. And then by. Nothing was hiring you with your current. resume or a job that you were willing to. accept. That wasn't it? Cuz you got Yes, it was. No, no, no. Like eventually we. got like a few When was you worked at. Chedders? When was this? Oh, yeah. I did. work at Chedders. When was this? Um. 2023. No. Yeah, you could have got a. job. Yeah, but in Florida. I worked at.
Chedders for a little while. did get a. job which was like a restaurant. Okay. Well, essentially said he didn't but. I was unemployed for a period of time. and I guess it was incapable of. just how does this mean? Cuz we used my. savings to kind of like stay afloat. Why. didn't you go work more? Because I. didn't not I didn't want to. I was going. to say that but I'm not going to say. that because that's true. It's not okay. Then what? I have a lot of health.
problems. What? I mean, we don't know. yet. That's That's the problem. No. Then. what happens? No, it's true. I'm. literally going to the doctor. I'm. asking what the happens. I mean, I have. some sort of arthritis and so like with. my job, I'm a barista, you know, doing. repetitive movements. Yeah, maybe we. don't do that job. Yeah, but and do what. else? That's going to pay me 2217. uh for the vast majority of jobs with no. degree. With no degree. Okay. is a. little harder to get into. I can gift. you a course career certification of. your choice to help you change things up.
career fieldwise. But either way, you. would have to use the experience, hopefully managerial experience you have. there and try to get into a company. It's likely going to maybe be lower out. of the gate, but with career. opportunities internally and there's. actually relatively decent career. opportunities within Starbucks. But. either way, and actually decent benefits. as well, but either way, if it is not. working with your body, yes, maybe we. have to do something else. But I like. the job. I know. I know. Do we like. paying bills and draining our savings or.
what and liking the job or actually do. something? There can be a happy medium. Well, there wasn't. You blew through. your savings at the time impacts now and. you're continuing the same things. If. you got that lump sum today, you would. do the same dumbory because nothing. You. spent double what you guys make, right? Because of the rat situation. The rat. was like $1,500. So that's not true. I. don't know if you guys know this, but. $1,500 is not double. $6,500.
So wrong. Sure. Sure. Okay. If it makes you feel. better, I did do like a good thing. I. contacted Discover in December because I. was stressed out about it being maxed. out and I have like a a low interest. rate now for a period of time. Low. Yeah. Compared to what they are. Yeah, compared to all of the other lower not. low. It is not a low interest rate. It. is a lower interest rate. Still not. something to celebrate cuz it is [ __ ].
you beyond belief. It is barely keeping. up with the S&P 500. Not feeding me as. much as the other interest rate was. Yes. Sure. That doesn't mean it's good. though. I think there can be small wins. That's how positive reinforcements. You. know what actually you know because you. feel like you got a small win. You know. why that's actually bad and why I'm. going to tell you go yourself? It's. because that small win has actually made. you feel like you don't need to pay this. off because you had a small win and. that's why it is still maxed out. Why. you're spending hundreds of dollars on. there on a monthly basis because you. feel like you made progress but in.
reality you didn't and now you'reing. yourself because you thought you won but. you're just getting beat the balance. You helped the credit card company win. For all my current or aspiring content. creators, keep listening. Making videos. can seem like a breeze, but let me tell. you the truth. It's not only hard, but. it takes time and a lot of it. But with. tools like today's sponsor, Invido, it. doesn't have to be. Invido is a tool. using AI that empowers you to make. whatever kind of content you need.
without the usual hassle. Say goodbye to. hours at the editing dock, days of. filming, and recording your own. voiceovers. For example, let's create a. one-minute trailer where Indiana Jones. discovers a new age influencer at Area. 51. Under the moonlit desert sky, Indiana Jones faces a tall barbed wire. fence. Indie crouches, cutting through. the fence. The desert is quiet, his face.
halflit by the moon as he sneaks inside. Inside a large, dark hanger. Step two, make sure things are perfect. Want to. change the music? Type add dramatic. music that's similar to the original. Indiana Jones soundtrack. And just like. that, you get the music you need. Need a. voice over? You can even clone your. voice so it sounds just like you. Indiana, always the skeptic, is drawn. into her world of crystals, prophecies, and extraterrestrial whispers. Within. video, it's like you have your own.
content studio without the space and. massive overhead start to finish. It's. your creative partner helping you get. started irrespective of the skill level. you're already at. Use. my link and code in the description. This will save you hundreds of dollars. that you would have otherwise spent on. editing, animating, and other production. costs. Try out the future of video. creation today. Sake. Okay. What is.
Discover It? Whose is this? Um, it's. probably mine. Yeah, your Discover it cuz the other one. was Discover it, too. Okay. Okay. Another big balance. It's not as. big as. yours. $6,6855. Minimum monthly payment. $170. No. purchases. Well done. Thank you. Basically maxed out though, so it's not. like no purchases weren't being done. recently. 27 years to pay this off. 99.
years for the last card. So, we're. paying off debt for the rest of our Was. it 99, not 100? It went down. It was. 100. So, last statement. There's another. win. Sounds like you don't progress. I. think positive reinforcement is a good. thing. I'm sorry if you think that is a. good thing to think. However, look at. the actual results. It hasn't worked for. you. Positive reinforcement works in. some it has worked because these this. month is better than other months. I. know that that's like it's not good. stuff. Being basically maxed out is. better. Okay. Like it's still a small. you allowing yourself to take these wins.
Mhm. and making them bigger, better than. they are is preventing you from actually. digging in and taking care of it's. allowing it's enabling you to spend that. money you spend on the other credit. card. I'm okay with small wins. I'm okay. with positive reinforcement. There's a. place for negative. There's a place for. positive. This place you're using this. as a crutch and then you guys enable. each other. You're not using positive. reinforcement correctly. You'reing. yourself. You're. destroy what's up with this card. What's. going on guy? Uh so I opened that when I.
was like in college and whenever I had. anything that I wasn't able to pay for. uh like books or and then I guess also. when we started dating you know we had. we started going out to eat I started. putting that on the cards sometimes. and it I basically maxed it out and when. because it basically still is um I would. say maybe.
like 2022 2023. So what have we still. been spending on there then? Obviously. keeping it at the max. Well, I was just. doing the minimum monthly payments. Yeah, but that would have gotten you. lower than you are now without. purchasing. So what have you been. purchasing? I not in this month, but you. have been purchasing. You've had to even. remember it. Really? I I bet it's vapes. and I mean probably vapes here and. there, you know. Um if I ever like. really needed it or I guess not needed.
it but wanted it over like what was it. 150 bucks a month? 175 something like. that. And I mean you know I also had. like lunch at work sometimes. You know I. have like the Huh. pack. Well, yeah. I. understand that packing. Absolutely. Packing is the way to do it, but. sometimes I forget and sometimes meal. prep. Have it ready to go. I know, but. it's a lot to do. Especially It's. literally not. Well, hold on a second. It's like actually the least amount. Oh, I I truly just disagree. Well, you're.
right. Sitting on a couch is a less. amount of something. It's not that I'm. sitting on the couch. I work like two. overtime shifts a week and I So you have. two shifts to pack for? Not two shifts. to pack for because I have like my. whole, you know, normal work schedule. Monday through Friday. How many hours a. week do you work? I work. um 56 hours a week. Okay. Okay. That is. definitely on the higher end. Absolutely. You still have time to meal. prep. Sandwiches are cheap and easy. No.
Pack in a bag of chips in a Ziploc bag. Chill. or whatever the vegan. I don't know. These are great. The dirtier the better. I agree. It's just been a little bit. difficult getting into that like cycle. especially cuz like There you go. That's. the issue. You're not getting in the. cycle. You're not pushing yourself. You're not actually taking the. sacrifices necessary. We really try to. like. his Red Bulls though. The Red Bulls is a.
thing that I'll get every now and then. At gas stations or vending machines? Why. not buy in bulk? You jerked off Costco's. dick earlier. Go buy it bulk. We don't. have the membership. We don't have the. membership for Costco anymore. Walmart. Yeah. Well, he gets he gets big packs of. Coke from Walmart. I do get big packs of. Coke. There, too. If you're going to try. I'm not against having beverages. Just. put it in your grocery budget. Yeah. You. can't be stopping and getting a price. per ounce that's absolutely ridiculous. at a gas station. I know. And that was I.
guess the plan was to try to like not. have the Red Bulls at all. And that's. why I never buy them in bulk cuz I. always try to be like, "All right, you. know, if I have a Red Bull, I'll try to. have it like once or twice that week, especially on the days that I work my. overtime shift. Cuz on Fridays, for. example, I get in at 8:00 a.m. I don't. leave till 12:30 a.m. Yeah, I'm with. you. Okay. I uh help him. I go get a. rental. I go meal prep. Help me prep.
Take care of each other. He takes care. of certain things. You take care of. other things. We support each other in. different ways. And like I'm not saying. I won't because like literally recently. we have been like trying to split the. cuz I don't I don't really cook. I. don't cook. He's He likes to cook. Great. Well, he's the one that works 60. hours a week. Yeah. How many hours a. week you work? 32 to 34. Um, yeah. But, but okay. So, I'm an opener at Starbucks. and I wake up at 2:45 and then I come.
home really early. Yeah, but there you. go. Yeah, but we haven't a lot Okay, I'm. getting there. Um, as per usual, if you. will let me finish. Um, but I actually. don't even know where I was going now. So, that's why I usually don't let you. finish. That's valid, actually. Yeah. But I think the the main issue is. uh especially with the cooking is we. haven't had those talks where we sit. down and try to think about like well.
when we try to think about like what. exactly would be the meals that we would. go into. um some of it goes into like all right. well I have like a certain medical. condition where certain things that I'll. eat like either make me very nauseous or. you know make it very unpleasant for me. You know what it is? Yeah. Uh how. restrictive? I mean it's the reason why. I went vegan. Well, what is it? Just you. eat beef and you [ __ ] guts out. partially. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. You know,
um we already guys know that you're. vegan, so just do this vegan. I don't It. It's also just like we'll be thinking. about how we can have those meals, like. what type of meals we can meal prep. And. I guess we just disconnect there. Like. we don't No, it's because I we can't eat. a lot of the same things cuz I like a. lot of like fresh like vegetables and. leafy greens and he can't eat those. So. looking at me like fantastic. Why can't. you eat those? Well, sometimes it's far.
too much fiber and like usually Can you. eat them, dude? Cooked vegetables and. stuff and like a lot of cooked. vegetables. What do you do eat. vegetables? Soy. Tofu. Tofu. When you said eat a. block of tofu, that's literally what my. dinner was. You just go into your little. goblin hole and eating blocks of tofu. Damn straight. With some spicy mayo. Mhm. Yeah. Air fried. That's not real. mayonnaise. No, it's fake mayonnaise.
That is so silly whenever people say. that. Like, we told you we're vegan. Obviously, it's not real mayonnaise. Let's not call it mayonnaise, then. Well, that's what it says on the jar. Okay. Says plant-based mayonnaise. Our. dogs are those dogs. Let's not call it. that then. No, but that's the name of. the food. And it's the name of the food. Yeah, but it's not mayonnaise. Listen, all I'm going to say is I'm. doing a little hehas on vegan. I would. actually enjoy vegan cheese if they. didn't say it was cheese. Nah, you're. tripping. You're.
tripping. That's just a problem for the. actual food item. It doesn't taste or. have the texture. How dare you? How dare. you? Have you had Rebel Cheese? They're. They're local here. I learned that and. they're fantastic. I've been there and. it was actually the worst restaurant. I've been to this last year. I don't. know about their restaurant. I don't. care. But their cheese is good. Well, they serve the cheese there. Fantastic. I don't know. Oh my Well, I had a lot of. their cheese. I had like their sampler. platter. You had the bree, huh? The. bree? Yeah, dude. I had like so much. I. had like theiring I had so much there. It was the worst wrestling experience. I've had in the last year and I'll never.
go. Maybe you don't like cheese. I love. cheese. Uh cheese. Listen, here's the. thing again. I when I go to the farmers. market here, there's lots of vegan. things. I would actively just if they. had a different name for what it is, if. they called it fama jam and I'm like, "Oh, what's fama jam?" "Oh, that is. really interesting." And they didn't. say, "This is cheese." And then I put it. in my mouth and it's like not even in. the same world as cheese, they just call. it something else. And I'm totally down. cuz then it's its own food. N don't call.
something meat if it's not meat. It. doesn't taste like meat. It doesn't have. the texture of meat. It's not meat. We. could put you on some things that. actually taste like I had guess what I. had all the best juicy marbles at Rebel. I had all their deli marbles. I don't. know if juicy. marbles blow your mind away. They should put us on the payroll when. we sell them like hype them up to. people. I'm going to try it and it will.
be at the end of this episode. Oh. And I. will give an actual real review of. someone that's able to eat also just. food so I know what other things taste. like. Okay. Bank of America credit card. Who's this? Oh, that's me. What's up? I opened that. up because we were moving into our alone. apartment. And at that point, the lone. apartment, he was saying without the. roommate. And it was when I was. transitioning into being an EMT when we. had first moved into that like loner.
apartment together. What? No, no, no, never mind. Never mind. It was after. that. No, literally everything. I'm. tripping. I'm tripping. I'm tripping. But I didn't have the That was when you. were the paycheck. No, I didn't have the. paycheck yet. Like I had started the. Cheddar's job, but I didn't have the. paycheck yet. Sure. I don't know. And I. opened up that Bank of America card to. put first month's rent on. You put rent. on a credit card on it? Yeah, absolutely. Oh my. god. Oh. Oh, dude. It's basically maxed.
out again. So, you may not have. purchased this month, but you definitely. have within the last few. There's no. mathematical reality world where you. didn't have recently purchased. Um, there it wouldn't be possible. No, the the minimum dude, it wouldn't be. possible. The minimum monthly payment on. that one was super low for a long time. and I was only paying them to nine years. to pay off. The minimum for sake. Yeah, minimum [ __ ]. sake. I mean, this isn't related, but.
they just wanted to feed me a little you. to me. Just ruined my day. You you. didn't pay your taxes in 2023. Why? For why? It's not like you make. money. No, no, no. So, I mean, you do. actually. No, you do now. No, never. mind. I I was going to I was more. thinking you when we had and I think it. must have been an issue. It was that we. moved apartments. Yeah. Um so when we. had Yeah. Like getting it mailed to you. Oh my gosh. You can get it once. Well,
hold on. Here's the thing. I looked up. on Okay. You guys have two catchphrases. Here's the thing is yours and let me get. there is yours. Well, maybe if you you. guys just repeat those to each other all. day. You just walk around like little. NPCs. Well, here's probably honestly. Yeah, sometimes. Let me get there. Well, here's the thing. Absolutely. Okay. Well, tell me the thing that's here. All. right. So, the issue is I never got the. mic would be preferable. Sorry, I didn't. get that. I didn't get that W2 in the. mail and then I tried to look it up.
online. I really did. I couldn't find. it. What is that? 5 minutes on the. internet. No. Did you call them? I. called them and they gave me an email to. email. I emailed them several times and. they never emailed me back. Did you call. them again? Yes. And then I called my. supervisor cuz I still had like his. number. Yeah. I was like, "Dude, I don't. have my W2. I can't find it online." And. he gave me the same email again. And I. was like, "Yeah, it sucks. What the. heck?" Uh, okay. Well, it's been a. couple years. Yeah, it's I feel like it.
goes in with Do they tell you how much. you. owe? You just haven't filed. Yeah. And. 2023. No. you're likely not going to be. on the radar anyway, but like that's. still. I mean it could it could randomly. throughout the next few years if. something I don't know who knows you. never know how things change. I know and. I I am trying to get like somewhere with. it. I think I say you filed for an. extension. I did file for an extension.
when I didn't get that W2 and but then I. kept trying to like email and call and I. never got the W2 so I missed the like. extension. Did you pay 2024's taxes? Uh, not yet. Like, you haven't had to. We're. not We're not at the deadline yet at the. time of filming this. So, pretty close. though. I know. I know. I What What does. your tax situation look like for this. next year? Shouldn't be too crazy if. withholdings are It's just W2. So, yeah. But I mean, I'm assuming that whatever. return I would have gotten on that 2023,
I probably won't be receiving when I do. You guys usually put your tax returns. I. I usually do Turbo. I know. guys. usually, no, I'm not the platform. What. do you guys do with your tax returns? Cuz usually when we're in a financial. position, a lot of people rely on their. tax returns. Um, in a way, in a little. bit of a way this time for me, cuz I I. filed like ASAP as soon as I could. As. soon as I last for I don't know, in. January. Yeah. For last year. Yeah. Yeah. For last year. Okay. Did you get. the money? Mhm. What What did you use it. for? Um, it was like fate almost because.
I got like the exact amount that I got. was how much money we had left. What. credit card did you pay off? Um, it. wasn't a credit card. It was a loan for. a PC. For But you paid off the loan. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. All the way. All the. way. It was like the same exact amount. It was fake. Yeah. When the did you get. this PC? Um, how much was it? 1,500. I think you got a loan for that. Well, you could have cash flow that is. income. We did like the bread pay thing.
We were We were We didn't look into it. enough. It was We thought it was Is it. even good? What do you have? 340 or. something. I don't know anything about. anything. I play Stardew Valley. That's. all I have. I play Stardw Valley. Yeah, you could have got a Switch. We have a. Switch. We have a Switch and I have it. on my the Xbox as well. Okay. Anyways, um Okay. It was one of those. It's It. was almost like Afterpay kind of thing. Yeah, it's like. after great. I don't remember if I said. it, but you owe. $1,87858 on here. Minimum payment $57. 9.
years to pay off. Interest rate. 27.24%. Synchrony. What's this? Who Who's is a. synchrony? Me. What's going on? It's my. Care. Credit. So, yeah, it is. I don't like. Care Credit. Oh, yeah. I have them. And. you refuse to get rid of them because. I'm trying. I don't I don't refuse. I. want to. I'm just Well, you're not. making the choices that would do that. I'm getting there. But kind of. Not. again. Like usual. No, you're actually. not a little bit with your food spending.
and your boat. Okay. Yeah, that's I'll. give you that one with the food. But. yeah, you'll give me reality. Thank you. I appreciate sometimes. Um, so I I'm. sorry. 13 years to pay off. $2,845 $92 minimum payment. Why'd you. get into this? How did you get into. this? In 2022, I think maybe. So like I. had braces when I was little and I. always wore my retainers. Yes, I'm going. back to braces. I had always worn my. retainers because I don't know, I wanted. my teeth to stay nice. Like I don't. know, most people don't do that, you.
know, but I did. Not like saying in any. type of way. Thank you. I appreciate. that. Um but. so this is all invisal line. Not all. So. So. yeah. Okay. 13 years to pay. off. Yeah. Lots of interest this year so. far. Just this year so far. 300. Yeah. And I don't even think I've made a. purchase at all on there. So it's like I.
mean like obviously %. Okay. Is that all. the debt? Mm-m. No. No, definitely not. Wait, what is this? What am I? Okay, I. have an account here. Yeah. Uh oh. Balance 40,000. Oh, yeah. Total 40. Uh. auto Subaru 2022 Subaru Legacy. Yes, sir. Okay. Why'd you get a 2022. with your guys' financial situation? Why. would we get a $40,000 Why would we get. a $40,000 car in your guys' financial.
position, guys? I mean, guys, $40,8528. Come on. Yeah. No, I definitely hear you. about it. And hey, it it's not fantastic. for sure, but I don't think it's the. worst. At the same time, I told you not. to say that. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. You're right. $100,000 lose. No. No. It's Hold on. So, before that, I had. like a 2012 Chrysler 200. Um, and when I.
had bought that car, it was just cuz I. had an ' 06 before that. 06 what? It was. like a Mercedes A350. Oh, why as. that one? That one wasn't my idea, but. that one was a cheap car that I had. You. got the dealer mobile and then something. happened. Okay. Yeah, we Okay. Yep. And every single time I've had to take. it to the mechanic, it's been like. several thousands of dollars. Understand. why the sequels get a $40,000. Well,
here's the thing. When I was driving the dealer mobile, yes, one of the issues that it had was. like control arm issues that the. mechanic had said, but it had like spun. out and I was just out of control on the. highway and ended up perpendicular to. the lanes. And that just really got me. sketched out about the car already. And. when I had gotten that car, I was trying. to get purposely a cheap a cheaper car.
What was cheaper? Well, that one was. like uh $10,000. Get a $20,000 car. No, like better than 40. And I hear you, but. that was like a 20some,000 car and I had. to roll over negative equity from How. much? It had like 5 to 6K of negative. equity on it. So, it would have been a. $25,000 loan and I got like gap. insurance with it. and all these warranties and all that. [ __ ] all the way up to what when did.
you get this? We got it just last year. And how much was it? Well, the whole. thing. The whole package. I don't think. they told me like the full number. What's the interest rate? It's 8.24. Oh, for sake. 8.2 on $40,000. I know. Term. length like 80 something. longterm. Why? Okay. What's the minimum. monthly? The minimum monthly is like. 668. Good death. How the can you think you. can even afford that? Well, that's the.
thing. I started What's the thing? I. started working a lot more of the. overtime shift and I was very regular. with that. And so, you know, my income. had inflated. It basically doubled from. where it was and I didn't want to get. another car where I was just like, man, but there's a middle ground. I know that. there's a middle ground, but I would go. there. I got very excited about it. because it was a used. car like 9 years. I will die in that.
car. You could bury me in that car. You. probably will if you drive like you did. in the Charger. Well, it wasn't a. charger. Late payment payment assessed. fee. Hey, we paid all our bills on time. They said that earlier in the. conversation. I said that. Well, this is. about to be your husband. Yeah. That was. Yeah. Here's the thing. Here's the. thing. So, I believed cuz when I first. called to make a payment uh when we got. it, I need to put you at two times.
speed. Can I push that button? I say. that all the time. I'm like, "Let's. speed it up. Let's go." I'm sorry. You. know, it's just the way I speak. But. when I went and I got it, I called do. the payment. They're like, "So, there's. a 10-day grace period in order to make. the payments, and the payment is at the. end of the month." So, I had boring. Okay. You had a late fee. I had a late. fee. 8.24% interest rate. Is a better interest than the last car. What do you drive? Um, I drive What is.
the car worth? Do we know? Do we know? A. 2017 Honda Civic. Does anyone know what. your car is worth? My car is like 25 or. like anywhere between 23 and $25,000. Assume 23 then that's an insane negative. equity position. Do you have a loan on. your car? Thank how is your car? I mean. I don't like it's good in the terms that. I don't have a loan and I don't have to. pay money for it but it's kind of like. screwed up. Why? How? Tell me. Cuz. people hit my car a lot. It's like I get.
in a lot of accidents and like they are. actually genuinely not me. I don't know. Ask Tampa drivers. They're literally. crazy. Like I got rear ended while I was. fully on flight. No. Okay. So, I got. rear. This was the first time I got rear. ended. Oh, no. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. And just to like make it. even better, there's part of this that. has to do with the ex cuz you let his. friend drive my car while he was on. accident. Not going down. You get an. accident. You get an accident. I got. rearended. Yeah. You get an accident. because No, I drive very well. Thank. you. Well, then your insurance would.
cover it. No. No. No. Because I didn't. call the cops cuz the guy, it was my. first accident and the guy was very. like, "Oh, are you all hurt? Do you need. a ride home? I'll call you an Uber.". Like he was like very nice and accident. would imply more than one. Well, that. time and then my insurance did cover. It. wasn't like moneywise. It was just How's. the condition of your car? Drivable. drivable. Drivable. It's all the way. It's chill. It's just that it doesn't. have I don't care. The rest doesn't. matter. Lights replace them. Yeah. No, like the place and get like a wire.
harness like $2,000. We might need that. because you're probably going to get. pulled in and get a ticket, right? No, no, no. So, we have a system. Yeah, we. have a system. She doesn't drive her car. at night. I have brake lights. Like, I. have enough. They're legal. And I have. like a little bit of headlights. Like, not the full headlights, but so I don't. drive it in the morning. He drives. I. drive his car to work. And then he. stops. You've had four reandings. Yeah, I'm literally just stopped. I don't know. what you want from me. Like, they hit.
me. No, I want you to go get and try to. and claim insurance and call the cops do. the proper things. It's And I think. you'll probably once I say this see a. common theme is like we're just chronic. pusher offers of things like we want to. do things but we just keep pushing them. off because you refuse to make a single. plan. So why would you do things now? Yeah. I mean it aligns with your entire. world view and what you do in life. So, I'm not surprised. Student loans. I see. $21,922. So, whose are these? Mine. For.
what? I got a bachelor's in biomedical. science. Cool. Is there a minimum. monthly payment associated with these? Not right now. They're in forbearance. Okay. When does that end? I don't know. when the for forbearance. That's what it. said when I looked. Yeah. Not deferment. Forbearance. Forbearance. That's what it said. You're 100% sure. I'm not confident in that. Yeah. I don't. know. Okay. And you talked to them and.
said you had hardship or something? No. Just nothing happened. Yeah. I don't It. just It just got put on that and I said, "Okay." Does it have a ending date? Not. that I saw when I went. And it's also. just trying to figure out exactly how to. figure how to fix the finances, you.
know, like how do we tackle things? Done. to fix finances. odd. Actually, I know. everyone says that and then you don't. believe them and you don't care, but. like it's genuinely true. Double what. you made. Yeah. But it's genuinely true. What have you done? If you would have. seen the other. statements and there it would have been. like food like cuz mine wasn't too bad. like this time, but other statements. it's like fast food like crazy. 1,356. We won't put in the student loans. one for now. So, we need minimum for. survival. What's rent again? Um, 148. Utilities? 130. Where' those little papers go with. it being variable? Don't have a vegan cookbook. Uh, but you do get the cookbook again cuz. you were here. TP fund. Anything else to. survive? This is salons. This is. whatever you need. This is tampons. This. is toilet paper. This is makeup. This is.
whatever. Okay. It is also body wash. $200 medical on a monthly basis. Co-pays, all that good stuff. I think. that's it. Gyms at the apartment complex. Pet food. Mhm. 120. Pet insurance. Uh, we need to get it for the cats. And. we don't have it for the cats. How old. are the cats? No, Meg is one of the. girls is um 10. Okay. Nope. Then yeah,
exactly. The other one. The other one is. like three. She needs good health. She's. in good health. I'll put 40. And for the. rats, I want to get it for the three. rats, too. It was like there. Yeah. Plus. an additional 45. So pet uh would be a. total of 85, I guess. Okay, we definitely have some leg room. It's not huge. $5,779 is what you need to survive. Mhm. If we do the $6,250 that you think comes. in on a normal month, that's $471 left.
over. $471. We can minimum payments. student loans till they're paid off. You. need to get back on that. Get on the. 10-year 10-year traditional repayment. plan. Okay. It's going to be a while. It's going to take 161 months. Round it. up. 162. Really? 162 that is. 13 and 12 years. It might be. we definitely need to fix your income. situation. You're hourly. It's okay, but. you're also just not getting enough. hours and you're already working a lot.
You might just need to also work 60. hours a week and it maybe that's the. second job. If we do that, if we're able. to double this with an extra $1,000 a. month, then with like 75. pay this off in six years, that's okay. It's still hard. Listen, student loans. won't. go this way, but it might be worth. bankruptcy. But only if only if you. change your behavior first. You do not. go bank through bankruptcy until you've. proven you can change your behavior. Again, the Simpler Budget app actually.
tells you everything you need to know. It's all automated, so no excuses. anymore. Go through all the classes, the. debt one, especially the budgeting one, especially eventually the investing one, and eventually the real estate one. You. get them for free. We have all the tools necessary to. change your behavior. We don't have all. the tools necessary to speed this up. above six years. And that's if you bring. in $1,000 a month, so an extra $500 net, which you could do if you want. Yeah. My. store manager wants you to tell me to.
work more. You can work more. I mean, yes and no. Like I used to, but my body. hurts a lot. Like it's it's scary. You. have to find another job that's better. whether or not you like this job. Okay. So, you might just need to find another. job. He won't like that you said that. I. don't give a what he likes. I want you. to get out of debt in less than a. decade, preferably. Me, too. Listen, bankruptcy is quicker in terms of even. off your credit, you know, off your. credit. than it would to take off to pay off. your debt in your current situation. Maybe we find a cheaper place as well.
That helps. The vegan situation that. also makes it harder because they give. you a little extra groceries. Cheap. Well, do it as cheap as possible. Whatever you can cut back in a healthy. way, we have to. Mhm. Whatever we can do. to boost income, we have to. And only. there it gets us like 5 years to pay off. and then call in another year for a. fully funed emergency fund. Only then. can we move to Oregon. But are you going. to wait that long to get married? That's. ridiculous. So I don't know. Yeah. Maybe. bankruptcy, maybe consolidations, but.
only if we prove it. Only if we prove we. have changed our behavior first so that. you don't do bankruptcy and get right. back into this, which a lot of people on. the show have done. so that you don't. consolidate and then build all your. debts right back up, which a lot of. people in the show have done. So, those. are your. options. You need to budget first and. change your behavior first. Then we can. figure out which option makes the best. sense for you. But you need to budget. first and actually prove it first and. not spend double what you make. Speaking. of spending in a budget, zero out of. 10.
debt crazy thing, I mean, your credit. card is what's brutal and then your car. is what's brutal. So, that's that's. going to bring us down to a one out of. 10 cuz those are bad. those weren't. there or if those were even half, maybe. it would be like a two or two two out of. 10. Emergency fund. Yeah, not much. A. one out of 10. There's like a 100 bucks. I like how you're going saving. Retirement, we're dramatically behind. You're dramatically behind. You're like. a one. You're probably closer to like a. three. I'll even out. Call it a two out. of 10 for the house. Real estate, nothing yet. Zero out of 10. It's going.
