WHOA: Trump throws his OWN ICE official UNDER THE BUS
Now it's got very little crime. >> But it's gone very differently in. Minneapolis. >> Well, it has. It's the only place. >> the the message is out that Tom Homan is. in. Commander Bovino is supposedly leaving. Minneapolis along with some CBP agents. Is this a pullback? >> I don't think it's a pullback. It's a. little bit of a change. Everybody in. this room that has a business, you know, you make little changes. You know, Bovino is very good, but he's a. pretty out there kind of a guy. And in. some cases that's good. Maybe it wasn't. good here. >> And right under the bus goes the now. former commander at large of Border.
Patrol, Greg Bovino, with Donald Trump. desperate to absolve himself of any and. all culpability. And per usual, looking. for someone to serve as the fall guy for. him. And of course, now Bovino joins the. ranks of the rest of this island of. misfit toys that make up the scorned and. fired Trump officials, including Michael. Cohen, George Papadopoulos, Gordon. Sondland, Rex Tillerson, Mike Pence, Kayleigh McEnany, Ronna McDaniel, Lauren. Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene. If only. his orbit would remember that he will. discard you the moment you lose your.
usefulness. And the only thing frankly. more pathetic than thinking that you're. Trump's ally is thinking that somehow. you're special and you're the one person. that he won't eventually throw under the. bus. In Trump's mind, no one is special. but him. You are all dispensable as far. as he's concerned. And he proves that. much on a daily basis. But I want to be. clear here. As Trump tries to absolve. himself of responsibility by claiming. that Bovino was a little out there, Bovino's actions in Minnesota did not. happen in a vacuum. They are the direct.
reflection of the culture created by the. person at the top of this. administration. The fish rots from the. head. So, if Donald Trump made it clear. that he expects certain behavior, certain actions, that's what he got. Is. Greg Bovino responsible for his own. actions? Absolutely. But would he behave. the way that he behaves without Trump. blessing him and encouraging him? Not a. chance. So, it's pretty rich to see. Donald Trump trying to diffuse. responsibility when he seems to forget. or pretend to forget that he is in. charge and the buck stops with him.
Now, with Boven out, this is the correct. first step, but I want to be clear. This. is not justice. Frankly, this person, Greg Boven, should never be allowed to. show his face again in civil society at. a bare minimum, and he should face. criminal consequences for the absolute. circus that he ushered in. And anyone. worth his or her salt in government. should not stop until and unless he's. held to account for what he's done. Just. because he was a government official. should not and must not absolve him in. the future. I will not sit idly by while.
Democrats engage in America Garland. redux, and you shouldn't either. I also. want to warn against thinking that. Boven's replacement, Tom Homan, will. somehow be a step up. The White House. has shown that there is a rotating cast. of characters perfectly willing to be. just as, if not, more depraved than. their predecessors, which means that our. job remains the same with Homan as as it. was with Boven, which is to put his. every action under microscope, film. everything, protest everything, and make. it abundantly clear that the whole. country is paying attention and.
expecting consequences in the event that. a single law, a single rule, or a single. regulation is broken or violated. Now, with all of that said, I do want to note. that Boven even being demoted unto. itself is still a striking move for an. administration that never accepts an. ounce of blame for anything. And yet, the reason for that is clear. Trump has. taken his strongest issue, immigration, and turned it into one of his worst. issues. He is so draconian, lawless, reckless, and depraved that he lost. nearly three quarters of Americans with.
the way that ICE has comported itself. throughout the entirety of this process, to the point where the guy in charge is. now fired. There's two big trends I keep. coming back to. The first is Donald. Trump's approval rating on immigration. These are questions that ask the. American people, "Do you approve or. disapprove of the administration's. policies?" essentially. Um, so this. number was plus 10 or so when Donald. Trump took office. So, 10 percentage. points more Americans said they approved. than disapproved of how he was handling. immigration. That's, I guess, a good.
position for a president to be in. However, it's not the position he's in. anymore. More recent polling has him. closer to minus 10 on average. New York. Times poll that came out last week has. him at minus 17. So, it's possible the. ground is also sort of shifting faster. than the average can keep up with. Either way, that's between an 18 and a. 27 woof uh point fall for the for the. president over over the last year. So, that's the first number. The second one. I'd look at is the abolish ICE number. Uh recently, we've gotten a lot more. polling over over this question of.
whether or not the entire agency should. be defunded or abolished. Um this was a. very unpopular idea in the 2018. campaign. People paying attention to. politics back during the blue wave will. remember it was a somewhat fringe idea. on the left uh especially among. progressives. This is not a fringe idea. anymore in the polling that I've looked. at for uh over the past 6 months or so, there's been about a 50 percentage point. increase in the net percent of Americans. who approve of abolishing ICE. It's. about plus five today, whereas it was.
minus 50 when Donald Trump won the last. election. So, like, we're just not in. the same political environment anymore. If you're looking at the data, things. have massively changed over the last. year or so. And in the specific question. of whether or not ICE has been justified. in its use of force against the killing. of, say, Renee Good and Alex Pretty, uh. the polls are overwhelmingly against the. ad- ministration. Only about 20 or 30. percentage points of Americans are. saying this is a proper use of force. So, basically, however you slice this, this is a a bad position for the. administration. It's bad policy. People.
don't like it. But, I want to make one. last point here. I understand that this. White House wants to give the impression. that it's all powerful, but I want to. make one thing clear. They are. responsive to public pressure. Greg. Bovino does not get ousted without. public pressure, without cratering poll. numbers, without people speaking out and. making their voices heard everywhere, in. person and online. This administration. wants you to feel powerless, wants you. to feel like your voice doesn't matter, but that's not true, and they know that. That is why they're working so hard to. suppress your voices, to chill free.
speech, to silence comedians, to buy up. the algorithms and manipulate what. information you can read and what. information you can watch. It's why they. work so hard to discredit the No Kings. protest and the 7 million Americans who. took to the streets. They know full well. the power that we all have, and they. know full well that by trying to quash. dissent, they are operating from a. position not of strength, but of. weakness. And the latest actions with. ICE only exacerbate those issues that. Trump is facing. Let's be clear, there. is no world in which Trump doesn't see. this and what it represents.
If you send thousands of people into the. streets to protest in -9° weather, then. you have a big problem. That is not lost. on this administration. We're starting. to see the cracks, but the reality is.
that this is not the time to declare. victory. It is the time to double, triple, quadruple down. We will bring. about an end to Trumpism, slowly and. then all at once. We're at the beginning. stages right now, but it's going to take. everybody, everybody stepping up while. we have the chance to do so. >> [music]. >> Before you go, if you enjoyed this. content and you want to see more and. support independent media, please. subscribe to this channel. now in a political environment where. this administration can lean on any of. the social media platforms to suppress. certain voices if they don't like. critical coverage.
