They. can't have the ability to possess or. build a nuclear weapon at the beginning. of this war and now the US intelligence. community has assessed that they did not. want one. They weren't building one. Uh, sorry, sorry, during his latest appearance on CNN's. News Night. And here you see Jennings. try and move the goalpost as it relates. to the duration of a war that Donald. Trump swore would never even happen in. the first place. When Sunshine calls him.

out, Jennings immediately goes. defensive, distancing himself from that. whole 4 to 6 week timeline that. everybody was then promised. Only small. problem, here's what Scott Jennings. posted on his own Facebook page on March. 9th. >> I've been paying a little closer. attention. It seems to me victory is. very obvious. Iran is not going to have. nuclear weapons or the capacity to make. nuclear weapons, which they told our. negotiators. They said they had, so. that's going away. They're not going to. have a ballistic missile program. They're not going to threaten our bases. and their neighbors with ballistic.

missiles. That's going away. They're not. going to have a navy that harasses ships. in the Gulf. That is also going away. Those are the goals of the military. action. We've been at it for a week. It. seems to me our military uh has been. operating with great precision. Um, everybody inside and outside who's. analyzing this says it's going. swimmingly. What happens to the Iranian. regime, I don't know. I wish the people. of Iran would take the opportunity uh to. take back their country. That would be. great. But as it relates to the United. States, we have three very clear goals.

No nukes, no ballistic missiles, and no. aggressive navy messing around with. everybody's ships uh in the Gulf of over. there. And that that is the goal. And so. hopefully it gets done in under a month. I would love that. And it seems to me. the degradation of the Iranian military. right now is happening at such a rapid. pace that we could get there. >> Under a month. Oh, to be so young and. naive. To be clear, we're nearly 6. months past the day that Scott Jennings. suggested might only take a month. Or. how about this moment where Scott. Jennings downplays the war by offering a.

wink and nod that it's not even a war in. the first place before ultimately. calling it a 3-w weekek situation. >> This is the most unpopular war in. American history, and for good reason. And the longer it goes on, the worse. those numbers are going to look. There. is no instance in history of prolonged. war benefiting any nation. growing. The economic crisis is growing. Inflation is growing. Extremism and. attacks on the homeland are growing. Everything is getting worse every day. and the war is expanding despite. Granted, that was recorded on March. 19th, meaning it's been 23 weeks. I. wonder if that's still no biggie as far. as Scott is concerned. Now, it's no. surprise that Scott Jennings is so.

shamelessly discarding the truth, considering the entire White House is. doing the exact same thing. >> We have no pressure. It's only guys like. you with a question like that about. what's your time? We've been doing it. for 5 and a half weeks. >> But sir, is your administration weeks. that the US now has been involved with. Iran? You had initially said it would be. four to six weeks that I also took a. little break. I gave them a break. >> I know President Trump says we're ahead. of schedule in achieving his military. objectives in Iran. He laid out that. four to six week timetable for this.

conflict and we're now within week five. So, how do you square kind of those two? >> Well, four to 6 weeks estimated. timeline. Again, you just said we're on. day 30 of the operation. I just provided. you with some of the updates um from the. Pentagon directly and achieving the. objectives and the military has been. enormously successful. I think we should. all be very proud of our armed forces. for what they have done over the past 30. days. The mission will continue until. the objectives are achieved and that 4. to6 week timeline does remain. Right.

now, I don't have any updates for you on. that. >> That's right. It's only 4 to 6 weeks and. we will continue to fight in as many. four to six week wars as it takes until. we accomplish our goal. Although frankly. those excuses pald in comparison to this. one. >> What do you say to the Americans out. there? They're sick and tired of this. war. They voted for President Trump. because he promised to end wars, not. start wars. He called himself the. president of peace. What is your message. to those people experiencing this war. fatigue?

>> Yeah. Well, it's not been very long. Uh. we were in Iraq and and Afghanistan for. over 20 years under a couple of. different presidents. So, uh this is a. very short-term conflict. And this is. all about lasting peace. It's not a. forever war. President Trump is trying. to rid us of a terrorist regime that has. been wreaking havoc on our our our own. our own uh military uh threatening to. have a nuclear weapon, which they were. just about close to having, a. weaponsgrade uh nuclear weapon. Uh, this. is a regime we've been fighting for 47.

years. They have no problem killing. their own people in the streets, gouging. out the eyes of of women or anyone who. stands up to the regime. It's time for. them to go and it's time to have peace. and prosperity. When you've been caught. with your pants down, at least you can. always just fall back on the fact that. this war still isn't as long as the one. time that we were at war for two. decades. So, as long as we keep the bar. there, then we're in tip-top shape. Got. it? But look, it is almost not worth it. to fact check a bad faith actor like. Scott Jennings in the first place. This.

is not somebody who is engaging in good. faith. He is there because he's. performing for an audience of one. He. will always and forever defend this. White House and will never concede a. single inch on any point. Sound. familiar? He wouldn't even admit that. the Trump administration was being. dishonest about anything as far as the. Iran war is concerned. >> They've been dishonest about what their. objectives were from the beginning. They've been they've been dishonest. about what they've accomplished from the. beginning. What's the evidence of dishonest and. they were dishonest about the time? >> What is the what is the evidence of.

dishonest started? >> The evidence of dishonest in August they. told us they had completely decimated. Iran's nuclear program. Then we then we. had to get at them because they were. getting nukes. Then it wasn't about the. nukes, it was about regime change. Then. it wasn't about regime change, it was. about terrorism. So they don't have. their story straight. So that's what. they haven't been honest about, Scott. And at a billion dollar a day, $11,000 a. second, the American people are allowed. to ask. But the problem is, and we're. not going to laugh about that, okay? That's not what we're going to do. >> So, look, if you're not willing to. acknowledge objective reality that Trump.

has been dishonest about any aspect of. this war, much less every aspect of this. war, then you clearly can't be trusted. about anything. I mean, hell, even the. war itself, should never have happened. Remember this from the campaign? >> I'm not going to start a war. I'm going. to stop wars. No more wars, no more disruptions. We. will have prosperity and we will have. peace. Under Trump, we will have no more. wars, no more disruptions, and we will. have prosperity and peace for all. I am.

the candidate of peace. I am peace. And. lo and behold, here we are. But of. course, you've heard the talking point. We've got no choice because Iran must. not have a nuclear weapon. And in fact, this isn't even a new war. It's a. 47year-old war. Okay, that means the. 47year-old war was still a 45year-old. war when Trump was campaigning and yet. we had no mention of that on the. campaign trail. So if this is such a. long-standing conflict that we had no. choice, why did he conspicuously leave.

that out when he was vowing no new wars. to the suckers at his rallies? All of. which is a point, by the way, that I. made myself on CNN. Donald Trump came. into office on the pretense that he was. going to engage in no new wars on the. Middle East. So why is that okay? Why is. the fact that this guy who campaigned on. on a very specific idea of not doing the. exact same thing that all of his other. predecessors have done the thing that he. told all of all of these people that. were going to his rallies that he swore. he would never do? Why is it okay now 5. minutes later to engage in this exact.

kind of war that he swore he wouldn't. do? For for all those people who say, "Oh, well Iran's been an issue for what. 47 years. That's the the talking point.". That's something he knew during the. camp. True. That's not a talking point. So, so if if that was if that was true. during the campaign and because that. falls within the 47 years, why was that. what changed from November of 2024 to. August of 2026? >> There there is a very fair criticism by. members of the Republican party that. Donald Trump has engaged in this war. That is not something that that that. Republicans can sweep under the rug. All.

of which is to say we've got nothing but. moving goalposts, excuses, obuscations, and outright lies by this White House. and the people who clearly want to speak. for this White House. So if Scott. Jennings job here was to audition for. Trump, to prove to the president that he. can operate without dignity, without. integrity, and most importantly, without. shame, then congrats to Scott. He did. his job. But it didn't come without a. cost. Because now Americans on both. sides of the aisle. Remember, Caroline. Sunshine was literally Trump's deputy.
