VIRAL: Vance makes SHOCKING CONFESSION on stage

But we were talking about this a little. bit backstage, but I'm actually. fascinated by Nixon as a character in. history. I think that his historical legacy is. enjoying a bit of a renaissance, but I. think deservedly so. As I joked with Robert backstage, if. Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be. like a 12-hour news story. The idea that it would have taken down a. presidency is crazy. And by the way, if you look at the story. of how.

the deep state took down Richard Nixon, it's not all that different from what. the same groups of people, the same. institutions tried to do to Donald Trump. in the first Trump administration. There. is a a parallel. I also just at a personal level, you. know, okay, young senator, vice president, writes some best-selling books, is hated. by the media. It kind of sounds like. J.D. Vance. So, I'm a little, you know,

I've always liked I've always liked. Richard Nixon. >> That was J.D. Vance at the Richard Nixon. Presidential Library, which, fitting as. I'll explain, saying that Watergate. would be a 12-hour news story today, and. that the idea that it took down a. presidency is, quote, crazy. Vance made. these remarks while promoting his new. book, Communion, after describing his. deep admiration for Richard Nixon and. drawing a parallel between Nixon and. Trump, arguing that both were targeted. by deep state forces. Although, I'm sure. that everybody else with a functioning. brain can figure out the real reason.

that there are parallels between these. two men. But just think about that. point. The Vice President of the United. States went to the Nixon Library, looked. into a camera, and said, out loud, that. the scandal that forced a sitting US. president to resign in disgrace, the. scandal that is literally synonymous. with political corruption, the scandal. that gave us the suffix gate, which we. still attach to every political. controversy 50 years later, would barely. make a dent in today's news cycle. And. he said it like it was a compliment to. Nixon. It is not a compliment to Nixon.

It is an indictment of his own. administration. David Axelrod put it perfectly writing. quote, "It's actually mind-boggling that. J.D. Vance would say Watergate would be. a 10-hour news story today. Just to. review, Nixon's aides authorized a. break-in of the DNC HQ to install. bugging equipment in a caper foiled by a. night watchman who called police. They. then enlisted the CIA to mislead the FBI. that the break-in was related to a probe. of Malayan foreign actors. The entire. operation was paid for by a slush fund. controlled by the White House. The White.

House also enlisted the IRS to probe. hundreds of Nixon's political enemies. The AG, the White House Chief of Staff, and several other top aides were all. convicted and served time for their. involvement in the crimes and cover-up. Nixon was caught on his own secret tape. system conspiring with them, but was. pardoned a month after he resigned by. his successor Gerald Ford. That Vance. thinks this would be a 10-hour story. today speaks volumes about the moral and. ethical degradation of the Trump era. Now, Axelrod is right, and the point. he's making is actually far more damning.

than even Vance seems to realize because. Vance thinks that he's defending Nixon, but what he's actually doing is. confessing. He's not saying Watergate. was minor. He's saying that compared to. what this administration does on a daily. basis, Watergate looks minor. And he's. saying that out loud into a microphone. Vance is essentially acknowledging that. the bar for presidential corruption and. misconduct has been so thoroughly. obliterated under Trump that an actual. constitutional crisis from the '70s, one. that produced criminal convictions of. the Attorney General, the White House.

Chief of Staff, and multiple senior. aides now reads like a footnote. And. instead of being horrified by that, Vance is bragging about it. founder of Binance, a guy who pleaded. guilty to federal charges for running a. platform that allowed terrorists and. drug traffickers to move money, received. a full presidential pardon shortly after. his company invested $2 billion into. Trump's personal crypto venture. Qatar. gifted the administration, Trump, a $400. million Boeing 747 jet raising questions. about the Constitution's foreign. emoluments clause. Stephen Miller, the. architect of the administration's. immigration crackdown, owns up to. $250,000 in Palantir stock. And shortly. before that became public, ICE awarded.

Palantir a $30 million no-bid. surveillance contract. The Trump. family's sons took stakes in a. construction firm that then merged with. a mining company days after it secured. $1.6 billion in US government backing. And the administration has dropped or. paused enforcement actions against 165. corporations, including a third of all. targeted investigations against tech. companies, an industry that poured vast. financial support into Trump's election. And that's the short version. But here's. the thing, Vance isn't just.

inadvertently confessing, he's also. describing the actual mechanism by which. this corruption survives. He's telling. you exactly why nothing sticks. Not. because these things aren't serious, they are, but because there are so many. of them happening so fast that the the. never gets to reckon with any single one. before the next dozen lands on top of. it. Nixon had one Watergate. Trump has a. new one every 48 hours, and the sheer. volume of the misconduct is the. strategy. It is not an accident, it's. the point, as Bannon explains here.

But, I want to sit on something for. a second because I think it deserves. more attention than it normally gets. This was sold to us as the law and order.

presidency. Remember that? J.D. Vance. himself said that the administration's. actions are, quote, "Driven by law and. not by politics.". >> And unlike the Biden DOJ and the Biden. FBI, our law enforcement agencies are. going to be driven by law and not by. politics. >> Sure. These are the people who spent. years and years screaming about draining. the swamp, about the rule of law, about. prosecuting corruption. And yet, here's. the vice president at a presidential. library, essentially shrugging and.

saying, "Yeah, what we do would make. Nixon blush. But, hey, that's just. Tuesday now." The self-styled law and. order party has presided over what may. be the most nakedly corrupt. administration in American history. One. where pardons go to donors and friends. and people who've given money onto this. administration, contracts go to family. members by the hundreds of millions, foreign governments buy influence with. crypto coins, and the Attorney General's. office drops cases against companies and. people that fill the president's. pockets. Nixon used the IRS to target.

enemies, this administration uses the. DOJ to indict its critics while dropping. cases against its donors. Nixon had a. slush fund, this administration has a. meme coin. Same thing. So yeah, JD is. right. Watergate would be a 12-hour. story today, not because it was small, but because he and Trump and the rest of. the GOP have made everything it. represented feel normal. And the fact. that they can say that into a microphone. at the Nixon Library to applause tells. you everything you need to know about. where that party ended up. Nixon at. least had the decency to resign. These.
