Trump’s UFC fight BACKFIRES in HUGE humiliation | Another Day
Donald Trump is hosting UFC fights at. the White House this weekend for his. 80th birthday. Gosh, remember when Obama. wore a tan suit? Now, that was. unpresidential. This is just another. day. Over the years, society has witnessed. its fair share of historic fights. The. Rumble in the Jungle, the Thrilla in. Manila, and this weekend, it looks like. we've got the Melee in the Beltway. >> What's happening in DC? Well, it's the. UFC Freedom 250. It's a series of MMA.
fights that are scheduled for this. weekend at the White House on the South. Lawn. >> That's right. Sunday night, tens of. thousands will gather to watch UFC on. the White House lawn, because this. president knows that you can't spell UFC. without F U. Now, obviously, this is not. the first time Donald Trump has. encouraged folks to travel to DC to beat. the out of other people. But. thankfully, this time, the Capitol. Police and his own vice president aren't. the targets. Yes, it seems Trump was. tired of spending every other day away.
at a sporting event. So, he figured, why. not bring the sporting events to him? I'm guessing by the midterms, he'll have. a putting green in the Lincoln bathroom. Honestly, what is the difference between. Donald Trump and Timothy Chalamet at. this point? Other than the fact that. Chalamet actually sleeps in the same bed. as his partner. But maybe I'm being too. cynical and missing what this expensive. spectacle is really all about. >> ideal behind America. is the impossible. But someone tells you. you can't do that or that is never going. to happen. The whole idea of America is. audacious. But then beyond that,
everything we've done since then as a. nation, time and again, and how can how. can you achieve some of the things, you. know, we're going to put a man on the. moon? When President Kennedy announced that we. were going to put a man on the moon and. return him safely to the earth, no one. thought that was possible, and we did. it. We are a nation founded on doing. what no one else dared to do, and no one. else aspired to do. >> Yes, for it's the duty of all Americans. to ask not what your country can do for. you, but what you who do for the UFC. My god, Marco. The only way this would. be remotely similar to what Kennedy did.
is if just before Apollo 11 took off, JFK coordinated with Neil Armstrong to. find ways to profit off the moon. landing. >> Shares in TKO Holdings, the UFC's parent. company, were added to Trump's portfolio. back in March. Just a few weeks later, the president began promoting the UFC. White House event and praising the UFC. >> Trump's super pack is now hosting a. fundraiser the night before at a million. dollars per person. >> And President Trump himself is.
financially entangled in the UFC owning. significant stock in its parent company, and his administration has also. announced new partnerships with the UFC, the State Department launching a sports. diplomacy program with them, and the FBI. welcoming UFC fighters to train federal. agents in hand-to-hand combat. >> FBI agents are going to be trained by. UFC fighters? Wow. That sounds like the. kind of idea someone would come up with. when they were completely sober. Now, one other detail of note is that of.
the seven fights scheduled Sunday night, none of them include women, which I. guess makes sense. Donald Trump is only. cool with the abuse of females when he. gets to be an active participant. But what could be more fitting for. Donald Trump than being perched up on. high while the plebs kill each other for. his entertainment? Isn't that. essentially what those ICE raids in. Minnesota were without the marketing. budget? I just thank God that the fate. of these gladiators isn't decided by. which way the emperor points his thumb. because I don't think there are. binoculars strong enough to make out.
what his tiny hands are gesturing. Wait, am am am I supposed to be killed. or is that just a wart on the bottom of. his palm? And why are his hands black? But while some people are looking. forward to this octogenarian's. octagon-based festivities this weekend, others see a few troubling details. >> The fight is on Trump's birthday, but it. also is meant to commemorate the 250th. signing of the Declaration of. Independence. How is this honoring what.
the founding fathers had in mind? >> Now, to be fair, those guys were cool. with owning slaves, so let's not pretend. our nation's oldest politicians were so. averse to violence. But, I would agree. that this $60 million clause erected on. the lawn of the people's house doesn't. exactly sit well with me, either. And I'm not the only one. In a. last-ditch effort, a legal advocacy. group brought a lawsuit to stop this. event from taking place this weekend. >> The federal judge is denying a bid to. block this fight from taking effect, meaning that this fight, which is.
scheduled for this weekend, there are a. few events over the course of this. weekend, beginning, I believe, as early. as tonight, will still happen. Now, the. judge is primarily ruling here to block. this on two grounds. The first is that. he's saying that the plaintiffs who. actually brought this challenge don't. have standing. It's two Virginia. residents who say that they are. experiencing harm because the structure. of that claw that you see on the White. House South Lawn, they call it ugly, they call it grotesque. The judge is. saying that's not good enough to. actually bring a valid legal challenge. here. >> Well, that seems fair. I mean, if you. could sue on account of something ugly. and grotesque being at the White House,
this guy would be drowning in legal. fees. But, it's not just this group, or. millions of other Americans who don't. approve of this weekend's fight. Apparently, God has also taken issue. with this poor allocation of federal. resources and is making it known. The. forecast for Sunday is extreme heat with. possible thunderstorms. But, if history. is any indicator, even a brief stormy. appearance won't stop the president from. coming. And rain isn't just bad news for this. UFC fight, it's also bad news for. Melania, because it means now she has to.
run around town looking for her own. umbrella before Sunday. Now, obviously, outside of a possible. cancellation being a disappointment for. the president, there's the whole issue. of safety. Not that Trump really cares. It stands to reason that if a man is. okay with watching millions of Americans. get kicked off their healthcare, he's. more than fine with watching a handful. suffer inside a cage. But regardless, major injuries could occur. Don't forget, these are going to be. enormous men drenched in sweat who as a.
result of the rain could be slipping and. sliding all over the place. Bodies. intertwined in a barbaric display of. hedonistic violence as their gargantuan. veiny hands grasp for even the tiniest. morsel of well-toned flesh. Oh. Hey Lindsey. So we've got safety concerns and. self-dealing, not to mention massive. road closures around the entire DC area. Can someone please sell me on how this. UFC 250 actually makes sense? >> You have the opportunity to have a fight. at the White House.
Obama, Trump, Bush, Reagan. No matter who's in there. You wouldn't do it? Why would you not do. it? >> Uh I don't know. Maybe because it's not. the greatest look for the. commander-in-chief to hold private. for-profit sporting events on the White. House grounds on his birthday when. millions of Americans around the country. are trying to figure out how they're. going to afford filling up their gas. tank just to get to work. Just a thought. But here's the thing. I'm not one of those people that's going. to sit here and belittle the UFC as some.
silly niche sport with a minuscule. audience. It is massive. UFC generates. billions in annual revenue and has. multi-billion dollar media contracts. A. far cry when it was derided as human. fighting by Senator John McCain. Easy, Lindsey. No, my issue is not with the sport. itself, but the speed with which all of. this came together. According to Dana. White, he said the two men were watching. an event when Mr. Trump leaned over to. him and said, "We should do a fight at. the White House." And so literally, that.
was a Saturday. On Monday, the White. House started calling saying, "Let's. start getting the logistics." That is. how fast Donald Trump can move when he. wants to make something happen. I mean, not physically. His balloon ankles keep. his walking pace set at a slow shuffle. But, when he wants to enact a plan, the. president's a guy who gets it done. There is no law that can stand in his. way, no section of the Constitution that. could give him pause, no appearance of. corruption that could cause him a. moment, even a moment of hesitation. But, the problem is all of his efforts.
are focused on things that are going to. help him, that make him rich, make him. more famous. So, when Donald Trump. doesn't deliver for everyday Americans, it is not because he can't, it's because. he chooses not to. If Donald Trump. wanted to lower the cost of gas, of. groceries, of housing, if he wanted to. find more money for food assistance, for. education, for cancer research, he. could. But, none of those issues benefit. him. This weekend's events at the White. House are not a gift to the American.
people or some heroic display of. America's can-do spirit. It's just. another example of Donald Trump using. taxpayer dollars to enrich himself and. his billionaire friends. Plain and. simple, what Americans are about to. witness this Sunday is nothing more than. one big sweaty jerk off. Ah. >> [sighs and gasps]. >> What a surprise. >> [music]. >> Before you go, I'm very excited to. announce that I've written a new book. titled The Day After: How to wield power. in a post-Trump world. The book explores.
what is, in my opinion, the single most. important theme that we're dealing with. in politics today and moving forward, power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to. wield it. This book explains how we got. here and, more importantly, how we. should finally wield power if we're. fortunate enough to get it back. It is. the blueprint for progressives who want. to do far more than just restore the. status quo. Please pre-order today by. visiting the link in the episode. description or go to. briantylercohen.com/book. You can grab yours from any of the major. retailers, like Amazon or Barnes &.
Noble, or find an independent bookstore. closest to you that's also listed on. that website. Thanks so much for. supporting independent media.
