Trump put me on his enemies list; here’s what happened to me

Earlier this summer, Trump put me on his. enemies list. If you go to. whitehouse.gov, the official website of. the US government, I'm listed as a media. offender, just one of a few names. That. is a taxpayer-funded website that likely. draws thousands, if not tens of. thousands of visitors per day. All of. them will know my name because the White. House has decided to put a target on my. back. Now, I want to tell you about the. fallout from that, which is not. something that I've spoken about. publicly before, but I'm going to make. an exception here. I'll explain why.

When Donald Trump targeted me, the. harassment, the death threats, and the. fishing attempts via email and social. media were instantaneous, and they. continue to this day. Now, working in. political media online, it happens more. often than I'm comfortable with, but I. can assure you this is a new level. I. will say I don't talk about this stuff. on purpose because I don't want to. incentivize bad actors. So, that raises. the question, why bring it up? Now, I. bring it up because I want you to know. why the White House targets people with.

shoddy cases that they ultimately lose. People like Jack Smith, Cassidy. Hutchinson, Jerome Powell, Leticia. James, James Comey, John Brennan, David. Hearn, the six Democrats who dared. recite what the UCMJ said, and even a. guy who threw a Subway sandwich at a. federal agent. It's because it's not. about securing a conviction. It is about. forcing innocent people to spend money. defending themselves. It's about forcing. innocent people to deal with the anxiety. of contending with a federal. prosecution. And it's about forcing.

innocent people to be victims at the. hands of an unhinged and often dangerous. mob of Trump supporters who Donald Trump. knows will do his bidding. Remember, the. guy got thousands of people to show up. at the US capital to try and hang his. own party's vice president. If that. doesn't prove that Trump can wield a. dangerous mob and that he knows he can. wield a dangerous mob, I don't know what. does. Now, most people won't share this. information because again, they. rightfully don't want to incentivize. more of it. But here's the thing. It's.

happening to me anyway, so I might as. well use this information to let. everybody else know why Trump does what. he does from a firsthand account to let. you all know why he engages in these. doomed vindictive prosecutions. because. it's not about the conviction. It is. about the pain they have to endure in. the process. It's about the chilling. effect that it has on everybody else. So. look, when this happened to me, I had. every reason in the world to quiet down. Trust me, my family was understandably. not happy about it. But if I censored.

myself, what message does that send to. everybody else? In the same way that law. firms, tech companies, media outlets, all censor themselves and capitulate to. this president, it creates a cowardice. effect where cowardice begets more. cowardice. I will not take part in that. So, no thanks. I won't allow myself to. be cowed by Trump or Republicans. And. any effort to put my name on a list will. only redouble my efforts.
