Trump makes SURPRISE announcement as PANIC sets in
In an unexpected update after last. night's news that the Republican primary. in Texas would be going to a runoff, Trump made the following announcement on. Truth Social. The Republican primary. race for the United States Senate in the. great state of Texas, a state I love and. won three times in record numbers, the. highest vote ever recorded by far, cannot for the good of the party and our. country itself be allowed to go on any. longer. It must stop now. We have an. easy to beat radical left opponent and. we have to totally focus on putting him. away quickly and decisively. Both John. and Ken ran great races, but not good.
enough. Now, this one must be perfect. My endorsements within the Republican. Party have been virtually. insurmountable. It is such an honor to. realize and say that almost everyone I. endorse wins and wins by a lot, especially in Texas. I will be making my. endorsement soon and will be asking the. candidate that I don't endorse to. immediately drop out of the race. Is. that fair? We must win in November. Thank you for your attention to this. matter. Donald J. Trump. So, here's the. deal. Both John Cornyn and Ken Paxton. failed to reach the 50% threshold in. Tuesday's primary election, meaning this. primary is going to a runoff. A.
three-month protracted primary battle. that will further inflame tensions. within the GOP base and will undoubtedly. cost tens of millions of dollars in. addition to the nearly 90 million. already spent in this record-breaking. race. Worse yet, the winner is going up. against James Talarico, who won the. Democratic primary and who Republicans. have openly mused worries them. Cornyn. said, "I think Talarico is dangerous. He'll probably beat Jasmine Crockett and. he's capable of raising a lot of money. And if you look at the head-to-head with. Paxton, it's tied." And to that end,
Trump will likely endorse John Cornyn, which is ironic because Ken Paxton is. the MAGA candidate. He's more closely. aligned with Trump and he's also more. extreme and more of a liability. And so. now, Trump will likely endorse the guy. who is less MAGA, which tells us all. something pretty telling, that Trump. knows that his own brand is a liability. And he knows that he's becoming weaker. So, he will have to work against his own. brand in a desperate effort to coddle. together some majority because the. midterms are likely going to be such a.
disaster as a direct referendum on him. And normally, that realization would. come with some humility. After all, Trump himself is the reason that. Republicans are now scrambling to hang. on to ruby red Texas. But of course, Trump doesn't know what humility is. He. doesn't do humility. And so instead, he's going to take the opportunity to. brand himself the kingmaker and pretend. that his eventual endorsement of John. Cornyn over the mega Republican is. somehow a win for Trump. It's not. It's. going to be a public capitulation, an.
acknowledgement that he and his acolytes. are a liability as more and more voters. reject the con that they're being sold. by the mega GOP. And that's the. important part here. All of these moves by Trump are. band-aids. They are temporary fixes to. cover for a much bigger structural. problem that ultimately cannot be fixed. because the reality is that Trump does. not care about Americans at his core. And so he won't make good on his. promises because he simply does not give. a He won't lower your cost because. he launched a trade war and feels like.
any backtracking would be tantamount to. a capitulation. He won't release the. Epstein files because he's implicated in. them. He won't protect your health care. because he wants to offset tax cuts for. himself and his billionaire friends. He. won't lower inflation because it's more. important to lower interest rate so he. can heat up the economy before midterms. He won't restore food assistance because. he doesn't care if people go hungry. because he's not hungry. This isn't. about any of us. Donald Trump is not in. office to serve any of us. He is there. to serve one person, Donald Trump. Which.
by the way, is not breaking news, right? That much is baked in. He is a. narcissist who only cares about himself, famously. But let's be clear, it's not. him who bears the brunt of these. actions. It is his party. It's all those. Republicans who are now on the ballot in. 2026, just a few months from now, who. will have to run with the albatross. around their necks thanks to him. All of. which is a point that I made while. talking with Pat Zeigler of America's. Tommy Vietor, and we spoke about Kristi. Noem in this instance, but the same. logic would apply to all Republicans.
You know, normally this is the kind of. thing where it would just evolve into. the usual D versus R food fight, and all. the Republicans would throw their weight. behind her, but I think that I think. they're realizing that all of this. stuff, whether it's Kristi Noem's. indiscretions, we could call it General. incompetence. >> General incompetence. I think they'll. like her. It's the Trump administration, you know, engaging in this trade war, whether it's the Trump administration. engaging in their real war, whether. it's, you know, their approval ratings. sagging, prices of everything rising, health care getting cut, food assistance. getting cut, all this stuff. That that.
is just baggage that these Republicans. have to. have to carry, and so there there comes. a point where. it doesn't even make sense to back this. stuff because it's it's an albatross. around their own necks, and we're just a. few months away from midterms in a. cycle, by the way, where we're seeing. Democrats over perform by 12, 14, 16. points. And so it doesn't benefit them. at all to to go and run cover, run. defense for an increasingly unpopular. administration doing increasingly. unpopular things when frankly they're.
the ones that have to bear the brunt of. it. They're the ones that are running. for re-election. These guys don't want. to get real jobs. They're not qualified. to do anything. Like Mike Johnson. couldn't do anything. I wouldn't trust. him to do anything. He He wants to be a. lobbyist, probably where he'll he'll end. up after he gets voted out of Congress. But yeah, I mean, like the these guys. are looking at 2026. It is barreling. down on them. Trump's numbers are. getting worse. Remember at the beginning of the year, there were all these stories about how. Susie Wiles, Trump's chief of staff, is. going to put enforce discipline at the. White House. We're going to have a new. tone. We're going to do affordability.
events every week. And now we're doing. our second regime change war. >> [laughter]. >> in like 6 weeks. I know. They are so far off the. rails. >> Yeah. So yes, like they're going to and. none of them can yell at Donald Donald. Trump. They don't have the the balls to. do it. So they're going to yell at his. staff, and Kristi Noem got the got the. brunt of it today. >> You can watch that full review on my. appreciate it. But, the point remains, there is a breaking point for. Republicans, and they're realizing that. blind fealty to the god king has gotten. them nothing other than a shitload of. baggage to shoulder as we head toward. midterms, which means their jobs are on. the line thanks to him. Perhaps the. devil's bargain they struck to stay in. Trump's good graces wasn't such a great. idea after all. And finally, I'm going. to end with the speech that James. Talarico made last night just before. being declared the winner of the. primary. Contrast his message against. Donald Trump's, and it becomes pretty.
clear pretty quickly why the GOP is in. trouble. Thank you. Thank you. Tonight. Tonight, our campaign is shocking the. nation. We. >> [cheering]. >> We are still waiting for an official. call, but we are confident in this. movement we've built together. Every. Every vote must be counted. Every voice. must be heard. The voter suppression in.
my home county and in Congressman. Crockett's home county underscores the. gravity of this moment. This This movement is about whether the. people will hold the power in this state. and in this country. We We launched this. underdog campaign 6 months ago in my. hometown of Round Rock, Texas. And since. [cheering] then. And since then, tens of thousands of.
Texans have shown up to rally with us in. every corner of the state from Beaumont. to El Paso, from Amarillo to Brownsville. and everywhere in between. We have. recruited more than 28,000. volunteers who are organizing in every. community across this state. And we have. shattered grassroots fundraising records. all without taking a dime from corporate. packs.
>> [cheering]. >> This. This is a people-powered movement. to take on this broken. corrupt political system. This is truly a campaign of, by, >> [cheering]. >> and for the. We are not We are not just trying to win. an election. We are trying to. fundamentally change our politics. And. it's working. The number of young people.
who showed up to vote in this election. is unprecedented. The number. The number of Texans who have never. voted before, but showed up in this. election is unprecedented. The number of. independents and Republicans who voted. in this Democratic primary is. unprecedented. This [cheering]. This is proof that there is something. happening in Texas. Tonight.
Tonight the people of our state gave. this country a little bit of hope. And a little bit of hope is a dangerous. thing. I want to thank y'all. Thank you for. being here. now in a political environment where. this administration can lean on any of. the social media platforms to suppress. certain voices if they don't critical. coverage. That means my longevity here. is in the hands of a few tech. billionaires who are already making it. clear that they are willing to cater to. this administration.
