Trump issues SHOCK announcement amid BOMBSHELL resignation
This morning news broke that Donald. Trump's director of the National. Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent, resigned wherein he posted on Twitter. quote, "After much reflection, I decided. to resign from my position as director. of the National Counterterrorism Center. effective today. I cannot in good. conscience support the ongoing war in. Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to. our nation and it is clear that we. started this war due to pressure from. Israel and its powerful American lobby.". Donald Trump was then asked about this. high-profile resignation. Here's what he. said. >> Your director of National. Counterterrorism, Joe Kent, he just.
resigned today. He said he can't support. your conflict with Iran. What's your. reaction to that and did you talk. >> Well, I read his statement. I always. thought he was a nice guy, but I always. thought he was weak on security, very. weak on security. Uh. I didn't know him well, but I thought he. seemed like a pretty nice guy. Uh. but when I read his statement, I. realized that. it's a good thing that he's out because. he said that Iran was not a threat. Iran was a threat. Every country it.
realized what a threat Iran was. The. question is whether or not they wanted. to do something about it. So, when. somebody is working with us that says. they didn't think Iran was a threat, uh. we don't want those people because and. there are some people I guess that would. say that, but they're not smart people. or they're not savvy people. >> Quote, "I didn't know him well." There. it is. The old never even met the guy. It's a tale as old as time as far as. Donald Trump is concerned, which of. course is undercut by well, this.
>> But uh. I'd like to introduce Joe to say a few. words. A very incredible guy and with a. tremendous future in my opinion. Uh. right now he's only thinking about. Congress and maybe he'll be there for a. number of years and we don't know what's. going to happen, but I think this man. has a tremendous future, very special. person. Thank you very much. Come on. over, Joe. >> Well, thank you so much, Mr. President.
Thank you. >> But other than that, hardly knew the. guy. And look, to be clear, this is a. feature, not a bug of this presidency. Think about all of the people he's. discarded to help himself. He fired. Ronna McDaniel as RNC chair as if she. was the reason that Republicans had been. losing elections and not Donald Trump. himself. He trashed his own former press. secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, writing, "I. don't need any advice from Rhino. Kayleigh McEnany on Fox. Just had a. giant victory over badly failing. candidate birdbrain and she's telling me. what I can do better. Save your advice.
for Nikki." Trump said that Paul. Manafort, his campaign chairman, came. into the campaign very late and was with. us for a very short period of time. He. called George Papadopoulos, his foreign. policy advisor, a low-level volunteer. He said of Gordon Sondland, his EU. ambassador and campaign donor, "I have. not spoken to him much. This is not a. man I know well." He said Michael Cohen, his own lawyer and former fixer, did a. quote "tiny, tiny fraction of his legal. work." Of Sidney Powell, he wrote, "Despite the fake news reports to the. contrary and without even reaching out. to ask the Trump campaign, Ms. Powell.
was not my attorney and never was. In. fact, she would have been conflicted.". And the list goes on and on, but the. point here is clear. Donald Trump will. throw you under the bus the moment he. feels you become politically. inconvenient for him. And the only thing. more embarrassing than being thrown. under the bus by Trump is the fact that. any of these people sell their soul to. him in the first place thinking that. somehow it won't eventually happen to. them, too. At some point, everyone will. be discarded by Trump. Even the people. who are so deluded into thinking that.
they, unlike everyone else, are special. And the same goes for the people who. invest their money into him and his. company and his meme coins or whatever. new scams pop up on a daily basis. Let. me not mince words here. Donald Trump. does not care about you. He is not. looking to help you. Everyone in Trump's. life is there in service of him and not. the other way around. There is no mutual. benefit to aligning yourself with Trump. You are there to provide something to. him and in return you should expect. nothing. Now, going back to Trump's.
response here, he says this. >> It's a good thing that he's out because. he said that Iran was not a threat. Iran was a threat. Every country. realized what a threat Iran was. The. question is whether or not they wanted. to do something about it. >> That of course Iran was a threat, a. point that Caroline Levitt dutifully. echoed this morning as well, writing, "There are many false claims in this. letter, but let me address one. specifically, that Iran posed no. imminent threat to our nation. This is. the same false claim that Democrats and. some in the liberal media have been. repeating over and over." Which is.
interesting because just days ago. Caroline Levitt herself tweeted, "To be. clear, no such threat from Iran to our. homeland exists and it never did." In. other words, Iran poses no threat to our. homeland and they never did, but also. Democrats and the liberal media are. lying when they say that Iran poses no. threat to our homeland. Make sense for. everyone? And finally, notice that. Donald Trump said this. >> Many people, many of the greatest. military scholars are saying for years. that president should have taken out. Iran because they wanted a nuclear.
weapon. >> That we had no choice but to bomb Iran. and that everyone's been saying that. it's our only option, which again is. weird because I seem to remember Trump. having some slightly different thoughts. on this matter when he was pandering to. voters for more than a decade. >> Our president will start a war with Iran. because he has absolutely no ability to. negotiate. He's weak and he's. ineffective. >> You know, I've said before I think Obama. will go to war with Iran because I think. he views it as good politically and I. that's pretty sad and it's a pretty sad.
thing to have to say, but I think he. will absolutely go to war with Iran. I. think he views that as a positive from a. political standpoint and I think he's. just waiting for the right moment. >> At some point. there's no question. As sure as you're. sitting here, unless something else. happens first, like somebody wanting to. get elected, and the only way he's going. to do it is to start a war with Iran, because I tell you what, if Iran isn't. negotiating now, they got to be crazy. >> So, you have oil, you have interest, and.
you have the potential of wars. I mean, you know, we're we're looking at Iran. I. happen to think that the president is. going to start a war with Iran. Uh I. think it'll be a short-term popular. thing to do, and I think he's going to. do that for political reasons. You want. to know the truth. I don't know if. anybody says it as openly, but I think. he's going to start a war with Iran, and. that'll be short-term popular. If you. remember Bush, Bush was unbeatable for. about 2 months, and then all of a sudden. the world the world set in when he did. when he attacked Iraq. And he went from. very popular to not popular at all, but.
I think that Obama will start in some. form a war with Iran, and I think. that'll make him very popular for a. short period of time. So, that'll make. him hard to beat, also. >> We are finally putting America first. Our policy of never-ending war, regime change, and nation-building is. being replaced by the clear-eyed pursuit. of American interest. >> There you go.
>> It is the job of our military to protect. our security, not to be the policeman of. the world. >> I'm not going to start a war, I'm going. to stop wars. No more wars, no more disruptions. We. will have prosperity, and we will have. peace. Under Trump, we will have no more. wars, no more disruptions, and we will. have prosperity and peace for all. I am. the candidate of peace. I am peace. >> But hey, aside from all of that, how. could we really know where Trump stood?
So, look, the reality is that if people. are now resigning from Donald Trump's. White House, it's because they want off. this sinking ship. Joe Kent, like. everybody else, can see the writing on. the wall. Can see that is the least. popular war at its outset in American. history, can see that the White House. has no plan or no objective, can see. that Americans are dying every day, can. see that oil prices are now surging, can. see that there wasn't even an attempt to. sell this to the American people, and. can see that the president who engaged. in it did so in clear violation of his.
own campaign promise not to do the exact. thing he is doing right now. Donald Trump may be perfectly content to. play his supporters for fools because he. thinks they're morons, but it turns out. that they have at least some agency and. a few people are even willing to use it. But second, the reality is that we are. now in a political environment where.
this administration can lean on any of. the social media platforms to suppress. certain voices if they don't like. critical coverage. That means my. longevity here is in the hands of a few. tech billionaires who are already making. it clear that they are willing to cater. to this administration.
