Trump issues INSANE reaction to Lindsey Graham dying
With Lindsey Graham passing away last. night, Donald Trump decided to call into. NBC and CNN and it was the first time. Trump appeared on that network in a. decade and went fully off the rails. saying this. >> I got a call last night sometime in, you. know, the early evening. Maybe in the 7s. And he called and he said we're all set. for the Save America Act. He was pushing. the Save America Act like crazy. Got. back, said he just landed from Ukraine. I said that's a long trip to make and he. said he sounded a little tired but.
perfect but a little bit tired. Had a. right to be. And then he was a worker. Oh, he was. really a worker but. but he sounded great actually but he was. he was he actually said he was tired. But he he wanted to pass the Save. America Act and I said, "Well, we're. going to get it done, Lindsey. We're. going to get it done. I'll see you like. soon." We thought maybe we might even. meet today. He was pushing very very. hard. You probably know he wanted to do. the Save America Act that he was talking. about. He was full of vim and vigor. He.
was tired. He said, "I'm tired because. it's a long trip." Essentially, we. agreed and essentially we agreed on. almost everything. Where he was really. becoming strong was the Save America. Act. That was he was really and I think. he was going to be there very very. strongly on the filibuster. He was. against terminating the filibuster. And I think he was doing that because he. said we have a budget coming up and we. have debt ceiling coming up and the. Democrats will, you know, they've. they're deranged in many ways and. they're not going to be able to do it.
So, he was he was coming aboard I think. for the filibuster terminating the. filibuster but we before we did that, he. was going to he was a strong advocate. for Save America. And that's what he. called me about last night. >> So, Graham's body is still warm and. Trump immediately immediately begins. exploiting his death to promote a voter. suppression bill that Trump is hell-bent. on passing because his sole priority is. consolidating power for himself. To. claim that this man is a vile, self-obsessed, malignant narcissist.
vulture would be an insult to vile, self-obsessed, malignant narcissist. vultures. So, here's how you know Donald Trump is. completely full of He says that. Graham says on the phone call that he. wanted to eliminate the filibuster. Right. Lindsey Graham, the ultimate. institutionalist, the guy who loves the. Senate, the institution of the Senate, wanted to eliminate the one legislative. tool that would allow the Democrats to. pass every bill that they want to pass, even though the Republicans can already. do what they want to do with no.
filibuster, which includes confirming. judges and passing tax cuts for. millionaires and billionaires. But sure, I'll bet Lindsey Graham was all over. that one. What else did he say while. we're at it? That Trump should reinstate. his $10 billion lawsuit against his own. IRS? That Don Jr. should get more. Defense Department contracts? That. sleeping with porn stars while your wife. is at home with your newborn son is. actually a good thing? Why stop there? Just a quick note here to say that if. you appreciate my work, which is and. always will be 100% free, a small ask is. if you could please pre-order my new.
book, The Day After, which explores how. Democrats must finally wield power if. they're fortunate enough to get it back. I'll also be on tour in DC, New York, and LA mid-July. You can grab tickets to. the tour, and you can pre-order the book. at the same link, which I'll put on the. screen and in the post description of. this video. You can also find them at. briantylercohen.com/book. Again, I'll never paywall a single piece. of content, but this is the one time. that I'll ask for some support for a. book that I really think meets this. moment. Thanks so much. What's so. striking is the extent that Donald Trump.
is willing to go to push the Save. America Act. Not only is he exploiting. his supposed friend's death 5 minutes. after he died to promote it, but just. this past week, he tried to use his own. party's housing bill as a hostage to get. it passed. He took to Truth Social and. wrote, "Quote, I will not sign the. housing bill, which has been fully. approved by Congress and sent to to. White House in protest over the fact. that the United States Senate is not. capable of passing the Save America Act, which is polling at 97% with the. Republican Party and very high with the. non-politician Democrats. To be clear,
the housing bill passed the House 358 to. 32 and the Senate 85 to 5 in this. political climate. This is for a bill. that Donald Trump literally promised on. the campaign trail. That was quite. literally his idea. >> We will open up. >> [music]. >> new tracks of federal land for. large-scale housing construction so that. we can get housing on the market. Housing affordability crisis. Well, it's. too expensive to build the homes and. they're building them and they cost a. fortune. >> Cut to, Congress delivers him exactly.
that, a sweeping, genuinely bipartisan. housing package meant to lower prices, speed up home building, and rein in the. corporate landlords buying up. single-family homes. And the second it. lands on his desk, he shoves it because. he doesn't actually care about housing. That was just a thing he said to get the. rubes in his base to vote for him. Now. he finds more utility in simply using. that bill as leverage to get what he. really wants. >> What are your plans for the housing. bill, Mr. President? Are you still. >> I don't know. I think it's so.
unimportant by compared to by compared. to the Save America Act. I think the the. Save America Act is exactly what it. says, it's saving America from crooked. elections. And the housing bill is a bill that can. get approved. They worked on it long and. hard. It's very. bipartisan. That means the Democrats like it. I think it's. maybe even. uh. It's it's probably maybe more that way. they're getting things that I wouldn't.
necessarily agree to. Nobody knows more. than housing in the history of the. presidency. Nobody. Nobody did well like. me in housing. >> Mr. President, >> I made a lot of. I made a lot of money. I made a lot of. money with housing. Uh but when I look at that bill, it's a bill. But when I look at the Save America Act, it's about saving America. And I'd like to have the Save America. Act added on. >> Yeah, housing is eh, but you know what's. truly important? Trump getting a bill. that would, in his own words, prevent.
Democrats from winning another election. for 100 years. >> We can only lose the. midterms if we allow ourselves to lose. the midterms, if we are foolish, stupid, and unwise. But if we terminate the filibuster as we. should do, and immediately vote for the Save. America Act, then we will not lose. an election. for 100 years.
We do that, we're not going to lose an. election for 100 years. >> Now, Trump will claim that the Save. America Act is about voter ID. It's not. At its core, this bill is federal. control over how the 50 states register. and verify voters. There is a nationwide. proof of citizenship mandate where the. Trump administration would be the. arbiter of who is or isn't a citizen. States would be forced to hand their. voter rolls over to the Department of. Homeland Security, where they would be. the final arbiters of who gets to vote. And there would be a functional end to. mail-in voting outside of a narrow list.
of exceptions. It would amount to the. federal government consolidating. authority that has sat with the states. for the entire history of this country, and putting it in the hands of an. administration that's already shown. exactly what it wants to do with that. power. Again, they said it. Democrats. would not win another election for 100. years. And for posterity, nobody who. genuinely believes in free and fair. elections tells you that the payoff is. 100 years of uninterrupted control. When. the architect of a massive voter. suppression bill tells you that the.
point is for his side to stop losing for. a century, believe him. And that really. is the whole story here. Trump's not. gearing up to win the midterms on the. merits because he can't. He can't run on. a broken economy, surging prices, rising. inflation, expensive gas, a new war he. swore wouldn't happen, and a failure to. release the Epstein files. He can't run. on his only actual priority being his. relentless focus on vanity projects and. outright admitting that he doesn't give. a about boring stuff like housing. His approval numbers are a testament to.
that. So, instead of making a case to. voters, he's just trying to rig the. rules of the game before a single vote. is cast. He wants to gut the Election. Assistance Commission, eliminate the. filibuster, nationalize election. administration, restrict the very. ballots that tend to favor the. Democrats, and do it all under the. banner of election integrity. And. clearly, he will stop at nothing to do. it. Even if that means propping up the. dead body of his supposed friend to get. there. Now, Lindsey Graham is just one. more token Trump's trying to cash in on. to get his election suppression bill.
passed. In case you were wondering about. the depths that Trump will go to. consolidate power for himself. And let's be honest, deep down, even. Lindsey Graham knows who Trump really. was. Don't take my word for it, take. his. >> I'm going to talk to the Trump. supporters for a minute. I don't know. who you are, and I don't know why you. like this guy. He's a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot. He doesn't represent my party. He. doesn't represent the values that the. men and women who wear the uniform are. fighting for. I think he's a cook. I.
think he's crazy. I think he's unfit for. office. And I'm a Republican, and he's not. He's. not a conservative Republican, he's an. opportunist. He's not fit to be. president of the United States. He's. disparaged women. He has an 80%. disapproval rating among Hispanics. Uh at the end of the day, he would be. the most flawed nominee in the history. of the Republican Party. He accuses most. illegal immigrants of being rapists and. drug dealers. He uh. plays into the idea that maybe Obama is.
a Muslim. 70% of us in South Carolina. believe that Donald Trump is not a. conservative Republican. We think that. he's unfit for office, that he would be. a terrible commander-in-chief. He. doesn't have the temperament or. judgment. >> I think Donald Trump is a political car. wreck. And people slow down and look at. the wreck, but they eventually move on. >> So, if you're wondering why Trump is. perfectly content to use Lindsey Graham. as a tool to advance his political. interest, even Graham himself could have. told you exactly why. >> [music].
>> Before you go, I'm very excited to. announce that I've written a new book. titled The Day After: How to wield power. in a post-Trump world. The book explores. what is, in my opinion, the single most. important theme that we're dealing with. in politics today and moving forward, power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to. wield it. This book explains how we got. here and more importantly, how we should. finally wield power if we're fortunate. enough to get it back. It is the. blueprint for progressives who want to. do far more than just restore the status.
quo. Please pre-order today by visiting. the link in the episode description or. go to briantylercohen.com/book. You can grab yours from any of the major. retailers like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. or find an independent bookstore closest. to you. That's also listed on that. website. Thanks so much for supporting. independent media.
