Trump gives GROSS response to Dolly Parton’s passing
In case you didn't think it'd be. possible for Donald Trump to turn Dolly. Parton's passing into a compliment for. himself, then you don't know Trump. >> We we all knew her so well. I knew her a. little bit. She wasn't a very political. person. She really liked me, I will tell. you. But she also wanted to stay very, you know, she she was of the opinion, you know, the 50% who needs to lose. I. don't think it's 50. I think it's. probably 20% of the fans, okay? Not 50. But she was a great person and she was. just a nice person, you know. I I liked.
her a lot and I I thought it was a. natural thing to lower the flags. >> Of course, Trump can use one of the most. beloved figures in America's passing to. compliment himself. I'm actually. incapable of even grasping the level of. insecurity that this man has to have. that he feels the need to exploit Dolly. Parton's death to brag about how great. he is. This isn't just self-importance. It is actual mental illness. And the. amazing thing is that when you contrast. Dolly Parton's own selflessness against.
Trump's malignant narcissism, it's even. more striking. Here, for example, was. her response to the prospect of the. Tennessee State Legislaturator's effort. to put a statue of her at the state. capital. She wrote, quote, I want to. thank the Tennessee legislature for. their consideration of a bill to erect a. statue of me on the capital grounds. I'm. honored and humbled by their intention, but I've asked the leaders of the state. legislature to remove the bill from any. and all consideration. Given all that is. going on in the world, I don't think. putting me on a pedestal is appropriate. at this time. I hope though that.
somewhere down the road several years. from now or perhaps after I'm gone, if. you still feel that I deserve it, then. I'm certain I will stand proud in our. great state capital as a grateful. Tennessian. In the meantime, I'll. continue to try to do good work to make. this great state proud. Dolly. So, you've got Trump slapping his name onto. everything under the sun, including a. dead president's memorial to the point. where news just broke yesterday that. Trump was considering demolishing the. Kennedy Center amid this ongoing dispute. about his ability to stick his name.
somewhere, anywhere on the structure. And of course, that's to say nothing of. the fact that Trump renamed the US. Institute of Peace into the Donald J. Trump US Institute of Peace. He stuck. his name on Trump RX, Trump accounts, the Trump gold card as a $1 million path. to citizen citizenship visa program, Trump cards, renamed the Palm Beach. airport after himself. He stuck his face. on the National Park Pass, on US. passports, on the 2026. semiquincentennial $1 coin. This guy got.
the Venezuelan leader to give him her. Nobel Peace Prize when he didn't win one. himself. We are talking sociopathic. levels of insecurity and desperation for. agilation. All the while, Dolly Parton. wouldn't let the state legislature erect. a statue of her because even she. recognized that there were more. important things for the legislature to. do. You could fly a 777 in the Gulf. between the different levels of self. agrandisement between these two people.
Consider too on the point of needing. credit, Dolly Parton spent 30 years. quietly running one of the most. effective literacy programs in the. entire country. And she did it with no. fanfare, no political litmus test, just. free books mailed to over 3 million kids. under five, regardless of their zip code. or their parents' income, because she. believed every single kid deserved a. shot at falling in love with reading. And now, in the same week that the world. is mourning her, we're finding out that. Republican lawmakers in states like.
Indiana and Missouri, Republicans of. course, spent the last year quietly. gutting the funding that keeps her. program alive, including Indiana. slashing half of its funding and. Missouri cutting enough to freeze new. enrollment entirely, all while insisting. that the private sector should just pick. up the slack. This is what small. government, Republican small government, actually looks like in practice. It's. not fewer regulations on corporations. It's not less waste. All of those things. continue to proliferate. It's just fewer. free books mailed to kids. Dolly Parton.
spent her career giving America. something that that it didn't even ask. for. The least that these legislators. could do is not let her legacy die. because of budget cuts before she's even. in the ground. And to belabor that point. even further, Dolly turned down two. presidents offering her the Presidential. Medal of Freedom. One from Trump, one. from Biden. from both of them. This is a. woman who was offered the single highest. civilian honor in the entire country by. two separate presidents from two. separate parties. And she said no both.
times. And she did it in a day and age. when everybody, politicians, celebrities, business leaders are all. scrambling for every scrap of. recognition they can get their hands on. Dolly Parton had the single most. bipartisan brand in modern American. life, and she protected it by refusing. awards. And you've got Donald Trump, meanwhile, who would put his face on. napkins if he had the ability to do so. And while Trump made Dolly's passing. about himself, consider the fact that. Barack Obama put out a statement saying. it's hard to imagine many people having.
a bigger impact than Dolly Parton. Reba. McIntyre, Taylor Swift, artists across. every genre and every corner of the. industry all said some version of the. same thing that Dolly gave and gave and. gave and asked for nothing in return. Taylor Swift specifically thanked her. for the millions of books that she sent. to kids around the world so that they. could fall in love with reading the way. that Dolly did. Notice the theme in. every single one of these tributes. They're all about what she gave to other. people. Everyone except Trump's, which. somehow became about what she thought of.
him. And that is obviously a pattern. with this guy. And it's one that should. worry everybody paying attention. regardless of party because we are. talking about a sitting president whose. psychological need for affirmation is so. bottomless that it overrides basic. social norms around grief, around death, uh around simply being quiet and letting. somebody else have their moment. Dolly. Parton spent her entire life making sure. other people felt seen. Kids who got a. free book in the mail, uh upand. cominging artists that she mentored,
theme park employees she paid tuition. for. And Trump, however, given the. opportunity to honor that legacy, made. sure that we all knew first and foremost. how she felt about him. If that doesn't. tell you something about the difference. between genuine generosity and. performative self-obsession, I don't. know what will. Finally, let's end with. this because Dolly Parton deserves it. Here are a raft of different tributes. that were paid to Dolly Parton from. around the world. Heat. Heat. [music].

Before. [music]. you go, one quick request. It's become. clear to me that this White House is.
dead set on preventing me from reaching. any audience. Trump's decision to put me. as the first name on his enemies list is. a testament to that. But it didn't quiet. down then, and I won't do it now. So, please do me a favor and subscribe to. this channel.
