Gas prices sore under Donald Trump's. presidency, and it's a good thing. Republicans didn't attack Biden for the. high cost of gas, or this could get. really embarrassing. This is just. another day. [music]. Over a year and a half ago, when Donald. Trump took office, he vowed to usher in. a new era of affordability. So, let's. check in with how well that's going, shall we? >> We're continuing to see a steady rise in. gas prices with no immediate signs of. slowing down. Take a look. The current. average for regular gas from 3 cents.

overnight to $446. per gallon. >> Diesel just hitting another all-time. high, $639 a gallon, about 270 more than. this time last year. >> Staggering rise in gas prices across the. United States. And experts are warning. it's about to get even worse. >> Even worse? How is that even possible? Will Americans discover their partners. have been cheating on them with gas? But. you know what? We got this. So gas. prices are a little bit high. Maybe this.

is the perfect time for Americans to. start getting some of those extra steps. in. Hell, if we all start walking to the. grocery store instead of driving, our. little financial speed bump is no longer. an issue. >> Grocery prices are likely to continue to. rise due to the increase in. transportation costs linked to the cost. of diesel. >> Hey, who needs to eat anyway? Am I. right? I mean, we could all stand to. lose a few pounds. And your. national security, yes, is even more. important than your pocketbook. And if. there's one man who's been consistent on. this issue, it is Senator Roger. Marshall. The first man in the room to. stomach high gas prices for the greater. good. That's right, Senator Marshall is. above any cheap talking points about. expensive gas. Or maybe they want these. high prices. It just seems like.

yesterday I was filling my truck up back. home for less than $2 a gallon. And now. again, it's over $5 a gallon across most. of the nation. Rising energy prices add. inflationary pressure to everything. It's like a game of dominoes. When the. diesel fuel powering our 18-wheelers are. costing truckers 80% more than it did. last year, they're going to have to pass. on that rate to their consumers. Okay? But look, there is a simple explanation. You see, back then Biden was crippling.

consumers. But now Trump is protecting. consumers by keeping them safe. And I. don't know about you, but I think people. feel most secure when they're broke. But. I'm sure that's the only member of the. GOP trying to view this gas crisis. through a pair of rosecolored glasses. >> Yeah, gas prices are on their minds as. they always are for our producers, our. farmers and ranchers and people that. drive long distances in Wyoming. They. also understand that what the president. is doing in an effort to provide. stability in that part of the world will. have good long-term impacts in terms of.

energy prices. They also understand that. Republicans are the party of energy. dominance. Democrats like high gas. prices because of their radical climate. agenda. Thank you. Exactly. And while. Senator Marshall from before may have. flip-flopped on this issue, do not. expect behavior like that from Senator. Baraso because he is a man who truly. truly exemplifies consistency. What is. the answer to getting this inflation off.

of the table for American families who. are spending all of their uh disposable. income on muchneeded goods? >> Yeah. Well, a lot of it is a Republican. personification of reliability like a. McDonald's burger, the same no matter. where and when. go back to what Representative Emmer was. saying about communists, that high gas. prices are a small price to pay to avoid. that fate. And I wholeheartedly agree. We can't have those people in charge. Because if that nightmare scenario were. to become a reality, think about what. that would look like. Soon we could. start seeing American leaders buying up. private companies or treating the. military like it's their own personal. police force. And don't even get me. started on the egos of those guys in. charge. Only a matter of time before. they plaster their faces on our. passports, national park passes,

cultural institutions, battleships, and. our federal agencies. Thanks, but no. thanks. The reality is it is bad enough. that Americans are being forced to pay. these high gas prices. It is worse that. they're doing it because of a war that. Trump swore he wouldn't start. But. what's worse than both of those is that. the people who spent years raising hell. about high gas prices under a Democratic. president are now the ones defending. this economic storm because they. don't have an ounce of empathy for. people struggling with affordability.

And it's not like they don't know it's a. problem. They themselves campaign. directly on this issue. It's that now. that their party is responsible, they. just don't care. All they actually care. about is holding on to power and making. deer leader happy. And that's gross.
