Trump gets what he DESERVES amid ICE shooting
In the aftermath of yet another. unprovoked shooting at the hands of ICE. in Minneapolis, Senate Minority Leader. Chuck Schumer issued an announcement. that is going to have massive. implications on the future of ICE and. Homeland Security. Quote, "What's. happening in Minnesota is appalling and. unacceptable in any American city. Democrats sought common sense reforms in. the Department of Homeland Security. spending bill. But because of. Republicans refusal to stand up to. President Trump, the DHS bill is. woefully inadequate to reign in the. abuses of ICE. I will vote no. Senate. Democrats will not provide the votes to. proceed to the appropriations bill if.
the DHS funding bill is included. Just. days ago, the government spending bill. that included DHS funding managed to. pass the House with the support from. about seven Democrats in addition to. virtually all Republicans. As the bill. heads to the Senate, where it needs 60. votes to pass, Schumer has now announced. that Senate Democrats will not give the. votes necessary to pass it. Meaning, if. DHS funding is included, we are likely. to see a government shutdown, the second. of Trump's second term. Let's be clear. here. There is no excuse for a single. Democrat to offer a single vote for any.
bill that gives a dime a dime to funding. to DHS or ICE. The fact that seven. Democrats did it in the House is already. indefensible. But luckily, it requires. approval from the Senate, approval that. seems dead on arrival given Schumer's. announcement. But with that said, refusing to fund DHS is the bare minimum. we should expect here. This should go. without saying, but a lawless, rogue, incompetent agency like ICE should not. be rewarded as they slaughter Americans. in the streets with no due process and. no controls. So again, refusing to fund.
ICE and DHS given these developments is. the bare minimum. Frankly, the agency. should be dismantled and the people. responsible for committing these. atrocities on a daily basis should face. criminal prosecution. The reason that. these people feel like they can commit. these crimes with impunity is because. there have been no consequences. Think. about, for example, what happened in the. aftermath of Trump trying to rig the. 2020 election. You had Merrick Garland, the top law enforcement official in. America, who did not touch Trump for 2.
years. Only then did he finally dain to. appoint a special counsel, Jack Smith, who had so little time to prosecute, that Trump was effectively able to run. out the clock, at which point he. pardoned every single person responsible. for participating in the insurrection, thereby basically making it clear that. crime is legal in America so long as. it's committed in Trump's name. That is. the consequence of not holding criminals. to account in a timely manner. That is. the consequence of broadcasting that. avoiding the optics of politicization is. more important than pursuing justice.
without fear of favor. In fact, that's a. point that I brought up in today's. interview with Graham Platner, who's. running for Senate in Maine. >> I think they know a thing that I we need. to start learning, which is that when. you have power and you wield it and no. one has the ability to stop you, >> Yeah. >> then you just have that power, >> right? I I I I honestly and look, there's no surprise to me that this is. happening now in uh in states that very.
much could be like that like like in. Maine uh in play come fall uh for the. midterm election. You know, this is a. this has nothing to do with law. This. has nothing to do with protecting. Americans. This barely has anything to. do with immigration if we're being. honest. Yeah. This is using the age-old. tactic of scapegoating the marginalized. and the atrisisk communities in order to. come up with the excuse of expanding. capacity for state violence and. repression. >> Yeah.
>> Uh I think that's what they're doing. I. think they know what they're up to. Um, and it is that to me is the most. concerning thing where I I'm fairly. convinced that this is just building the. momentum and the power to uh to just. impose their will, hoping that people. aren't going to fight back. >> Right. Right. And frankly, they've. gotten they've had a lot of success at. getting people to capitulate. Whether. it's the ABC Newses of the World, CBS's. of the world, Meta, Washington Post, you. look at a lot of these law firms, you.
look at universities, you look at tech. CEOs who've just heaped tons and tons of. money onto Trump and and they've seen. that capitulation. And so all that that. says is look how easy it is to own. people. Look how easy it is to impose. our will on people. all of these, you. know, supposedly esteemed institutions. and two big like the the free press, the. Fourth estate, you have the the. universities, these these billionaire. tech CEOs, all of these people fell like. dominoes. And so if if it was that easy. to to to own those people, think about.
how easy it's going to be to just impose. our will on the plebes who live in these. blue states who are taking to the. streets who can who we can just send in. our, you know, secret police and they'll. just quell any violence uh or or. disscent that occurs. But I think you're. exactly right about this idea of. wielding power when you get it. And I. hope that any Democrats who serve right. now recognize recognize their own. impotence when they think back to these. moments where they've said, "Oh, well, we we want to do what you know, we want. to pass this law, but like the. parliamentarian or norms or or like, you.
know, or or we don't we couldn't do what. we're trying to do right now because. they might abuse that process at some. point in the future." When Republicans. have power, they wield it. They wield it. to the nth degree and they abuse it. And. meanwhile, you've got Democrats more. focused on protecting the sanctity of. the filibuster than actually getting. something done. >> I mean, you this is this is why I'm. running for Senate. >> Like you you that's literally the reason. I'm doing this. >> To watch the full interview with Graham, check out the video on my channel and. please make sure to subscribe to see. more interviews and to support. independent media. that I'm approaching 5 million. subscribers. So, if you're not yet. subscribed, please help me reach that. milestone. The sad reality is that ICE. has devolved into a completely rogue, lawless agency that views itself as. judge, jury, and executioner. And as if. that wasn't bad enough, they also view. themselves as completely above the law. They lie openly and brazenly about their. illegal actions as if to mock the very. concept of law. Today we watched an ICE. agent kill a protester who was filming. them only for everybody involved in this. administration to play makebelieve and.
coales around this idea that. the protester was brandishing some. weapon. For example, during this. operation, an individual approached US. border patrol agents with a 9mm. semi-automatic handgun. The agents attempted to disarm the. individual, but he violently resisted. Fearing for his life and the lives and. safety of fellow officers, a Bord agent.
fired defensive shots, medics on the scene immediately. delivered medical aid to the subject, but the subject was pronounced dead at. the scene. The suspect also had two. loaded magazines and no accessible ID. This looks like a situation where an. individual wanted to do maximum damage. and massacre law enforcement. >> An individual approached US Border. Patrol officers with a 9mm.

The suspect also had two magazines with. ammunition in them that held dozens of. rounds. He also had no ID. This looks.
like a situation where an individual. arrived at the scene to inflict maximum. damage on individuals and to kill law. enforcement. >> Yeah. Is this the gun that he was. brandishing? Because uh that's a phone. And if a federal agency and the US. government can't tell the difference, then our tax dollars should not fund. them while they learn. So good on Senate. Democrats for for not participating in. this farce. But remember, as far as. dismantling and holding ICE to account. is concerned, this is not the last step.
