Trump drops SHOCKING ballroom news in INSANE update | Another Day
Taxpayers are on the hook for more than. half of Donald Trump's ballroom, which. cost millions more than he previously. said. I'm really starting to distrust this. guy. This is just another day. >> [music]. >> If you're one of the millions of. Americans who turn red each time they. hear about the construction of Donald. Trump's $450 million ballroom, now would. be a good time to take your blood. pressure medication. >> From that new Washington Post report, quote, "A detailed project summary. prepared for the White House by the. contractor more than 3 weeks before.
Trump's comments estimated the total. construction cost at $600 million.". >> I guess all those wealthy donors are in. for a hell of a lot more than they. bargained for. >> With more than half of that coming from. taxpayers. >> Well, it's a lot less funny now. >> [clears throat]. >> Yes, according to a new bombshell report. by the Washington Post, the words spewed. by the Trump administration over the. past year are, as the French would say, le.
>> We're donating a $400 million ballroom. This is all. my money and donors' money. This is. tax-free. It's all donations. Rich people and people are putting up. the money. Zero taxpayer dollars. Is. that right, Scott? And we're giving. them, myself and donors are giving them. free of charge, for nothing. We're. donating a building that's approximately. $400 million. I think I'll do it for. less. >> $300 million is the figure. And again,
it's not going to cost the taxpayers a. dime. >> That's right, not a dime. More like 3. trillion dimes. Donald Trump has been. lying the whole time with full knowledge. of the cost and the cost to taxpayers. And honestly, it makes no sense. This is. the guy who supposedly loves America. more than anyone. But why would Trump. try to screw something that he claims to. love? Huh. That tracks. Well, just wait until. Senate Majority Leader John fiscal. conservative Thune hears about this. He.
is going to be pissed. >> I haven't heard a response yet from the. White House to that reporting, so I'll. I'll withhold judgment on that. >> Ah, yes. It's best to wait for a lie. from the liar who told the original lie. before making a formal statement. At a. time when Americans are hurting as a. result of his failed policies, this. president has chosen to stick us with. the bill even though we all know full. well that the ballroom donors aren't. exactly hard up for cash. >> Some of the groups include Amazon, Apple, Coinbase, Hard Rock.
International, Google, Lockheed Martin, Meta, which is the parent company of. Facebook, Palantir, T-Mobile. >> Yes, pretty much anyone who was a. contestant on Who Wants to Be a. Billionaire is on that list. But at. least they donated out of the goodness. of their hearts. >> And we looked at the 27 companies that. have been identified as ballroom donors, and we found that of those 27 companies, more than half of them have received. huge contracts in the last 6 months. since they made their donations, since. they were feted at the White House in a.
banquet, totally $50 billion. >> Hey, not a bad deal. It's sort of like. if at Christmas time you donated a. little bit of money to Santa, and then. in January, he returned the favor by. giving you all the money he collected. and also said you could have your way. with his wife. Not sure why I added that. one in. If you ask me, the guy's in an unhappy. marriage and looking for any reason to. split. But while the rest of us knew. this would be the case all along, some. Republicans in Congress were still on. the fence even just a few weeks ago. >> There's no architectural plans.
There is no environmentals. There's no engineering. There's no. uh sense of. when we ask. how did it happen to cost exactly a. billion? In my mind, that is. they could cost a lot less, they could. cost a lot more. I. I I just don't get it. >> Yes, who knows where the price could. land when you're being kept in the dark. by Donald Trump. On one hand, nothing. he's ever done in his entire life has.
ever benefited the customer, but on the. other hand, maybe things will be. different this time. Now, if you'll. excuse me, I have to go Venmo this. stripper who promised she'd be my. girlfriend as soon as she finishes grad. school. Donald Trump is a master snake oil. salesman. He puts a big production on. for the American people, reminding us. how lucky we are to have a president. willing to give the people's house such. a lavish $200 million ballroom, telling. us how normally the construction of a. $300 million ballroom would take years, but with his master building skills,
he'll have it done in a fraction of that. time, which is no small feat for a $450. million ballroom. Frankly, other. countries would lunge at the opportunity. to have such a state-of-the-art ballroom. for the low low price of $600 million. What's almost as bad as their lies is. the way Donald Trump and the GOP love to. frame this as a false choice. That while. they want an elegant ballroom for state. dinners, woke liberals are fine with foreign. heads of state sitting on beanbag chairs. munching bags of Doritos. But opulence.
is not the issue here. Wanting to be. around pretty things is not a crime, except when it is. The crime is putting. that opulence first, before lowering the. cost of healthcare, before lowering the. cost of groceries, before lowering the. cost of housing, the way Donald Trump. promised he would. >> A vote for Trump means your groceries. will be cheaper. So many people mention. I go in So many people mention. groceries. >> Your wages will rise, your costs will. fall, your job opportunities will grow.
>> And we're going to straighten it out. We're going to bring prices way down, and we're going to get it get it done. fast. I'm going to cut fuel prices in. half within 12 months, so that cuz the. energy costs are so high. The cost. The biggest problem, and you can see. this even in that people have is. everything's too expensive. >> You're telling me. I can't get an. unnecessary ballroom these days for. under $600 million. The reality is, when it comes to Donald. Trump's pet projects, he somehow always. manages to find the money with our.
money. Trump's border wall wasn't paid. for by Mexico, but lo and behold, America was good for it to the tune of. $15 billion. Trump acquired his free. plane from Qatar that turned out to cost. a billion more than free, but luckily, Trump found a few crumpled up bills in. our pockets. And then there's the. all-important reflecting pool. refurbishment that would only cost a. mere $1.8 billion to D.C. algae, or. $13.1 million in reality. But not a. problem, because you can really not put.
a price tag on crystal clear water in. our nation's capital. I'm here at the newly renovated. reflecting pool. It's painted American. flag blue, and the Democrats are going. to tell you, "Oh, there's green algae. It looks so bad." But there's pool guys. cleaning it up right now. No other. president would do that. He's right. No. other president would spend millions of. taxpayer dollars on a slew of vanity. projects while Americans struggle to. afford healthcare, groceries, housing, rent, and gasoline. So, my apologies if.
I'm not matching your high level of. gratitude and enthusiasm. Under normal circumstances, politicians. with an ounce of dignity would be livid. that they were trotted out by this. president to parrot his lies like this. >> The ballroom is totally privately. funded. >> Taxpayer dollars will not be used to. build the ballroom, but they are. donations from private enterprise. >> There is no cost to the American people. If there is a new bill. for the ballroom, the decorative part of the ballroom is.
privately funded. >> But I guess how could we expect Scott. Bessent to be on top of all the. financials? He's only the Secretary of. the Treasury. These folks should be fuming with rage. that their credibility is now shot. But. again, that would be under normal. circumstances. But we are living in. anything but. Nope, Donald Trump's. sycophantic acolytes seem more than. willing to debase themselves over and. over in the hopes of staying in this. guy's good graces. Hoping that peddling. the excuses for his lies will only. further endear themselves to dear. leader. Even though they all know he.
only cares about himself. Donald Trump. is a huckster, a man more than willing. to throw members of his own party and. his own cabinet under the bus if it. means adding another zero to his own. bank account at the expense of the. American people. >> No other president would do that. >> I couldn't agree more. >> [music]. >> Before you go, I'm very excited to. announce that I've written a new book. titled The Day After: How to wield power. in a post-Trump world. The book explores. what is, in my opinion, the single most. important theme that we're dealing with.
in politics today and moving forward. Power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to. wield it. This book explains how we got. here and, more importantly, how we. should finally wield power if we're. fortunate enough to get it back. It is. the blueprint for progressives who want. to do far more than just restore the. status quo.
