Trump drops HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT | Another Day
The ceasing of fire in Donald Trump's. Iran ceasefire has ceased. This is just. another day. [music]. I'm not going to lie, it has been a. rough couple of weeks for America. We're. out of the World Cup. We've seen. record-breaking heat waves across the. country. My invitation to Taylor and. Travis's wedding got lost in the mail. But at least we can all rejoice in. knowing that our president, thanks to. his brave efforts in Iran, has ushered. in a new era of peace and prosperity. >> Overnight, a major escalation in the.
Middle East. The US launching new. strikes in Iran. Central Command saying. dozens of targets were hit. All in. response to Iran's attacks on three. ships in the street of Hormuz. or not? Yes, as it turns out, this. brief, inexpensive, non-war excursion. that Americans were sold back in. February has turned out to be quite. different than they expected. In a lot. of ways, our war with Iran is like. online dating. The profile pick talked a. big game, but when they showed up to the.
bar, reality was undeniable. Now, for. weeks, the administration has bragged. about the ceasefire that goes along with. theou or memorandum of understanding, with even Trump claiming weeks ago that. the deal with the Islamic Republic of. Iran is now complete, which made today's. press conference at the NATO summit. perfectly time to answer that age-old. question, what the is going on? Mr. President, >> IS THE CEASEFIRE OVER? IS IS THE. CEASEFIRE DONE? Is theou dead? It's a very interesting question. To me,
I think it's over. >> To me, uh, if I'm not mistaken, when you. are the commanderin-chief, you're the. main me that matters. Why is Donald. Trump pretending that he's watching the. Iran war the same way the rest of us. watch football? To me, you got to go. with the screen pass. Muscle your way to. the first down. But hey, that's if I. were in charge. This is Donald Trump's. war, and it is an undeniable disaster. Thousands of unnecessary lives have been. lost and it's cost an astronomical.
amount of money for Americans. In an. article published last month, Moody's. Analytics estimates that the war has. cost US consumers and taxpayers about. $132 billion so far. And the meter is. still running. Which is probably why, despite the show that Trump. acknowledged only hours before, he went. on to say this. >> Why are you apparently unable to end the. Iran war? So, I think we're doing just. the opposite. The Iran war has been a. tremendous military success. I think.
it's a tremendous success. Iran. >> Wow. I haven't witnessed something that. convincing since Steven Miller debuted. his new hairdo on a Sunday show. How. does this man have a single shred of. credibility left? Every moment of his. presidency has been a parade of lies. sprinkled with a light dusting of. gaslighting. And still, he has the balls. to say this. >> I've predicted everything. I've been right about everything and I. have been for a long time. That's how I. got to be president three times. It's. how I won three elections. I did very. well in the second one. Won it. Was a.
rigged election. But I've been right. >> Take a minute to let that wash over you. The example Donald Trump gives to prove. that he is right is the thing that he is. categorically wrong about. That's like. Matt Gates trying to prove he never paid. to sleep with underage girls by showing. you his receipt for having paid to sleep. with underage girls. Now, under normal. circumstances, Americans could look at. our leaders in Congress to put the. brakes on Trump's war powers and put a. stop to this costly endeavor. So, let's.
just check in with Mike Johnson, who as. the head of a co-equal branch of. government surely has some serious. independent thoughts on this matter. >> We are not at war. We have no intention. of being at war. The president and the. department of defense have made this. very clear. The Department of War has. made it very clear. This is a a limited. operation. I think we're wrapping up. Operation Epic Fury. That's what I. think. Um and uh I think it will be done. in short order and that'll be right on. schedule. >> We had the Iran skirmish. We settled. that thing out. We're cooking with gas.
>> Cooking with gas or you left the stove. on because you seem to be a little light. in the head. Regardless of the. irrefutable evidence that this is not. some quick skirmish or light tussle in. the Middle East, Republicans continue to. back up a leader who is now the. laughingtock of the world. Not that he. sees it that way. They thought we were a. bunch of fools. They saw a president. that couldn't talk. He couldn't walk. It. was a disaster. >> A disaster. I'll tell you what, let's. get in the wayback machine to the year.
of our Lord 2026 about 60-ish minutes. before that press conference when Trump. said this. >> I told the story yesterday. We had 111. missile shot by the Islamic Republic of. Japan. You know the worst part about. that as statement? Somewhere back in. Washington, a low-level aid is being. forced to stay at the office late. tonight to make the map of the Islamic. Republic of Japan so that Trump can. point to it during his next in-flight. press conference. But the big question. is, where do we go from here? Now that.
Trump has declared our ceasefire to be. officially over, is this nonwar fully. back on? The talks between our two. nations continue? >> I don't want to deal with them anymore. with their scum. You know what scum is? Um, do you I mean you should considering. it is caked all over our 2,000 ft. reflecting pool, but maybe you didn't. mean it literally. >> They're scum. They're sick people. They're led by sick people. As far as. I'm concerned, it's over. I'll speak to. our negotiators. They want to negotiate. They're good people. Steve Woodco, Jared.
Kushner, but they have to come back to. me. As far as I'm concerned, it's just a. waste of time dealing with them. They're. liars. We make a deal and they if I make. a deal with him, we have a deal. And he. goes out, he talks. We make a deal. Everyone's agreed. No nuclear weapon. We. make a deal. They go outside, talk to. the press, they say, "We never even. talked about it. There's something wrong. with them. They're cuckoo.". Yep, you heard correctly. That is Donald. Trump saying that people who make deals. and then pretend those deals were never.
made are lying scumbags. Hey, unrelated, remember the deal he made with Americans. to fix the housing crisis? We will open. up new tracks of federal land for. large-scale housing construction so that. we can get housing on the market. Housing affordability crisis. It's too. expensive to build the homes and they're. building them and they cost a fortune. >> Huh. It would seem that not honoring. that deal would make this guy a lying. scumbag, but [laughter] he wouldn't. possibly [gasps] do that.
>> What are your plans for the housing. bill, Mr. President? Are you. >> I don't know. I think is so unimportant. by compared to by compared to the Save. America Act. >> Do you hear how exhausted he sounds from. having to answer questions about. screwing over the American people? Like. someone get that guy to a cabinet. meeting ASAP so he can take a nap. Or. how about a deal to bring our grocery. prices down? >> Bacon is through the roof. They're all. through the roof. The milk, everything. is bad. And we're going to straighten it. out. We're going to bring prices way.
down and we'll get it get it done fast. >> Well, that apparently happened. so fast. it's almost like people didn't even. notice. >> Many Americans are still struggling to. afford basic necessities. In fact, new. government data shows that consumer. prices remain stubbornly high. That's. right, stubbornly high. As in when your. stoner roommate says, "Dude, I'm. stubbornly high and I can't afford. anything to eat." Oh, and I hate to uh. bring this up out of fear that it might. make Donald Trump look like one of those. lying scumbags he so detests, but there.
was the whole deal that he made about. not starting foreign wars. >> What changed? Because you insisted no. new wars. >> First of all, I didn't guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest. military in the world? I built our. military. I inherited a terrible. military. We had no equipment. We had. nothing. I built a tremendous military. When you say I promised, I didn't. promise anything. I don't like these. endless wars. >> Yep. He didn't promise anything. He only. promised everything.
>> Under Trump, we will have no more wars, no more disruptions, and we will have. prosperity and peace for all. No more. wars, no more disruptions. We will have. prosperity, and we will have peace. WITH. OUR VICTORY IN NOVEMBER, the years of war, weakness, and chaos. will be over. I don't have wars. If. properly stated, it would never start. They said he will start a war. I'm not. going to start a war. I'm going to stop.
wars. >> How many more deals does this guy have. to pretend he never made? Thank god he. didn't promise to not try and his. daughter or he'd really look like a. hypocrite. Donald Trump loves to paint. America's previous presidents as inept. dealmakers, but when you've led a nation. into a multi-billion dollar war and come. away with nothing to show for it, what. does that make you? Gosh, if only there. was some concise way to describe this. type of person who would lie his face. off to win America's votes, only to use. that power to get us into another. unnecessary conflict in the Middle East,
tank our nation's credibility, our. economy, while at the same time. enriching himself and his friends. >> They're scum. They're sick people. >> Yep. That'll do. [music]. Before you go, I'm very excited to. announce that I've written a new book. titled The Day After: How to Wield Power. in a PostTrump World. The book explores. what is, in my opinion, the single most. important theme that we're dealing with. in politics today and moving forward. Power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to.
wield it. This book explains how we got. here and more importantly, how we should. finally wield power if we're fortunate. enough to get it back. It is the. blueprint for progressives who want to. do far more than just restore the status. quo. Please pre-order today by visiting. the link in the episode description or. go to brianylcohen.com/book. You can grab yours from any of the major. retailers like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. or find an independent bookstore closest. to you that's also listed on that. website. Thanks so much for supporting.
