Trump drops BOMBSHELL election threat

Mail and ballots are crooked as hell. WE'RE THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD that. used this type of mail and ballot. The. only country in the world. I'll tell you. what, Republicans have to win this one. >> We'll never lose a race for 50 years. We. won't lose a race. We want voter ID. We. want proof of citizenship. This is. Democracy Watch. Mark, that was Donald. Trump speaking at a steel facility in. Georgia saying that we will never lose a. race for 50 years. We won't lose a race. if they're able to pass the Save Act. So, what should we be most concerned.

about as far as the Save Act is. concerned that Trump feels so confident. if this thing gets passed, they'll never. lose again? >> Brian, let me be clear. He's going to. try to steal the election. Okay? He's. going to try to steal the election and. he is telling you that. He is saying. that not only am I going to try to steal. this election, I think we can steal the. election for the next next half century. Now that that is obviously hyperbole on. his part, but we need to start taking. this very seriously because what he is. saying is that if he gets his way, which. by the way includes things that are not.

even in the SAVE act, right? He lists. some of the stuff in the Save Act, which. is really bad and I'll run through that. But then he lists a bunch of stuff. that's not in the Save Act. And we need. to understand that for Donald Trump, it's not about any one bill. I mean, this is not a guy who pours over. legislative text. It is about a series. of actions. It's about passing laws. It's about executive orders. It's about. his Department of Justice raiding uh and. and grabbing ballots. Uh it's about him. trying to federalize or take over. elections. And so the Save Act part of.

it is central, but it's not the whole. story. The Save Act would um impose a. mandatory proof of citizenship law, which would disenfranchise tens of. millions of voters who do not either. have a passport or an original birth. certificate. Because if you don't have. one of those two documents, you cannot. prove citizenship. And the Republicans. who keep posting that a driver's license. proves citizenship. They are either. lying or they're morons because it is. not the case that driver's license.

proves citizenship. In fact, not even. Real ID driver's license prove. citizenship except in five states. So, if you're not in one of those five. states, then even a Real ID driver's. license doesn't prove citizenship. The. only way to prove citizenship, an. original birth certificate or a. certified copy or a passport. Oh, and by. the way, if you think out there, you. don't have to worry because you have. your birth certificate. Tell that to. Barack Obama who had his birth. certificate and Donald Trump still lied. and said he wasn't born in the United. States. So, I don't think birth. certificates are going to even wind up.

categorically uh proving citizenship. because the next big lie that they will. tell will be about birth certificates. That's not the only provision. We also. have the other the the fact that it. imposes an ID requirement that for. example bans any state from allowing. college IDs to be used even if they're. issued by the states. So there's a lot. of terrible stuff in the Save Act. And. don't get me wrong, Democrats need to. block it. My understanding is they will. block it from Republican efforts in. Congress. But anyone who thinks that.

that's the beginning or the end of where. Donald Trump is going here doesn't. understand the threat that we are under. And you're exactly right on that point. because Trump even came out and said. that if we're not able to pass this. thing legislatively, we'll still figure. out a way to get it done. And so when he. says that we're still going to figure. out a way to get voter ID done in the. states from the federal level without. legislation, what is he talking about. and how much credence should we lend. that threat? >> All right, so he's not only saying he's. going to get ID done, he's going to get. no mail in voting. Yeah.

>> Now, how could he do those things? Like. let's just take a step back. How could. he do those things? Well, one way he. could do it is by saying, "I'm going to. issue executive orders. I'm going to. direct, for example, the US Postal. Service not to carry uh uh ballots. I'm. going to issue an executive order, you. know, tying some government funding to. states if they don't have ID." That will. fail. Okay? He'll get sued. My law firm. and I, we sued him over the last. executive order and we won. If he issues. a new executive order, here's my message. to you, Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, the. rest of you. We know how to sue and we.

usually win. and on this one it'll be a. layup. So like that won't stand up. through the executive order process. But. Donald Trump when he says that they'll. figure out a way to do this, he's not. talking about just legal ways. I mean. after all look what he did after the. 2020 election. He started by going to. court and then it ended with violence. And in between there were a lot of other. things that he did that turned out to be. illegal. You know I know that Brian. because he got indicted over them. >> Yeah. >> Right. And so like let's not forget, you.

know, he got indicted in for felony. counts uh uh at the federal level and in. the state of Georgia. Now the Supreme. Court undid one and the other got bound. up in a bunch of nonsense in. Georgia. But he's willing to break the. law and he's surrounded by people right. now who will facilitate him breaking the. law. So whether it is seizing ballots, whether it is Brian saying that states. can't count ballots, can't count them if.

they were not uh uh the product of photo. ID. Well, that what would that do? That. would throw out the entire voting in. entire states. >> Yeah. >> Now, if that sounds extreme, let me ask. you this, Brian. What did Donald Trump. do in late December of 2020? The state. of Texas went to the Supreme Court and. asked for the results of presidential. election to be thrown out in four. states. If you don't think Donald Trump. will say that states without votto ID. they they don't their their entire votes. get set aside and that he and Mike.

Johnson get to decide who gets seated, you're you don't understand what Donald. Trump is up to. He won't get away with. it. So I don't want people doom walking. away dooming from this. Like we're going. to fight him and we're going to beat. him. But Donald Trump knows no limit. There is no norm. there is no law that. will constrain him. And so all of you. need to wake up and realize that he's. going to try to steal this election and. it's going to be up to you and it's. going to be up to me and it's going to. be up to the rest of us to fight back. And and by the way, I think the only. saving grace here is knowing that as far.

as litigation is concerned, we have. people like you and your team who are. fighting back against this stuff, including 25 states right now, including. Washington DC, where it's your firm. standing in between voter data getting. sent to the federal government or being. kept at the state level where it. belongs. That includes sensitive. information like social security. numbers. But what if he does it within with so. little time that the litigation isn't.

going to be able to be completed in. time? Like isn't he banking on the fact. that if he can do this at the last. minute that uh that there won't be. enough time to allow the process to play. itself out in the courts? >> Yes, he's going to try to press every. advantage he can. He's going to try to. use the calendar to his advantage. He'll. try to use venue to his advantage. You. know what courts? He'll try to use. states to his advantage. I mean, you. know, one of the things we assume is. that the states are going to resist him. Well, the blue states will resist him. >> Yeah. >> Many of the purple states will resist.

him. But are you so sure that all the. red states are going to resist him? No. You know, I don't think so. I think some. of them will take will take his lead and. say, "Yep, that we we we agree with. them." And so, we need to be ready to be. everywhere. We need to be ready to be in. all 50 states. We need to be ready uh to. to be uh uh uh to be litigating on a. variety of issues, but the most. important thing is what you said. We. need to be ready to do it quickly. And, you know, I put my team speed up against. anyone. I mean, the fact is, you know, it when when when uh Georgia passed. their voter suppression law uh in 2021,

we sued them within an hour. When Ronda. Santis did it, we sued him six minutes. after he signed the law. So, Donald. Trump can be assured that if he does a. public uh signing of an executive order, by the time, you know, the Republicans. behind him file out clutching their. autograph MAGA hats, we will have. already sued in federal court. and we. will win and we will press the courts to. move as fast as as possible to make sure. that that's the case. >> In those instances, has your team kind.

of wargamed out all of the possible. things that the Trump administration. might do to suppress votes or um or. meddle in elections so that you can be. prepared or anticipate any lawsuits that. you might have to file. >> Yeah, we are constantly uh wargaming out. uh uh uh potential actions on the other. side. It's one of the ways we're able to. litigate so fast is that we essentially. prepare pleadings assuming certain. things are going to happen. If they. don't happen then, you know, the the.

sort of the work goes goes for to not. But we want to be, you know, uh. advocates for democracy. We want to. press uh as quickly as we can, particularly as we get close to election. day. And we think that that that gives. us the best chance of success. And look, we're in the fight of our generation. I. mean, you know, for many of us, and I I. think about you, Brian, all the time. because, you know, you for many years. have been a staunch advocate of of. Medicare for all, um, and also, uh,

combating, uh, climate change. And I. think about this all the time because. right now, if we don't solve the. problems of democracy, if we don't. combat what Donald Trump is doing right. now to the rule of law, none of those. other things are going to be possible. So the threat of our generation that we. are facing is a crisis of democracy and. we have to get through that before we. can get to all the rest of it. And that. is something that where that frankly you. know I think about every day when people. ask you know do I take why don't I take. time off why am I you know litigating.

and also doing these other things. It's. because I feel the weight of that every. single day as I know you do, Brian. And. and you know, you people don't realize, but when you see videos from Brian, you. know, at 10 a.m. in the morning and then. 9:00 at night and then several in. between, it is because Brian feels that. weight also. I mean, he and I talk about. this off air. He feels an essential. commitment not just to those of you. watching this video, but frankly to a. broader community of people who you may. be talking to about what you learn on. these videos about the crisis of.

democracy we have right now. us to to get this information out to our. broader circles and even in my own. family I have people who don't pay. attention to politics and I use that as. my little corner of the universe first. to make sure that I let my people know. and and I think everybody has that same. power to find people in their family or. their circles or their neighborhoods or. their gyms, whatever it may be, and make. yourself responsible for those people. So, we don't view this as just talking. to you and you're the end user. You are. part of this ecosystem and and we all. have a responsibility here to make sure. that everybody knows what's going on,

>> right? And so, let me connect that to. the original clip you saw. So Donald. Trump says that they want that he thinks. if he can tell these lies and he can get. Republicans in Congress or his. administration or conservative judges or. justice whatever one way he can get this. done that they won't lose elections for. 50 years. He is saying that not only for. the people who are in the room with him, not even just for Steve Bannon's. audience or right-wing uh the right-wing. uh echo chamber to see those clips, Fox.

News to see those clips, but also. because he wants to distort reality for. people who are not paying attention to. politics, right? So, he wants the the. faithful to hear that they need to. restrict voting rights in order for. Republicans to be dominant in elections. And for the faithful, that's enough. motivation. But there's a second and a. third order effect that Donald Trump is. trying to do. He is trying to say that. if the faithful tells people that there. are corrupt elections, that the people.

who aren't paying a lot of attention. will still walk away thinking, "Oh, there must have been corrupt election.". Yes. That the people who aren't paying. close attention may say, "Well, you. know, I'm not saying that Donald Trump. did win the 2020 election, but something. must have gone on. I'm not saying that. January 6 was right, but right and. that's what Donald Trump is counting on. And so the reason why I say he's trying. to steal an election and the reason why. I say that the the the the the act is a. part of a larger effort that involves.

legislation, executive orders, but also. these other efforts uh to to spread lies. and misinformation, disinformation, discourage people from voting, confuse. people, but also inspire them as. happened in January 6 to violence also. uh as we see all the time uh get uh. people to uh to distrust our election. systems and therefore be more open open. to the the efforts that Donald Trump. wants on the back end, which when.

Republicans lose, and let's be honest, Republicans are going to lose control of. the House if we have free and fair. elections. I mean, they may very well. lose control of the Senate, but they're. they're they're in desperately bad shape. in the House. But what Donald Trump. wants is that when that happens, for him. to say, "I told you it was all rigged. I. told you Republic Republicans that. Democrats would cheat. Now they have. And now I want to do this extraordinary. thing. I want to set aside the. elections. I want the FBI to seize. ballots. I want Mike Johnson to do. whatever Mike Johnson's going to do. And. so for you out there watching this video.

to be effective, you cannot just be. informed yourself. As Brian said, you. need to make sure that your neighbors, your family, your friends, your your. bridge club, your book club, your. fraternity brothers, all of them know. what's going on.
