Trump demands his OWN face on a $250 bill | Another Day
Donald Trump is supremely focused on our. nation's money and by that I mean he. wants his face on it. This is just. another day. >> [music]. >> If you're one of the millions of. Americans struggling with affordability. right now, I've got some good news for. you. Your money troubles are about to be. over. >> The Trump administration is now looking. to celebrate the nation's 250th. anniversary with a new $250. bill, but not just any bill, one with. President Trump's face on the front of.
it. >> Sorry, >> [laughter]. >> did I say that your money troubles were. over? I meant Trump's money troubles. You know, a lot of people might think. that being a multi-billionaire would be. its own reward, but it turns out true. happiness is being able to spend. taxpayer dollars with your face on it. And by the way, how cool that the man. who says that he understands money. better than anyone in 2026 wants to put. his face on paper bills. What's next? Demanding his face on all of our CDs, too? Now, Donald Trump's money shot.
gross isn't exactly a done deal because. federal law bars printing US money with. images of a living person. So, try as he. might, it looks like this is merely. another one of the president's lofty. pipe dreams that will go unfulfilled. >> One of those folks who works at Treasury. told the Trump folks that there are. indeed legal obstacles to this. And. then, according to the Washington Post, she told colleagues she was abruptly. reassigned.
>> Yeah, she was simply reassigned. You. know, the same way Donald Trump loves. Eric, desperately wanted to go to Don. Jr.'s wedding, and doesn't want to. his daughter. But, this is where the. Trump administration is focusing their. efforts. See, their hands are tied when. it comes to lowering gas prices, or. making groceries more affordable, or. housing more affordable, or making. healthcare more accessible, but they. will move heaven and earth to get. Trump's caricature on a $250 bill, A a. denomination that really comes in handy.
when you're looking to piss off any. cashier. No, I do not have anything. smaller because that would be. unpatriotic. How on Earth could they possibly defend. a move like this? >> Just think it's a good idea that while. people are struggling to afford gas and. groceries. >> Look, I think it has I I think that it's. bifurcated. But do you think we should. have a 250th anniversary the. celebration? >> Yeah, take that Kaitlan Collins. Either. you want a 250th celebration of our.
country or you don't. Maybe you're fine. with fireworks, a parade, a state fair, a national prayer event, a kid-based. athletic competition, a UFC fight on the. White House lawn, and about a thousand. other red, white, and blue-themed. events, but the rest of the country. knows that it's not a true celebration. of what our founders intended unless our. sitting president has his face on our. cash. Is this actually happening? >> It's happening because it's being funded. the by private citizens, by the federal. government, by state governments, by.
municipal governments to celebrate our. country. And I I don't think that the. there's anything untoward about having. the president of the United States, the. person who was president of the United. States on the 250th anniversary bill. >> Got it. So, while it may seem like this. is coming from the White House, in. actuality, this decision is completely. up to members of Congress. And I assume, what with that being the case, Donald. Trump will recuse himself from any. involvement so as not to make our. elected officials feel any pressure one.
way or the other, just as he has so. carefully done in the past. >> I've watched stupid people like Marjorie. Traitor Greene. or some people call her Taylor Greene. Then you have Lisa Murkowski and you. have Susan Collins, disasters. Rand to. Paul that votes against every. everything. I got him elected twice. He. was stone-cold loser. Thomas Massie. is a disaster for our party. >> Total disaster. I mean, the guy wants. justice for rape victims. Thanks, but.
no, thanks. My god, this is so Hunger. Games-y that it makes me sick. An ego. maniacal leader demanding total loyalty. and beautifying the capital while the. plebs in the outer districts starve. Americans could be doing so much better. if our president spent even slightly. more time on policy than he does. desecrating our dough. >> For the first time in American history, the signature of a sitting president. will soon be featured on US currency. The Treasury announcing the decision to.
celebrate the nation's 250th birthday. this summer saying President Trump's. signature is not only appropriate, but. also well deserved. >> Is it though? Cuz to me, that's like. saying Bill Cosby being awarded with. Bartender of the Year is well deserved. I'm sorry, but how much more dictatory. do we have to get here? Guy has renamed. the Kennedy Center. His face is all over. government buildings. He's putting. himself on our passports. Could we go. just one day without this man forcibly. searing his image into our brains? >> President Trump has announced that he.
will consider restoring the money for. the tunnel if Penn Station is renamed in. his honor. >> That's right. Who could forget that our. president is running a train on our. train stations, too? Just recently, images of the proposed Penn Station were. leaked and renderings of the southwest. corner of the new 8th Avenue entrance. shows a large plaque with President. Donald J. Trump etched into marble next. to a presidential seal. What a. coincidence that the company that bid. for the project knew what Trump might. like to see. I guess the drawing of them.
blowing the president was the one that. didn't get leaked. I'll be honest, these. renderings of a beautified Penn Station. look pretty awesome. It could be great, you know, in the same way that steaks. could be great. Sneakers could be great. Vodka could be great. And phones could. be great. But alas, the reality is. having Donald Trump's mug on our money. shouldn't really matter. Honestly, if. the worst thing this president had done. was lobby to have his face on our cash, I think we'd toss it off as a politician.
being a little bit vain, uh little. conceited, slightly egotistical, mildly. arrogant, a tad narcissistic. But. unfortunately, this is not a one-off. It. is the latest example of Donald Trump's. quest to have Americans serve him rather. than the other way around. This is what. he's focused on, and it would be bad. enough if he was doing it in a vacuum. But to strong-arm government agencies to. put his face on our money at a time when. Americans are in desperate need of that. money, it is truly deplorable, especially when Donald Trump's entire.
campaign was based around him feeling. your pain. >> Starting on day one, we will defeat. inflation quickly, and we will make. America affordable again. I will cut. your energy costs in [music] half. >> It's time for the working man and woman. to finally catch a break. >> We are going to bring back the American. dream bigger, better, and stronger than. ever before. >> Was anyone's American dream having this. guy's face on their cash? Because I. think that qualifies as a nightmare. Americans are struggling financially, and we have a president whose primary.
focus is where he's going to put his. face on their finances. He's not a. patriot, he's not a lover of democracy, he is an autocrat. And everyone in his. party who buries their heads in the sand. or even worse, cheerleads his autocratic. efforts, should be held to account in. the coming midterms. Every single one of. them who's up for re-election should be. oh, let's call it reassigned. Exactly. >> [music]. >> Before you go, I'm very excited to. announce that I've written a new book.
titled The Day After: How to Wield Power. in a Post-Trump World. The book explores. what is, in my opinion, the single most. important theme that we're dealing with. in politics today and moving forward, power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to. wield it. This book explains how we got. here and more importantly, how we should. finally wield power if we're fortunate. enough to get it back. It is the. blueprint for progressives who want to. do far more than just restore the status. quo.
