Trump BOOED MERCILESSLY at World Cup finals

If Trump thought he was going to get a. warm reception at the World Cup finals, he thought wrong. It is always nice for Donald Trump to. leave his bubble of sycophants and hear. what actual humans who don't rely on him. for money or power think of the guy. And. it shouldn't be a surprise that he is. right now getting this reception,

considering Trump has managed to make. himself a pariah in this World Cup. tournament. After Team USA striker. Folarin Balogun got a red card during. the round of 32 win over Bosnia and. Herzegovina, Trump called FIFA President. Gianni Infantino directly and asked him. to review it. And shortly thereafter, FIFA did something that it hadn't done. for an American player in the 60-plus. year history of the World Cup. It. suspended the suspension, clearing. Balogun to play against Belgium. Trump, naturally, took a victory lap on. Twitter, social writing, "Thank you to.

FIFA for doing what was right and. reversing a great injustice." Coupled. with this statement right here. >> All I did, I asked for a review cuz I. didn't think it was a foul. And, you know, again, I'm good at this. stuff. I didn't think it was a foul. I. thought it was two great athletes that. crashed into each other and got. entangled. That was not a That was not a. guy punching somebody in the face or. anything that. >> And his little minions, of course, piled. on. Here is Ted Cruz. >> And on behalf [laughter] of all. Americans, thank you for getting rid of.

that ridiculous red card. >> [laughter]. >> This is his. >> [laughter]. >> It was spectacular. There was a reason. the FIFA trophy sat here for as long as. it did. >> And if you're wondering whether Donald. Trump's meddling fueled the Belgian. team, the way that they celebrated after. their win over the US answers that. question pretty clearly. >> [cheering]. [applause].

>> For those who have the fortune of not. being able to recognize Donald Trump's. iconic YMCA dance that has been burned. into our retinas against our collective. will, that was the Belgian team's way of. twisting the knife. In fact, they even. did it during the game here. And not to be outdone, they also posted. a picture of the players post victory. with the caption overturn this, which is. again a nod to Trump's very indiscreet. phone call to the FIFA president to. overturn Balogun's suspension. Now, I'm.

not saying that that's why Belgium won, but I certainly don't think it went. unnoticed by the Belgians that there was. political interference and that that was. something they remembered when they. walked onto the pitch. After all, you. don't then post overturn this if it. wasn't bothering you to begin with. In. fact, I discussed this exact point with. Jim Acosta. Here's what he had to say. >> I've been thinking about this cuz I you. know, I get into the World Cup every. four years. I think it's a a. a fantastic sporting event. You know, if. Trump had just stayed out of it, I.

wonder what might have been. You know, the US team was really pissed. Americans. were really pissed that uh that this. player had been, you know, booted out of. the game um for for the next game. against Belgium. And I just wonder if. the if the rest of the US team would. have gone out there with a chip on their. shoulder, pissed off, fired up, you. know, wanting to prove that they can win. without uh this player being, you know, wrongfully red carded. I mean, when you. watch it, it's obvious he shouldn't have. been red carded. It's a ridiculous call. Yeah. Um but you just kind of wonder if.

he had if Trump had not gotten in the. middle of it, maybe the outcome would. have been different. I know it was four. to one and so, you know, Belgium was. looking pretty strong. There's no. question about it. But you just never. know because you just don't know what. the outcome of the game is going to be. had it been a different situation. But I. just think it it taints the entire World. Cup that FIFA would buckle. I think this. was the first time, what, since like the. 1960s that they. reversed a decision like that. >> deference special deference has to be. paid for the inaugural winner of the.

FIFA Peace Prize. I mean, it this isn't. just anybody calling up. Infantino. This is This is Donald Trump, the the the you know, the. um. >> He's our Infantino. >> Yeah, our Infantino, that's right. Yeah, our our our [laughter]. globally reviled corrupt figure at the. top of a criminal enterprise. Yeah, our. Infantino. Well, you know, you had. mentioned what it would have been like. for the US team to go out feeling like, okay, now we really have to be at the. top of our game because we've lost our. star striker in what a lot of people.

believed was was um you know, an unfair. red card. And I agree that I think it. was an unfair red card, but the flip. side is think about how the Belgium team. feels when they watch our president just. be able to engage in corruption in broad. daylight. I mean, they like you you can. make the argument just as easily that. they came in extra fired up because now. they feel like they're not just. contending with unfair practices, but. like basically a a deck stacked against. them because all it takes is for Donald.

Trump to make a phone call and all of a. sudden, you know, FIFA bends to their. will. And so, I'm sure that this not. only took the wind out of the sails of. the US's team, but lit a fire under the. ass of the Belgian players who now feel. like they're not just, you know, fighting to to stay in this World Cup. tournament, but also fighting to. overcome such blatant corruption that. everybody's contending with. But the. reality is that Donald Trump is no. stranger to getting booed at events when. the crowd isn't carefully curated and. filled with only his most groveling. fans. Remember game three of the NBA.

finals just weeks ago? Why did he get booed there? First and. probably least surprising, New York. hates the guy. Less than a third of New. Yorkers cast ballots for him, and his. approval rating has only plunged since. then. Second, his presence at that game. made the experience miserable for. everybody. Because of him, not only did.

attendees have to get to the stadium 2. hours earlier, but watch parties within. the vicinity outside of the stadium were. also canceled. All because one guy, a. guy who doesn't like New York City and. who New Yorkers hate, decided that he. needed to be there. In fact, listen to. what New Yorkers had to say when his. motorcade went by on route to the. garden.

In case there was any doubt about how. New Yorkers feel about the guy. But still, despite all of the. inconvenience that it would cause, Trump. decided to do it anyway because God. forbid the attention wasn't on him for. even one day. And so, it should probably. come as a pretty big shock to Trump when. he is not insulated by groveling. sycophants and yes men at Mar-a-Lago or. the White House or his rallies, but. rather when regular people get to make. their feelings known, relentless booing. is generally the response. Case in.

point, this was the Kennedy Center. months ago after he gutted the board to. install himself and his cronies. >> [cheering]. [cheering]. >> Here he was getting booed at the Al. Smith dinner. >> Thank you. Thank you very [applause]. much. >> [applause].

>> Here's him getting booed at UFC 244. >> [cheering]. [cheering]. >> And here he is at the Libertarian. Convention in 2024. >> The Libertarian Party should nominate.

Trump for President of the United. States. Wow. That's nice. That's nice. Only if you want to win. Only if you want to win. Maybe you don't. want to win. Maybe you don't want to win. >> [cheering]. >> Thank you, DeRoy. >> And the list goes on and on, but the. through line is clear. When Trump can't. control the environment or fill the.

crowd with his drones whose entire. identities are predicated on their. support for him, when he is around. regular people, he gets a quick lesson. in just how much people like him or. don't. Probably not a great sign when. you constantly get praised by people who. need something from you and booed from. people who don't. In the meantime, grateful to the fans and the folks who. let their voices be heard at the World. Cup, an event that the entire globe is. watching. To Trump's dismay, this is. still a free country and we've still got. freedom of speech and I couldn't think.
