Trump announcement turns into NIGHTMARE | Another Day
Trump nominates a housing official to be. the director of national intelligence, and boy do I feel safer already. This is. just another day. Ever since Tulsi Gabbard announced that. she was stepping down as director of. national intelligence, Americans have. been patiently waiting to hear who would. be her replacement, and today we found. out who got next. >> President Trump just named Bill Pulty to. take over as acting director of national. intelligence. >> Wow. Oh, Bill Pulty. Billy Pults. Mr.
Willy P. Who's Bill Pulty? >> He's the heir to a construction company. fortune. He's been in this mortgage role. for the last year. >> Now, he is the director of the Federal. Housing Finance Agency. Was the head of Fannie Mae and of. Freddie Mac. >> He's relatively young at 38 years old. >> That's right. In addition to his housing. experience, he's also young. In one of.
the only jobs in the federal. government where you kind of don't want. the person to be young. But hey, while. I'm sold, I think some other folks might. be wondering if this soon-to-be director. of national intelligence has any, um, you know, intelligence experience. >> Does he have any intelligence. experience? >> None that we know of, Wolf. >> But again, he has no, um, previous qualifications in. intelligence. >> No intel experience that we're aware of. or that is apparent from his resume.
>> Well, maybe that's just how savvy big BP. is at the art of national intelligence. His complete lack of skills, experience, and credentials to carry out this. vitally important job for our country is. exactly what he wants us rubes to. believe, when in reality he's been. national intelligencing. for decades. Checkmate, Bill. I mean, that must be. the case, right? Because what other. possible reason would there be for. Donald Trump to put him in such an. important job? >> But Bill Pulte is well known to.
President Trump as a real loyalist, somebody who is willing to take on the. aggressive fights politically that the. President wants. >> And what you've seen him doing is. leveraging this role that he's in at the. mortgage agency to try and go after some. of Trump's perceived enemies using. allegations of mortgage fraud to go. after. the New York Attorney General Letitia. James, the Fed Governor Lisa Cook. In. some ways that effort has not succeeded.
>> But it did, wasted valuable time, money, and vilified black women in the process, which in Trump land is referred to as a. hat trick. But before we rush to. judgment about Pulte's character, it's. worth noting that he does have a. philanthropic side. In 2023, he gave. $65,000 through a foundation that he. controlled to a charity that supports. the poor called One World Love, which is. pretty noble. Or would be if One World Love actually. existed. Yes, it turns out that those. funds appear to have gone to a Wyoming.
LLC tied to the Binall Law Group, which. represented Trump in various matters. including his effort to avoid paying. damages after the January 6th attack. So, Bill Pulte definitely has one love, but the world ain't it. Now, some people might think that with a. World Cup headed to our shores this. summer and a war with Iran hopefully. heading to our shores never, that it. might be in America's best interest to. have our Director of National. Intelligence be someone other than the. inexperienced mortgage fraud guy who's.
been selected for his willingness to. target Trump's enemies. And those people. would be right. But we're here now. Pulte is hanging it up in housing and. headed over to the land of Intel. >> As acting DNI, he will oversee the. nation's 18 intelligence agencies while. also keeping his current role as a. housing official. >> Seriously? Another a official doing. multiple jobs? Right now, Scott Bessent. serves as Treasury Secretary and IRS. Commissioner. Russ Vought is the. director of OMB and head of the Consumer.
Financial Protection Bureau. And Marco. Rubio is the acting National Security. Advisor, the acting archivist for the. National Archives. Oh, and also. Secretary of state. My god, if. our government has money for ballrooms, reflecting pools, and Qatari jet. refurbishments, surely we can find some. cash to pay the salaries for positions. WE DESPERATELY NEED. WHY is this the one. place that we're cutting corners? Trump. is treating our government like it's a. scrappy soap opera trying to stay under. budget. Oh, we don't need to pay a.
second actor to play Ricardo's brother. Just slap a mustache on the one that. we've got. Now, I know that I'm a bit biased here, so to be fair, let's hear from Trump's. party on why Mr. Pulty is the perfect. choice for this gig. >> I'll defer to the chairman on that. Um. we was made aware of made aware of that. appointment this morning. >> Pulty Pulty's who? >> I have no observations on the matter. >> Wow. I'd say on a scale from 1 to 10, Republicans aren't even willing to. acknowledge there's a scale. Anyone else. want to take a swing?
>> Can you respond to any of the criticism. from Republicans on President Trump's. decision to tap Bill Pulty, who has no. known intelligence experience, as acting. DNI? >> Well, I think Bill is a a great guy. I. know him socially. I've not worked with. him in his current job and but I chose I. do trust the president's judgment. Um he. is a very sharp. quick and quick study of people, their. emotional with abilities, and their. ability to to persevere in the in the.
face of hardship. >> Such a quick study of people. I mean, Trump's studying is at such a breakneck. pace, so lightning quick, it almost. feels like he's not studying at all. Is. there a single member of this. administration who can give a cogent. answer to the simple question, Bill. Pulty, what the. >> Uh Bill is a terrific guy, very careful. person, uh very much in the details of things, trusted by the president, and and a. really really close friend to everybody. in the White House. He'll do a great. job. >> Holy Forget running ODNI, those.
qualities could barely get you swiped. right on Tinder. The reality is Donald. Trump isn't even bothering with the. false pretense anymore that his cabinet. picks are chosen for their competence. That's how much this president does not. give a He is willing to prioritize. loyalty over the security and safety of. our country. At the end of the day, we. are the ones who suffer. Trump has. essentially appointed a pilot who has. never flown to fly a plane that all of. us are on. And by the way, Bill Polti is.
as qualified for that job as he is to be. director of national intelligence. It is easy to forget what a massive. appointment this is given our current. environment where the importance of. certain positions have been diminished. under this administration. You know, like the fact that our head of Health. and Human Services has never been an. animal he didn't want to grill. The fact. that we have a podcaster turned FBI. director whose top priority is pounding. beers with the boys. And the fact that. we have a reality star turned. Transportation Secretary who recently. turned himself back into a reality star.
>> So, gas up the car, pack up the kids, get behind the wheel, and get out and. see America. We did it! >> You sure did do it. And by it, I mean. took a family vacation while working. that was all paid for by companies that. your department is supposed to regulate. Way to go. Bill Polti will now be Trump's top. intelligence advisor. He will have. access to mountains of classified data, and most importantly, he'll now be in. charge of overseeing operations for 18.
Oops. Sorry. Anytime you say the number 18, an. angry Matt Gaetz appears. Overseeing a. bunch of intelligence agencies including. the NSA and the CIA. This is a position. that demands experience, but the only. resume item Donald Trump cares about is. the one that mentions your complete. fealty to him and your willingness to. continue his retribution campaign. against his enemies. If Republicans in. Congress were even remotely close to. being the patriots they purport to be, they would rebuke this president's pick. out of concern for the safety and.
security of this country they claim to. hold so dear. But instead, I have a. feeling we'll be hearing a lot more of I. have no observations on the matter. Why. am I not surprised? Before you go, I'm very excited to. announce that I've written a new book. titled The Day After: How to wield power. in a post-Trump world. The book explores. what is, in my opinion, the single most. important theme that we're dealing with. in politics today and moving forward, power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to.
wield it. This book explains how we got. here and more importantly, how we should. finally wield power if we're fortunate. enough to get it back. It is the. blueprint for progressives who want to. do far more than just restore the status. quo.
