REVOLT: Republican airs ad ATTACKING Trump

If you want to see what absolute panic. looks like seven weeks out from. midterms, here's an ad that a Republican. member of Congress just cut against. Donald Trump. >> Mr. President, some of your immigration. enforcement efforts have gone too far. In July, 50% of the 50,000 people that. were detained had no criminal record. Be. careful what your advisers are telling. you about immigration policies. The same. Hispanics who help you get to the White. House in 2024 feel betrayed today. You. can be for immigration what Lincoln was. for slavery and Reagan was for.

communism. I'm not talking about giving. them amnesty. I'm talking about giving. them a dignified life in this promised. land. And only you can do that. So, let's not bury the lead here. She wants. you to think that she is some. independent voice willing to buck the. party, right? And uh I guess we're just. supposed to pretend that this is some. act of political courage from a woman. who spent her entire time in Congress. being one of the most reliable votes. this administration has ever had. Because here's the thing Salazar doesn't. mention in her ad. She is one of the.

people who paid for the exact. enforcement machine that she is now. wagging a finger at. Just last year, she. voted yes on Trump's One Big Beautiful. Bill. That's the same bill that handed. ICE a jaw-dropping $75 billion in new. funding, nearly tripling the AY's entire. budget and making it by a mile the. highest funded law enforcement agency in. the entire federal government. 45. billion of that went specifically toward. expanding ISIS detention facility uh to. over a 100,000 beds. Another $30 billion. went directly toward hiring the very.

agents now carrying out the raids and. arrests that she's suddenly so horrified. of. She didn't just fail to stop this. She voted to bankroll it at levels that. Congress had never approved before. And. it's not like this was some one-off vote. buried in a mustpass omnibus that she. didn't have a choice on. This is a woman. who has kept her missed vote percentage. low cycle after cycle, meaning she shows. up and votes with her party reliably. Trump himself gave her his quote. complete and total endorsement for. re-election just months ago, praising. her specifically for helping keep our.

border secure and stopping migrant. crime. Those are Trump's words about her. on the record. When Marjorie Taylor. Green attacked her specifically because. Salazar was supposedly too soft on. immigration, Salazar didn't distance. herself from Trump's border agenda to. defend the criticism. She doubled down. She thanked Trump directly and listed. border security as one of her core. priorities. In fact, here she is. defending all of this on air. >> I'm asking about the potential. deportation of hundreds of thousands of. people from your community. the the.

deportation is going to be among those. criminals who are the gang members, the. gutaways, the trenda. I am sure,000. undocumented in your community. Is that. what you're saying? >> That I am sure that we're not that the. Trump administration is not going to be. targeting those people who have been. here for more than 5 years that have. American kids, that don't have criminal. records, that have been working in the. economy and paying taxes. I am sure that. they're going to hone in on the. criminals who arrived less than four.

years ago because I wrote the dignity. act and I am the first one who. understands that you have to give some. type of dignity to those who have been. here for more than 5 years. People who. have roots in the country, not people. who are coming to commit crimes. >> Quote, I am sure the Trump. administration is not going to be. targeting those people that don't have. criminal records. How did that one age? So what changed? Not her votes, not her. funding decisions, just the math. She is. in a dead even race against Elliot. Rodriguez in a district where Trump's.

approval has cratered and where ISIS's. summer arrest numbers hit record highs. 51,000 people taken into custody in. August alone, according to her campaign. cited statistics, with about half having. no criminal record. Salazar looked at. those numbers, looked at her own. reelection prospects, and decided that. the smart move here was to record an ad. scolding the very policy that she voted. to fund at unprecedented levels. That's. like watching a fire that you started. consume your house and then running. outside to complain about the smoke. And.

the numbers bear that out. For example, Maria Salazar's district went for Trump. by 14.7 points in 2024, but in 2020, that margin was just 0.2 points. And. this is a district composed of a. staggering 74% Hispanics. And Trump's. approval among that very population has. collapsed between 20 and 40 points. underwater. So if Trump falls below his. 2020 baseline, which again was just 0.2. points, which the numbers suggest he's. already doing, then suddenly he's not an.

asset. He is a liability in a district. like Salazar's. She can read numbers. She knows that. I spoke with Dan Feifer. about this exact point. Here's what he. had to say. Latino voters are are um. signaling a major shift to the left as. well. On the generic ballot, Democrats. have a 46 point advantage. Um with. voters under 30, that's a 35 point. advantage. Trump's approval among Latino. voters is negative 43 points. The. baseline in 2024 is that he won 46% of. Latinos uh in 2024. That's up from 32%.

in 2020. So, he was actually quite. popular. I believe he was for a. Republican the most the had the largest. vote share of of Latino voters. Now he's. sitting at -43% approval. So um what. what are the implications for that as we. head toward the toward this midterm. election cycle, especially with certain. maps that have been redrawn by. Republicans thinking that the Latino. coalition uh was from 2024 was going to.

be permanent. >> Yeah. This problem for probably is most. manifest in Texas where they did this. very aggressive redistricting trying to. lock in seats for their seats and put a. lot of Democrats at risk. And their b. their their bet was even if they didn't. get Trump-like numbers of Latinos, Latinos had moved towards Republicans, they have snapped back dramatically, particularly in Texas. We saw this in a. special election in Texas uh a few. months ago. It is like it's very. concerning for them and a bunch of. districts that they thought would be.

safe Republican districts particularly. along the Rio Grand Valley um now are. very competitive for Democrats and. possible pickups for Democrats. U so. yeah they they miscalculated and this. was they were Trump rented these voters. he didn't own them. Quote Trump rented. these voters he didn't own them and now. that they're leaving the very people who. empowered Trump are suddenly recognizing. that his relationship to them is an. anchor around their necks. And. ultimately, that's the whole story of. Maria Salazar. This was never about. conviction. It was never about the human.

cost of ripping families apart or due. process or the fact that half the people. ICE is detaining have no criminal record. at all. Because if any of that actually. mattered to her, she wouldn't have voted. to hand ICE a blank check three times. the size of its previous budget in the. first place. This is a woman who does. the math on which way the wind is. blowing and positions herself. accordingly. When Trump was an asset, she voted with him 90 plus% of the time, thanked him publicly for his. endorsement, and bragged about helping. stop migrant crime. But now that he's.

become toxic in her own backyard, she's. suddenly cutting ads with tough talk to. show how independent and judicious she. can be. I've seen better acting on Emily. in Paris. So, let's be crystal clear. What Salazar and any other Republicans. will do between now and November is not. political courage. It is being a weather. vein, shifting to wherever the winds. blow for maximum political benefit. And. the truly damning part here isn't even. that she did it. I get it. Politicians. move wherever the wind blows. That's not. new. It's that she's asking the very.

voters that she helped subject to a. triple deportation budget to now believe. that she was on their side all along. Utter contempt for the people who. trusted her to represent them.
