Republicans caught pulling INSANE EPSTEIN STUNT at hearing
It's under oath. You're speaking to. Congress. So, let's get into it. When. will you comply with the law and release. all of the files? >> Um as as I said to you when we spoke. before, um we have complied with the. law. We have released. >> There are 3 million more documents and. you know what you said to me? They're. all duplicative and they include another. guy named Epstein. >> No, I didn't. >> Nobody's buying. That's what you said. That's what you said. >> That's what you said. >> So, look. >> Reclaiming my time. >> Can I answer the question? >> I gave you the answer you gave me. >> Filing.
>> No, actually, it's my time, Mr. Chairman. I think those are the rules of. this committee. I told him the answer he gave me and now. in public he's trying to say something. else. Please stop the clock. Can I get that. time back? May I have 20 seconds back? Mr. Chairman, thank you. I very much. appreciate that. Mr. Blan-. >> want me to answer the question? >> Mr. Blan- as you know, I visited DOJ. three times for as much as 10 hours and. I'll be going back. Does the Epstein.
File Transparency Act say that the files. should be available to members of. Congress with a minder at DOJ where you. get you're in a secure room, you can't. write on any of the binders, you can. take your own notes. Is that what the. Transparency Act says? >> It doesn't require we allow you to come. to DOJ at all. We did that on our own. >> What does it say in terms of. transparency? It says that they should be made. publicly available. Am I. >> Am I correct? Publicly available. >> they were. >> Oh, let's talk about that. >> Okay.
>> Time of the gentlewoman has expired. >> I beg your pardon. And I I'd actually like to get 20. seconds back. How do I get cut off 2. minutes into this? >> 2 minutes and 10 seconds left. Time of the gentlewoman has expired. >> I beg your pardon, Mr. Chairman. >> No, that's not the. >> What rules are we operating under? Because he's under a little bit of heat. for not prosecuting anyone in these. monstrous crimes? I've been in the room. I have been there.
This is what we I had to do to. transcribe to show. what is true. What is true is that the. president has lied about being on. Epstein's Epstein's plane and the. unredacted files prove that. There's a. lot in here. I am I am shocked at this. There's also this set of files in the in. the file. This is investigation into the. potential co-conspirators of Jeffrey. Epstein. I almost used up all the blank ink in. the hallway.
because it's all covered up. It's all. covered up. The American people are not stupid. They know that when members of Congress. have to go in and actually unredact to. try to find the truth for these victims, something is corrupt. Something is. corrosive. >> So, Todd Blanche was being asked about. the remaining 3 million Epstein files. that he and the DOJ refused to release. And just as Blanche was being held to. account for his own unwillingness to.
comply with the law, this Republican. chairman, Hal Rogers, decided to try and. swoop in and rescue him by pretending, straight-up playing make-believe, that. Representative Dean's time had expired. just 2 minutes into her questioning. I. mean, my god, are there no lengths the. Republican Party won't go to to protect. pedophiles? Seriously, is there anyone. in the GOP other than Thomas Massie, who. has voted out, who doesn't want to align. themselves with the child molesters over. the victims? Does the entire.
party seriously want their reputations. to be that they help prevent. accountability for Epstein's victims? Just a quick note here to say that if. you appreciate my work, which is and. always will be 100% free, a small ask is. if you could please pre-order my new. book The Day After, which explores how. Democrats must finally wield power if. they're fortunate enough to get it back. I'll also be on tour in DC, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and LA in July. You can grab tickets to the tour and you. can pre-order the book at the same link, which I'll put on the screen and in the. post description of this video. Again,
I'll never pay Wall a single piece of. content, but this is the one time that. I'll ask for some support for a book. that I think really meets this moment. Thanks so much. And frankly, almost. worse than running cover for pedophiles. is running cover for pedophiles and. still pretending that you're not. Take a. look at this clip and watch Todd Blanche. offer lip service for pre- presenting. himself as some white knight for. accountability when he is almost. unilaterally responsible for failing to. offer accountability. >> You were paid $10 million to.
to represent the president. You hang a. 30-ft banner of the president's menacing. face over the entrance to the Department. of Justice. You said that if you were terminated or. not move forward as Attorney General, you would say to the president, "I love. you, sir.". So, I have one question for you. Is your obligation to the victims and. survivors of Epstein's heinous crimes. and all his perpetrators, or is your. first obligation to the President of the. United States?
>> So, without a doubt, we want to bring justice to every. victim. >> you bring that justice? >> Can I please finish? >> Excuse me. >> Can I finish? >> Just in decades, when will you. >> Can I finish? >> When will you bring the justice? >> So, as I was saying, when you. >> you prosecute? And who will you. prosecute? >> Can I. >> Please allow the witness to. >> You told me in our conversation you. blamed the victims. >> victim, every victim of Mr. Epstein of. of of. >> that the victims didn't give good names. >> Let me Let me be crystal clear.
that this Department of Justice. will always. will always protect victims and will. always prosecute anybody we can, okay? Full stop, no ifs, ands, or buts, okay? What you are showing in a game of. showmanship are redactions because of. victims because that prosecution. memorandum talks about Excuse me? >> Perpetrators, too. >> How do you know that? Go ahead. >> Talk to the victims. >> Exactly. So, the the their victims their.
victims' names, which we are required to. redact, required by law to redact, which. we did. Okay? Look, I wrote a book. titled Shameless, and even I am floored. at how shameless Todd Blanche is. Not. only is Blanche not complying with the. Epstein files transparency act, not only. is he withholding actively 3 million. files, not only did he release the only. living known co-conspirator, Ghislaine. Maxwell, from prison to serve out her. time in Club Fed, but even Pam Bondi.
acknowledged Blanche's culpability here. It is clear. in just this this this part of the of. the interview. that she continues to push uh. all of the investigation and the blame. on acting AG Todd Blanche. She said, and I quote, "Acting AG Blanche was managing the. entire investigation." End quote. And what you're going to hear. in that interview and what she's saying. here in her words and remarks is that it.
was Todd Blanche, the current acting AG, that was leading the Epstein. investigation and quite frankly. all of the mistakes that we saw, the redactions, not protecting. survivors, she continues to push that back onto the. acting AG, Todd Blanche, who by the way. was Donald Trump's former personal. lawyer. >> And yet Todd Blanche doesn't care. because the reality is that he is. accountable not to the law or to the. Constitution or to the concept of. democracy and certainly not to.
Americans. He is accountable to one man, Donald Trump. That's why he's there, not. because he'll defend the law in. accordance with his oath, but because he. will will his client. Remember, Blanche. was Trump's personal criminal defense. attorney, and guess what? Blanche is. still Trump's personal criminal defense. attorney. He proves as much on a daily. basis through his actions. That is why. Blanche has not met with the victims. It's why he refuses to release the files. in accordance with the wishes of the. victims. And worst of all, it's why he.
keeps pretending that he does. But his performance isn't fooling. anyone. And in fact, it's simply putting. on full display the fact that there is. nothing. no amount of humiliation, no amount of. hypocrisy, no amount of shame that will. make him act differently. And frankly, if you're looking for. anyone else in the GOP to swoop in and. actually do the right thing, you'll be. looking forever. Just like Chairman. Rogers showed us, there is no act too. small to help Trump, Blanche, and the. pedophiles evade accountability. If that.
means shutting up Democratic lawmakers. who are rightfully questioning Blanche, then clearly that's a step that they are. more than happy to take. So, my message. to everyone watching, left, right, and. center, is that if you care at all about. holding pedophiles to account, which. seems like it should be the bare. minimum in the US government, there is. only one party that will do that. And. it's not the one currently engaging in a. systematic cover-up of exactly that. >> [music]. >> Before you go, I'm very excited to.
announce that I've written a new book. titled The Day After: How to Wield Power. in a Post-Trump World. The book explores. what is, in my opinion, the single most. important theme that we're dealing with. in politics today and moving forward, power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to. wield it. This book explains how we got. here and more importantly, how we should. finally wield power if we're fortunate. enough to get it back. It is the. blueprint for progressives who want to. do far more than just restore the status. quo. Please pre-order today by visiting. the link in the episode description or.
go to briantylercohen.com/book. You can grab yours from any of the major. retailers like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. or find an independent bookstore closest. to you. That's also listed on that. website. Thanks so much for supporting. independent media.
