Pam Bondi gets the news she FEARED MOST

I'm joined now by Congressman Dan. Goldman. Thanks so much for joining me. >> Oh, thanks for having me back. >> So, Congressman, there was an exchange. between you and the attorney general. during her testimony uh to the House. where you were trying to get access to. some information and ultimately she just. put her foot down and claimed that this. information was privileged even though. you had laid out the case as to why it's. not. Why do you presume that Pam Bondi. seems so hellbent on using all of these. legal levers, legitimate or otherwise, to prevent people from actually getting.

true transparency on what's in these. files? >> Yeah. I think what is very clear from my. short review of the files uh on Tuesday, the hearing yesterday, is that this. [clears throat] cover up is massive and. it is continuing. And the document I. asked her about um is what she claimed. to be under attorney client privilege. For any number of reasons, it is not. Um. but they have redacted it for the. public, but they let Congress see it.

And the information that is in the. redacted portion relates to Donald. Trump's statements, prior statements. about his relationship with Jeffrey. Epstein. So why would they come up with. a bogus privilege? Because they are. covering up for Donald Trump. And when. there are now two and a half or three. million more pages that they have. withheld, we how can we not believe that. those are littered with more.

incriminating evidence about Donald. Trump that they're trying to conceal? I. I have to ask from a political. perspective, recognizing that this fight. is not going to be over, that when Pam. Bondi erroneously claims that that. documents she has the ability to release. are somehow privileged, that this is. going to then be a fight that's going to. drag on even longer. What is the. political upside for prolonging a fight. that is killing this administration. right now? I mean, this is this is. something that the whole country opposes.

in terms of what they're doing. And so, look, this is still politics. What do. they gain from this? >> Right. I mean, the the House uh every. member of the House but one voted to. turn over the files, all of the files, not these uh half of the files or. redacted as they are. Uh the full Senate. voted for it. Um and the only thing I. can think is that whatever is in them. that they are hiding Yeah. must be so. much worse than the political blowback.

they're getting for the cover up. Uh, and that Donald Trump's not a. politically stupid person. And if he is. willing to take this political beating. on this issue that he is, it must be for. a really, really good reason, which in. his mind could only be something quite. more incriminating than what we've seen. to this point. What was your reaction to. the fact that every single Republican on. that committee except for Thomas Massie.

decided to use that time not to get to. the bottom of, you know, all of these. questions surrounding the Epstein files, but instead to try and deflect every. which way. I mean, to to me it it struck. me as, okay, now it's not just Trump and. the DOJ that are complicit in what is a. very obvious cover up. I mean, even. right-wing media, right-wing. commentators are all calling this a. cover up. But but now you've got all of. these Republican officials, these. Republican lawmakers and and senators.

who are who are participating in this. whole thing to deflect attention away. from the thing that everybody wants to. talk about. Yeah, this has been going on since they. made an about face 180 degree turn last. spring uh after Pam Bondi said that she. has the client list on her desk and they. are going to release all of the Epstein. files uh as soon as possible and they. started digging in in March to do all of. these redactions and then all of a. sudden it was radio silence and then we. get a two-page memo saying, "Well, uh.

everything we've turned over is all that. we're going to turn over. there's. nothing more to see here. And it was so. obvious that it was a cover up. Um, and. for a while the Republicans went along. with it until ultimately four of them. held the line and forced a discharge. petition vote and that's how it got. passed. And that's how now uh we are. supposed to get all of the files. But. they don't want to talk about this. They. don't want to undermine Donald Trump. They don't want to go against him.

because they're so afraid of him. and. they're have already abdicated all of. their own independent responsibility. But I got to tell you something else. So. yes, they they stayed away from the. Epstein files, which I'm sure was a. direction from Donald Trump, but they. stayed away from so much other egregious. stuff that Pam Bondi was doing. A number. of them were talking about the most. esoteric. uh small things from their own district. And they weren't talking about, for.

example, the fact that the day before. that Department of Justice and Pam Bondi. had tried to indict six Democratic. lawmakers for expressing their First. Amendment right, right, >> to in this case actually just repeat the. law. So there was nothing illegal about. it. But even if there was, it's uh. protected by the First Amendment. And. these are the same people who have gone. so crazy about this Arctic frost thing.

where the surve the phone record. subpoena by Jack Smith that he obtained. just to confirm the fact of. communication between members of. Congress and Rudy Giuliani who was. trying to overturn the 2020 election and. they're up in arms. The Senate included. a $500,000 penalty for anyone whose. records were taken. Uh Lindsey Graham. almost pushed us into a shutdown because. he insisted on it. And yet they say. nothing when there's an actual.

indictment that was presented to a grand. jury against members. And it's the. hypocrisy that uh I think is really. coming through that nobody believes. their view that uh the Department of. Justice was weaponized under Joe Biden. but is not under Donald Trump. And. that's why Pam Bondi has lost all. credibility. And that's why she doesn't. answer any of the questions is because. there is no good answer that she can. give that would be both truthful and.

consistent with Department of Justice. policy. >> Well, hold on. I don't want to say that. there is no good answer because uh one. one good answer obviously is that the. Dow is over 50,000 and that's perfectly. >> well that is true. >> perfectly reasonable rationale to not. talk about to not to not go after. pedophiles is that once the Dow hits. 50,000 famously uh that's that's when. all DOJ activities cease. Um, it's worth. asking here, e even even in the. right-wing media ecosystem, there are. more and more people who are kind of.

recognizing the the bill of goods that. they've been sold and they've been. calling out Pam Bondi. Um, you know, and. and she has become the face of this. thing. But I'm just curious what your. what your thoughts are as far as as far. as Pam Bondi's ultimate control over all. of this. Like is Pam Bondi the top of. the mountain when it comes to everything. that's happening with regard to Epstein? >> No. I think what is very clear and this. is true both with the Department of.

Justice and the Department of Homeland. Security. Steven Miller is directing. things from the White House. With the. Department of Justice, he's going. through Todd Blanch, the deputy attorney. general. With the Department of Homeland. Security, he's going through Corey. Luwendowski, who's the senior adviser to. Christy No. and Pam Bondi and Christy. Gnome uh are not the decision makers in. their own departments. They are there as. the public face. Um but they're not. actually making the decisions. They're. not doing the work. Um and it was clear.

that Pam Bondi was totally unprepared to. talk about many of the things that she. was asked about. Um and that is because. she's really not the one who is uh. running the department. And I think. that's why you saw Todd Blanch as the. one who was delivering the uh press. conference about the release of the. Epstein files and it was going on TV. about it. Um and that's exactly why the. Pam Bondi and Christy Gnome when they. testify before Congress are total train.

wrecks. They are disasters and the even. the MAGA base is starting to realize. that these people um are really beneath. the positions that they hold. They're. unqualified. They're incompetent and. it's really dangerous. >> And finally, let's finish off with this. Um, and we probably shouldn't have. buried the lead, but can you explain. where you are and why you're there right. now? >> Absolutely. I'm uh I'm coming to you. from the Stonewall Inn in the West. Village. Um, we just uh a number of us.

with a a large crowd. just re-raised the Pride flag. Donald. Trump earlier this week, pursuant to an. order, had required the pride flag at. the Stonewall National Monument to be. taken down. Now, this is the monument. This is the heart and center. This is. where the LGBTQ. movement began in the late 1960s. and Donald Trump's administration has. been attacking it both commemoration of.

the trans activists from there as now. just the symbol of LGBTQ pride, the flag. that was in the federal national. monument. And so they took it down and I. and a number of my uh colleagues in city. and state and federal government uh came. here this afternoon to re-ra flag. And. so we just finished that. So I popped. over across the street to the Stonewall. Inn, which many will know as the uh was.

where it all began uh especially in. 1969. And so that's uh that's where I'm. coming to you from. >> Well, I appreciate you highlighting that. and uh thank you for the time today. >> Thank you. >> [music].
