OOPS: Republicans accidentally SCREW TRUMP on Epstein files

If you want to know what the backfire of. the century looks like, Republicans just. did it to Trump. To set the stage here. just yesterday, you might remember Trump. saying this. >> every week. You know, when FC was alive, nobody cared about him. When he's dead, they care about him. But it's really a. Democrat problem. It's not a Republican. It's a Democrat problem. The only. problem Republicans have is that we have. to get back to number one running our. [clears throat] country. And then number. two, very importantly, letting the. public know what a great job we're. doing. quote, "It's really a Democrat.

problem. It's not a Republican one." So, that was the Clarion call, his little. message to the troops that actually the. Epstein files are going to be a. liability for the Democrats, not us. And. his underlings in the GOP heard the call. because they're in the process of. manifesting that into reality by. subpoenaing Bill and Hillary Clinton to. their testimony about their involvement. with Epstein. And the thought process. for Trump and Republicans is pretty. clear because he views politics through. the lens of cult behavior. He thinks. that hauling Bill and Hillary in front. of Congress to testify is going to.

result in everybody just descending into. the usual party affiliation D versus R. But here's the thing, the left is not a. cult. We do not care what letter you. have next to your name. If you've done. something wrong, you should be held. accountable. Period. That includes. former presidents and former first. ladies. It includes senators and members. of Congress. It includes everyone. I am. not here to excuse disgusting, corrupt, or illegal behavior just because. somebody is a Democrat. So, if Bill. Clinton did something wrong, Bill. Clinton should be held accountable. Full.

stop. But here's where the problem lies. for Trump. In the GOP's desperation to. turn this into a quote unquote Democrat. problem, what they're not considering is. that they are establishing a precedent. where the full power of the government. can be wielded to haul former presidents. and their wives who've had associations. with Jeffrey Epstein in front of. Congress. And guess what? Trump will one. day be a former president. And he's had. associations with Jeffrey Epstein. And. he will not be protected by the Office. of Legal Counsel guidance saying that a.

sitting president can't be indicted. And. remember, it is a crime to lie to. Congress. And it is a crime to defy a. congressional subpoena. And as long as. the next Democratic attorney general. doesn't subscribe to the Merrick Garland. approach to government, then Donald. Trump can be held accountable if he. refuses to show up or if he shows up and. lies about something that can be proven. false. And I'm not sure if you're. familiar with Donald Trump, but he tends. to lie a lot. And obviously, this idea. is gaining steam. >> President Trump's name is mentioned more. than a thousand times in these.

documents. Why not try to get more. information from him? Try to get him to. testify. Well, I've not Well, I've. noticed that uh every time you all do a. gaggle like this with President Trump, somebody asked him about Epstein. So, he's been answering questions about. Epste. >> Not at all. >> Well, has Bill Clinton ever answered any. questions on Epste or Hillary Clinton? So, this is going to be a new. opportunity and we'll go from there. >> Again, Comr does Trump's bidding by. deflecting to Bill and Hillary Clinton. And guess what? That's okay. They should. testify. We should get all of the facts, but we should get all of the facts,

which includes from people who aren't. Bill and Hillary Clinton. And there will. come a day when that clip of James Comr. is going to be played to justify. subpoenaing Donald Trump to come and. testify before a Democrat-led House. And. I get that hypocrisy and shamelessness. have never stopped Republicans before. But let's not forget that they are. setting the precedent and we should. intend to abide by it. In fact, that's. been echoed by congressional Democrats. According to NBC News, Representative. Jared Moscowitz, an oversight committee. member known for his frequent on camera. clashes with COMR, said the chairman is.

sealing his legacy and won't like what. comes next when the Democrats next take. control of the House and its committees. on oversight, banking, and judiciary. Quote, "The folks are going to run with. it everywhere. It will be crypto. It. will be their business. It will be all. the investments in the Middle East. It'll be on the Qatari plane. It's going. to be the latest thing with the UAE. It's going to be all of it." Moscow, it's added, all of it. They are giving a. license to these new chairmen in. January. That that will be Comr's. legacy. So when Don Jr. and Eric and. their children, not because I want this.

to happen because I don't I don't want. it to happen, but when they're all here, they can thank James Comr for that. Jamie Raskin agreed. According to NBC. News, quote, "It's clear that past. presidents are not off limits for. subpoenas. Clinton is a past president. who had rendered substantial good faith. compliance, but if there is a former. president who doesn't render substantial. good faith compliance, they're going to. be in trouble under this president. All. bets are off. So did Eugene Vinman. Quote, "Given the level of corruption. that we've seen from this. administration, the entire Trump family, and the president himself, I think we.

should anticipate that this president. will be called in after his term as. well." As did Zoe Lafrren, a member of. the now defunct January 6th committee, who gave a curt response when asked. Tuesday what the Comr Clinton standard. means for the House's future. Quote, "When is Trump coming?" She said, "I. mean, hell, even James Comer himself. conceded as much." Asked by NBC News on. Tuesday if he's setting a precedent that. Democrats could use to call Trump to. testify, Comr conceded it could set a. precedent. However, the chairman said. he's not interested in bringing the. president in now because he's been. answering questions about Epstein from.

the press. Again, will that stop. Republicans in the future from. undermining this new COMR president the. moment it becomes inconvenient for them? Absolutely not. We watched as Mitch. McConnell, for example, made a whole new. advise and consent rule for Merrick. Garland that immediately vanished for. Amy Coney Barrett. >> Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. appears to be flipping his own script, also known as flip-flopping, when it. comes to filling a Supreme Court vacancy. in an election year. >> A Supreme Court justice was to die next. year.

>> Uh, we'd fill it. >> She just died. [music]. Wow, >> I didn't know that. I just You're. telling me now for the first time. [music]. >> President Trump has announced Judge Amy. Coney Barrett as his nomination to the. Supreme Court. This kicks off an effort. to have Barrett confirmed quickly by the. Senate before election day. >> But Democrats have argued the pick. should come from the winner of the.

November 3rd election. >> Judge Ginsburg had a dying wish. that the next president choose. Justice Ginsburgg must be turning her. over in her grave up at heaven to see. that the person they chose seems to be. intent on undoing all the things that. Ginsburg did. Do you all remember when. Justice Scalia died in February of 2016. and the Republicans blocked our the. president's nomination, President. Obama's nomination to fill that vacancy.

for nearly a year by making up an. entirely new standard. that there'd be no confirmations of the. court during an election year. But then. when Justice Ginberg died, Gin Ginsburgg. died in 2020, Republicans rushed through. the president's Trump's nominee. At the. very same time votes are being cast in. election that Trump would lose. It's outrageous. >> But the lesson here is that we fight as.

hard, if not harder, than Republicans. have fought in the past. It's not us who. started this fight, but we should be. absolutely willing to finish it.
