OMG: INSANE Trump update on Kennedy Center

I didn't think that the Kennedy Center. saga could get any worse, any more. embarrassing, any more shameless at the. hands of this Trump administration, but. apparently it has. [laughter] I'm joined. now by the inddehaticable Norm Eisen. Norm, you have been litigating this case. and were previously successful at. preventing Donald Trump from [laughter]. having his name etched on. [clears throat] to the Kennedy Center, which I should remind everybody is a. living memorial to a deceased president, but Donald Trump somehow decided to. co-opt it for himself. >> [laughter]. >> That notwithstanding, can you explain. this latest move that he's trying at the.

Kennedy Center in his interminable. effort to plaster his name onto this. building? >> His name will never be on the Kennedy. Center again, Brian. What he's trying to. do now is. argue. that the Kennedy Center uh is in dire. straits and the only way to resuscitate. [clears throat]. it is if we put his name on the building.

because that's the only thing that will. motivate him not to close the Kennedy. Center. Now, here's everything that's. wrong with that logic. First of all, the. courts have established. federal law does not allow Donald. Trump's name to be on the building. Secondly, whatever financial troubles. the Kennedy Center is facing is because. when he put his name on the building, artists and audiences alike fled in. droves. Third, he's sitting on $250.

million that has been appropriated by. Congress to repair the Kennedy Center. Get on with it. You don't have to close. the Kennedy Center to do that. The money. is there and you can work in phases. You. close uh a piece, you create a walk. around, you leave the rest open. So, it. it's just silly. They've left the. Kennedy Center open uh previously to do.

repairs. They had a plan to do this. phased repair previously and that's what. they should go back to. But he's just. interested in getting his name on the. building. >> Norm, what is it that is driving him. right now? I mean, look, I I know it's. it's impossible to ask you to get inside. of his head, but this seems like an an. egregious action, even by his own. standards, that he would spend all of. this time, all of these resources, all.

of this energy trying to get his name. etched into this building. What is it. about the Kennedy Center that is just. driving this guy to the ends of the. earth? [clears throat]. [laughter]. you know, um. it would take somebody with a degree in. abnormal. psychology. and abnormal political science to. diagnose the twisted logic of Donald.

Trump. It is a ruinous. venture. uh to attempt to do this because it just. highlights his corruption. He's not only. attempting to steal vast sums from the. American people like this $1.776. million slush fund for his cronies and. insurrectionists and those associated. with him that we stopped. We stopped.

that. Also, he's trying to take an. entire priceless memorial. And the more. he insists on putting his name on it, the more the American people notice his. corruption. You can see very close. clearly in polls that a super majority. of the American people, more than. twothirds of the American people, including his own supporters who put him. there to drain the swamp, uh they didn't.

think it he he it meant fill the swamp. with cash for himself and his cronies. are sick of this. The people are sick of. his corruption, but he just keeps. doubling down. It's a suicide mission. Would that suggest by Trump's own logic. that when he dies and he has, you know, his sick offense erect some monument in. his name that uh that some other elected. official, some other president, some. other person could and should have their. names etched onto like would would you.

I. mean, are you in? >> They can have a reading room, the. litigation reading room that has all of. our over 300 legal cases and matters. fighting his attacks on the rule of law, on elections, and on uh and and uh on.

integrity. Um, no. Uh, Brian, if Congress passed. the law, as they did with the Kennedy. Center, saying, um, this penitentiary. shall be known as the Donald J. Trump. honorary. uh, federal prison. No, I would not. support an effort to put somebody else's. name on it. The law is clear. Now, I.

might not be the one uh chosen to. litigate that matter. Even if they gave. to me, I'm not sure I'd agree. But that. is not. um that is not legal. Uh uh and uh and. it's not legal here either. I mean, it's. so crazy. You have to the absurdity of. this administration. I'm sorry, but. every day I laugh and thank goodness for. Donald Trump's incompetence. I mean,

he's just illustrating my point to. everybody. The guy is a dictator dunce. >> I want to switch over to a different. topic. Some good news here. We just got. a 7-2 ruling from the Supreme Court uh. refusing to aced to Trump's demands. where he bans mailin ballots about 50. days before the election. um Democracy. Defenders Fund, your organization filed. a brief in support of of LUAC and the. other winning parties in this case. Can. I have your reaction first and foremost.

um as this news has just broken to the. to the ruling? Um indeed uh we did um. file in this case uh on behalf of LUAC. our client bipartisan brief I should. mention with uh campaign legal center. which was founded by the Republican FEC. commissioner former Trevor Potter. Um. and of course my board is roughly half. uh conservatives. Um, Brian, uh, the.

reaction is I went out on a limb and I. went all over. You can find me on. television and elsewhere. And my. friends, I love them. The hosts of some. of these shows were fighting it fighting. with me. How do you know you're going to. win in this case? And I told him because. this is a case that is so clear. that even the Roberts court will not be.

able to overturn it. We litigated other. cases in 2020 where similarly I was on. the other side of cases that went to the. Supreme Court. Those were also absurd. cases to attempt to throw the uh. election overboard by Donald Trump or. his allies. And we got similar 72. judgments at the Supreme Court. There. are seven justices who are unprepared to. let Donald Trump eliminate effectively.

eliminate mailin voting a few weeks. before the election. It's so absurd. Now, the uh case doesn't mean that we're done. with the fight. He's going to throw the. spaghetti at the wall again and again. But if you look at the accumulation of. decisions, the Missouri redistricting. case where similarly. uh in that case with no recorded. objections, the Supreme Court twice.

refused to reconsider an illegitimate. redistricting in Missouri. Uh the win. that we had on this is our second win on. a Trump effort to have an uh executive. order overturning an election. There was. another one. We won that. Uh. redistricting. We had we and our. partners and this was a big coalition. case led by the states and other. partners we supported. We got our own.

injunction earlier today, a separate. even broader injunction from a Trump. judge, Brian, against this mailin Trump. nonsense. Uh and uh redistricting we had. by our count with the coalition save 14. seats in Congress from being stolen. Uh. we've had those cases go up to the. Supreme Court. The one in California, five seats there. That was upheld by the. Supreme Court without a single noted.

disscent. Even Alo and Thomas didn't. indicate an objection. So, I think it's. very reassuring. Voters, we got your back. Voting is. going to be safe, free, and fair. Mail. and voting is going to be fine. Please, however you choose to vote, vote early. And by the way, I should add for folks. who are watching right now that I'm. going to put a link in the post. description of this video and right here. on the screen. You can check your voter. registration status. The Republicans.

have been screwing with elections, screwing with voter roles across the. country. So, it'll take one minute of. your time. Click the link, make sure. that you are registered to vote, have a. plan to vote, and then, as Norm said, you'll be able to do so freely and. fairly given the fact that we now have. this ruling. Now, because the Supreme. Court ruled this way, of course, Trump. is going to come out and say, you know. what, because the Supreme Court didn't. listen to me, now we can't have faith in. this election. Now, we can't have faith. in the results because these fraudulent. mail-in ballots are going to be used in. states across the country. And so it's.

kind of a damned if you do, damned if. you don't. Heads I win, tails you lose. because either Trump gets the ability to. just upend the election by restricting. mail-in ballots 5 minutes before the. election and that of course throws the. election into chaos or he doesn't get to. do that and then he points to the fact. that he lost in court as something uh. perpetuating this idea that that an. untrustworthy source of voting is going. to be used. And so either way he's going. to be complaining about this. Nobody. buys that baloney anymore. He's the boy.

who cried wolf. >> Yeah. >> And you know, the only one he's. discouraging. are his own voters. He's he's throwing. them into chaos. They're afraid to utilize. They. shouldn't be. Voting is safe, free, and. fair. And we protect the rights of all. voters here at Democracy Defenders. Action. But, you know, it's it's so.

foolish and incompetent. It's not quite. as bad as. um the Iran war where he managed to. achieve the ultimate Islamic hardliner. objective of seizing control of the. straight of Hormuz. He's the greatest. ally of the Islamic revolution. Brian, he achieved what Kanei could not. He. gave Iran control of the straight of war. moves. But it's the next stupidest.

mistake because Democratic voter. intensity is at is at an all-time high. Vote early, friends. Vote confidently. That he's trying to stop you because. he's afraid of your vote. the ultimate. act of defiance and resistance is to. cast that early ballot and let his. followers I hope they won't be I want to. have safe free and fair elections but. he's attacking the confidence of the the.

dwindling number of Americans who still. believe in him most do not most. unpopular president at this stage in his. presidency except for Nixon right before. he left and Trump is heading for those. lows. >> I should also note to to underscore your. point um with regard to Trump. undermining trust in elections, he did. the same thing during the Georgia Senate. runoff to the point where people were. afraid to cast their ballots and that. resulted in [laughter] uh John Oaf and.

Raphael Waro becoming US senators from. the state of Georgia at the same time. And so he has plenty of experience in. [clears throat] pushing his own voters. away from using a very uh uh easy, safe, and secure method of voting. But. >> I hope they'll do it. Mega, if any of you are watching, I know. there's some of you who hate watch. Brian. Your vote is safe also. But. unfortunately, we saw in Georgia the guy. is such a dulk, he ends up undermining.

his own base. And unfortunately, that's. what he's doing now. I'm sure he'll be. trashing the Supreme Court within within. minutes. >> Yeah.
