Obama issues LATE-NIGHT UPDATE on ALIENS after clip goes viral
We have a major update here. So, on. Saturday, I posted an almost hourlong. interview with President Barack Obama. One clip in particular made. international headlines and swept across. the internet like nothing I've posted. before. Are aliens real? >> Uh, they're real, but I haven't seen. them. And and and uh they're not being. kept in uh what is it? >> Area 51. >> Area 51. there there's no underground uh. facility unless there's this enormous. conspiracy and they they hid it from the.
president of the United States. >> What was the first question you wanted. answered when you became president? >> Um where are the aliens? >> Where are the [laughter] aliens? Now, the way that I understood that answer. was that he believes aliens are real, but that if he hasn't seen them, it's. because they're not here. Hence the. unless there's a big conspiracy that. even the president of the United States. doesn't know about. It felt clear to me. It felt clear to the other people in the. room, but apparently it was not clear to. others because dear God did the. criticism roll in. And so I decided to.
reach out to the president's team and. ask if he'd be willing to make a. clarification to his statement, which he. did. He posted on Instagram, quote, I. was trying to stick with the spirit of. the speed round, but since it's gotten. attention, let me clarify. Statistically, the universe is so vast. that the odds are good there's life out. there. But the distances between solar. systems are so great that the chances. we've been visited by aliens is low. And. I saw no evidence during my presidency. that extraterrestrials have made contact. with us really. In other words, his. clarification was exactly what I thought.
he meant and why I didn't continue with. the line of questioning. Should I have. asked the follow-up anyway to be crystal. clear? Absolutely. And frankly, that's. just something that I'm going to have to. live with. Um, and in fact, I won't lie, I've been a little bummed with the. commentary, the discourse surrounding. that issue. People saying that I dropped. the ball or committed a generational. fumble, which hurts. And again, something that I'm just going to have to. live with. But I think Obama's follow-up. at least should give the closure that. everybody was looking for. Unless, of. course, you view Obama's answer as.
evidence that they got to him, which I. you not is probably the most common. response to his post online. And look, am I surprised that conspiracy theories. reign supreme on the internet today? No. U sometimes they're harmless and even. fun, as is the case uh with the alien. stuff. And sometimes it manifests in. something far more sinister, as is the. case with Trump weaponizing the lie, for. example, that the 2020 election was. stolen from him. It gained traction. because conspiracy theories are the. currency of the internet. And because. when people want to believe something,
they'll figure out a way to believe it. Trump's lies gave them a neat little. excuse, a neat little justification to. do exactly that. And then of course. there's the situation with Epstein. Um, I'm not a big conspiracy theorist. In. fact, I'm probably the least. conspiratorial person you'll ever meet, which is why I think I too quickly. realize that Obama was joking about the. alien stuff instead of digging further. But here's my read as far as Epstein is. concerned. A lot of us on the left. viewed Epstein through the lens of.
QAnon. The basis was the same for both. that there is an elite cabal of. pedophiles who operate at the highest. levels of society and commit their. crimes with impunity. Things diverge. when it comes to pizza place basement. and drinking the blood of children and. whatnot. But all of that notwithstanding. the foundation is the same. And I will. say with some humility that I was wrong. in casting the entire idea off as fake. because it's not. There is in fact a. cabal of elites that have committed. these heinous crimes with impunity and. they do span the highest ranks of.
society and government. Um they may not. be doing it in pizza place basement but. they're certainly doing it and they're. doing it in places like Epstein's home. for example. All of which has taught me. to be a little bit more open-minded even. in scenarios that are so depraved that I. hope against hope that they're nothing. more than baseless conspiracy theories. In fact, I spoke with the foremost. experts on QAnon, the host of the QAnon. anonymous podcast about the state of. that movement. Here's what they had to. say. What is the state of the QAnon. movement right now? I presume that it.
probably peaked sometime around, you. know, 2016, 2017, uh, 2018, maybe around the time that. Marjorie Taylor Green was getting into. Congress. But but I'm just curious. whether whether you think that it's that. it's hit its peak or whether we're still. seeing this movement grow as more people. come online, more people get sucked into. rabbit holes and conspiracy theories and. you know, we we have obviously less. digital literacy with the with the. introduction of of more AI and and on.
and on. I feel like just pe people's. general sense of what's real and what's. not is kind of getting worse, not. better. Well, I mean, I think it kind of. just sort of got absorbed into the wider. kind of like right-wing media sphere. I. mean, we saw recently like with just uh. a few weeks ago that the um that the the. Department of Labor Twitter account was. tweeting out QAnon related slogans. And. so, uh, you know, it's like it's like. it's like either someone at the. Department of Labor social media team is.
very pilled or they understand that this. is still a base that's worth signaling. to, or they know how much it upsets. liberals or even your your never Trump. Republicans um, who hate QAnon more than. anything because it it, you know, to. them uh, it made the whole conservative. movement look like complete idiots, you. know. completely disconnected from. reality. Um, you know, so that's like.
the third option is that they know that. they know that people know where it's. coming from. They know that some. journalist is going to go, why is the. Department of Labor doing where we go, one, we go, you know, they know it's. going to cause a reaction. And that is. unfortunately um a a a part of politics. now is the is this like sort of like. antagonistic nature that I that I really. think you know began uh you know in 2016. with with Donald Trump. I mean look it's. rage bait and and it's it's the currency.
of the internet. I think that if they. have the opportunity to get a bunch of. libs mad so they can so they can uh you. know own the libs online then like. that's a perfectly acceptable uh thing. for them to do as far as they're. concerned. How many people do you think. we're talking about here? Because you're. talking about this contingent. And I. think for for normies like myself, like. I I cannot grasp a world where there are. more than like a handful of them in. some, you know, MySpace group or some. Facebook group circa like 2013. But like.
how roughly what are we talking about. here in terms of our numbers? >> It's pretty bad. Travis, what the last. numbers were really bad. >> I I I'll confess I I I haven't checked. on on the polling. Uh people haven't. done polling on QAnon belief in a couple. years, but like last last they checked. it was like it was in the neighborhood. of sometimes like four 5% which is you. know millions of Americans. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's it's it's is it's. it's. >> that's like that's like 15 or 15 to 17.
million people. >> Yes. That's right. Yeah. That's right. And I mean, >> so it also happens to be roughly the. same uh level of polling for belief in. that uh that there's a cabal of lizard. people who rule the world. There's lots. of people who believe some silly things. >> We're getting close to like the number. of people who think that Tylenol is is. is safe. You [laughter] know, like we're. going to have more people who believe in. QAnon than believe that like you can. take Tylenol and be okay. >> But like look how powerful QAnon is to a. certain degree. I mean, if you watch.
that original Marjorie Taylor Green. Facebook post video where she's going. over all the Q stuff, um, she she she's. not looking great, but her her steadfast. belief in QAnon propelled her to, you. know, some of the highest levels of. power one can achieve in America, only. now to have her kind of back away from. it. Now, she's a good an interesting. example of somebody who whose true. beliefs might put them at odds with the. president. Now, I would I I don't want.
to give Marjorie Taylor Green that kind. of credit. I think it's probably more. likely that she kind of just senses. where the wind is going and no and is an. opportunist and and doesn't actually. believe in anything and will go wherever. she feels is like, you know, most. advantageous for her. But uh you know. there is an example of a very public. person who has uh you know gone against. Donald Trump in the wake of how he's. handled the the Epstein files. Now if. you're interested in QAnon or conspiracy. theories that was a really eye-. openening conversation. So if you want.
to watch the full thing just check out. the interviews playlist on my YouTube. channel. And of course if you want to. watch the full interview with President. Obama that's on my channel as well. So. make sure to give it a watch and please. don't forget to subscribe. It's 100%. free but a great way to support my work. So, look, I guess my takeaways here are. this. First off, always ask follow-up. questions, even if it's pretty clear. that something is just a joke. Second. off, if you don't get the follow-up the. right right away, persistence pays off. Third, never underestimate the extent to.
which conspiracy theories have legs on. the internet in this year of our Lord, 2026. And fourth, maybe I should be a. little bit more open-minded when it. comes to aliens. I'm not saying that I'm. not a believer because like Obama, I. think that space is far too vast for. humans to be the only living things out. there. But my skepticism usually rules. the day. And I think that if the. response to that clip has shown me. anything, it's that maybe I should be a. little less skeptical and a little bit. more curious. In the meantime, please do.
make sure to check out the full. interview with President Obama. We spoke. about a huge range of topics from Trump. posting the ape video uh featuring him. to the Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime. show to running for third terms to. winning back young people to having. fighters in the Democratic party um and. everything in between. So come for the. aliens, stay for the rest. Before you go, if you enjoyed this. content and you want to see more and. support independent media, please. subscribe to this channel. The subscribe.
button will be right here on the screen. But second, the reality is that we are. now in a political environment where. this administration can lean on any of. the social media platforms to suppress. certain voices if they don't like. critical coverage. That means my. longevity here is in the hands of a few. tech billionaires who are already making. it clear that they are willing to cater. to this administration. To that end, signing up for my newsletter is a way. for me to reach you directly if that. ever becomes necessary. I'll put the. link right here on the screen as well. So, please sign up. It's free, but. there's also an option to do a paid. subscription if you'd like to support me.
