The cost of refurbishing DC's reflecting. pool is much more than Trump promised. And in other revelatory news, fire is. hot. This is just another day. It is not hyperbole to say that these. are trying times for America. Voting. maps getting redrawn on the daily, gas. prices skyrocketing, the ego-driven war. in Iran rages on. it is hard to express how unsurprising. this news is. It's kind of like finding. out Cash Patel is a keg in a shower or. that when Stephen Miller watches 12. Years a Slave, he roots for the wrong. team. The truth is, there is an easy way. to tell when Donald Trump is lying about. how much something is going to cost. Here's the tell. He uses his words to lie to us about how. much something is going to cost. Something he did just a few weeks ago. when he unveiled his grand plans to redo. the reflecting pool in our nation's. capital.

You know, when you slap some generic. funk music under Trump visiting that. construction project, you almost forget. that all he's doing is delaying their. work and forcing taxpayers to cough up. more cash so it can get finished on. time. And that was the White House's. explanation for why they handed out a. no-bid contract to a firm that has done. a bunch of work on Trump's properties.

before. Normally, a no-bid government. contract is only allowed to prevent. serious injury, financial or other, to. the government. But in this instance, Mr. Trump wanted a change for the. country's birthday party on July 4th. So, Trump will move heaven and earth for. our nation's birthday, but when someone. wishes for a hug on his birthday, he's. out of luck. So sad. And what would be an announcement from. this administration if it didn't include. some AI slop? Around the same time he. announced his repainting of America's. reflecting pool, the troller-in-chief.

posted this AI photo of himself with his. cabinet floating in the water. And my favorite part is how even when. Trump is trying to rile up his. opponents, he can't help but make J.D. Vance fatter than him. This president. will rig elections, wreck our economy, spend billions of taxpayer dollars. haphazardly bombing Iran, but I. guarantee you he will never post a real. photo with his shirt off. But the worst part about this man's. snake oil salesmanship is how much venom. he has for his detractors. >> So, it's a story in business. And here's.

Trump's. border wall wasn't paid for by Mexico, so he hunted around America's couch. cushions and found a cool 15 billion.

Trump acquired his free plane from Qatar. that turned out to cost a billion more. than free, but luckily, he found some. crumpled up bills in our pockets. And. then there's the president's ballroom. that was going to cost 200 million, then. 250, then 300, then 350, then 400. But, what does it really matter anyway. because after all, it's being funded by. private donors, right? >> Senate Republicans are requesting a. billion dollars to fund security. improvements for President Trump's White.

House Ballroom. >> I believe the correct term is insecurity. improvements. It's kind of a tell that. this man lacks confidence in his. presidential legacy when it comes to. policy, so instead, he keeps investing. billions in window dressing. Donald. Trump always manages to find the cash. for what he wants, yet always seems to. come up empty when it's something we. need. Healthcare? Can't afford it. Cancer research? Too costly. Food. assistance? Sorry, money's a little. tight right now. But, don't you dare.
