MUST-SEE: Canada’s prime minister HITS Trump over “Lake America” announcement
This morning Trump proved that the. United States has not yet reached the. floor in terms of how much we can. embarrass ourselves on the world stage, this time announcing that Lake Ontario. would be renamed Lake America. Why? Because we live in hell. Well, Canadian. Prime Minister Mark Carney took to. Twitter amid this news writing quote, "The name Lake Ontario comes from the. Wendat word Ontario, which appropriately. means that the lake is beautiful, the. lake is big. The name is more than 400. years old predating both the. Confederation of Canada and the. Declaration of Independence of the. United States of America. We know that.
America is changing, their trading. relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their. hydronyms. Canadians also know that. naming reality means calling it Lake. Ontario then, now, and always." Now, two. things are clear. One, Donald Trump does. not deserve nor will he understand the. nuance of what Mark Carney just wrote. This is like someone trying to explain. calculus, but the person you're. explaining it to is 3 years old and. can't read. Not for nothing, but the guy. whose biggest accomplishment in office.
is that he keeps changing the names of. bodies of water probably is not. interested in the etymology of Lake. Ontario. If Carney wants to appeal to. Trump, he's going to need way more. pictures and way fewer words. But, here's the second point. And I think. Carney's pretty even killed response. read this way. He knows that Trump has. nothing. If the best that Trump could do. is retaliate against Canada for this. trade war that by the way Trump himself. started by renaming a lake, which by the. way will revert back to Lake Ontario the.
second that Trump is out of office, then. I think Canada is in pretty good shape. Bear in mind, too, there are political. and electoral implications for this that. will impact Trump and Republicans, but. won't impact the Canadians. First of. all, Canada understands that midterms in. the US are approaching. So, they've. announced that they're going to. retaliate specifically against red. states. >> Up here, red is liberal, blue is. conservative, opposite down there. Just. to explain to the people, the red states. are Republican, blue are Democrat, but.
uh the red states we're going to hit. hard. >> Hi Premier Shawan Morris, CTV News. >> Hi Shawan. >> I just wanted to sort of. figure out your your thinking about how. you're thread this this needle with the. the president taking very specific aim. at you in deeply personal ways. >> Good. >> Well, also what why is that good? >> Well, good. He can You know something? I've been in this game a lot longer than. he has. I got a skin on me like an. alligator. And you think an insult from. him hurts me? Well, bring it on, buddy. I'm ready. Bring it on.
You know something? I've dealt with guys. like you my whole life. And guess what? You all become losers. because you're a loser. >> So, Trump tried to punch down on what he. thought would be a weak opponent to make. him feel strong. Only now his voters in. particular and his elected officials in. particular are going to be paying more. for their goods. And bear in mind, this. is a strategy that Canada has already. employed in the past. In fact, they. first used it back in January of 2025. The New York Times reported, "The. Canadian officials said their choice of. goods was meant to be precisely targeted.
and aimed at political impact. They. specifically want to focus on goods made. in Republican or swing states where the. pain of tariffs, like pressure on jobs. and the bottom line of local businesses, would affect Trump's allies. Canada's. government hopes that those allies, including governors or members of. Congress, would then pick up the phone. and call Mr. Trump intervening in favor. of de-escalation.". So now, it's not just a one-off. It is a. blueprint. Canadians have learned. exactly how to stick it to Trump, and. that is by targeting states where his. own voters are going to feel it the.
most. Which would be bad enough, but. given the national environment already. being dismal for Republicans, it's not. going to do them any favors. Need proof. of what I mean? >> You voted for him three times. Are you. disappointed in the. >> Very disappointed. Very disappointed. >> Why? >> Cuz the prices haven't gone down. Um. I don't know. I don't know. I just. I'm over it, I think. Over the Trump. thing. The Trump wagon, whatever you. call it. >> He promised no new foreign wars. We're. almost 6 months into the. >> war. We got Iran war, whatever's going.
on over there. >> How do you feel about that war? >> Uh. I think we need to bring the troops home. and just be done with it. Let them do. whatever they want to do and just be. done with it. Or blow them up, whichever. >> If. >> to be done. >> If you could give a. grade to the economy, A through F. Is it an A, is it a B, is it a C, is it. an F? What would you give it? >> D minus? >> Yeah. Don't ask me why. Uh just cuz, like you said, everything's. expensive. Gas is expensive. It's I got. put put gas in this morning to come.
here. It was $4.50 a gallon. versus two three bucks, you know, two. two something, I think, before all this, but. >> You said you're over the Trump thing. >> Mhm. >> Do you regret your vote for President. Trump? >> Yes. Yes, I would go back to uh. and rethink [music] some things over. >> The Republican Party has given us. nothing more than the middle finger. I have been a staunch Republican my. entire life. I'm done. Anyone that it was in office during this.
mess. that hasn't supported us, it's not going. to get my vote. And amazingly, we've only we've had two. Democrats, one absolute running for. Congress and one running for governor. that were willing to come out and listen. to us. >> Mhm. >> Not the Republicans, the Democrats. >> Now stick higher prices on $28 billion. worth of goods on top of that, and I. don't think the problem is going to get. any better for Republicans between now. and November. And look, this is a point. that I've made before, and I'll make it.
again. When Trump wants to do something, he does it. Remember when he decided. another body of water, the Gulf of. Mexico, is now called the Gulf of. America, and then dedicated all of his. resources to making that happen? Yeah, that shows that when Trump cares about. something, it gets done, which. underscores this point. The reason that. your health care is not being expanded. is simply because Trump doesn't care. The reason that your food assistance is. being cut is because Trump doesn't care. The reason your prices are still high is. because Trump doesn't care. The reason.
that we're paying billions for a war. overseas is because Trump doesn't care. The reason the Epstein co-conspirators. are still on the loose is because Trump. does not care. Again, when he wants to. do something. he doesn't let anything stand in his. way. Not the courts, not judges, not. prosecutors, not the Constitution, the. law, even other branches of government. So, the things that are not getting. fixed are staying broken not because. Trump can't, but because he won't. So, I. hope Republican voters out there are. paying attention because this right here.
is what unbridled Republican governance. looks like. Remember, there are no. Democrats in office to gum up the works. Republicans have full control, House, Senate, White House. And you're paying. more for everything. You are embroiled. in a new war. You're watching your. government protect pedophiles. And the. only thing that they are interested in, apparently, is heaping attention and. adulation onto the president to make him. feel more loved so that he can do stuff. like bolster his legacy by renaming. bodies of water. This party.
operates in service of one person and. it's none of you. Trump's mentality is. that the government is there to serve. him, not the other way around. So, if. you believe that your tax dollars should. be going into lining the pockets of a. multi-billionaire, then by all means. vote for Trump and Republicans. But, if. you want your tax dollars to go toward. making your life easier, your life more. affordable, then you might want to avoid. the GOP as much as humanly possible. >> [music]. >> Before you go, one quick request. It's.
become clear to me that this White House. is dead set on preventing me from. reaching any audience. Trump's decision. to put me as the first name on his. enemies list is a testament to that. But, it didn't quiet down then and I. won't do it now. So, please do me a. favor and subscribe to this channel. Hit. the notification bell to be alerted when.
