MAJOR UPDATE suddenly ROCKS Blanche confirmation | Another Day
Todd Blanche once again proves why he's. this president's perfect attorney. general because he'll do and say. whatever Trump wants. This is just. another day. >> [music]. >> As we speak, Todd Blanche is in the. throes of a heated confirmation process. to be our nation's next attorney. general. But just to give Americans. another piece of insight into how he. would operate, today Mr. Blanche chose. to weigh in on the recent spat between. Jeanine Pirro and Donald Trump. >> What message does it send though if. President Trump fires a US attorney. because she determined there was not.
sufficient evidence to charge four. people with a crime? >> Did he fire her? >> I mean, what what message would it send. I said if. >> Hypothetically, if the president chose. to fire a United States attorney, it. turns out he's allowed to do that um. because he's the president of the United. States. >> That's right. How could it be wrong for. Donald Trump to fire a US attorney for. their unwillingness to lie about the. merits of a case if he can do it? Isn't. the ability to do something what makes. it right? You know, like kicking your. shoes and socks off on a flight or. talking on a speakerphone on public.
transit or simply being a high-ranking. cabinet official and posting this. Gosh, I feel safer already. I mean, who'd have the balls to attack the. United States when our Secretary of. Defense has such shredded pecs? I bet he. crushed his protein shake after that. workout, too. Your move, Iran. But back. to Todd Blanche, he has clearly. established that he's willing to stand.
up by this president no matter what, but. that doesn't necessarily make him unfit. for the job, right? Because as Blanche. said today, he takes a hands-off. approach when it comes to dealing with. his US attorneys. >> Were you aware that US Attorney Pirro. was going to drop the charges. um against David Hern and if so, did you. approve of that decision? >> So, I'm. I'm not going to talk about internal. discussions. Um I don't I don't approve. or disapprove um. decisions that our US attorneys. >> See, while Blanche may be focused on. curtailing Americans' freedoms, he wants.
his attorneys to feel they can do their. job freely. And that's just the way he's. done things since day one. >> Right after he took over, Blanche and. his deputy, Emil Bove, uh, forced the. Southern District of New York, where. Blanche and Bove worked, to drop the. case against Eric Adams. Um, so, none of. what we're looking at here is normal. >> Hey, come on. What if being wildly. corrupt is just this administration's. kink? Do we really want to shame them. and say that they're not normal? Next.
thing you know, people will be saying. it's not normal to pay underage girls. for sex. Some might even call it. illegal. But while Donald Trump has. voiced his clear displeasure with. Jeanine Pirro and her repulsive. acknowledgement of facts, Todd Blanche. has taken a softer approach. >> Her prosecutors, her office, um, what they've done over the past year to. to transform this city into a place that. that that we can all now uh, walk around. in after sunset is is something that's. that's incredible.
>> Yeah, you all remember DC before Pirro. showed up, right? Masked men walking. around with guns refusing to identify. themselves, our reflecting pools flooded. with algae-infested waters, a White. House reduced to rubble. I'm sorry. That happened when? That's embarrassing. But while Todd Blanche's nomination. still hangs in the balance, his chances. are getting better and better by the. day. Recently picked up two yes votes. from GOP Senators John Cornyn and Thom. Tillis, one of which made his reasoning.
quite clear. >> The bottom line is nobody is clean here. And until we start recognizing this. behavior is bad, we're just going to. one-up it. Maybe it's a little bit more. intense in this administration than the. last one, but folks, we've got to end. this stuff. We do. I'm going to support Mr. Blanche's nomination, but what I hope I. see out of him is a bending of the curve. of this absurdity. >> Sure, I hope for that, too. You know, in. the same way that I hope that I win the. lottery next year and get cast as the.
next James Bond, but I'd file that under. pretty unlikely. And while Tillis and. Cornyn were somewhat critical of. Blanche's record before giving him their. thumbs up, other members of their party. see things in a totally different light. >> I'd like to say a few words about Mr. Blanche. The Justice Department has thrived under. his leadership. >> Huh. Uh, I'm not sure that I would. classify ignoring rape victims as one of. the characteristics of a thriving DOJ, but then again, maybe you and I have.
different definitions of what thriving. means. I mean, some might say that you, Mr. Grassley, are thriving. If you ask. me, you don't look a day over rotting. corpse. But now that Blanche's. nomination is moved out of the Judiciary. Committee and is staring down the. prospect of a full up or down vote on. the Senate floor, the big question is, are the numbers in his favor? >> Right now, Republicans are dealing with. one man down because Senator Mitch. McConnell remains in rehab. We don't. know when he's going to return. >> Remains in rehab? We don't know when.
he's going to return? Okay. Sure. Yes, in fact, I hear he's. carpooling back to Washington right now. with the entire crew of the Challenger. But, I'm sorry. You were telling us. about the math of it all? >> The current breakdown of the Senate is. 53 Republicans to 47 Democrats. But now, take Mitch McConnell out of that number, you have 52 Republicans, 47 Democrats. When you have Susan Collins flip to the. other side, that means there can just be. one other Republican who breaks from.
Republicans and votes with Democrats. against Todd Blanche and still confirm. Todd Blanche. If a third Republican. breaks ranks, Todd Blanche will not be. confirmed. >> So, it all comes down to two votes. Senators Bill Cassidy and and Murkowski. are the two members of the GOP who for. some reason still seem on the fence when. it comes to whether or not Todd Blanche. is fit for the job. Not that they're. outright saying that. >> Nothing on Todd Blanche? Have you decided how you're going to. vote? >> No comment.
>> Nope. >> How are you feeling now? >> Nope. No comment. >> No comment. >> Are you going to. >> Has anybody else say that to you? >> Are you still. >> Oh, yeah. I got that a lot. >> Are you still. >> Because that was the one thing we talked. about at lunch. >> Okay. >> Is it, you know, how how freeing it is. to say no comment. >> Oh, I bet it is freeing. In fact, I bet. it'd be even more freeing to release. yourself from this burden you feel to. appease dear leader. Right now, you. could be completely liberated strutting. the halls of Congress knowing that an. 80-year-old con man has absolutely no.
power over you anymore. Hell, for a. freeing feeling like that, you would. have to be doing yoga in a cold plunge. right after you called all of your exes. and told them everything you really. hated about them. The reality is when it comes to the. expectation that this White House or. this Justice Department will be truthful. with the American people and not in. engage in blatant cover-ups and. corruption, any remaining Republicans. that had any semblance of a spine left. have simply decided to throw up their. hands. You know, because they're so. powerless as senators, which is a lot.
like saying it's impossible to not chug. a beer frat house style when you're the. director of the FBI because that would. mean. not chugging a beer. And then what would. your boys in Delta Chi think of you? But I guess there's just no stopping. this kind of behavior from our AG. >> The principal deterrent to this sort of. misconduct is actually just professional. embarrassment. And one would hope the. moral sense that you should not really. go around ruining people's lives if you. know better. >> Yeah, I believe that ship has sailed. If.
Todd Blanche gave two shits about not. ruining lives or saving himself from. professional embarrassment, he probably. would have kept this to himself. >> If he chooses to nominate somebody else. and asks me to go do something else, I. will say thank you very much. I love. you, sir. >> Damn. I know it's not weed, but that. is so strong, I think I'm getting. contact embarrassment. Every single one. of these Republicans who ran for office. and supported Trump did so on the basis. of delivering for the American people. But what have they delivered besides. less access to health care, less.
affordable housing, less money for. cancer research? And now they are about. to give another rubber stamp to Todd. Blanche, who they know isn't right for. the job, simply because the GOP craves. power more than they crave serving the. American people. And while Republicans. continue to hope that the voters who put. them in office have become numb to their. level of weak deference, it's worth. remembering. >> None of what we're looking at here is. normal. >> It sure isn't. Before you go, one quick request. It's. become clear to me that this White House.
is dead set on preventing me from. reaching any audience. Trump's decision. to put me as the first name on his. enemies list is a testament to that. But. it didn't quiet down then, and I won't. do it now. So please do me a favor and. subscribe to this channel, hit the. notification bell to be alerted when I. post new content, and tune in when I. publish videos so that they get picked. up in the algorithm.
