I just HUMILIATED Trump on national TV over his Reflecting Pool scandal

Okay, Brian. Your thoughts on the. reflecting pool? >> This is all bad community theater. I. mean, let's be honest about what this. is. Donald Trump hired a company that. was not qualified to do this. They did a. shotty job, which we can all see now. The liner is coming up. And because he. has such a fragile ego, because he is so. delicate, as delicate as a Faberge egg, now Donald Trump has to pretend, play. make-believe that in fact this was the. work of elusive vandals. And even though. the reflecting pool is under 24/7.

surveillance, we're all sitting here and and watching. his administration officials and. right-wing acolytes all play. make-believe and pretend that yep, you're right, President Donald Trump, sir. It absolutely was these vandals. And so he's coming forward with these. stories that there was a 200-ft gash, and then a 250-ft gash, and then a. 350-ft gash that somebody did at some. point that nobody saw. A gash the length. of a football field, and he apparently. has video evidence from the the park.

department that he refuses to release, even though that irrefutable evidence. would immediately validate his story. Again, this is all just bad community. theater because Donald Trump has a. fragile ego, can never admit he's wrong, and this is what happens when you have. incompetent governance, whether it's. something as ridiculous as the. reflecting pool or as important as the. rest of the issues that he's failed at. governing with. >> That was me on CNN's The Story Is, hosted by Alex Michelson, pointing out. what I think the entire country,

including Trump by the way, already. knows, which is that Trump is so. obviously lying about the notion that. elusive vandals were responsible for. ripping the reflecting pool liner, which. miraculously gets 50 ft longer every. single day, and yet he opts to continue. perpetuating this lie because his ego is. just that fragile. The truth is, no one. came in and cut the liner. There were no. vandals. The individuals who have been. arrested will not be convicted of. anything because touching water or. floating pieces of unsealed liner is not.

a crime. The arrests are to give Trump a. talking point so he can pretend, literally, to play make-believe that. criminals are destroying the pool that. was already destroyed the moment he. decided to hire his unqualified pals. with a no bid contract and they botched. the job. And don't take my word for it. Take a look at one of these vandals and. decide for yourself whether you think. this is why Donald Trump's reflecting. pool looks like. >> Charlie.

count, nearly a dozen armed law. enforcement officers there for one. unarmed girl who committed the heinous. crime of touching water. Thank god, that's one less deprived criminal on the. streets. Now, of course, arresting or citing random civilians so. that Trump can point to those arrests as. a basis to claim that vandals are. destroying the reflecting pool lining is. so absurd and has caused such a massive. backlash, not to mention the Streisand.

effect, that Trump is now taking. desperate measures to make sure that no. other elusive vandals go on a similar. spree of destruction like that one. woman.

>> That's right. Trump is now erecting a. gate around the reflecting pool so that. no one else can go near it and. photograph the botched job. In fact, that is textbook Trump. Screw up some. national monument and when he's. inevitably forced to backtrack, just. erect some barrier so that no one can. even see it anymore.

Starting to notice a pattern? And look, I should also note that I get that this. is not particularly important, but it is. a pretty apt microcosm for the. incompetence of this government. That. when Trump should be focused on, oh, I. don't know, the things he campaigned on, like housing, rent, groceries,

inflation, energy, and the Epstein. files, he's instead busy erecting. monuments to himself and engaging in. vanity projects while simultaneously. offering kickbacks to his unqualified. friends. It is an incredible combination. of greed and grift, and guess what? We're the ones footing the bill for it. So, while Republicans may see all of. this negative coverage and whine that. Democrats are focused on the wrong. thing, that is the point. Democrats are. reacting to the exact thing Trump is.

focused on. Our focus on the botched. reflecting pool does not happen in a. vacuum. It is a response to a president. who outright refuses to deliver on his. campaign promises because the allure of. his vanity projects is just too great. And so, despite him saying this on the. campaign trail, >> A vote for Trump means your groceries. will be cheaper. So many people mention, I go in so many people mention. groceries. Your wages will rise, your. costs will fall, your job opportunities. will grow, and we're going to straighten.

it out. We're going to bring prices way. down, and we're going to get it done. fast. I'm going to cut fuel prices in. half within 12 months, so that because. the energy costs are so high. The cost. The biggest problem, and you can see. this even in polling, that people have. is everything's too expensive. >> Nowadays, you'd be hard-pressed to hear. him talk about anything other than this. >> One was the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting. Pool, which everybody knows. And I. looked at just one of the little pieces. that they did to finish. It's like a.

piece of glass, beautiful color, beautiful everything. >> We're going to be able to do it for. about a million eight, 1.8 million, and. it's going to take 1 week. >> I'm using swimming pool material. It's. going to be blue, beautiful blue. Everybody's looking at that reflecting. pool, they can't believe it. Reflects. We used a dark blue. And we picked a. color called American flag blue. >> So, if you're wondering why Democrats. are responding to this lunacy, it is. because it's all that Trump can bring. himself to focus on. If ever there was. an indictment of this president's.
