FIGHT: Republicans CLASH in INSANE moment at hearing

Even after your anger had cooled, you. were still bragging that if he'd only. been brave enough to stand up, you'd. have jumped over the desk and taught him. a lesson cuz that's how men should. settle their differences. Do you think. fighting as a resolution for political. differences a good example for the men. and women of ICE and Border Patrol? >> As you can notice over my shoulder here. is my good friend Sean O'Brien. Uh both of us have had conversations. Both of us have shaken hands and both of. us agreed we could have done things. different. Sean is someone that has become a close.

friend. We talk all the time. I've been on his podcast. We've talked. through this. That's how you handle your. differences, not like this, Chairman. >> I'm glad you guys are friends now and. that you've reconciled. But really it doesn't get to the real. point whether or not you think violence. is the way we settle things. The In the days after the fight, you. said and I quote, "Sometimes people just. need to be punched in the face.". Is that still your opinion that. political disputes can sometimes and. often only be resolved by violence?

>> No. I I don't I don't always agree with. that. I don't believe in political. violence. I've made that very clear. Um. but sometimes people do need. theoretically speaking that's Sir, I get. it. It's about character assassination. for you. That's the way this game is. played. I understand it. And you are. making this about you, which is fine, but that doesn't keep me as. >> It's character assassination when you. were the one lauding the assault. Who do. you think started that character. assassination? I'm just repeating what.

you have done in character. assassination. I'm repeating your. support for the assault. So that's. somehow something I started? >> No, sir. What I'm saying is you're. adding a lot to it. >> In the days after the fight, you did. many interviews in which you justified. the violence as historically justified. by precedents such as caning and. dueling. Is it today your opinion that the caning. of Charles Sumner was not only justified. but argues still for resolving our. political differences with violence.

>> What I was simply pointing out is some. of the rules that still apply to this. body. Uh for instance, uh dueling with two consenting adults is. still there. Uh I was pointing out what is still. legal. >> for 170 years. There's no precedent for legal dueling. Even then they fled the country. Do you. realize that the man that beat Charles. Sumner with a cane, he beat him till he. was unconscious. You know why no. senators intervened? Because his friend. had a gun on the other senators, and he. kept beating him and beating him until.

he crushed his skull. That's what you're. insinuating as the president of the. Senate, and that's what you live by. That is a very very dangerous sentiment. >> We might actually live in hell. Just a. general reminder for everyone, and. myself included, that when someone in. Trump's orbit gets ousted, they are. always always always replaced by someone. who is worse. That's not to say that. Kristi Noem didn't need to go. She she. did, but we should disabuse ourselves of.

the notion that anyone working in the. Trump administration, or vying to work. in the Trump administration, is ever. going to be, quote unquote, better. Now, as far as Mullen is concerned, I'm. sorry, but can we just take a moment to. discuss the insanity of Trump tapping. the one senator who tried to publicly. fight a witness at a Senate hearing to. take over an agency embroiled in scandal. because its agents can't stop murdering. American citizens in the streets. What's. next? Getting Ghislaine Maxwell to take.

over the Epstein investigation? Is there. no one that might be, oh, I don't know, mildly more appropriate for an out of. control ICE agency than this guy? >> Sir, I wish you was in the truck with me. when I was building my plumbing company. myself. And my wife was running the office. because I sure remember working pretty. hard and long hours. Marty seems like he's self-made. What a. clown. Fraud. Always has been. Always will be.

This is a hearing. >> Three words. Grown ass man. This. low-rent Conor McGregor is the United. States Senator. But hey, if you're. worried about getting these. trigger-happy ICE agents under control, I'm sure that you can totally rest easy. knowing that Mark Wayne Mullin is going. to bring the calm, cool demeanor to the. agency that we've needed. Now, Senator.

Paul was then asked if he would be. voting for Mullin as Department of. Homeland Security Secretary. Here's his. answer. >> Nobody really in the modern age that I. know of, other than Mark Wayne Mullin, is justifying political science. political violence as, "Oh, well, we. need a manly way to settle our. differences and so much people just need. to be punched in the mouth." That to me. is bizarre and I think makes him unfit. to lead federal law enforcement. >> So, can you vote for him? >> No. I mean, an apology might have had a.

chance, but he's had several chances. I. talked to him privately and he referred. to it that we had political differences. and today he said we should set aside. our political differences. Well, political differences would be I'm. against the refugee welfare program and. And told him he's for it. That's a. political difference. But if I wished. violence on his family, that wouldn't be. acceptable. And if he says the violence. that happened to me, where I had six. ribs broken, my lung damaged, part of my. lung removed, two pneumonias, if he. thinks that's justifiable, and he can.

readily understand it, he can completely. understand it, I think that makes him. unacceptable and unfit. >> With that said, despite Rand Paul's no. vote, Democrat John Fetterman has. already announced that he will vote in. favor of Mullin's nomination, meaning. that nomination will get out of. committee and go to the full floor for a. vote, where Republicans of course have a. majority in the Senate. Here's what. Mullin said about that. >> Senator Fetterman says he's going to. vote for you. Do you expect other. Democrats to vote for you? >> I I John already text me, and of course.

you guys know John and I are friends, too. And so I don't know. We're We're. going to try to earn everybody's vote. I. want people to understand, I'm not When. I go into this position, yes, I'm a. Republican, yes, I'm conservative, but. Department of Homeland Security is to. keep everybody, regardless if you. support me or if you don't support me, uh regardless of what your thoughts are. I'm here to enforce the policies that. Congress passed, and I right now I'm. part of it, but once I make that. transition, my focus is to keep the homeland secure. That's going to be my focus. And and. we're super excited about this.

opportunity. >> Which means it is all but certain that. Mullin does get confirmed as the next. DHS Secretary. But I want to be clear, whether it's Noem or Mullin or whoever. the next person in that position is, these people do not act independently of. Trump. The fish rots from the head. These people are carrying out the orders. of the president. Some will be clumsier. than others, as Kristi Noem put on full. display, but their actions are a. reflection of the leadership of this. government, which is to say, Trump.

Which is not to absolve them, because. remember, they have agency. They can. choose to act with integrity if they. wanted to. They don't, but they could. It's more to address the problem at its. root, and that is Donald Trump. He does. not choose people because they are. competent, he chooses them because they. are not, because they are morally. bankrupt, empty vessels that will. happily discard any semblance of. principle if it means carrying water or. currying favor with the god king. These. people are in government not to serve. their constituents, not to serve their.
