EXPLOSIVE Trump scandal leaves Republicans PANICKING | Another Day
Donald Trump perfects the art of the. steal by shaking down America for. billions. This is just another day. >> [music]. >> If you're one of those people looking. for even the slightest trace of good. news in the current apocalyptic. hellscape that is America, look no. further because our democracy-loving. president has decided to graciously drop. his $10 million lawsuit against the IRS. >> Sources familiar with the matter tell. ABC News the president is expected to. drop his legal challenge, but he still.
wants a $1.7 billion fund to compensate. allies who claim they were wrongfully. targeted by the Biden administration. That's right. We just got back $8. billion. I don't know about you, but I am. bursting with gratitude. Wait. Sorry, rage. I am bursting with. rage. The president of the United States. has decided to relent on shaking down. the IRS for a personal payout of 10. billion and instead is just doing it for. a partisan slush fund for a mere 2.
billion. So, if you're keeping track, Donald Trump has backed off from doing. one illegal thing and instead is. proposing to do another separate illegal. thing. And on top of that, seems to want. praise for it, which is a lot like. Jeffrey Dahmer going, "This time I only. ate your dog, so a thank you would be. nice.". But who would even be the recipients of. all this newfound cash? That money would. come from taxpayers and could benefit. nearly 1,600 people charged in. connection with the January 6th Capitol. riot, as well as some others associated. with Trump. I hate to say this, but I'm.
starting to feel like not storming the. Capitol is the worst financial decision. I've ever made. But as the New York. Times reports, the Justice Department is. modeling the program in part on a. landmark $760 million settlement fund. the Obama administration created to. compensate Native American farmers and. ranchers who were deprived access to. federal subsidies for decades, which now. that I think about it, feels only fair. I mean, if you're going to fund one. tribe, you have to fund every tribe, right? Now, I know a lot of people might.
see this as a sitting president simply. looting the American treasury to rewrite. history and back his supporters, but. personally, I think it's his roundabout. way of helping people who are struggling. to find work because of his, let's call. it, misguided policies. >> Today we learned that the private sector. is losing jobs, small business getting. hit really hard, negative number in. front of of ADP, and one of the reasons. that they cite is tariffs. >> One Detroit auto supplier says he's. going to have to lay off employees and. close a warehouse because of the.
president's tariffs. >> President Trump's trade war not. inspiring a jobs boom. In fact, it seems. to be doing the opposite. Ugh, ain't. that the worst when the exact opposite. happens? It's like that time I asked. Kash Patel to just look straight ahead. Now, thanks to Trump's generous efforts, if you're one of those many people. who've been laid off due to Trump's. trade war, there's now a high-paying job. waiting for you in Washington. And the. good news is, you only have to work for. one day. Now, sure, there are a few odds.
and ends that I'll have to tell you. about. As an employee, you have to be. willing to provide your own pepper. spray, your own zip ties, and your own. skull-cracking batons. But on the plus. side, I can confidently say that no. matter what you do, this is one of those. workplaces where your boss will always. have your back. And they were. unbelievable patriots and are. You see. the spirit just cheering they're making. they're cheering while they're doing. that, and they did that in prison. And it's a disgrace in my opinion. >> There were no guns. I heard they didn't.
have one gun. These were people that. actually love our country, so we thought. a pardon would be appropriate. >> I'd tell you, there was a beauty to it, and there was a love to it that I've. never seen before. Yes, a beauty and. love like he's never seen before. If. this day was any more beautiful, he. would have had to put his hands all over. it. But Trump's $1.7 billion slush fund. really puts to rest this notion that. he's a man that only cares about the. elite Epstein class. A local man. pardoned by President Donald Trump for.
his role in the January 6th Capitol riot. has been sentenced to life in prison for. child molestation. An Amhurst man. pardoned for his actions on January 6th, 2021 was sentenced to 2 years in prison. on child pornography charges. A Houston. man pardoned by President Donald Trump. for his involvement in the January 6th. insurrection has been arrested on a. child sex charge. Yes, he's a man who. courageously takes care of sexual. predators of all stripes, regardless of. financial status. Honestly, I don't see what the big deal.
is. Sure, it's a little uh that Donald. Trump can't find the money for Medicaid, food assistance, cancer research, or any. of the other domestic priorities that. candidate Trump specifically ran on, but. so what? So Trump got a little angry. after the leak of his tax returns, like. anyone would, and sued the IRS for $10. billion, like anyone would. But now he's chilled. out a bit and dropped his demands, even. awarding whatever settlement he gets to. his fellow patriots. It's not like that. money is going to him. The settlement. terms are expected to prohibit Trump.
from directly receiving payments related. to those three legal claims. However, entities associated with Trump are not. explicitly barred from filing additional. claims, sources said. Under the terms of. the potential settlement agreement, President Trump would have the authority. to remove members of the commission. running the fund without cause. The. commission would be under no obligation. to disclose its procedures or. decision-making process for awarding. more than a billion dollars, the sources. said. So, the man who signs all of his. posts DJT can't receive any of that. cash, but DJT Holdings is more than.
welcome to swim in the money bath. And. if anything seems remotely nefarious. about this entire setup, fear not, because there's also. absolutely zero oversight. I got to say, at a bare minimum, it's a good thing. that all this corruption isn't going on. at the exact same time as someone for. the administration is on an anti-fraud. crusade speaking tour. Fraud isn't just. about saving money. It's not just about. protecting taxpayers, it's about. protecting you. Wow, I haven't heard a.
more disingenuous statement since that. time Howard Lutnick describes how many. times he hung out with Epstein. A one. and absolutely done. Right. What is so batshit about all of this is. the staggering level of irony. Republicans spent years [snorts]. rallying against federal agencies being. weaponized for partisan purposes, even. going so far as to create. uh what was it again? The Select. Committee on the weaponization of the. federal government. That's right. Republicans in the House held hours and. hours of hearings to root out even the.
smallest inkling of lawfare because. according to its chairman, Jim Jordan, that was the true enemy of democracy. >> We don't want a political Justice. Department because you if you have a. political Justice Department, this great. country, the greatest country ever. is it's America's not America if you. have a Justice Department that's. political. I concur, which means it's. bad news for us, but also bad news for. an administration that's been an. inordinate amount of time slapping the. name America on everything. Guess we'll. change that to Gulf of TBD?
But what did today's Republicans, these. crusaders of democracy, have to say now. that the leader of their own party has. effectively codified weaponized. government and is looking to turn a. massive profit from it? Congressman, any. reaction to this $1.7 billion slush fund. Trump's proposing from the IRS for. pardoned fraudsters and January 6th. insurrectionists? I I haven't looked at. it. Haven't looked at it yet? Got it. Congressman, can I get you real quick on. this $1.7 billion slush fund Trump has. for January 6th insurrectionists and. pardoned fraudsters?
Huh, what a coincidence. They all signed. up for the exact same hypocrisy steps. aerobics class. And we're ducking now, ignoring now, we're ducking now, ignoring, and. fundraise, fundraise, fundraise. Donald. Trump and his Republican Party can claim. to be stalwarts of patriotism. They can. hold as many July 4th celebrations as. they want, but there is no parade big. enough, no pageantry flashy enough that. it could ever cover up how they really. feel about America. To them, our country.
is their piggy bank, one that they're. happy to loot to make themselves richer. while everyone else suffers. And if it. takes upending our democracy process, well, you know what they say. >> America is not America if you have a. Justice Department that's political. I. couldn't agree more. Before you go, I'm very excited to. announce that I've written a new book. titled The Day After: How to Wield Power. in a Post-Trump World. The book explores. what is, in my opinion, the single most.
important theme that we're dealing with. in politics today and moving forward, power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to. wield it. This book explains how we got. here and, more importantly, how we. should finally wield power if we're. fortunate enough to get it back. It is. the blueprint for progressives who want. to do far more than just restore the. status quo.
