Change, which is in the midst of a. monster run as the biggest-selling. political nonfiction book of 2026. And look, I obviously don't do the work. for the list, but at heart, I'm still an. English major. I went to a great.

business and engineering college and for. some reason decided to get an English. degree there. I love writing. I wrote. about politics when I wasn't getting. paid for it. I would continue writing. about politics if I wasn't getting paid. for it. So, to be able to do what I love. and to have people willing to read what. I have to say, that fortune is not lost on me. So, thank you. Um I'm going to be immodest here. My. first book, Shameless, two years ago, spoke about the importance of embracing. independent media. I was beating that. drum for years. Now, independent media.

has exploded on the left. Maybe I helped. get that message into the zeitgeist. Maybe it would have happened exactly as. I'd advocated regardless of my work. We'll never know. But now, this book, The Day After, demanded that Democrats. learn to fight and not allow blind. deference to institutions to get in the. way of progress. I really hope that my. book is the beginning of a movement on. the left to fight back, to beat. Republicans at their own game, and to. prioritize outcomes over process. If my. books are in any way prescient, then I. have a lot of optimism about what the.
