DISASTER: Trump forces LOYALTY PLEDGE at convention

So, heading into this new convention, Republicans told Politico that they were. hoping their midterm convention wasn't. quote only about Trump. Let's uh see how. that went. Felt like he was on top of. the world. nothing he likes more than a. bunch of graveling sick offense. genulecting at the altar of Trump. Only. there are a few problems here. First of. all, Republicans don't really have an. issue with diehard Trump voters. They. have an issue with everyone else. And. you know what's probably not going to. help with everyone else? A. loyalty pledge swearing allegiance to.

the god king. And don't take it from me. CNN's Harry Anon explained that point. perfectly. You know, if the idea is to. reach MAG of voters who may not be. showing up, is that a reasonable target? >> You know, this idea is so illconceived. You can just see it by the fact that. they're doing it when the football. season is starting. Who does that? My. god. And when you look at the numbers, no, that is not the part of the party in. which you actually need to motivate. You. can see this here. Extremely motivated. to vote in the midterm elections. 60% of.

Democrats are extremely motivated to. vote. 59% of that hardcore Trump base. MAGA Republicans. 59% of them the same. as the Dems. The ones who are not. motivated to vote are the non-MAGA. Republicans, the people who are far less. likely to approve of Donald Trump. The. people who think that Donald Trump's. Republican party probably this should be. the end of it. That's where the problem. is. So no, it is not in fact the. hardcore Republican base that needs that. motivation. it is other folks that this. convention simply put won't be reaching. because they'll probably be watching.

It's like, oh, let's focus in on Donald Trump. But. in fact, the people who are the least. motivated to vote are the folks who are. the most likely within the Republican. party to disapprove of Donald Trump. But. of course, being strategic would require. Trump to take a backseat and not make. himself the center of attention, which. I'm sure Trump of all people would be. more than happy to. I couldn't even get.

through that sentence. He definitely. wants to make it about himself. Of. course, he is going to make it another. Trump worship fest, even if doing so. negates the whole point of the midterm. convention. He needs to jin up. enthusiasm among people who aren't. already enthusiastic. And yet he isn't. willing to sacrifice even a single. moment, one minute of cultish adoration, even if it's for the benefit of his. entire party. Y'all voted for a cult. leader. This is how they act. And. there's another big problem here because.

the convention was indeed a Trump. worship fest. That means that the. closing message heading into midterms. was all about Trump, which isn't great. when the guy has a 35% approval rating. Think about the baggage that he's. carrying. He sent prices surging. He. launched a new war in the Middle East. He oversaw gas prices rise to record. highs. He's suppressing the Epstein. files. That's on him. And now he has. just reminded the voters that he is on. the ballot. And don't take my word for. it. Take his.

So, I'm asking you TO PRETEND THAT I'M. ON THE BALLOT. I'm on the ballot. >> I'm on the. Just one more time. >> Yep. Great idea. Put the least popular. president in modern American history. right on the ballot. What could possibly. go wrong? So look, frankly, this is. exactly what Republicans deserved. because remember, they asked for this.

At any point over the last decade, they. could have exercised their own autonomy. They could have stood up to Trump, but. they never did. They graveled at his. feet relentlessly, even as he launched a. trade war that sent cost surging as he. ignited a war he swore he would avoid. And as he hid the Epstein files that he. swore he would release. For years, they. have graveled at his feet and signaled. that he is God's gift to the world and. could do no wrong and had cart blanch to. do whatever he wanted. And now that he. is kryptonite for them, he will never.

realize it. And these Republicans only. have themselves to blame. And yet, shockingly, they continue to do it. I discovered. I discovered a self- aacing man. of superior intelligence. of empathy and compassion with an. encyclopedic grasp of the issues and. with in in molecular detail. and most of all a near reckless courage. that challenge vested interests and.

official orthodoxies. I found a man. who cared deeply about transparency in. government, who believed in protecting. free speech more than anything and the. entire United States Constitution. >> My guy is who Donald Trump endorses. >> So, it's up to him to tell you. >> That's exactly right. I'll do my own. research. uh if he told me to to uh back.

or support a liberal leftist, I'd have. to think twice. >> But I don't think. >> YOU'RE THAT LOYAL. >> I'M VERY lo loyal. I've been loyal since. he came down the escalator. People call. us groupies. They call us a cult. >> I don't care. So for those Republicans. who hope beyond hope that Trump wouldn't. make this convention all about himself, might I remind you that you made your. bed. Now it's time to lie in it.
