If you were wondering what negative. charisma looks like, here's J.D. Vance. offering up a master class in it as he. bombs on stage. >> Thank you, Mr. President, very much for. your leadership, but also for the the. kind words about me personally. I knew. exactly what I wanted to say, but then. after the president said that I was so. smart and that I didn't want to repeat. our congresswoman who froze for 20. seconds over in Munich. Now, I'm. tempted, sir, just to freeze for 20. seconds and just stare at the cameras. and maybe they'll say nice things about. me like they do about congresswoman.

Cortez. But I I have three very brief. messages. >> [whistles]. >> I mean, my god. I know that this is the. board of peace, but J.D. Vance is out. here doing his level best to murder any. semblance of comedy. I am sorry that I. ever said Greg Gutfeld wasn't funny. Now, what Vance is talking about is this. moment from AOC at the Munich Security. Conference just a few days back. Would. and should the US actually commit US. troops to defend Taiwan if China were to. move?

Um, you know, I think that uh. this is such a uh. you know, I I think that. this is a um. this is of course a uh a very. long-standing um. policy of the United States. uh and I think what we are hoping for is. that we want to make sure that we never. get to that point and we want to make. sure that we are moving in all of our.

economic research and our global. positions to avoid any such. confrontation and for that question to. even arise. Now, two points here, a. little bit in conflict with each other, but here's what my takeaway was. Was. that a good answer by AOC? No. If you're. going to go to the Munich Security. Conference, you have to be prepared for. these questions. If you're going to be a. contender for president of the United. States, which I think and hope AOC will. be, you have to be prepared for these. types of questions. With that said, where she eventually got.

was that we need diplomatic solutions. before blindly upending the global. order, and with that sentiment, I. wholeheartedly agree. And a purportedly. anti-war MAGA base also once used to. agree before their god king then decided. that he wants to be the king of the. world and start attacking sovereign. countries who also just so happen to be. our own NATO allies. All of which is a. point that I made on Piers Morgan's. show. >> And it's a bit scary amidst all the. people on the left floating the idea of. AOC being the next candidate in '28 and.

vying for more power. That's a little. scary to me. So, I don't really know. Does that mean that she would or she. wouldn't? I guess I don't have many. [clears throat] thoughts about that clip. other than. I don't know what the hell she was. saying. I I I think that's. >> I don't think she knows. I think that's. super unfair. I I think that's I think. that's super unfair. I I think what what. she's basically being asked here is if. is if the US should like engage in in in. what may be tantamount to a war with the. other biggest global superpower on. Earth, and like that's not an easy.

question. >> Yes, that's not an easy question to. answer, and I actually think Yeah, she. stammered in in the beginning, and God. knows that we've all stammered in the. beginning of of of difficult questions, but I think that her answer was that we. need to engage in diplomacy so that it. doesn't get to that point is a perfectly. acceptable answer, and frankly, a much. better answer than Donald Trump saying, "No, we do need to like annex Greenland. or bomb Cuba or or take over the Panama. Canal." I mean, what are we doing here? AOC gave a perfectly reasonable example, even if even if it wasn't as clean as we.

would have all hoped, a perfectly. reasonable response, a diplomatic. solution in the face of an. administration right now that is doing. the polar opposite and basically. ushering in a new era of imperialism. I. would 10 times out of 10 a thousand. times out of a thousand. uh defer to AOC's answer here as far as. international relations go than what we. are currently living through in this. very moment. So, I find it pretty rich. that J.D. Vance is attacking Alexandria. Ocasio-Cortez, a young member of.

Congress, for not having the perfect. answer on international relations, while. he himself is currently a part of an. administration whose foreign policy is. some errant synapse fires in Trump's. brain, and the GOP follows whatever. mindless dribble falls out of his face. like it's sacrosanct. And we have seen. the consequences, by the way, of that. exact foreign policy. Where Trump has. decided that he's an all-powerful ruler, and in response to that, our own allies. are running, not into our own arms, but. into those of China, the one country. that Trump purports to want to stop. And.

yet now, he's just strengthening them, making them more ascendant, while. plunging the United States further into. solitude, all because he thinks he's. going to spark a second era of. imperialism, something I spoke about. with Obama's Deputy National Security. Advisor Ben Rhodes here. I mean, does it. seem like this could be the the gateway. into a second round of imperialism by by. big, you know, autocratic countries, of. which I would include the United States. under under Trump's administration. It. feels like we're already there, because. it feels to me like Trump views the.

Western Hemisphere. like [clears throat] Putin views the. former Soviet Union, like China views, you know, its neighborhood, the South. China Sea and Taiwan. And he's. comfortable in the world in which these. big powers basically do whatever they. want. Um and there's no more respect for. sovereignty, there's no more respect for. any rules. Uh and you know, Unfortunately, that. that usually ends poorly, you know? Like, the reason we made all the rules. against big countries doing that is that. we went through two World Wars. Now, I'm.

not suggesting we're like on the. precipice of that yet, but it just you. this is a dynamic that you don't want to. play with here. And we'll see how they. lay if they can land the plane in. Venezuela. There there are a lot of. questions about whether the remnants of. the Maduro government will go along with. this, what the Chinese and Russians will. do in Venezuela, cuz they have a lot of. people there themselves or a lot of. influence there, you know, whether. there'll be more violence, what the US troops will be on the. ground. But in any case, you just don't want to. open up this Pandora's Box of kind of. returning to Imperial rule.

J. Trump, gets to feel important. This. is about coddling his ego, and the. consequences of that is that 350 million. Americans are in a world that is. decidedly less safe and decidedly less. safe for Americans. But hey, at least. Trump gets to feel important, and at the. end of the day, that's what really. matters. So look, maybe J.D. Vance. should spend a little less time on his. hack comedy routine and a little more. time actually listening to the merits of. what AOC said, which is that engaging in. foreign wars, especially, by the way,

those to benefit our oil companies, is. not only unpopular, but makes us less. safe. We should be in favor of defending. democracy, not upending the global. alliances that protect it. But then. again, that would take an administration. that actually wants the United States to. remain a democracy, and that's not what. we have with Donald Trump and J.D. Vance. So, I don't know what's worse here, the. White House's record on foreign affairs. or J.D. Vance's comedy portfolio, but. either way, Americans are making it. pretty clear that we're not interested. in any of it.
