CONTEMPT OF COURT: Todd Blanche hit with BOMBSHELL blow in Epstein case

We have got some bombshell news here. A. federal judge just put Attorney General. Todd Blanch on formal notice that he is. dangerously close to being held in. contempt of court over the Epstein. files. And the language that this judge. used in his own written opinion should. tell you everything you need to know. about just how blatant the DOJ's. stonewalling has become. According to. the Washington Sun, a federal judge said. Attorney General Todd Blanch isn't. sufficiently following the court's. orders in a case concerning Jeffrey. Epstein files and gave Blanch a deadline. to comply or face the possibility of.

contempt charges. Now, this all stems. from a lawsuit brought by Katie Fang, a. lawyer and fellow independent political. voice who sued specifically to force the. Justice Department to actually turn over. the Epstein documents. documents that. Congress has already said the public is. entitled to see under the Epstein Files. Transparency Act. And District Judge. EMTT Sullivan did not mince words about. the how the DOJ has been handling this. In his opinion, Sullivan wrote, "Blanch. did not respond substantively to. plaintiff's merits arguments. And in. granting her motion, the court largely.

adopted her proposed order, which Blanch. did not address in his opposition. In. other words, this is a federal judge. saying on the record that Blanch's own. justice department did not even bother. to respond to the arguments against. them. So, the judge adopt adopted the. plaintiff's version of the order almost. wholesale because the government simply. didn't show up with a real. counterargument. If you're wondering why. Blanch seems to be flailing at defending. himself, it is because there is not an. actual defense to be had. And this isn't.

even the first time that Sullivan's had. to warn this DOJ about its conduct in. this exact case. Back in August at an. earlier hearing, Sullivan told. government lawyers directly that. contempt proceedings could actually end. their legal careers. And he added a line. that I think should be plastered. everywhere given what we know about how. this administration has handled the. Epstein related transparency issues. Quote, "The public has a right to know. what the hell is going on." That is a. sitting federal judge saying the public. has a right to know what the hell is. going on with these files. When the.

judiciary itself is losing patience with. just how opaque this entire process has. become, Republicans lose their ability. to pretend that this is all just some. partisan food fight. Clearly, it's not. And while Judge Sullivan stopped short. of holding Blanch in contempt right now, he wrote that a civil contempt finding. at this juncture would be premature. He. did set a hard deadline, September 24th, meaning next week. By then, Blanch has. to actually produce the documents that. the court ordered or explain to the. court why the order to release them.

somehow isn't clear and unambiguous. Given that Sullivan's own opinion. already says says the DOJ did not. substantively engage with the legal. arguments against it the first time. around, it is hard to imagine what. compelling new argument suddenly. materializes in the next week. Now, let's be specific about what's actually. being withheld here. Sullivan ordered. Blanch to produce unreleased FBI. interview notes and foreign language. materials, materials that the DOJ tried. to argue it couldn't release because. reviewing them wasn't quote practiceable. for a first level reviewer. Now, the.

court flatly rejected that excuse. They. ruled that the documents are required. under the law that Congress already. passed. That's the Epstein Files. Transparency Act. On top of that, Blanch. has to actually prove that names his own. department redacted really do belong to. trafficking victims and not. co-conspirators because the DOJ's. justifications for those redactions, that releasing the names would violate. privacy laws, was also rejected by the. court. Here's Katie Fang discussing some. of this during a recent interview I had. with her. The judge is telling Blanch. that he has to come prepared to explain.

why he did not comply with another court. order where the judge told him to. produce unredacted documents so the. judge could look at them inside his. chambers but to also bring something. that proved what he was saying. Meaning. Blanch wants to keep certain redactions. claiming that they are in protection of. victims. I have no problem with that, Brian. But he also is asking me, the. judge, and the American people to. believe his word. And the judge has. said, as he did back in July on the 25th.

when he told Blanch, "When you come to. my chambers and you bring these. unredacted documents, you also have to. bring the documentation that. corroborates your representations.". Right? The judge in the order today. telling him, "You didn't abide by my. order. You didn't give that. documentation corroborating what you've. said, so you better come to court. prepared to explain why you didn't do. that." And I discussed this further with. Glenn Kersner. Here's what he had to. say. >> Judge Sullivan ordered that Todd needs. to provide to the court for private.

review in chambers called in camera. review the backing documentation. Because if if a name is redacted and the. name is Jane Smith and Todd Blanch says, "Oh, Judge Sullivan, just take my word. for it. Jane Smith is a victim." Judge. Sullivan said, "Todd, I'm not taking. your word for it. I need the damn. documentation because you have no. presumption of regularity. The judge. didn't say that, but that is the. inference if you read between the lines.

So, he didn't bring the the. documentation. Now, he's being hauled. into court due to that failure, that. defiance of the court order. Brian, why. is Todd Blanch willing to give. substantially similar and duplicative. documents over publicly when they have. nothing to do with Donald Trump, but. when they have everything to do with a. direct allegation by a victim against. Donald Trump, they pull out the. substantially similar and duplicative. excuse to not give over the good stuff,

the more complete stuff that in real. time was being recorded as the victim. was sharing her experiences with the FBI. and Judge EMTT Sullivan was h Sullivan. was having none of it. He said, "No, no, no, no. You will bring the damn. documents." Again, this is so. transparently in violation of the. Epstein Files uh Transparency Act. Judge. Sullivan said, "Listen, the law says, the federal law that's on the books says.

that you must publish in the Federal. Register for all to see the basis of any. redaction you made." Brian, do you know. Todd Blanch hasn't published a single. entry in the Federal Register of any of. the who knows how many hundreds or. thousands of redactions he has made? That's just blatantly in violation of. the federal law. and has been every day. since the deadline of December 19th. So, here's what this comes down to. This is.

a Justice Department that keeps getting. caught either withholding or quietly. scrubbing Epstein related material. Whether it's this ongoing document fight. or the previously reported deletion of. files that happen to include a photo of, oh, I don't know, Donald Trump. Congress. passed a law specifically requiring. transparency. The DOJ has now been told. in writing by a federal judge that it. failed to substantively defend its own. withholdings in court. And the person. ultimately responsible for compliance, Attorney General Todd Blanch, now has a.

hard deadline. And a judge who's already. warned once that the next step past that. deadline could be contempt proceedings. serious enough to end careers. His. words. So mark your calendar for. September 24th. Either the DOJ finally. starts complying with a law that. Congress already passed and Trump. already signed, or we get to watch what. happens when a sitting federal judge. decides that quote, "The public has a. right to know what the hell is going on. becomes an order that he's actually. willing to enforce.
