CONFESSION: Trump’s DOJ dealt BOMBSHELL BLOW

We have got a breaking new development. in the reflecting pool saga and it. completes a story that has been. unraveling for weeks now. The contractor. that Donald Trump hired to renovate the. Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool has now. confessed in writing that its own. screwup caused the damage. Not vandals, not delinquents, not some former Olympic. canoist with a box cutter, just a. botched, rushed insulation job. According to the New York Times, the. contractor that renovated the Lincoln. Memorial reflecting pool, has told the. Trump administration that errors in its.

own work and flaws in the repair plan, not vandalism, caused the pool's new. blue liner to peel and break loose, according to government documents. reviewed by the New York Times. President Trump has repeatedly blamed. vandals wielding knives or box cutters. for damage to the pool's American flag. blue liner, even after the Justice. Department dropped charges that it had. brought against people accused of. vandalizing the national landmark. But. the documents, which have not previously. been reported, make clear that the. contractor, Atlantic Industrial Codings, found problems in both the design and. the execution of the renovation. The.

documents include Atlantic's reports to. the government, as well as daily. progress updates from the National Park. Service over the past 2 months. Atlantic. blamed its own errors in a report dated. August 14th and then provided more. detail on September 2nd. The documents. show the Justice Department, which had. charged several people with vandalizing. the pool in early July, began moving to. dismiss the cases on July 31st. Because. of human oversight, workers in some. areas did not spray enough of the primer. that made the layers of the liner stick. together, Atlantic said in the.

documents. But the bigger problem, the. company said, was that the repair plan. laid out in the contract called for the. layers of liner to include two chemicals. that turned out to be incompatible. The. chemical on top reached a temperature. hotter than what the compound underneath. could withstand and the heat caused the. bottom layer to blister and come loose. The documents show the contractor said. it had not expected that outcome because. it was very uncommon to mix the two. products in that way. So, how did we end. up with the vandalism lie? Well, because. Donald Trump wanted all of this finished.

in time for the July 4th celebration. marking America's 250th birthday. So to. hit that deadline, the administration. bypassed the normal bidding process. entirely and handed Atlantic Industrial. Codings a $14.7 million no bid contract. No competition, no vetting, just a rush. job to make a photo op deadline. And. when that rush job predictably fell. apart with peeling liner, with algae. blooms, and with a pool that somehow. looked worse than before the renovation, well, the options were admit fault or.

blame elusive vandals. I'm sure it. wasn't difficult to imagine which one. Donald Trump would choose. And while. that decision seemed appropriately. political for everything that Trump. touches, it also had a real human cost. because it wasn't just rhetorical. fingerpointing here. It turned into an. actual federal prosecution, an. indictment against a guy named David. Hearn. He was a 67-year-old former. Olympic canoist who got charged with a. felony for supposedly vandalizing the. pool. And that happened despite the fact.

that internal DOJ documents obtained. through this process explicitly stated. that a recent visual inspection showed. damage throughout the reflecting pool, even in the middle of the pool, where a. vandal would not likely attempt to peel. the lining, and concluded it was. difficult to attribute the widespread. damage to vandalism, let alone establish. that fact beyond a reasonable doubt. The. government's own investigators looked at. the evidence and told prosecutors in. writing that their vandalism theory did. not hold up. And now we know exactly why. because the contractor itself has since.

confirmed months later that this was its. own installation failure baked in from. the start. So US attorney Janine Piro, Trump's handpicked prosecutor, took the. only option available to her once this. evidence surfaced. She dropped the. felony case. Now importantly, why did. she admit that in court? Out of. self-preservation. If she had knowingly. moved forward with the prosecution of a. man who the federal government knew was. innocent, the legal ramifications would. have been severe, which is not to say. that she isn't already going to face. legal ramifications for putting David.

Hearn through this process in the first. place. Here's Mark Elias making that. point. >> You know, Brian, uh, when I saw the back. and forth between the filings in the. Department of Justice and then the clips. you just showed, it reminds me of Rudy. Giuliani. Remember Rudy Giuliani? uh on. November 7th, 2020, he's in the parking. lot of the Four Seasons uh landscaping. uh business and he is saying how there's. massive fraud in Pennsylvania and they. prove massive fraud and then the next. thing you know he shows up in a.

courtroom and the judge is like, "Is. there fraud?" And he's like, "Um, no, your honor, we're not saying there's any. fraud." Right? Like in the end, that. didn't save Rudy Giuliani. Like in the. end, like the damage that has been done. here by Janine Piro, by anyone else who. is licensed to practice law, like. they're trying to mitigate it. It is. clear that whether it was Piro herself. or some underling in the office. Someone. on Friday was like, um, we need to try. to clean this up so that this doesn't. become a huge bar problem, a huge ethics.

problem, a huge, frankly, civil. liability problem if if Hearn decides to. sue. Um, but I'm not sure it's going to. work because the damage has been done. and you know the the the these claims. were made, these outrageous. extrajudicial statements were made, which by the way, federal prosecutors. are not supposed to make uh statements. uh outside of the courtroom. They're not. supposed to prejudice uh the jury or. prejudice the judicial system. So, I. think this is quite serious. I think. Piro is is not going to be able to.

escape the consequences of this. If in. fact, you know, she made these. statements without having that evidence, as it appears she did, if in fact they. had contrary evidence, which it now. appears they did. Um, now she's going to. say they didn't have the contrary. evidence till later. But still, the. question is, how the hell did this case. get indicted as uh with without having. the full uh file from the Department of. Interior, if that's what their argument. is, how did she make these extrajudicial.

statements? Like I said, prosecutors are. not supposed to make these extrajudicial. statements anyway. And one of the. reasons is because you smear people who. are presumed innocent, right? Every. every criminal defendant is presumed. innocent. And here you have a situation. where not only was the guy presumed. innocent, turns out he was actually. innocent. >> And in fact, I spoke with Norm Eisen who. represented David Hearn in this very. prosecution by the DOJ. Here's what he. said on the matter. On the initial idea. of the indictment even existing for Davy.

Hearn that came as the result of Janine. Piro bringing an indictment that was. based on false pretenses, bringing an. indictment that she herself claimed she. had quote tremendous evidence for that. we now know didn't exist. And so I I. know there's been some talk of. disbarment of fi filing a complaint with. the bar association for Janine Piro. What are next steps on that front? >> Uh well um right now Brian we're focused. on getting the case dismissed with. prejudice. Um all legal options are on.

the table. I think some of the important. ones are to demand an independent. investigation of what happened here. this miscarriage of justice. Uh our. friend Jamie Rascin, uh you know him well also champion of. justice. Uh he's called for an. independent investigation. Um and the. Senate has done the same. Senator White. House followed this case uh closely.

together with Senator Heinrich uh asking. for that. We need Office of Inspector. General Investigations. We need office. of professional responsibility review. and other legal remedies too. There's. nothing American law abores more than. targeting an innocent person. But for. now, um my focus is uh getting this. dismissal with prejudice and then we'll.

uh consider what other review uh and. steps are necessary. Everything's on the. table. quote, "Everything is on the. table. Not great for Janine Piro." And. it would normally be a warning to any. other attorney who comes after her that. this is what happens when you do Trump's. bidding. And so, how did Trump respond. to his own DOJ's evidence and his own. handpicked prosecutor doing the. responsible, albeit only thing that she. could do? He got furious. Not at the.

contractor who cut corners on a rushed. no bid deal. not at the situation that. nearly sent an innocent 67 year old man. to prison. He got furious at Janine. Piro. >> The judge was extremely unfriendly to. Janine. And frankly, I think she choked. because the judge was really vicious. Instead of going after the people that. did it, the judge went after her and. went after her department. And I guess. she choked. I don't know what the hell.

happened. >> Are you reconsidering her role? I don't. know what you you don't you're fake. news. Don't don't ever talk again. You're fake news. One of the one of the. worst in the business. Fortunately, nobody watches you. But something. happened. And that was followed by. reporting that he was considering. removing Piro from her post. According. to CNN, the president is furious with. Piro, one of the sources said, telling. CNN that he fumed about her all weekend. They added that based on his criticism. of her, they find it quote highly likely. she's removed from her job. The other. source, a senior administration.

official, said Trump was blindsided by. Piro's court filing. Quote, "The. president did not know beforehand that. she was going to do that." I mean, think. about this for a moment. The president. of the United States wanted to destroy. an innocent man's life, a former US. Olympian, because he wants to make a. point. And perhaps now you know how. Trump operates. He doesn't care who he. has to destroy so long as his personal. ego is protected. He did it with Kilar. Brego Garcia. His own government. conceded that his deportation was a. mistake, but Trump didn't care because. he wanted to make make an example out of.

him. And he's doing the same thing with. David Hearn. He wants to be right. And. so he would rather prosecute an innocent. person than ever admit he was wrong. Psycho behavior. So now with this new. contractor confession, the entire arc of. this story is complete. And you've got. the clearest illustration of how this. White House operates. You've got a. rushed no bid contract to hit a vanity. deadline, which produces shoddy work. The shoddy work gets blamed on invented. vandals rather than the administration's.

own decision-making. An innocent man. gets criminally charged to sustain that. narrative. The truth comes out anyway, first through the government's own. internal evidence, and now through the. contractor's own written confession. And. the person facing consequences isn't the. contractor who did bad work. It isn't. the White House officials who bypassed. normal bidding to rush this job. It's. not the president who ordered all of it. It is the prosecutor who told the truth. once the evidence made that lie. impossible to sustain. That's really the. through line of everything that we've.

learned about Trump's reflecting pool. obsession. It was never about the pool. This was about controlling the story, blaming everybody but himself, and. punishing the first person in his orbit. who dared let facts get in the way of. that narrative. The pool is still. drained, covered in algae. The. contractor is still repairing it anyway. And the only person who actually paid a. real price in all of this so far is a. 67-year-old Olympic canoist who spent. months as the fall guy for a paint job. that was broken before he ever laid a. hand on it.
