BRUTAL: Brian Tyler Cohen SCHOOLS Repubnlican ON AIR
You know, what you'll see, Disney, people actually returning to probably. watching ABC programming, regular. Americans. And Jimmy Kimmel no longer with a job. because nobody really wants to hear. the violent rhetoric that he spews. I. mean, it's hateful stuff that's come. from. >> Tyler, do you not do you not understand? I'm just trying to I'm just trying to. understand. Do you not do you not get. the comedy that he's that he's using? Like I just think if somebody has such a. poor understanding of of a joke, then. maybe you shouldn't be opining on on on.
comedy. I mean, do you not understand. the joke that Jimmy Kimmel was making? Do you really think that this was an. incitement to violence? >> Do you. I mean, it's very clear that this isn't. this isn't funny at at all at this. point. >> it's an incitement to violence? Do you. think when Kimmel makes a joke about. Trump being old that that's an. incitement to violence? >> I I don't think that's an. >> Is it Is it I'm just trying to. understand if it's an act. Are you doing. an act? >> I I think I think it's very clear that. there are many prominent people on the. left that want to see the president uh.
lose his life and they want they want to. see more people like Charlie lose their. life. And we know this because we saw. >> Come on. Tyler, Tyler, what what did you What did. you think when Charlie Donald Trump What. did you think when you believe that. people in power Tyler. >> your side get up and applaud and laugh. about his death. >> You think people. >> I actually I've seen I've seen firsthand. more leftists threaten people on my side. than any any person on your side has. ever received threats on our. >> But let's say What did you think What. did you think when when Donald Trump. tweeted that he was glad Robert Mueller.
was dead? What did you think when he. danced on the grave of Rob Reiner? I'm. just curious. >> I think there's a there's a clear. difference from people who are inciting. violence against their political enemies. and versus people glad that that they're. are happy that they don't have to deal. with somebody anymore. I think that's. the president that was the president. >> First of all, I think you're getting a. little bit of into a moral relativism. that we should not be in the business of. when we're judging state action. Now, if. you're wondering who out there really, truly believe that this joke from Jimmy.
Kimmel was an incitement to violence, >> our first lady Melania is here. Look at. Mel so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a. glow like an expectant widow. >> Apparently, the answer is this guy from. Turning Point. Now, for those who have. never heard um a joke before, I'm going. to break it down here. Kimmel is making. fun of the age gap between Donald Trump, who is 79, and Melania, who's 56. Generally, in the world, older people. die first, which would make Melania, you. guessed it, a widow. That's it. That's.
the joke. You might not think it's. funny, and that's fair, but if you think. it's an incitement to violence, you're a. And look, does he legitimately. think that this is an incitement to. violence? Of course not, which is why he. couldn't even bring himself to answer. the question outright when I asked it to. him on television. And that's because. this is all an act. It is a thin. pretense of outrage to justify what they. really want, which is to cancel and. silence anyone who disagrees with them, which I seem to remember being a bit of.
a sticking point for people on the. right, including the guy who founded the. very organization of my co-panelist in. that clip. >> The reason why cancel culture, whatever, you know, however you want to define it, is powerful is partially because we make. it so. Is partially because we allow the. other people to have a lot of power over. our lives. You don't have to pretend to. people around you you're something. you're not. >> In other words, it is clear that the. right was never actually against cancel. culture, they just didn't want it used. against them. They wanted to be able to.
be the only ones to do it. They want to. be the ones to wield the FCC against. comedians like Stephen Colbert and Jimmy. Kimmel, so they can usher in their. right-wing Utopia where we're forced to. turn to comedy icons like Greg Gutfeld. for those late-night laughs. And so now, we get to watch these people play. make-believe that they're mad about. something that they are decidedly not. mad about. Trump himself added on. writing, "Now Jimmy Kimmel, who is in no. way funny as attested to by his terrible. television ratings, made a statement on.
his show that is really shocking. He. showed a fake video of the First Lady. Melania and her son Barron like they. were actually sitting in his studio. listening to him speak, which they. weren't and never would be. He then. stated, 'Our First Lady Melania is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant. widow.' A day later a lunatic tried. entering the ballroom of the White House. correspondents center loaded up with a. shotgun, handgun, and many knives. He. was there for a very obvious and. sinister reason. I appreciate that so. many people are incensed by Kimmel's. despicable call to violence and normally.
would not be responsive to anything that. he said, but this is something far. beyond the pale. Jimmy Kimmel should. immediately be fired by Disney and ABC. Thank you for your attention to this. matter.". And he wasted no time in trying to make. sure that that happened because now the. FCC under Brendan Carr is opening a. review of ABC's broadcast license two. years early while simultaneously. pretending that it had nothing to do. with Donald Trump. >> I just want to drill down on the. question of did you get any did you get. any pressure from the White House to. take this action on Disney? Did you.
speak to President Trump did any of the. White House direct you to do this? And I. think one thing the critics have raised. is that in November when President Trump. what asked you and the commission to. revoke Disney licenses after a ABC. reporter asked a question in the Oval. Office of the Saudi Crown Prince that. the following day you announced you were. opening a new review of of the. agreements between. the local broadcast groups and the. national broadcasters. So, is there was. there any connection? Did you feel any.
pressure? Was the timing at all, you. know, as a result of White House. pressure or what happened on Saturday. night? >> No, this was a decision that we made. inside this building based on where we. were in the enforcement matter. There. was no pressure from the outside. There. was no suggestion from the outside. There was no call for agency action from. the outside. This was based on our. assessment of where we were with respect. to President Trump. Obviously, he has. every right, first amendment right, to. express his position. That's one of the. great things about President Trump, he's. very transparent. He has told publicly.
his position. He has every right to make. the decisions that he's made, to make. the public calls that he that he's made. Same with the First Lady, and there's a. lot of people out there that agree with. them. >> See, Trump had nothing to do with it. It. was all just a mere coincidence that the. president demanded Kimmel should face. consequences, and then 5 minutes later. the FCC gets involved. This is no more. cause and effect than if I burn my house. down and was subsequently banned from. playing with fire. Both just two. completely separate occurrences in which. one has zero impact on the other. The.
reality is that this is a long-standing. project to deplatform anyone who. disagrees with this president, including. Jimmy Kimmel. The White House, the FCC, the entire government has been looking. for any excuse to silence any comedian. who dares criticize dear leader, and. this attempt is no different. We have a. First Amendment right in this country, and that applies even if you're. targeting a powerful government. official, and even if that powerful. government official is playing. make-believe about the true meaning of a. joke. I write about the danger of. someone like FCC Chair Brendan Carr in. my upcoming book The Day After. Quote,
"This is how fascism works, through the. dull plotting bureaucrats who cozy up to. big business and then fall in love with. a demagogue. They are the ones who. destroy the foundations of democracy. because they know how to pull the levers. of power, and they do so willingly, enthusiastically, because they are drunk. on the power that they know they have no. legal right to wield." If you'd like to. support my work and my overall message, you can do so by pre-ordering a copy of. The Day After. I'm going to put the link. right here on the screen, in the post. description of this video, or in the.
comments of this video. I'd really. appreciate it. So, look, will ABC fold? I can't tell you that. But, I can say. that I wouldn't be surprised if yet. another legacy media outlet capitulates. to this president to curry financial. favor. To that end, if you would like to. support independent media that has zero. pressure points when it comes to the. federal government, all you have to do. is subscribe to this channel. And look, I get that Republicans are looking for. any excuse to cry foul and pretend to be. victims, but criticizing Trump is not. the same as inciting violence against. him. And frankly, Democrats who call.
Trump a fascist do so because he acts. like one. He undermines free and fair. elections, he weaponizes the government. against his political opponents, and he. silences dissenting voices. Case in. point, that is all fascist behavior. So, we can both condemn Trump's actions, which are clearly autocratic, and. condemn political violence, which is. abhorrent, no matter where and when it. happens. I get that Trump would love to. label all criticism of him as incitement. in an effort to chill all speech against. him, but we have a First Amendment right.
in this country that allows us to. criticize our government, and we should. absolutely use it. That's not dangerous. or treasonous, it is fundamentally. American. It is quite literally the. thing that separates us from illiberal. countries like Russia and China. When we. start self-censoring or firing comedians. for fear of offending the powerful, that's not freedom, that is the polar. opposite, which clearly is exactly why. this administration likes it. Before you go, I'm very excited to.
announce that I've written a new book. titled The Day After: How to Wield Power. in a Post-Trump World. The book explores. what is, in my opinion, the single most. important theme that we're dealing with. in politics today and moving forward, power. Specifically, how Republicans. abuse it and how Democrats refuse to. wield it. This book explains how we got. here, and more importantly, how we. should finally wield power if we're. lucky enough to get it back. It is the. blueprint for progressives who want to. do far more than just restore the status. quo. Please pre-order today by following. the link on this screen. You can grab.
yours from any of the major retailers. like Amazon and Barnes & Noble, or. scroll down on the page and get a copy. from an independent bookstore closest to. you. Thanks so much for supporting. independent media.
