BREAKING: Trump suffers HUGE LOSS in Minnesota
In a pretty unprecedented move, one. Republican candidate just revealed how. the dam is breaking, not just in. Minnesota for Republicans, but across. the country as ICE is in the process of. destroying the GOP's reputation. I. announced the end of my campaign. I have two primary reasons for this. decision. Number one, I cannot support the. national Republican stated retribution. on the citizens of our state, nor can I. count myself a member of a party that. would do so. I support the originally stated goals of.
Immigrations and Customs Enforcements. Operation Metro Surge in locating and. deporting the worst of the worst from. our state. And I've seen many examples. of ICE arresting non US citizens in. Minnesota convicted of serious crimes, including murder, rape, and child sexual. assault. No reasonable person should. want these people here, and I am glad. that they are gone. But Operation Metro Surge has expanded. far beyond its stated focus on true. public safety threats.
United States citizens, particularly. those of color, live in fear. United. States citizens are carrying papers to. prove their citizenship. That's wrong. ICE has authorized its agents to raid. homes using a civil warrant that need. only be signed by a border patrol agent. That's unconstitutional and it's wrong. Weaponizing criminal investigations. against political opponents is. unconstitutional. Regardless of who is.
in power, Republicans and Democrats. alike have engaged in this misconduct. And both must be held to the same. standard. They need to do better. And I have read about and I have spoken. to countless United States citizens. who have been detained in Minnesota due. to the color of their skin. I personally. have spoken to several law enforcement. officers, some Hispanic and some Asian, who have been pulled over by ICE on. pre-textual stops.
Driving while Hispanic is not a crime. Either is driving while Asian. At the end of the day, I have to look my. daughters in the eye and tell them I. believe I did what was right. And I am doing that today. Now, the second reason I'm ending my. campaign is that I am above all else a. pragmatist. And the reality is is that. the national Republicans have made it. nearly impossible for a Republican to. win a statewide election in Minnesota.
It is a simple fact. That was Republican. Chris Matt, who just today dropped out. of the race for Minnesota governor. because of what was happening with ICE. And of course, Mattal is only the latest. in a long, long line of Republicans and. right-wingers who've expressed. everything from uneasiness to outright. contempt for the way that ICE has. comported itself. From the NRA to Greg. Abbott to Maria Baromo to Ran Paul to. Kevin Stit and on and on. But note how. he said this. Now, the second reason I'm. ending my campaign is that I am above.
all else a pragmatist. And the reality. is is that the national Republicans have. made it nearly impossible for a. Republican to win a statewide election. in Minnesota. It is a simple fact. Think. about the advantage that Trump has. burned in just one year. In the leadup. to 2024, there was so much ink spilled. about how toxic the Democratic brand. was. The GOP had a massive leg up. Now, I'm not saying that Democrats have. solved their brand problems. Far from. it. And in fact, I've said a hundred. times that the way for Democrats to. actually fix their brand is to vote in.
new officials who are younger, more. dynamic, less establishment, more. populous, and better represent the. communities that they serve. And once. they do, that is how the brand will get. fixed. But what is true is that in just. one year, Trump has eviscerated their. advantage to the point where Republican. candidates can't even run as Republicans. in a state like Minnesota, which by the. way is not exactly Vermont. I spoke with. data journalist Elliot Morris about the. implications for Republicans on that. point. Here's what he had to say. >> It's another good reminder to not be so.
myelopic when we're evaluating the. electorate, to not be so shortsighted. Um because conditions really can change. pretty fast. So if you're a Democrat in. 2024, you don't want to be running to. the left of, you know, of Kla Harris. You're definitely not going to win. I. don't think any Democrat would have won. in 2024, but if if you were AOC, you're. definitely not winning in 2024. Now, Kla. Harris, if he reran the election, might. win an AOC figure, could have a pretty. good shot because of the where of where. the public has gone on these key issues. that Donald Trump doesn't have his.
inflation advantage anymore. He does not. have an adv an advantage on immigration. This whole 50 point swing in abolish is. is evidence of that. So, um if if you. are like trying to write electoral. strategies, it's just a good a really. good reminder not to overread shortterm. trends. Um, the thing I've been I've. been writing about uh I wrote I think. about this in July of 2025. Republicans. even a year ago were seen as focusing. too much on immigration. Um, like right. when Donald Trump was elected president,
his his policy that he uh I that people. say he won the election on, even as. early in his presidency as January 2025, people were saying h there's like too. much focus on this. So, um, there's also. just sort of a misreading component, I. think, going on when people are trying. to make strategic prescriptions for the. Democratic party. Um, and equally, yeah, like you don't want to be an extremist. on the Republican side either. Donald. Trump is showing what happens when you. are. >> And I should note that the full. interview with Elliot Morris is on my. channel. So, if you want to watch this.
and all other interviews, please make. sure to subscribe. I'm also right on the. cusp of 5 million YouTube subscribers. So, if you haven't yet subscribed, this. is a great time to do so. And finally, I. want to hone in on one more comment that. Chris Matt made. At the end of the day, I have to look my daughters in the eye. and tell them I believe I did what was. right. And I am doing that today. And I. think it's worth it to discuss this. point because that sense of humanity, of. basic humanity, has all but vanished. among administration officials on the.
right who view their job not as serving. their constituents or displaying some. basic modm of morality, but rather just. towing the line to protect dear leader. Donald Trump. That's it. And if that. means running defense for a secret. police force demanding papers from brown. people and executing American citizens. in the streets, then so be it. We have. seen Christy Gnome, JD Vance, Greg. Bavino, Todd Blanch, all do it because. their sole priority is making sure that. Donald Trump feels adequately filated. But at the end of the day, they're not.
blind. They know that what they're doing. is morally bankrupt, depraved, and evil. They are making the conscious decision. to act this way, and it'll come back. around. I asked the top Democrat on the. House Oversight Committee, Robert. Garcia, about the prospect for holding. these people to account once they're out. of office. Here's what he had to say. I. I've spent a lot of time thinking about. um the ways in which Trump kind of feels. emboldened and empowered uh to do, you. know, to commit these these criminal. acts with impunity and and I think that.
was in large part due to the fact that. there was no deterrent effect for him. back in 2024. I mean, he tried to. overturn a free and fair election. Merrick Garland didn't even touch him. for two years and only then did he dane. to appoint a special counsel, but so. much time had elapsed that he was able. to effectively run out the clock. And so. I understand the Democrats have to be. focused on on delivering, but I think. that there's also a lot of real damage. and danger in kind of advancing with an. agenda where we don't look to hold.
anybody to account for any of the. wrongdoing that they've committed. because then they feel emboldened to do. it again. That's what we're seeing right. now. It's playing out in real time. And. so, can you talk a little bit about the. accountability that these folks have to. shoulder so that in the event. Republicans win at some point in the. future, they don't proceed with the. abject lawlessness that we're seeing. right now because nothing bad ever. happens to them at the hands of feckless. Democrats? That's where the oversight. committee comes in. That's where a. strong attorney general that the next.
president will hopefully be a Democrat. will will put in place. Look, I've said. from day one that we cannot just move. on. We cannot just pretend that this. didn't happen. We can't just put. together this forward-looking agenda and. not actually then hold those that cause. harm accountable because we need to be. able to tell the next generation that. this period of time was led by a corrupt. administration and an administration. that harmed the American public that. should never happen again. And so. holding folks not just like not just the.
Donald Trump himself and the family that. is causing corruption across the world. but folks like Pam Bondi and Steven. Miller and Christine Gnome. These folks. have to be held accountable. They have. to be they have to be look to look at. the American public and the courts and. account for what they did. So that's why. the investigations and subpoenas and. holding folks in contempt and. impeachment are going to be really. critical in the months and certainly.
when we have the majority. >> And I think whereas Chris Matt read the. writing on the wall about what the. future holds for these Republicans, the. rest of them are perfectly content to. continue committing these crimes against. humanity. But what they should know is. that Democrats have learned their lesson. from the Merrick Garland era. We. understand the value of deterrence and. we won't make the same mistake again. These Republican officials are about to. learn that lesson firsthand. [music]. Before you go, if you enjoyed this.
