BOMBSHELL: MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT on Todd Blanche’s confirmation

We have got a pathetic, albeit. predictable, update as far as Todd. Blanche's nomination as permanent. attorney general is concerned. Here's. Bill Cassidy speaking on the Senate. floor. >> I first specifically addressed the. allegation that Mr. Blanche would be a. yes man for the president. He said that. any attorney to represent a client well. has to have tough conversations and. confront a client with difficult truths. That because of his previous. attorney-client relationship with. President Trump, Mr. Blanche would be. precisely the person to push back on. President Trump. But that ultimately, and here Barr echoed what I heard from.

Blanche, decisions are made by the. president. Mr. Blanche is not perfect, and he will. tell you this. But the choice is not. between perfection and Mr. Blanche. It. is between Mr. Blanche and another. acting attorney general who may not run. the department effectively under. President Trump, and who. indeed. may not be as good as Mr. Blanche. This puts at risk the progress made. fighting violent crime, human and drug.

trafficking, and fraud. And this does. not serve the American people well. This is not a referendum on President. Trump. It is a decision regarding Mr. Blanche in very specific circumstances. All considered, I will vote for Mr. Blanche. I'll be criticized for this vote. What's. new? But. the people of Louisiana.

Bill Cassidy's vote means that Todd. Blanche will have exactly the number of. votes necessary to pass, not a single. vote to spare. What luck. I guess when. someone like Susan Collins or Lisa. Murkowski announced their intention to.

vote against Blanche that they totally. definitely did it in accordance with. their conscience and it was definitely. not manufactured in conjunction with. Bill Cassidy or other Republicans to. give them political cover to avoid. non-popular vote. I'm sold. The reality is that when we see somebody. like Susan Collins make a big. announcement that she'll vote against. Todd Blanche, it isn't some courageous. stand. It was a manufactured decision to. make her seem courageous when in reality. it was the polar opposite. This is a senator in Susan Collins.

facing a brutal re-election fight in a. state that is trending against her party. casting a vote that cost her absolutely. nothing because the outcome was already. locked in before she opened her mouth. So she gets to go back to Maine and tell. voters, I stood up to Trump on his. Attorney General pick and Trump gets his. Attorney General anyway confirmed on. schedule with the exact same powers, exact same mandate, the exact same. settlement agreement fully intact behind. him. This is all the purest, most. distilled form of consequence-free. performance art that you could possibly.

conjure up. And Susan Collins has built. an entire 25-year career out of this. exact move. She'll vote no on Hegseth, he gets confirmed anyway, votes no on. Todd Blanche, gets confirmed anyway, and. yet she gets to cash in on the headlines. every single time as though it meant. something. If you needed any more proof. that Susan Collins is just cosplaying as. a maverick while in reality serving as. the most shameless and run-of-the-mill. MAGA sycophant you could find, this. should put that to rest. Which is a point by the way that The.

I think he cares about Thune, and I. think he wants Thune to not have to deal. with Trump and have some success as. majority leader. And he looks around and. he's like, "Okay, like Thune's got to be. able to show that he can get things. through." And I'm guessing Thune leaned. very heavily on him to say, "I need you.

to do this so that I can get Trump off. my back, and I can maintain my post, and. you don't want like a Rick Scott in. here, right?" And I think that was. probably more persuasive to Cassidy than. anything Trump would have said. Cassidy. made a point in in in the hearing that I. think is. you know, I I could see it a little bit, which is that, you know, Blanche is. going to be serving no matter what. But. here's my response to that. Like, if. Blanche is serving as an acting attorney. general versus a confirmed attorney. general, yeah, he's still serving, but. you're giving him the the stamp of. approval. >> Right. Bravo, Bill Cassidy. Bravo. In other words, Cassidy is living. through the consequences of his first. hack vote, learns absolutely nothing, and is just back for more.
