We begin tonight with President Trump's sudden. reversal when it comes to the Jeffrey Epstein files. It comes with the House set to. vote tomorrow. It appeared many Republicans were going to. join Democrats and voting to release the files. The President now calling on lawmakers to.

make the documents public. President Trump, who for some time had tried to convince. some Republicans not to support this. In fact, one member of Congress was brought into the. situation room in the White House, where the FBI director. and the attorney general were waiting to try to convince. her. It didn't work. The vote comes after the House obtained. thousands of documents from the Epstein estate last week. Including multiple emails with references to Donald Trump. Tonight survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's abuse delivering. new messages pleading with members of Congress to finally.

make this happen. And tonight President Trump is pressed. If the bill passes the House and. then the Senate, will he sign it? Mary Bruce leading us off from the White House. Tonight under intense pressure from. his own party, President Trump suddenly reversing course, telling House Republicans to vote yes on a measure to. release the FBI's files on sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. And saying if the Epstein bill passes the House and Senate, he will sign it. Sure I would let the Senate look at it. Let anybody look at it. But don't talk about it too much because.

honestly I don't want to take it away from us. For months, Trump fought to prevent this, even. though he promised during the campaign to release the files. First his close ally, Speaker Mike Johnson, kept the house. out of session for 54 days, effectively stalling the vote. He has nothing he's never had anything to hide. The White House then tried to pressure Republican. Congresswoman Lauren Bobert to block the vote from happening, even summoning her to the situation room to meet with the. Attorney General Pam Bondy and FBI director Cash Patel.

But Bobert didn't back down. It came as the House oversight committee released. a trove of documents from Epstein's estate. Trump's name mentioned again and again. In one 2017 email Epstein writing, "I. have met some very bad people, none as bad as Trump, not. one decent sell in his body. So yes, dangerous.". In a 2018 text to an unidentified person, Epstein. claiming, "I am the one able to take him down.".

By the weekend, dozens of House Republicans were. preparing to defy the president and vote to release the. files, including his close ally, Congresswoman. Marjorie Taylor Greene. "I have no idea what's in the files. I can't even guess, but that is the questions everyone. is asking is why fight this so hard.". The president, furious, but facing a likely. loss, Trump changed course, telling House. Republicans to vote yes, saying, quote, "the House. Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally.

entitled to.". Watching this all play out, Epstein's victims, 11 women in a new PSA pleading for the files to come out. I was 14 years old. I was 16 years old. This is me. Tonight I spoke with one of those. women, Annie Farmer. Do you think these files will ever see. the light of day? I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe. that was possible. I do believe it's possible and I do think. that people are demand that it happens. And if you could say one thing to the president,

send him one message, what would it be? Keep your word please and release face files. And David it's important to keep in. mind that the president doesn't have to wait for Congress. to release the Epstein files. He could order the Justice Department to make them public. right now tonight. But so far the president has not done. that. David. Mary Bruce leading us off from the White House. Mary, thank you. Tonight the US military presence off. Venezuela growing. And President Trump this evening not ruling. out US troops on the ground inside that country.

And now Venezuela's president Maduro. at the microphone pleading for peace. Our Matt Rivers off the coast of Venezuela tonight. Tonight President Trump now says saying he is not ruling out. putting US boots on the ground in Venezuela as the largest. most advanced aircraft carrier in the world. The USS Gerald Ford arrives in the Caribbean. We just have to take care of Venezuela. At least 15,000 US forces now. deployed in the Caribbean.

And here in Trinidad, we're just 15 miles from Venezuela. And right off the coast there behind. the US forces are conducting joint training exercises, part. of the largest US military build up in this region in. decades. The US saying it will designate the Cartel de. Los Soles, a drug traffic in group. It says has run by the illegitimate regime of Venezuela. and President Nicolas Maduro, a foreign terrorist organization, an accusation, Maduro denies. President Trump saying that designation could allow the. US to target Maduro directly.

Trump also leaving open the idea of talks with Maduro, but. making it clear that does not mean using the US military is. off the table. We may be having some discussions with Maduro, and we'll see how that turns out. Venezuela today insisting it is always open to dialogue, as Maduro ordered a massive military call-up of his own, some 200,000 troops, while publicly calling for peace. "As there is no peace.". And David, tonight, as those joint.

military exercises play out, just off the coast there. behind me, and big questions remain about potential strikes. inside of Venezuela. Tonight, the President also not ruling. out strikes against Mexico saying, quote, "it's okay. with me," whatever we have to do to stop drugs. David Pat Rivers, off the table. California, multiple people killed a father and daughter.

orange county. Firefighters had to repel down to save this. man who told them he'd been swept nearly a mile downstream. Outside Palm Springs, heavy rain turned the desert to mud, but then two dozen people had to be rescued from their car. In the central valley, first responders in Fresno. rescuing a man who slid off the road down a hundred foot. embankment. And along the central coast authorities. in Monare County found the body of a seven-year-old girl. Sunday. She was swept away by a massive wave on Friday.

Her father died trying to save her. And David, some parts of Southern California could. get another two inches of rain just today threatening. more mudslides, flash floods, and dangerous driving. Imlandia, shower in Southern California, but flood watches. in the desert southwest and that includes Las Vegas, and in Chateau, because flash flooding through the rest of. the week, a break Wednesday, and another storm Thursday. and a Friday brings additional rain and mountain snow. In the northeast, it's been blustery all weekend. Wake up windshields in the 20s tomorrow. and morning. Thankfully, the wind eases over the. next couple of days. David. Federal agents seem chasing a man. through a parking lot. ABC's Faith the Boube is in Charlotte for us. Tonight, growing fear and outrage across Charlotte, North Carolina after Border Patrol agents. descended on the city, arresting at least 130 people in the. latest illegal immigration lockdown. On day three of Operation Charlotte's web, agents seen chasing a man through the shopping center. parking lot. Why are you running after him?

That man appearing to get away. The Department of Homeland Security. says all those arrested, broke a US immigration laws. and some have violent criminal records or have removal. orders, but city leaders and the governor criticizing. the tactics of federal agents. This is not making us safer. It's stoking fear and dividing our community agents. seen here smashing one man's car window ordering him to get. out. DHS says he was interfering with their operation.

The man telling our affiliate WSOC, he was released after showing proof he's a US citizen. Glory Econner is also an American. citizen. She says her grandson is afraid to go to school. I said, why are you scared? You're born here. Grandma, I'm scared because them will send. me to you. Do you see them doing because we look Spanish? And David New Orleans could be the next Democrat led city to. see this kind of immigration crackdown. Hundreds of federal agents could be on the ground. by the end of the week.

Police releasing new images of the. suspect. Here's Aaron Katerzky. Tonight an urgent search for this man in connection with the. shooting of New York Jets corner back Chris Boyd on a Midtown. Manhattan street. Blocked from Times Square. It was just after 2 a.m. Sunday when the NYPD found Boyd seen here. critically wounded outside a trendy night spot popular with. celebrities and athletes. He was shot through the stomach.

The bullet lodged in his right lung. Well, he say the suspect was with a different group that. got into some kind of scuffle with Boyd's group. Police sources tell ABC News detectives. are looking into whether the dispute started after someone. tried to steal Boyd's necklace. Boyd has played in the NFL since 2019 with the Vikings, Cardinals and Texans. He signed with the jets earlier this year, but it's not played because of a shoulder injury. Tonight his teammates are hoping for a. speedy recovery. There's been a lot of answered prayers. It's a blessing to know that he's in.

stable conditions, surrounded by his family with just a lot. of support around him. I can't wait to see his smile face. again. Boyd is stable tonight. Now to the OJ Simpson case, more. than three decades after the murders of Nicole Brownson. Simpson and Ron Goldman ABC News has learned tonight that. OJ Simpson's estate has agreed to pay $58 million to the. Goldman family. Here's Pierre Thomas. Tonight more than 30 years after the murders of.

Nicole Browns Simpson and Ron Goldman, the painful saga. showing hints of accountability. But attorneys for OJ Simpson's estate finally agreeing to. accept a nearly $58 million claim from the Goldman family. The Goldman family saying in a statement, the acceptance. of the claim is a positive acknowledgement of the debt, but. noting it does not constitute payment. And tonight there are serious questions about how. much money the Goldman's will actually receive.

The murder of Nicole Browns Simpson and Ron. Goldman and the prosecution of OJ Simpson are part of American. lore. After what was called the trial of the century, Simpson. was acquitted of killing the two in 1995. Oranthal James Simpson not guilty of the crime. of murder. But two years later, he was found liable for their. deaths in a civil lawsuit. He's a double murder. He's a vicious double murder. But despite that verdict, little money has. flowed from the Simpson estate. And Simpson's attorneys have claimed that. his estate is in massive debt.

It's not realistic to think that that judgment is going to be. satisfied, even substantially. So, David, all these years later, the Goam and family has. been waiting for some measure of justice. But we still don't know if OJ Simpson will ever fully. truly pay at least monetarily. Wow. A long time coming, Pierre, thank you. Good to have you in person. What they call the heart of the community, Charles White Park was destroyed in the fires, and tonight a. major new announcement from Disney, ABC's parent company, investing $5 million to bring the beloved park back to life. LA County Supervisor Catherine Barger represents Alta Dina.

Disney's role has been been incredible. I mean many of their employees lost their homes up. here and they recognized the value in giving back. What will a rebuilt Charles White. Park mean to this community? It's going to mean hope. I want people to know that there is. hope and that we're not going to give up. This is the main area where the playground will. be kind of... Emily Dow is the lead Disney Imagineer on this. massive reconstruction effort. I hope that we inspire the joy that returns to the community.

but also the imagination and the creativity it will take. to bring Alta Dina back. Reimagining the park, adding a sports field, an amphitheater, a new community center and a state of the art playground. This was a playground and it burned down. It burned down. We're rebuilding and making it bigger and then we're actually. adding a splash pad into this area so you can go directly from. like the playground into the splash pad.

Hot, cool off. Exactly. This new multi-million dollar investment is part of. Disney's 15 million dollar donation in the aftermath of the. fires and tonight the helpers telling us they'll be here. through it all. Soon enough this park will be filled with people. in this community enjoying it as it is meant to be. Yeah, with the donation from Disney and. the community coming together I think it has really become a. possibility to get this back in action as quickly as possible.

And David, we saw it driving around this community still. so much need but also so many signs of hope as they rebuild. including right here at this park where groundbreaking is. expected early next year.
