The new severe storm threat possible, tornadoes. and flood watches across multiple states at this. hour. The Mid-Atlantic and the East Coast. getting hits. Straight-line winds tearing across Fairfax. County, Virginia, thousands left without power tonight. Intense storms in the Northeast over the last 24 hours, torrential rain, strong wind and flooding in the Philadelphia. area, trees down. And at this hour, take a look at the map of severe storm. threat from Texas to Oklahoma, Colorado to Wyoming.

Flash flooding and large hail possible Denver in the bullseye. for potentially dangerous storms. Chief meteorologist Ginger Zee leading us off tonight. Tonight, severe storms marching through the mid-Atlantic. Heavy rain flooding streets in Norfolk, Virginia. Oh, my God. This after damaging winds struck much of the East Coast Monday. Outside Washington, D.C. in Fairfax County, Virginia, straight-line. winds sending trees onto cars and into homes. We have lived here over 20 years, and I have never.

seen anything like this. In Philadelphia, this tree crashing into two houses, displacing 10 people. In the Plains, millions on alert for a new round. of dangerous storms. This tornado rotating east of Pueblo, Colorado, Monday evening. The threat extending across the plains. Our Oklahoma City affiliate, KOCO, with the warning. The wind damage potential really starting to crank up. here early in the afternoon. Storms unleashing torrential downpours,

sparking flash floods. More than a half foot of rain has fallen in some parts of. Oklahoma, with more heavy rain on the way. Tulsa firefighters helping stranded drivers, pushing. this vehicle to dry land. Firefighters always to the rescue. Let's get right back to Ginger with us again tonight. Ginger, what are you watching? So David, just minutes ago, Dallas, Texas got added to. a severe thunderstorm watch. There are tornado warnings popping just south of Amarillo. And you can see Denver and Cheyenne in that level three. out of five for big hail, then damaging winds and.

an isolated tornado. Flood watches still from eastern Oklahoma right to Shreveport. Let's talk about tomorrow, because a lot of the same areas. will be involved in the level two out of five. Denver, Cheyenne, the high plains there of western. Nebraska and Kansas. But we are drier for a couple days before the rain returns. to the East Coast on Friday. And a place that would love to have rain, the Southwest. Extreme heat warnings from Phoenix down to Tucson, heat. advisories in New Mexico and West Texas, and then all of. those fire weather watches, David, for parts of Nevada, Utah.

Police say an 18-year-old opening fire and who they. say he was dressed like. And then the dramatic takedown, it all playing out in Chico, California, north of Sacramento. And here's our chief justice correspondent, Pierre Thomas, now. Tonight, this is the moment officers take down. an 18-year-old suspect accused of opening. fire in a public library in Chico, California. Police suspect it was a plot to carry out a.

Columbine-style massacre. The gunfire piercing the silence of the library last night. Eight shots fired, killing 46-year-old Cody Hull and. 74-year-old Robert Johnson. A girl also wounded. We had an open 911 line that you could hear gunshots. and people screaming. Oh my goodness. Officers seen through the window of this nearby bus swarming. the building, rifles drawn.

We have a situation here at the library. We have a male suspect with a male black clothing, long rifle. Moments later, police arresting 18-year-old Bradley Scott. Sayer, whose sources say was wearing clothing similar to. Columbine killer Eric Harris. Oh, they got him. The time of initial 911 call to and in custody with our suspect. was less than four minutes. Police say the suspect may have been linked to an online group. that admires mass killers.

David investigators believe he did not know his victims. They say he acted alone. Pierre Thomas in Washington. Thank you. Tonight, police releasing new and disturbing video showing. a carjacking suspect who they say intentionally struck eight. pedestrians during a terrifying police chase in Southern. Here's Gio Benitez. Tonight, horrific new video showing a driver on a violent. rampage in Southern California. Police say a man carjacked that white Toyota Camry at Knife. Point last week in Los Angeles before intentionally.

ramming eight pedestrians in nearby Culver City. and leading police on wild chase. This video showing one of those hit and runs, that driver. knocking a man off of his bike at a gas station, fleeing with. a gas hose still attached to the car. The victims, ranging in age from 15 to 70 years old, all. That driver arrested after crashing near a McDonald's. drive-thru. >> And, David, tonight, 45-year-. old Juan Luis Estrada is facing multiple charges, including 10.

Tonight, we're learning more about that second note received. by Savannah Guthrie's family after the disappearance of. her mother, Nancy Guthrie. That second note saying she died shortly after being abducted. And tonight, Savannah's new and tearful plea saying we cannot. be at peace, convinced someone knows something that could help. Here's Aaron Katersky. Tonight, a renewed plea from the family of Nancy Guthrie. after sources told ABC News a second ransom note claimed.

she died shortly after she was abducted from her home and was. buried in nature. Daughter Savannah begging for someone to come forward. This is a new story today that is on your radar, but this. is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that. my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our. children live every day. And we are in agony. We cannot be at peace. So no matter how much I try to come out here every day. and smile and find that joy, and I will, I promise I will.

Savannah and her siblings received two notes the FBI. believed were from the same sender, but so far have. not led to the kidnapper. The first note demanded millions in Bitcoin. Investigators have not stopped either. They're still working to identify the masked man at her.

days before the anniversary of his little girl's death. Here's Stephanie Ramos. Tonight, six-time Olympic medalist Bodie Miller, the American icon who redefined alpine skiing. with jaw-dropping, limit-pushing speed, now. facing criminal charges. Newly released court records show the 48-year-old. gold medalist was arrested earlier this month. in Idaho on misdemeanor drug charges. Bodie pleading not guilty to two counts, including. possession of a controlled substance and possession.

Tonight, the Senate for the first time voting. to end the war in Iran. Four Republicans joining Democrats to say the war must. stop now unless the White House seeks congressional approval. The vote largely symbolic, but a clear sign of lawmakers. growing frustration. Obviously, it's going differently than originally. kind of we were told it was going to go. I agree with the original aims, but it does not seem as. if we've accomplished that. As the Senate was voting, President Trump. was in Pennsylvania touting progress on Iran. We just achieved a historic peace agreement with Iran to.

end the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz. But there was no conflict in the Strait before the. president launched the war. And tonight, there is confusion surrounding the. crucial nuclear talks. Vice President J.D. Vance says Iran has agreed to allow nuclear. inspections, something that was part of the Obama nuclear. deal, which Trump scrapped. But Iran's foreign ministry today says there. are no new plans to let inspectors into their. nuclear sites. Iranians are saying there's no scheduled visit for.

the IAEA inspectors. Is that part of your agreement? They're wrong. They're wrong. They know they're wrong. They told us inside and we have it down 100% inspections. Still President Trump saying tonight there's quote no rush. for these inspections to begin. All right, so let's bring in Rachel Scott with us live. from the White House tonight. Rachel, President Trump I know is set to travel up. to Capitol Hill tomorrow to meet with Senate. Republicans. Yes, David, and this. meeting certainly could turn contentious. We know those Republican senators have a lot of questions.

for the president about this deal with Iran. And as for those nuclear inspections that the president. was talking about, an official with the U.N. nuclear watchdog tells us that as of right now, there are no new inspections that have been scheduled, David. We'll continue to track the back and forth, Rachel. Thank you. We turn now to Los Angeles, where a massive fire is still. burning tonight, seven days straight now. And there's growing concern now over possible health risks. In fact, residents there are being asked to wear masks now. ABC's Melissa Dahn is back on the scene. She's live for us tonight. Melissa?

David, this major warehouse here in Los Angeles still. burning for nearly a week. We are feeling and experiencing this thick. smoke that's coming in. It is also causing air quality concerns. An advisory was just extended, and the people here in East. L.A. lining up for masks and air purifiers, telling us. that they're now experiencing reports of headaches and lung. problems. All of this, of course, as this. raging blaze is really making it challenging for firefighters. As crews, we've seen them tearing down walls, deploying.

firefighting robots to clear the debris inside. They're just trying to put out the smoldering flames. But, look, David, this is not the first time. that this warehouse has actually had its solar. panels burned. It happened two years ago. And this same company over in Washington state had one of. their facilities there burn. There caused fire there, and it burned for 60 days. Well, really interesting. It's happened before. The deadly heat wave spreading across Europe, the Eiffel Tower, is, in fact, closed, France reporting its hottest day. on record, 100 degrees across much of France. Madrid also hitting triple digits today. London in the mid-90s. Dozens of drownings, in fact, reported across Europe. People trying to seek relief from this heat. Let's get right to our chief international correspondent, James Longman, from London James? Well, David, that life-threatening heat wave. continues to smother much of Western and Southern. Europe. Tens of millions are facing dangerous conditions, many without air conditioning.

Today was France's hottest day on record. Iconic sites like the Eiffel Tower and the. Louvre had to close early. Here in the UK, we could reach the highest ever. daily June temperature. Hundreds of schools have closed or shortened hours. Rail services have also reduced. And across Europe, drowning deaths have soared as. people try to cool off in rivers and lakes. Six people have died in Germany over the weekend and 40 across. France in just the past week. and relief is still days away. Temperatures here are projected to remain around 100 degrees.

Meantime, back here in the US tonight in New York state, a suspect is in custody tonight after a massive fire swept. through a motel, killing six people. This was near Binghamton, New York. The fire broke out at the Knight's Inn. That provides temporary homes for those who need shelter. Six dead, at least two injured, and dozens are now homeless. Tyler Russell is under arrest tonight, charged with six counts. of manslaughter and arson. No word on a motive. When we come back here tonight, the World Cup, the major news.

Police say the driver, wow, appeared to be impaired, refusing to stop, plowing through intersections, striking two other vehicles, eventually slamming into a tree. just a few feet shy of a home. Authorities say Luis Robles was a habitual offender. with nine prior license suspensions, now facing multiple charges.
