Good evening and thanks for joining us here on a. very busy Monday night. We do begin here with breaking news in New York City, a. chaotic scene unfolding at this hour in Midtown Manhattan. Police say a gunman opened fire late today on Park Avenue. on the city's east side. Tonight, ABC News obtaining an image of the suspected gunman. a man in a suit and sunglasses armed with a long gun. were told at least two people have been shot in off-duty. NYPD officer and a civilian. The alleged shooter then entering an office.

building, the headquarters of the NFL and Black. Stone Group and investment firm, employees racing from the. building with their hands up in the air, those inside, told the shelter in place. ABC's Juju Chang leading us off tonight right here in New York. Tonight at least three people are dead, including an off-goody. officer after a horrific shooting in Midtown Manhattan. Inside the park avenue headquarters of the NFL. and Blackstone Group. Sources telling ABC News the suspected gunmen, seen. here with a long gun and sunglasses, walked into the.

building and opened fire. employees told to shelter in place, barricading themselves. inside offices with furniture are will read on the scene. Here on Park Avenue, just block south of the building. where it happened. There is a wall of light and sound an overwhelming response. from emergency services witnesses. describing the terrifying scene. We heard multiple shots go off in quick succession. from the first floor and a lot of us is rushing. to the room. Armed officers racing in behind the suspect conducting a.

floor-by-floor search. Police say the suspect apparently. barricaded himself on the 33rd floor and was later. found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. wound. And David, the FBI is now on the scene assisting the NYPD. in this urgent investigation. Authorities tonight still searching for the. motive, David. We turn to the other news here tonight and the life-threatening. heat gripping much of the country. More than 200 million Americans on alert from New York City.

right down to Florida from New Orleans over to Raleigh. The heat index when you factor in the heat and the humidity. combined expected to be well above 100 across the. eastern half of the country. In New York City, it'll feel like 104 from. New Orleans to Raleigh. It'll feel like 110 to 115. Authorities tonight are calling this a long-duration. heat wave, the heat building from day to day. with little relief at night. New York City this evening activating a heat. emergency plan. Tonight several states also bracing for storms. and dangerous winds. New York City, Philadelphia, Boston with worsening.

conditions tomorrow. So meteorologist Jeff Smith has the forecast. and hears ABC's Victor Akendo. Tonight a life threatening long duration heat. wave has 200 million Americans desperate for relief. From the New Yorkers riding the subway. It's steamy. To the workers, toiling in the Savannah heat. Today's been busy from the work out. We started riding calls early this morning, and it was 90 degrees at 9 a.m. So it has been nonstop for heat illnesses. Anyone spending time outdoors is at risk.

Pedro Rete telling me he keeps a close eye on his crew. in this heat. When it's this hot, do you have to keep an eye on the other guys. and make sure they're doing OK? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The city's fire department using these special ice pack vests to. keep their firefighters who carry. 75 pounds of extra gear cool, but telling in chief. Wayne Eiffel says whether you're a. firefighter or not, the message is the same hydrate. That's number one. We tell people if you're hydrating. the day of you're ready.

You're ready late. You need the hydrate for tomorrow. Today back in New York City authorities. activating their heat emergency plan, opening. cooling centers and keeping city pools open later. The heat and humidity also a perfect recipe. for severe storms. Multiple tornadoes touching down in the Upper Midwest. Sunday, this one in Watertown, South Dakota. and David, there is no relief here in Savannah tonight. Even at midnight, the heat index is still 90 degrees.

That just makes the body work harder to keep cool. And this goes all the way up the East Coast. Tomorrow, New York City will feel like 104. - David, yeah, these evenings do not let the body recover. Yeah and David these heat advisories continue in the. New York City area right through Wednesday but this. is such an extreme and wide-ranging heat wave across. much of the central and eastern part of the country. Extreme heat warnings in these purple areas we're.

talking St. Louis all the way down to Jackson, Mississippi, New Orleans, Savannah up to Raleigh. Heat index values could be 110 to in some. cases 120 degrees in these areas check out what it. will feel like Tuesday day afternoon. Some eye-popping numbers, Memphis 114, Little. Rock 111, Savannah 110, and we do not get much relief. at all across the southeast right through the latter part. of the week. In the Northeast, we'll get relief. from storms by Thursday and Friday. Those storms right now firing up over Eastern. South Dakota, moving into parts of Minnesota, Northern.

Iowa, could be damaging winds of 75 to 90 miles per hour. David? Watching that as well, Jeff. Smith with us tonight. Thank you, Jeff. Tonight The right authorities. are on the scene of a deadly boating accident. Two children thrown off a boat killed. Others also thrown off that boat in critical condition tonight. It happened off Miami Beach. The image is coming in now. Authorities say a barge struck a sailboat with five children. and one adult on board throwing them all overboard. Sinking the sailboat rescue teams, including. multiple divers, racing to try to rescue the. children. ABC's Perry Russam.

is in Miami tonight. Tonight, two children are dead after a barge slammed into. a sailboat off Miami Beach, causing the sailboat to sink. "Can you give me a few more, uh, I'm gonna be under the boat?". Divers frantically searching the Skane Bay near Habiscus Island, at around 11.30 this morning, pulling victims. from the water, one by one. "They are performing CPR on the five-day flight.". Authorities say that barge ramped into and. over the sailboat, tossing six people, including. five children, overboard, setting off a massive.

rescue effort. All the kids weren't flying off. Two were found really quickly and three of them. They had to go to the hospital. Those children, all part of a youth sailing camp, the one adult on board, a female counselor. Because this was all hands on deck. All units responded. They immediately started to render. eight and pull these victims out of the water. In addition to the two dead, two of the other sailors. are in critical condition tonight. Officials say the sailboat remains. submerged under the barge. and tonight the Miami Yacht Club confirming the crash. involved participants from their youth.

sailing foundation. The Yacht Club says their priority. is the safety and well-being of everyone involved. As the investigation gets started, we're learning new information from the Coast Guard. They say that children killed our two girls, ages seven and 13 years old. The Coast Guard calling this absolutely devastating. David. - Perry Russell reporting. in tonight from Miami. Perry, thank you. There is also breaking news coming in from Nevada tonight. at Deadly Shooting, outside the casino in Reno. Authorities say the gunman opening fire in. the valley parking area. Authorities were really more just moments ago.

So let's get right to ABC's Trevor roll. What have we learned Trevor? Well, David, we just heard from authorities that three. people are dead and three more were shot and injured after. a man with a handgun walked up to the valley area of the. Grand Sierra Resort in Reno and opened fire. on a group of people. They say he tried to flee. He was confronted by security and by police officers. They say he opened fire on them as well. They returned fire, arrested him at the scene, and he was taken to the hospital. Now a motive is not yet clear, but they did say he had multiple. magazines on him at the time.

This could have been far worse, and the resort says. they are heartbroken by this senseless. violence, David. Trevor Rolt with late reporting for us, Trevor, thank you. Now to President Trump on the world stage, the Jeffrey Epstein controversy following him. The president with British Prime Minister negotiating tariffs. but pressed today by reporters and Jeffrey Epstein and. convicted co-conspirator Galen Maxwell, who just. met with the Justice Department over two days. The president saying he is allowed to pardon Galen Maxwell. and then describing what led to his falling out. with Jeffrey Epstein. Here's our chief investigative correspondent,

Aaron Kutursky now. Deny Jeffrey Epstein's accomplice, Galen. Maxwell, is asking the US Supreme Court to hear her. appeal of her conviction for sex trafficking. Epstein's teenage victims. It follows Maxwell's extraordinary two-day. meeting with deputy attorney general Todd Blanche, a closed-door interview that lasted nine hours. Blanche, until recently, was President Trump's. personal attorney, and today the president would not. rule out pardoning Maxwell. Well, I'm allowed to give her a pardon, but nobody's. approached me with it.

Nobody's asked me about it. It's in the news about that, that aspect of it, but right now it would be inappropriate to talk about it. Trump and Epstein were friends for more than a. decade, socializing in New York and Palm Beach. Today, the president said he never accepted. an invitation to visit Epstein's private Caribbean. Island, where underage girls were allegedly. trafficked for sex. "I've never had the privilege of going to his island, and.

I did turn it down, but a lot of people in Palm Beach. were invited to his island. In one of my very good moments, I turned it down, and I didn't. want to go to his island.". When Epstein was arrested in 2019, Trump said they. hadn't spoken in 15 years. Today, the president describing what led to their falling out, that Epstein had hired Trump employees from Mar-a-Lago. "Stole people that worked for me. I said, 'Don't ever do that again.'. He did it again, and I threw him out of the place, Persona and I'm grata.

I throw them out and that was it. I'm glad I did if you wanted another truth. David, we still don't know what information. Gullin Maxwell may have provided to the deputy attorney general, but we do know she is serving a 20-year prison sentence. and she wants out. President Trump on the world stage saying yes, the people. of Gaza are starving and the United States will. step into help. I mean, some of those kids are, that's real starvation stuff. I see it and you can't fake that. So we're going to be even more involved.

The Hamas Run Health Ministry says 147 people have dying from. famine and malnutrition, 88 eight of them children. Today in Gaza City, this mother carrying home a single bowl. of thin soup for three children than gathering around to eat. But as really Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists, there is no starvation. "I don't know. I mean, based on television, I would say not particularly.

because the children look very hungry. But we're giving a lot of money and a lot of food. And other nations are now stepping up. The president today also turning up the heat. on Russia's Vladimir Putin. He had given Putin 50 days until early December. to make a peace deal with Ukraine. He's now moving up that deadline. I'm gonna make a new deadline of about 10 or 12 days. from today. There's no reason to waiting. There's no reason to waiting.

It's 50 days. I want to be generous, but we just don't see. any progress being made.". The president has threatened to hit Russia with, quote, "very severe tariffs.". He's also wielding tariffs to negotiate trade deals overnight. unveiling a new agreement with the European Union. As part of the deal, the EU will buy American military. equipment and $750 billion worth of American energy and. they will drop all tariffs on most American goods. The U.S., however, will impose a 15 percent tariff on most.

European products we import, including cars, pharmaceuticals, and computer chips. Economists warn American businesses will. pay those tariffs and pass the cost along to. consumers by raising prices. Another big part of why the president is here is to promote. the family business. The president holding all of. these meetings at the Trump family golf courses. Tonight we have new video here showing the moment that. good Samaritans confronted the suspect accused. of stabbing 11 people. ABC's Moe Lelengue is in Traverse City, Michigan tonight. Tonight, you're watching the moment. police say these good Samaritans jumped into action to take. down a knife wielding suspect who went on a random stabbing. spree at a Walmart in Michigan. One man seen here pointing a gun at the suspect, yelling at. him to drop the knife allegedly used to injure 11 people, including a Walmart employee. Derek Perry is the man holding the gun now being hailed a hero.

In an interview with ABC News, Perry, a husband, father, and. former Marine says anyone would have done what he did. I didn't think of anything other than. trying to get him away from people and get him isolated. and get him to put the knife down and just to kind of focus. on me and instead of everyone that was yelling and screaming. in the background. Today the suspect 42 year old Bradford. James Gilley appearing in court now charged with terrorism. and 11 counts of assault with the intent to.

murder after police say he entered the Walmart. around 4 p.m. Saturday and began attacking people near. the checkout area with this folding knife that has a. three and a half inch blade. It seemed like all of the people who got stabbed. and got attacked for people who couldn't physically get. out of his way, like people in wheelchairs. Well, I'll be 11 injured. The worst off were six initially in critical. condition. Tonight, David, all six. have been upgraded and are said to be doing better. All right, Mola, Lengie with us here tonight. Mola, thank you. The daughters were not harmed. Here's Peir Thomas. Tonight, the Urgent Manhunt for the suspect who murdered. a couple who were out hiking with their young. daughters in an Arkansas State Park. The horror unfolding Saturday as Clinton Brink. and his wife, Kristen, were under attack with their. daughters ages seven and nine nearby at the Devil's.

Dins state Park south of Fayetteville. "You know what that's for a white male suspect wearing. black clothes sunglasses.". The situation growing more desperate moments later. "Here's your calling for help.". "We found the victim's down here. They're on a lower Devil's in trail. I've got two bodies down here.". Tonight the mystery unfolding with signs the attack may. have been premeditated. Police reporting that the suspect fled in a black. Ford or sedan, possibly a Mazda, with his license plate. covered by heavy duct tape. Police with the help of the FBI, now searching a massive.

enromot area where there was no cell phone coverage. and there may be limited access to surveillance cameras. Police have yet to say exactly how the couple was killed.
