Smoke from Canadian wildfires hovering over. much of the U.S.

tonight. Millions of Americans on. alert right now in 13 states from Minnesota to New York to. New Hampshire. Within 700 wildfires in Canada and in the west at this. hour, the critical fire danger there. Major wildfires already burning. The dangerous air, those hazy skies bringing real air quality. concerns across the country from Las Vegas to Denver, where. they had to slow down flights coming in and out of Denver. because of poor visibility from Chicago to Detroit, New York City to Boston. Chief meteorologist IndriZee is here with the forecast and. Stephanie Ramos with the images tonight and the health concerns.

Stephanie leading us off. Tonight, smoke from hundreds of wildfires in Canada and. dozens right here in the U.S. making the air hard to breathe. the New York City area blank in a thick haze at noon, the. air quality among the top 10 world. The AQI, the air quality index in the city is 123. That is unhealthy for sensitive groups. It's especially hard for people who already have trouble. breathing. I always recommend my asthmatics to carry their.

computer all pump when the air quality is bad and to have it on. them because it can happen at any moment. Doctor say no matter your health, you need to be. careful. Detroit breaking the top 10 again today. Officials there calling on Canada to do more to deal. with their more than 700 wildfires that are causing. problems from Buffalo to Burlington and Boston. The smoke from the Canadian wild. fires was so bad at one point here in Boston. there was a ground stop of planes here at Logan Airport. Meanwhile the Western US has wildfires and air.

quality problems of its own. Low visibility, forcing Denver's airport to slow departures. and arrivals for a time. And in Riverside County, California, the Rose of Fire burning southeast of Los Angeles, one of multiple raging in the Golden State. Rebecca Shaves shot this video as she escaped the Gifford. Jeffrey Epstein's associate, Glenn Maxwell, said during her. two days of recent meetings with the Justice Department. What she said about President Trump, and tonight the president has now been asked. about what happened just days after that meeting. Glenn Maxwell was transferred from federal prison in Florida. to a minimum security camp in Texas.

Tonight, less than two weeks after the unusual meeting. between the country's second highest law enforcement official. and Jeffrey Epstein's co-conspirator, sources tell ABC News, Gelen Maxwell said nothing. in those two days that would harm President Trump. Maxwell convicted of sex trafficking is serving a. 20-year prison sentence, and during this meeting. with the Justice Department sources familiar. with its contents, say she told Deputy Attorney. General Todd Blanche, who until recently was. Trump's personal attorney, that Trump did nothing in.

her presence that would have caused her concern. In the week and a half, since that unusual meeting, Maxwell has been moved from a federal prison in Florida. to a minimum security camp for women in Texas, a rare move for a convicted sex offender. Late today, President Trump was asked. if he authorized transferring Maxwell from that prison. to a minimum security camp with more favorable conditions, including fewer guards and limited fencing. - Todd Blanche is one of the most highly respected people. you'll ever meet. So I know this, I didn't discuss it with him,

but anything he talked about with her. or the fact that he did that, not unusual number one and most. importantly is something that would be totally above board. Tonight's sources also tell ABC news the justice. department is now considering releasing. a transcript of the nine hour. conversation during which her attorney. said Maxwell was asked about a hundred. different people associated with Epstein. I asked Maxwell's attorney if she. simply telling the justice department. what it wants to hear. Does she have an incentive to just. tell the deputy attorney general what he wants to hear.

And David, we've learned the brother of that Montana suspect. is serving a life sentence himself for a fatal stabbing in. that same town and in Tennessee officials there say that. baby which had been abandoned is safe and healthy. President Trump now arguing Republicans are entitled to. five more House seats there because he won the state. "I won Texas. I got the highest vote in the history of. Texas, as you probably know. And we are entitled to five more seats.".

But the Congressional map is not tied to presidential races. It's historically tied to the once-a-decade. census. Republicans and Democrats have used. redistricting to their advantage before. But tonight, well aware of Republicans' narrow. margin in Congress and the midterms approaching, President. Trump is now saying quite simply Republicans are entitled to. more seats. But that can't happen without Democrats present. and dozens have fled the state. Today, Texas Republican Senator John Cornyn calling on.

the FBI to help bring them back and arrest them. I asked the president if he supports that. idea. Do you want the federal government and the FBI to. help locate and arrest these Texas Democrats who have left. the state? Well, I think they've abandoned the state. Should the FBI get involved? Well, they may have to. They may have to. No, I know they want them back. Not only the Attorney General, the governor. wants them back. You can't just sit it out.
