And we begin tonight with breaking news right here in New. York City, the horror unfolding during rush hour. The deadly scene in the heart of Manhattan tonight, police.

officers opening fire on a >> Tonight, the chaotic scene. in the heart of New York City. NYPD officers opening fire on a woman accused of stabbing. two people in Times Square. These are the images coming in now. Officers with guns drawn surrounding the woman. In the video, she appears to approach. and then officers open fire. Moments later, one of the officers seen holding a knife. in his hand. And just moments ago, sources now telling ABC. News one of the victims and the suspect are both dead. Another victim raced to the hospital. Matt Rivers leading us off from the scene tonight. >> Tonight, the chaotic scene in the.

heart of New York City. NYPD officers opening fire on a woman. When they say stabbed two people near Times Square. That woman and those two people rushed to the hospital with. life threatening injuries. Sources tell ABC News one victim and the suspect have now died. Dramatic video showing officers confronting the. suspect with guns drawn. That suspect seen waving a knife in hand, appearing to. advance toward the officers. Police deploying a taser and shooting. Could have been more than that.

Who knows? It could have been your mother who got stabbed. Authorities say the stabbings occurred near. 42nd Street and 7th Avenue before the suspect fled. toward an NYPD station where officers surrounded her. Officers seen holding a knife allegedly used by the suspect. Police officials stressing the suspect appeared to. be emotionally disturbed, insisting the incident. is not terror-related. David, that deadly attack playing out. right there behind me, You can see how active. that scene still is. This attack happened in one of the busiest sections of New.

York City, a chaotic evening tonight in Times Square. David? Matt Rivers live in Times. Square for us, Matt, thank you. Also breaking tonight, the deadly flooding and now the. urgent search at this hour for survivors in the Grand Canyon. A wall of water sweeping through the trails, heavily used. paths and foot bridges washed away by this. At least two people killed, up to 15 reported missing. Tonight, they are now concerned about possible new storms. moving in, and Trevor Ault at the Grand Canyon for us. Tonight, the growing search for more than a dozen hikers feared.

missing in the Grand Canyon after devastating flash floods. killed at least two people. typically Quiet Creek turned into a raging river with. a wall of mud and debris. The remnants of this cabin carried off downstream. That's a bunk house there. Some of the only trails to these remote areas of the. park have now been buried. Those deadly currents fueled by four rounds of weekend. rain that built up to torrential downpours. with an inch of rain falling in 30 minutes. water first flooding into the tents of visiting campers,

then the race to evacuate. And we just heard people yell, run, run, run. Erica Viola and her husband, Scott, say nearly everything. they had with them washed away. Yeah, there was a moment there where I didn't think I was going. to be able to make it in time. The floods tore through the historic Phantom Ranch. at the base of the canyon. This is the most popular hiking trail in the Grand Canyon, and all that flooding happened several miles. in and a mile down. It makes it extremely difficult to know not. just where to search, but how many people they.

actually need to find. Rescue crews racing against the clock, more than 60. people airlifted to safety. David Gregory was on one of those flights. He says he ran across a bridge to higher ground, and minutes later, that bridge was destroyed. And then I kind of realized that if we had been on the. bridge at that time, we would have been knocked into. the water and the prospects would not have been good. There was so many still unaccounted for. Rescue teams now face a challenging battle in dangerous.

terrain with more storms coming. Officials say they found the bodies of two. people swept downriver. One of them, 46-year-old Texas chiropractor John Juiste, a. married father of three, his family calling him a. real-life superhero. And he'd been hiking with two of his friends, 53-year-old. Tim Smith and 42-year-old Brent Rosenkranz, and both of. them are now missing. And David, earlier this year, Park Service has warned. about the possibility of flash flooding in this exact portion. of the Grand Canyon because of a wildfire last year.

And we've had storms over the canyon for most of the day, with potentially more storms on the way it could easily. lead to even more flooding. All right, Trevor Ault live at the Grand Canyon Forest. Trevor, thank you. We are tracking the new storms now headed to the. canyon and that entire region. We're also tracking a new round of severe storms moving into. the Northeast, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York City. And tonight we're tracking this as well. Tropical storm warnings now up for parts of the U.S. coast right along the Gulf there. So let's get right to senior meteorologist Ginger Zee, who's tracking it all on a very busy Monday night.

Hey there, Ginger. Hi, David. Let's start in the West, and that is with a. place like Zion National Park, who's been under a flash. flood warning for hours today. They've had more than a three-quarters of. an inch of rain, and we know what that can do to. that dry desert land and those creeks and rivers. Please beware if you're anywhere from southwestern. Colorado right through Arizona, southern Utah. Let's go to the Gulf then, because Louisiana and. Texas, I need your attention. We've got what will become Edouard. That is going to make landfall tomorrow. between the Texas and Louisiana state line, two.

to four feet of surge, especially in a place. like Cameron, Louisiana, on that southwest side. And then six to nine inches of locally heavy rainfall, especially north of Houston. So if you're traveling I-10, beware. On the top of all this heat, David, you mentioned it, severe. thunderstorms, damaging wind, the main hazard, a place like. workers who may have survived in air pockets deep in the mud. More than 300 already found alive. This six-year-old girl also rescued days after the disaster. reunited with her parents. Tonight, US officials say 13 Americans have been found safe. But the death toll is soaring. More than 950 people killed, thousands more. still missing, including Jyoti Rai from Lexington, Massachusetts, outside Boston. "Everyone is devastated.

We need a closure.". Friends say she was celebrating her 50th birthday when the. flooding hit, her husband flying to Nepal now searching. for his wife. He's overwhelmed. He's been breaking down like many times. You call him and you just, you know, you hear him crying. This village inundated in under 20 seconds. An entire community vanished. It is hard to tell where the destruction ends. We visited the site of a school wiped off the map,

more than 900 students narrowly escaping the wall of water. as it came crashing through their village. So you had 10 seconds to just run for your lives. 10 seconds to live or die. Praising their principal for saving their lives. If he was not there, then we would not be able to live. David, the wall of the missing behind me. is growing by the day with that desperate effort to rescue. hundreds trapped in a vast network of tunnels while. American families now hear desperate for answers.

David? Those school children, Britt, who told you they had just 10 seconds to survive this, just incredible reporting. Britt Klennett tonight, thank you. There was yet another developing story for late. details coming in now. Here's Alex Stone. David, a jury here in Las Vegas moments ago finding Dwayne. Davis, the only man ever charged in the 1996 murder. of Rabbi Khan Tupac Shakur, guilty of first degree murder. The jury deliberated for only three hours after they were. given the case this afternoon. The case hinging on whether jurors believed Dwayne Davis's.

own words over the 30 years. He had told police and even wrote a book. He was involved in the murder of Tupac Shakur, but he then. claimed that those were lies to sell his books and that he. did not actually have any involvement in the murder. Now, testimony lasted a week and a half and centered on rap. and gang culture in the '90s. Prosecutors saying Davis ordered the murder of Shakur because. he was angry about his nephew getting beat up that night. at a Las Vegas hotel. Now next week marks 30 years since the murder. of Shakur and David Wynn.

Dwayne Davis is sentenced in October. He could get life in prison. David. Alex, thanks. This evening, the breaking headline involving. President Trump's $400 million ballroom, the. Supreme Court decision now allowing construction. to move forward, though the chief justice, John Roberts, in a dissent, writing, "It. is likely unlawful.". Tonight the Supreme Court giving President Trump the. green light to keep building his massive $400 million ballroom,

the sprawling 90,000 square foot project, a personal priority. for the president. I think it will be the finest ballroom of its. kind anywhere in the world. The justices did not rule on whether the construction. is legal, but said the historic preservationists. who challenged it likely do not have the grounds to sue. But in a surprising dissent, Chief Justice John Roberts. calling the construction likely unlawful, saying Congress. should have a say, and that the president likely infringed on.

the legislature's power of the purse. There are still legal battles to come, but bottom line, today's ruling means Trump will likely be able to. finish building the ballroom, which the administration says. is already 65 percent complete. It's the centerpiece of his White House makeover, which. also includes a new helipad. They can have people go there for cocktails and. then walk to the ballroom. Trump hyper-focused on the renovations, even. as the war with Iran enters its seventh month.

The U.S. and Iran now exchanging fire for the. first time in weeks. This is a relatively little war for us. This is not a big war. The president today dismissing a Washington Post report. that top military leaders are warning a prolonged. war will leave the Pentagon without enough. munitions and resources to confront other threats. against America, both abroad and here at home. We can always take from other sources, but I don't think. we're going to need it because nobody's going to mess with us.

Nobody. And, David, we are just. learning that Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is resigning. Sources say it comes after months of tension with Defense. Secretary Pete Hegseth over the firing of top Army brass and. the direction of the service. Tonight, the White House is praising Driscoll as, quote, highly effective. David. Mary Bruce, live. at the White House. Mary, thank you. Now to the medical emergency in the cockpit. A Delta pilot incapacitated on a flight from Minneapolis, St. Paul to Orlando. The other pilot saying, "We need to land.".

The pilot losing feeling in his arms and legs, his heart racing. Here's Gio Benitez. Tonight, the FAA investigating a tense, harrowing moment in the. sky after a Delta pilot suffered a medical emergency. shortly after takeoff. The flight crew urgently reporting one of the pilots. could be incapacitated. We have a potential pilot incapacitation. Can I return immediately at this time? We would like to return immediately, yes sir. It happened just before noon. Delta Flight 1208 with 185 people on board left. Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport for Orlando.

The other pilot reporting the emergency. Numbness in the arms and legs and racing heart rate. Air traffic control telling them they are clear to. safely turn back and land. For your medical emergency, plan on getting him on the. ground as soon as possible. And just days ago, a similar incident happening. with another Delta pilot. A Delta flight from LA declaring an emergency and diverting. to Detroit after the captain reported a medical. issue involving himself. This is the captain. I'm the one that's ill.

I'm going to taxi the jet to the gate and then I. need to go to the hospital. In both cases, the flights landed safely and. both Delta pilots were taken to the hospital. And David, this is exactly why each flight must have two. pilots on board just in case. Delta says that the crew quickly got to work and. followed all procedures, David. Gio Benitez, who covers aviation, Gio, thanks. Tonight, the low altitude stadium flyover. now under scrutiny. Take a look at this. Two passenger jets flying less than 50 feet. over a packed stadium.

This was in Cape Town, South Africa. Fireworks going off at the time. 55,000 fans were in the stands. That airline tonight, Airlink, defending its actions, saying. it was part of a carefully planned event before a. rugby match and that it followed safety regulations. When we come back here, there's news coming in of a shark. attack here in the Northeast. A woman, a female victim, rushed to the hospital. What we know.
